Female Tiefling Alchemist 5 [HP 26/33] [AC:23 T:16 FF:18 CMD:15] [Init +3] [Fort +6 Ref +8 Will +3] [Perception +9]

Hey, glad to join everyone! If anybody wants to tie backstories in together, that'd be cool, I'm going to read up on everybody's stories once I get back to my desktop.

WHAT UP DAWGS

Excited for the game. Hopefully third time will be the charm, for me. :)

I'm probably going to write up a longer biography for Therrik-- I am one of the naturally-wordy, who struggled to slice it down to two... okay three... paragraphs, cough cough. But yeah, I'm totally fine with having some backstory tie-ins, though Therrik is a recent arrival to Kenabres and wouldn't have had too long to make friends.

Welcome, one and all! If you all could do me a huge favor and format your Alias so that their stat block is similar to the typical Paizo monster stats, I would be very appreciative. If you're not sure what I mean by that, take a peek at any one of my Aliases (except this one). Makes it much easier to find the vital information if I need to roll something stealthily. To make it easier on you all, I can provide the formatting for all of that if necessary. All you have to do is ask.

Female Tiefling Alchemist 5 [HP 26/33] [AC:23 T:16 FF:18 CMD:15] [Init +3] [Fort +6 Ref +8 Will +3] [Perception +9]

Will do.

Oh Rat King, now that I'm here, I wanted to ask again about replacing Darkness with a variant tiefling ability. You wanted some examples on what I might want before you said yes/no.

If no, that's fine. My alternative is just investing in a bite attack, which is probably mechanically better for me than any of the below anyway. I just don't like it thematically.

Spoiler:
Some of them that interested me:
12 - You do not need to sleep. You are not immune to sleep effects. (Simply because it's a neat flavor ability.)
14 - Your base land speed increases by +5 feet. (Maybe her hooves make her a little faster)
15 - You possess a fiendishly cunning tongue, granting you a +2 racial bonus on all Diplomacy checks. (My charisma is low, but I want to invest in social skills since I have the points available)
36 - You can communicate telepathically with any sentient creature with which you are in contact. (Both really cool, and actually occasionally useful)
67 - Your eyes glow fiendishly and you possess the see in darkness ability as if you were a devil. (Probably too powerful, even though it's only useful rarely.)

The stat boosts would probably be unfair to take, but if I got the chance, I wouldn't even take INT, I'd probably take CHA to boost my social skills a bit more. Fit the rogue role a bit better.

Hourai's Earlier Reaction:
*Boots up laptop, idly munches on cereal* "Oh, neat, I got the paladin spot..." *crunch crunch, flicks over to news pages, swallows orange juice...*

"...WAIT WHAT."

Welp; thank you for boarding Rat King Plotlines, I'm Hourai (Or Abbie, take your pick) and it appears I'll be your Paladin for this trek through the would-be Mendevian apocalypse. You'll all find complementry peanuts and a decanter of Nerosyan wine under your seats.

But seriously, thanks for having me along guys. So hyped! Consider Gwyn volunterred for the tie-in olympics as well, though y'all simply might have heard/seen her working St. Clydwell's if you're a regular in Old Kenabres or the like.

Okay, I finished purchases, swapped a skill point around, and wrote out FAR TOO MUCH backstory. (Seriously, Therrik, what the hell, bro.) The Cliff's Notes background covers everything y'all need to know, anyway.

OOCly, I'm Dien *waves* Good to meet y'all. Between Mime, Abbie, and me, that's at least three of us who are lady-players, yes? Am I missing folk?

Oh, I know that feeling Dien. Heck, just look at all the extras I ended up dribbling over Gwyn's sheet. Girl wouldn't shut up. I think the only thing her short-form background doesn't touch upon is that her parents were specifically Ivory Labyrinth cultists (since apparently that's been well-known problem in Kenabres, if my vague memories of the Worldwound Campaign Setting isn't complete trash) - but the general gist's simple.

So, three huh? I'd make a joke about turning this into an extended Charlie's Angels, Fantasy Edition, but Therrik might not appreciate the party's Iomedaeans dressing him in drag.

Naali, I'd be fine with her not actually needing to sleep if that's your choice for alternates. If at all possible, I'd rather avoid giving out permanent mechanical bonuses in trade for something like a once-per-day spell. But given that the no sleep one really only changes who is on watch every night, that one should be just fine. Sorry about waiting so long to answer that one, I could've sworn I already had in the thread. My mistake!

So our Heroes of the Fifth' consist of...

One Aasimar Oracle, who I assume will purify the crap out of every evil outsider in a nine mile radius. And is occasionally tossed at abyssal rifts by other, slightly more disgruntled members of the clergy.

One Tiefling Grenadier with a penchant for herbalism, Dawnflowers, and a goal in the form of a mysterious woman somewhere in the Worldwound wastelands.

One Half-Elf Sorcerer, a local Kenebrean with a natural talent for arcana, spellcraft, and getting the f!+# out of the line of fire.

One Half-Orc Ranger, whose scars bare signs of a violent but well-ventured livelihood, and whose Tanglebriar training makes half of The Kite's own guard rota look like McDonalds cashiers.

