"But!" Well so much for that idea...

Seeing Hieronymous charge into the room and the sudden appearance of the Sinspawn, Garrokmal abandons the idea of using his longbow. He drops it to the ground and rushes at the Sinspawn, readying his warhammer as he does so.

I couldn't figure out a way to cover all that ground and strike with a non-ready weapon in the same round, so I'll just end up as close to the Sinspawn as I can, hopefully get the Quasit in threat distance. Riatin, if Kat used Enlarge Person, G should be a 2x2 image on the map.

AoO if needed:

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 5) + 5 = 12

Here's some more rules-fu for you.

"If you have a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, you may draw a weapon as a free action combined with a regular move. If you have the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, you can draw two light or one-handed weapons in the time it would normally take you to draw one."

So you can drop your bow as a free action, move 30 feet and draw your weapon at the same time. Then when you get there, you can attack. So, I'll just count your AoO against the Sinspawn. Also while enlarged you have 10' reach so the quasit is threatened.

Garrok strides across the room like a giant to bring his mace down on the head of the hideous beast spawn. The metal ball bounces off its skull and thrashes its ugly head in protest.

Erin next

Going to bot Erin so we can keep this moving.

The thief moves carefully around the perimeter of the room, moving up the stairs to come around behind the quasit, hoping she is too busy to notice.

The sinspawn flails at Garrokmal in a flurry of teeth and claws.

Sinspawn Claw1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Sinspawn Claw2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Sinspawn Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Its flailing pays off as Garrokmal is raked with cuts and bruises.

"Ungh!" Garrokmal's size is no help against a flurry of claws and teeth.

25-11=14 HP remaining. Maybe when the spawn goes down he'll have a moment to quaff that Healy pot.

The quasit looks startled by your headlong charge into the room and gets a look of concentration

Seeing the Quasit disappear, Zafzalurg is struck with an idea and unslings his backpack. He drops the bow and pulls out a container of powder, deftly removing the lid.

"I've got another in the open pocket, Lady Katrina, should you want it. The powder has no magic properties, but in a pinch might outline the unseen."

Zafzalurg unhooks the mace at his belt and, with powder and weapon at the ready, prepares for the Quasit's attack.

Since most of this is non-standard activity, I'm not 100% sure what the good gnome might fully accomplish on his turn. Let me know if I've asked to do too much or if Zafzalurg still has a moment or movement left.

His greatest fear realized, Hieronymous puts aside his first instinct, to jump after it. Hearing Zaf talk about powder, he casts Create water and flings it in the general direction of the quasit's last known location.

Not sure if I need to roll for anything

Zaf rummaging through his pack and pulling out the powder would take a full round action, so he'd be able to make a 5 ft step as well.

Hieronymous flings the water at where the quasit was when she vanished. You see droplets spatter off the floor, walls, and the nearby sinspawn, but no sign as to where she was just a moment before.

Vexed by the disappearance of your foe, Katarina takes her aggression out on the Sinspawn, she speaks a word of magic and a dark cloud settles down around the creature's head.

Just an FYI guys, my work has picked up according to schedule and I'm working 14-16 hour nights for the next few weeks. While this means I probably wont be able to post in the mornings as much, unless I'm dead on my feet I should be able to post most nights. So I'm going to try to keep things going as best I can, but should I miss a day or so, don't worry, I have every intention of keeping this adventure going forward! Garrok up

Garrokmal is focused on the Sinspawn when the Quasit vanishes. One second she's there, the next, he glances over - "What in the nine hells..."

No time to look for it - maybe after I've crushed this abomination... Without further consideration, he attacks the Sinspawn with his warhammer.

Oops! Just noticed I have the +1 bonuses from the longsword on my AoO roll up there, Riatin - assuming it's still a hit, the mob should have taken 11 damage, not 12.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10

In his confusion, Garrok loses focus and misses the creature.

AoO if needed:
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Critical threat: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage1: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4) + 4 = 14
Damage2: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 1) + 4 = 11

Understand about work, Riatin - hope you stay rested and well... That said, I wouldn't mind terribly if we picked up the posting pace when we can - it's been almost 10 months and we're level 2 and on the third in-game day, lol... We have RL lifespans to worry about if we want to finish this thing! Just an observation. :]

Oh, one more thing: can I request since Kat is being botted that Caine try to find the Quasit via scent? Not sure how likely that is to work, but it's something. Thanks!

Erin is up.

Seeing the quasit disappear, Erin decides to go after the sinspawn instead and works her way carefully behind it. She swings with her rapier, hoping to skewer it.

Erin's Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5

Occupied with the large barbarian, the sinspawn notices the woman behind him too late as her blade sinks into its back, but the creatures rage is evident and seems to be all that keeps it going as black blood pools around it.

Injured and desperate, it lashes back at its attacker.

