Lazarus wanders up behind Quang Chi and begins to scan for magical auras...and yes, there are magical auras present here! It looks, like...two or three, all of roughly the same strength. But...wait? That can't be right.

The auras seem to be coming from the ceiling? There's nothing up there but shadows and cobwebs.

Or is there?

Suddenly, movement from two different directions catches the eye of both Lazarus and Quang Chi. First, from the wall to the south near where Frankie and Serge stand two small pinpoints of light - eyes - materialize. And second, up on the ceiling, the pair spot a heavily-armored, deathly pale woman with long, pointed ears...who gazes directly down at the group, a wicked smile exposing a pair of sharp fangs!

You recognize the pinpoint eyes as belonging to a wraith, an incorporeal undead creature born of evil and darkness. They hate light and living things, as they have lost much of their connection to their former lives.

Oberon points to the wall to the south. "Francis, Serge, watch out! The pinpoint eyes are a wraith, an incorporeal undead creature born of evil and darkness. "I'm not sure what that fanged and heavily-armored, deathly pale woman with long, pointed ears is," he says, pointing to the ceiling.

The wizard pulls a piece of parchment with a holy text written on it from his spell component pouch and casts a spell. A shimmering, magical field, a shield of faith appears around the samsaran that averts and deflects attacks.

Then Oberon flicks his wrist, releasing his wand of magic missile into his hand.

Oberon? Is Lazarus channeling a past life? :)

As Lazarus recalls what he knows of the fell creatures before him he gets flashes of another life, another time. A past life or maybe a glimpse of a life not yet lived? But that's a question for later as now is the time for action!

The samsaran recalls that wraiths have the frightening ability to not only harness negative energy with their touch but can also drain away a foe's vitality with that same touch, sometimes even to the point of death, bolstering themselves in the process. He's also certain that wraiths do not possess any extraordinary defenses such as regeneration or fast healing.

Constitution Drain:

Constitution Drain (Su) - Creatures hit by a wraith’s touch attack must succeed on a DC 17 Fortitude save or take 1d6 points of Constitution drain. On each successful attack, the wraith gains 5 temporary hit points. The save DC is Charisma-based.

Lazarus then quickly conjures a magical shield, powered by his faith in the Starsong, and flicks his wrist to draw his trusty and well-worn wand.

Then...as if one wraith wasn't enough a second wraith, having gone unobserved altogether, emerges from the northern wall and takes to the air as well! Meanwhile, up on the ceiling, the pale woman continues to smile down at the lot of you.

"Mmm, it has been an age since we've had visitors here...and so many! You simply must stay for dinner," she purrs. Then, more loudly, she calls out, "Come, my love! I have guests for you to entertain!"

She then scuttles across the ceiling to the rear of the chamber and begins to descend the wall, though she isn't able to completely descend it in one go.

The risen dead, as we suspected we might face. 'My love,' she said. Who does she mean? Who is she? Questions for another time, though.

Quang Chi finishes his quick musings by drawing forth the image of a charging bull to boost his strength. He quietly chants a prayer in Tien, and his bow glows brightly for an instant.

Secondary animal aspect Bull as a swift action for +2 STR. Casts gravity bow as a standard action.

Though curious about the pale woman and the 'love' that she calls for, Quang Chi pushes the curiosity aside. Calling upon the powers of nature and that of his god, he prepares for what could very well be the fight of his life...

Jan wonders what all the commotion is about and hurries to see what everyone is so exited about.

With arcane sword in hand Jan moves forward to confront the evil. Stopping at the top of the stairs he calls upon Gozreh to give him divine protection.

"Gozreh protect me against these creatures of darkness!"

Perhaps Jan has heard of these creatures.

Both Jan and Serge gird their loins and weapons for battle, ready to put their undead foes to rest for good. And perhaps to Serge's surprise, Blue actually answers him and his challenge!

"W͠e s͡erve ̨ou҉r mi͜s̛t̨ŕe҉ss͡,̛ even in d̵e͠at͝h.̀.͢.͞" it hisses as it descends from the ceiling towards the nearest living target...Frankie. "Ar̵e͢ ͠yo̕u ̶r͢ea̷d̵y͘ fo͘r d̛ea̶th,̀ ̶c͡hi͏ld͜? ̡Joi͢n u͏ss̛s..̵.̨." the wraith intones as it reaches out a wispy, spectral hand...

Banking on Jan and the others to handle the wraiths for the moment Lazarus focuses his attention on the fanged elf crawling down the western wall, conjuring a burst of radiance in her face!