One Human Paladin, a born heretic who would really quite like to find the demon who snatched her shadow and personally escort it to The Hand of the Inheritor for reasons that are "Completely unrelated to his prior handle as The Hand Of Vengeance." Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Dis gun b gud.

Now if Hendron'll permit me a moment of rambling; at a glance, I bet if Hendron and Gwyn don't know each other personally, it's fairly likely they know each other's families by trade. Assuming we start in 4713, the Koscheis were executed in 4694-ish; evil bastards though they were, they did do a lot of work for the Crusades and their customers were probably in desperate need of a reputable supplier after that debacle...which would be right around the time Hendron's parents got back into business. Maybe the Wickwillows tried to capitalize on the fallout? You'd probably have heard all sorts of slander about the Koscheis from their old clientle, and Gwyn would likely have been a regular herself once she got serious about the Crusade (assuming that Hendron's folks aren't adverse to trading with the supposedly demonically possessed child of their old competitiors). I dunno, just throwing something out there if you're interested.

Stat Block Format <- The format Rat uses with forum tags included.

It's a basic format and easily tweakable. I use the Pathfinder Iconics as a guide to editing it and what not.

And if anyone's interested, I have a matching one for ability/feat/trait breakdowns. -> Traits and Such Format

Also, I know I'm a slacker about getting my own profile ready. Rat knows my basics, but of course you lot will want to know them too, lol. I should have her up and running here sometime today.

I am a fan of your artwork. Eyyyyy. (Are you using a Wacom?)

Also, I tend to stay up dumb-late every day (it's 6:15 am locally for me right now) so the bulk of my posting happens in other people's nights.

Hmmm. Idly considering swapping out Orc Ferocity for Sacred Tattoo. *strokes chin* I mean, they're both pretty solid mechanically, but it's hard to pass up Sacred Tattoo, flavor-wise, with the marks I've already written into his story.... I shall sleep on it...

Awesome! I have a Wacom Intuos 4 lying around in a box somewhere, but I haven't used it in what must be four years. I couldn't get it back to what I liked after a PC upgrade :< Keep at it man. The Fonz would be proud. Eyyyyy.

Dien: As much as I like Orc Ferocity thematically...Unless I'm something that quickly bounces back (like, say, oh, a Paladin with a vending machine of LoHs), I'd take +1 to saves any day. Domination sucks. Conditions suck. If it were full Ferocity, I'd reconsider that stance, but one round of action* rarely does much for me if I'm already dancing with Pharasma.

I'm in merry ol' England, but my active hours are more or less 24/7, work permitting. My relationship with sleep is about as healthy as a deep fried stick of butter, so keeping on top of things like this helps keep me occupied.

*I say this, but I have Gwyn muttering that on one occasion where I used her (or at least her intended build), she took a hook crit to the face at full HP and teetered at 2 from KO while trying to fend off an advanced Ogre that had zero problems getting through her AC. That was...pretty scary. So I guess it's just a matter of taste. For the record, she won, burning her Vow to Self (+4 to hit) to barely KO the thing before it finished the job. Pretty iconic last stand moment. "I am a Knight of the Inheritor, the Light in her Legion, and so help me Goddess I will be the f%$*ing last one to leave this room."

Also as for backstory tie ins, Naali would be at the Armasse festival to learn a bit more about combat before she actually signed up to help patrols/crusaders. The only martial weapon she understands is glaive, so maybe one of you two stabby-stabby type people was scheduled to help a group out that included her.

Yeah, but orc ferocity opens you up for the Ferocious Resolve feat, which does give you full Ferocity....

*gazes* ...oh, man. Has there been any ruling on whether Sacred Tattoo's luck bonus gets the benefit of Fate's Favored? If so, that's a +2, to all saves-- the equivalent of 3 feats-- for the cost of a trait and a racial trait. O_o I... won't do that with this character, because cheesymcjeezy, but... I might on a PFS char. >___> *will look that up later*

I currently live within walking distance of Leeds/Bradford Airport, but I personally herald from further up north; specifically a town called Hartlepool, which is famous for...mistaking a monkey for a Frenchman and sub-sequentially sentencing it to death by hanging. No, really, I'm quite serious.

And yes, Fate's Favored works exactly like that. Every Half-Orc I build has Fate's Favored and Sacred Tattoo. No exceptions. In my experience they make particularly nasty Inquisitors and Warpriests as a result (hey, ho, Divine Favor go!) Though with all the errata bombs they've been pumping out, I give it a couple months before it gets kneecapped as well. I still can't believe Litany of Righteousness is now Language Dependent, SR Yes AND Will Save...I know it's powerful but Christ on a bike...

Touché on Ferocious Resolve. Completely forgot that was a thing; in which case, go for it! I'm kinda putting my eggs in one basket with Gwyn; low CON for a frontliner, base 10 DEX, doesn't carry a shield, dumps her Favored Class bonus into Skill Ranks, and later on probably won't even wear Heavy Armour (unless it's been Mithral'd I guess). Though I suppose those problems'll sort themselves out as she levels. With the Feat Fixes freeing up some choices, I'm actually wondering if I shouldn't shoehorn Ultimate Mercy in. I love that Feat and I was picking up Greater Mercy anyway so...Yeah. Nothing says "Divinely Sponsored" more than being able to raise the dead, right?