Sinspawn Claw1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Sinspawn Claw2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Sinspawn Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

The creature falters from its wounds and fails to land any significant blows on the agile woman.

Over the fracas of battle you can faintly hear the sound of chanting coming from a reedy female voice somewhere in the room.

Fearing the culmination of the chanting, Zafzalurg attempts to locate the source of the sound...

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

...and throw the container of powder at it, hoping the cloud will not only highlight the quasit, but the resulting cloud will cause it to choke and interrupt the spell.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

I wasn't sure if attack was the right roll or it should be more of a dexterity check.

Using his keen gnomish hearing, Zaf cocks his head to one side and listens to the chanting.

@Zaf:
You determine that the chanting is coming from above and toward the middle of the room, around the middle of the fountain near the ceiling which is 20' high.

Thinking he knows the creature's location, he hauls back and throws a container of powder at the ceiling and it explodes into a shower of color. The particles rain down outlining a small flying figure in the center of the room, hovering near the ceiling while the pool in the center is streaked with color.

Good rolls! Back to Hieronymous. I'll mark her location on the map, just keep in mind she is 20' high.

It looks to me like I won't be able to attack the sinspawn, as it is up on the pulpit and it looks like I am not. Also, my ranged attack capability is limited to a sling that I have almost no bonus for, so I am going to try something else.

Hieronymous, seeing the quasit up in the air and the color in the pool, says, "Let's see what happens when I water things down a bit."

He casts create water into the pool.

Hieronymous creates water and directs it at the pool, the colors run, but not much else happens.

Sorry, not sure what effect you were going for here. The colors in the pool were mainly just pigment dust in the water.

Not sure if Kat is gonna take her turn, Riatin - it probably won't effect G's action though, so I'm just gonna take it... Which includes the assumption that if G is 6'8" and Enlarge Person doubles a humanoid's size and he's got 10' reach, he can reach the Quasit at 20' high.

Garrokmal sees the faint outline of the Quasit form near the ceiling and hears its continued chanting... "Good one, master gnome! This will shut the thing up, haha!" Taking advantage of his enormity, he swings his warhammer in a high arc at the demon.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 = 9

Teammates: he had to try to break the cast - if someone else can finsih off the sinspawn, that would be SUPER. :)

I had intended to take her action, but its been a very rough couple of days. Rolling a concealment roll for the invisibility (50% or below is a hit).

Concealment roll: 1d100 ⇒ 60

Garrok swipes with his massive longsword at the swirling pigments where it appears the quasit is flying but the sword only slices through the empty air. crappy luck

Katarina directs a wickedly evil scowl at the Sinspawn.

Sinspawn Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 It has a -2 to it's AC for 1 rd

Confirm roll: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 = 24 Confirmed

Damage: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 2) + (2) = 6

Erin slides her rapier through the Sinspawns back and through the creatures heart. It clutches its chest and drops to the floor, dead before it hits.

Suddenly, the low chanting stops and from the darkness below the pulpit, a giant spider slithers out to join the fray, lunging at Garrok's large feet.

Spider's Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Garrok takes 2 damage and must make a Fortitude save DC 14. If failed you take 1d2 ⇒ 2 Strength damage

At the same instant, while Garrok's attention is turned on the spider, the quasit appears again and a sickly green ray shoots forth from her outstretched claw at Hieronymous. He feels the strength drain from him as the beam's power takes hold.

Ray's damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

9HP and FYI Riatin, he's using the Warhammer, not the longsword. I don't think it's made a difference yet, but for your records and all (and his longbow and one arrow are on the floor by the door and he didn't have time to strap on his shield!). With the Sinspawn dispatched and the spider on the far side of the pool, Zafzalurg keeps his focus on the quasit. He looks down at his shortbow on the floor, then remembering even Garrok and his warhammer hadn't struck home, decides on a different tactic.

Maybe I can distract it enough so that my friends have a better chance of bringing the creature down.

The gnome quietly starts a spell.

Round 4/10 of Enlarge Person by my count, FYI

"I see you now, gnat!"

Garrokmal steps in the quasit's direction and, blessed with both reach and vision, takes an earnest swing at the demon.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Sigh. That's a 5-ft step north-westerly and attack. Erin's up.

Garrok swipes his warhammer through air still swirling with a cloud of pigment but misses the quasit as she darts around his blow.

Seeing Garrok miss, Erin pulls a dagger from its sheath and hurls it at the quasit.

Erin's attack: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 2 = 7

The dagger clatters off the walls, narrowly missing Zaf and Katarina.

The spider turns to bite at Hieronymous after the bashing it took.

Zafzalurg, unprepared for the creature's true form, bolts out the double doors and into the preceding chamber. He thinks he hears the screaming of a small child, a girl, somewhere in the distance, before realizing the shrieking is, in fact, coming from him.