Gwyn's got the worst shield-arm you'll ever see, but if you went to St. Clydwell's looking for a bit of sword practice or Worldwound advice, she'd be glad to help out...presumably once she's finished rushing around with whatever Armasse preparation/ceremonials/guard detail the Cathedral has her doing, anyway :)

Ah cool. I've been to England twice, but didn't really get near Leeds. (well, not really true. I got to York. Pretty close! but not leeds.) (Heeee re: monkey.)

*strokes chin* Yeah.... Gorumite warpriest is now looking like my next PFS build.... dash-19, here we come... *sigh*

*nods* It'll be a fun challenge, anyway, the low-con-low-defense. :P

Back on topic with tie-ins:

Gwyneth: Therrik's probably asked around at St. Clydwell's for Janayya, so he's stuck his head in the doors a few times, at least.

Naali: Yeah, that's feasible that Therrik could have run into her at the training grounds. I dunno if he'd be asked to teach classes given nobody in town would know him, but I can see him watching the training and being like 'okay, actually you should cut like THIS' or something. Never mind he's still just a level 1 like everyone else :P

Hendron: Therrik could easily have come to the family shop to price out a cold iron falchion (and then be all, I'm poor, sadfaec).

Abrielle: Hmm, so... would Abrielle usually be at one of the city's temples, or the like? Having read her background, that seems reasonable, but if she'd be somewhere else in town most often, I'm up for whatever for background run-ins.

So, I have good news and bad news. The bad: I broke the gameplay thread for this group because I am a bad. The good: I made a new gameplay thread and linked it to this one. So what that means for you all is that you want to use the one that ends in "Wrath of the Righteous Gameplay" and not the one missing Gameplay. I hope this makes sense and isn't extraordinarily confusing.

Silver Crusade

Game left due to change in work situation

Has Hendron checked in yet? Should we PM him o.O maybe he didn't see selections.

Anyways, Abrielle would most likely be found in and around the Cathedral of Saint Clydwell when she's in the city, though she's rarely in the city for long. The festival is one of the rare days she's in the city for more than just a day. Familiarity is probably more in facial recognition, maybe a name?

Naali, trait bonuses do not stack. So, looking at your Traits chosen, you've got a bit of conflict here with the bonuses to Bluff. You can either juggle one of the Traits over to something else or deal with the fact that they won't stack. Your call.

Female Tiefling Alchemist 5 [HP 26/33] [AC:23 T:16 FF:18 CMD:15] [Init +3] [Fort +6 Ref +8 Will +3] [Perception +9]

Yeah, I know. The extremely fashionable trait isn't even being applied yet, though. I wanted bluff and diplomacy as class skills, so the result is just having a trait bonus that doesn't get applied in the end. Oh well.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

I think I will switch over to Sacred Tattoo. I'll update the sheet in a bit, but just committing myself in here, before I make my first post. *now goes to do that* ;)

Hiya, Hendron!

No worries, Naali, that's fine. Just wanted to make sure you were aware. And that sounds good, dien. I forgot to mention that the lizard racing is a Handle Animal check that can be done untrained. So anyone can do it. Obviously, those with experience handling animals will have better luck, but that doesn't exclude those who do not.

I'll get a post up responding to you all and passing out prizes later this evening.

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer

Hi, everyone! Yeah, if I messed up anything, just let me know and I'll plug away at it. I'm pretty spacey when doing a lot of the mechanical stuff, but Naali vouched for most of it (which is not to say that any foreseeable problems are on their shoulders, but you should expect significantly less errors than had I forged ahead by myself).

At a very quick glance it looks about right by me~ That said, if you don't get mechanics down now, you might hit trouble when Mythic comes into play, so it'll be good to double check everything. I imagine that's quite a ways off though so you'll get the swing of it :P

Oooo untrained lizard racing. I really need to throw Gwyn at that just because she'll legitimately break down laughing when she fails 9 times in a row (I have a history of notoriously bad Handle Animal checks)

So, in taking a peek at your sheet, Hendron, I'm a little curious as to your logic with the Ability Scores is. Just curious, really. Otherwise, it looks fine aside from the fact that your Perception should be +1 and not -1. If you're confused about stuff like BaB, CMB, and spells per day, feel free to give me a yell. I can walk you through it.

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer

I assume you mean why I picked various abilities? Or do you mean where the scores came from? And I'll patch up the perception - thanks! It was just a bit touch-and-go when it came to transferring the Mythweavers stuff. Kind of hard to make it remotely readable for somebody else.

Ability Scores specifically I believe, Hendron. I have to admit, on a second look, your scores are pretty entertaining. You might be the first PB-built Sorcerer in a long while that I've seen without a positive DEX modifier...at least not one that isn't going all-in on Evocation + Bloatmage shenanigans.