Not sure if Zafzalurg would do a double move or break into a run as a result of failing his Will save. A double move would take the gnome to B1 on the current encounter map, if it's a mad dash, he'd end up about halfway back down the hallway which lead to the chamber with the dais. Does the eagle have to make a Will save? I'll roll one along with its attacks - two talons and a beak, if I'm reading the PRD correctly

Eagle Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Zaf up, if he makes his save he can act, if not he's sleeping.

As for the potion: A potion cures for the very base amount its able to. Ie when its made, its created with the least possible magical energy needed to make it, so a Cure L ight Wounds potion heals 1d8+1. My typical group's House rule for potions however is that a CLW heals 10, a CMW potion heals 20, and a CSW potion heals 30. If everyone wants to use that rule, I'm fine with that.

Grapple attempt: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

That's my current CMB by itself... If there are other modifiers in play, apply them as necessary.

Concealment <25 is miss: 1d100 ⇒ 99

Finished with the quasit's tricks, Garrok throws down his weapons and moves in on the much smaller quarry. He grabs the quasit in one massive hand and wrestles it to the ground as she struggles to escape.

You're both considered grappled.

Erin, still in the clutches of her fear, runs for the door as fast as she can.

The quasit struggles attempting to slip free from the giant barbarian holding her to the ground. She spits and screams who knows what in some demonic language.

Quasit CMB: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Obviously outmatched, she's unable to slip out of his grasp.

Fear(quasit):3 (Fear would be expired from everyone)
Obscuring Mist: 2
Slumber (Katarina):2 (expired from Zaf)
Slumber (quasit):1

Back to Zaf who'd be waking up

Not sure what he's going to find as the sleep spell sloughs off him, Zafzalurg, mace in hand, cautiously enters the main hall once more. I will have to have a conversation with Katarina and her definition of "helping."

Seeing the nasty little creature grappled by the utterly massive Garrok, the gnome confidently sidles up next to them, prepared to strike at the first opening.

Zafzalurg double moves back into the room to stand at G5.

Hieronmyous moves out of the mist and sees the quasit grappled by Garrokmal, Now's my chance! he strikes the quasit with his mace.

Hieronymous moves to I4 (assuming I can move past Garrokmal's bulk).

Heavy Mace: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

I Rule!

Ugh, I missed!, perhaps we will not survive this...

Hey Riatin - it's Kat's initiative, but I'm not sure if she's going to wake up this round or what she'll do... I'll just act for Garrok and you can retcon Kat's action if you like. Since G's course of action is pretty clear, I don't think waiting is necessary.

As he continues to hold the quasit in place, he glances around and wonders where his companions are... They were here a second ago... Ah - there's one!

He sees Hieronymous come out of the mist and swings his mace fruitlessly at the helpless demon. "We're not going to kill it with a gentle breeze! Where are the others?! Rrrraaah!"

With that, he attempts to firm up his grip on the quasit.

Maintain Grapple: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

Locked securely in place, he tries to squeeze the life right out of it.

Gauntlet/unarmed damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

As the thing squirms in his grip, he whispers from behind its head... "You're going to pay for what you've done to our town...

Sorry for the delay, been out of town for my sister's wedding. Katarina is still asleep for the time being.

Garrok squeezes, attempting to squash the little whelp beneath him, but the creature, born from the abyss is obviously more durable than simple mortal matter. It feels as if he's attempting to crack an anvil between his arms, but the increased pitch of the creatures whining tells him that its bones are close to cracking.

Aware once again of her surroundings and no longer overcome by fear, Erin moves back into the room looking to aid her friends. She spots the quasit finally held beneath Garrok and moves in to help finish the beast off.

The little monster tries once more to wriggle free.

Quasit's Escape Artist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Well, this is a tight squeeze. Still a fairly straightforward game of hit the thing 'til it stops moving. But first...

"Oi, we're all here, Garrok. Well, those of us what aren't asleep or enterrored. I know I'm not boulder-sized, but I'm no wee brownie either."

Feeling slightly vindicated, Zafzalurg brings his mace around to squarely thump the quasit.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Er, hopefully that awesome 3 is high enough not to accidentally hit Garrok.

Hieronymous tries to find a spot on the quasit that isn't blocked by orc.

Heavy Mace: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

I am guessing that's not a hit, but you never know, here's the damage roll:

Perception: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

He blinks his eyes and shakes his head in frustration.

Katarina stirs awake as the spell on her wears off. She sees the group gathered around the quasit attempting to subdue her and unleashes a powerful hex toward the foe.

Katarina casts Misfortune on the Quasit
Quasit will save DC 16: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

The tiny witch frowns in horror as her spell slides off the demon.

"I won't be able to hold this thing all day!" Garrokmal growls in frustration... He tries to keep the quasit firmly in place...

Maintain Grapple: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

His oversized arms have an iron lock - he uses it to further crush the evil thing.