Though she's able to fling up her arm and avoid being blinded, a slight sizzling sound is heard and faint trails of smoke waft off of her form as the magic otherwise does its job.

"Aiee! Rude. You should give a warning before turning on the lights," the elf hisses, blinking rapidly as she's left momentarily dazzled.

And then much as expected, Green Wraith also presses the attack as it swoops down on Quang Chi with a shriek and reaches out to claw at his face with a wispy, clawed hand...

Uncanny Dodge (Ex): At 4th level, a rogue can react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She cannot be caught flat-footed, nor does she lose her Dexterity bonus to AC if the attacker is invisible. She still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized. A rogue with this ability can still lose her Dexterity bonus to AC if an opponent successfully uses the feint action against her.

Meredith casts Shield on herself and begins to climb up the wall. "Denair, get over there to that creepy lady in the back. I'll be right over."

"Uh... I'll hit the creepy lady with the red eyes." Denair takes flight and tries to fly past the Blue ghost.

I'm assuming Denair has enough room to fly over it, provoking an AoO in the process. She will fly until she's 10 feet up so she can hit the elven lady.

Time is a funny thing and ever since the group's (sans Quang Chi) adventure in Uringen, oddities in the timestream occasionally rear their head. Frankie, certain that death had come for him as the wraith touched his shoulder, blinks...and then the wraith is reaching for him again and this time he's ready and manages to duck out of the way!

While Meredith conjures a magical shield for herself and ponders how best to approach the Lady in Red, Denair simply goes for it, flying up and over the Green Wraith. She zips in close and swings at the woman, but misses by what feels like a country mile!

Seeing that Quang Chi is blocking his advance he will call out for the monk to move backwards.

"Whatcha going to do with that bow right up there in that spirits face!?! Move back so I can get sword stuck into it!"

While Meredith advances and Jan hollers for Quang Chi to move once he's able, the Lady in Red glances over at Denair with a look of irritation on her face.

"You buzz about like a fly! Don't you know what happens to buzzing flies?"

Still clinging to the wall with her feet and one hand, the Lady in Red lunges forward and swipes a clawed hand at Denair...

Slam vs. Denair (Dazzled): 1d20 + 12 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 12 - 1 = 30
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

...and wallops the eidolon across the face!

"They get swatted!"

The actual physical blow doesn't even hurt that badly but it also feels as though the woman's touch is attempting to sap Denair's energy!

Denair, please make a DC 16 Fort or take 2 negative levels.

She then proceeds to continue her descent down the wall, seemingly uncaring that it leaves her vulnerable to a return swipe from the eidolon, and moves towards the group. Those of you with particularly sharp eyes even notice that some of the damage she'd taken from Lazarus' spell seems to be slowly repairing itself...

Denair may take an AoO against Red as she descends.

Denair feels kinda drowsy for a moment but quickly revitalizes herself and shakes it off. "H-hey! Where are you going?"

The pale fingers pass Quang Chi's face as he pulls his head back just enough to avoid them.

At Jan's urging, the quiet monk moves to give him room to get into the fight. But with Laz blocking the way, he surprisingly takes a half step forward rather than back!

Seemingly unconcerned about the possibility of a retaliating strike, he takes a deep focusing breath. As he lets it out his hands become a blur and four arrows leap from his quiver in rapid succession.

Frankie nods to Serge and smiles at the same time. "He doesn't stand a chance... not against... THE FLASH!" And in an instant Frankie tumbles underneath the whispy blue wraith and draws out his trusty (and newly magical!) mithril dagger and tries to swipe at the creature. Using the blade to try to keep it at bay while he does. It appears his dagger work has fallen behind his acrobatics though.

With nowhere to go but forward Quang Chi steps forward slightly; he has just enough time to fire off a volley of arrows into Green's face (sorta) before Jan moves forward and forces him to flatten - a bit uncomfortably - against the wall. Green wails with pain and anger as all four arrows rip through its' shadowy essence, leaving large tears! Jan adds insult to injury as he slashes at Green with Due Diligence, cleaving another large slash in the wraith's incorporeal form. Though neither of the men's attacks seem to injure the wraith as much as they might have injured a creature with more substance, Green still looks to be in pretty sorry shape.

"Mistre͟ss!̛ ̸ He͞ ̢c̛arr͘i͞eś ýour ̛l͏o̴v̛e̴r̛'͜s ͡swo͘rd!҉" Green shrieks as he shrinks away from the Ulfen.

You hit either way but Jan doesn't have to squeeze while he's in Quang Chi's former space; also moved Jan forward accordingly.

On the southern side of the room, things are at more of a stalemate; Frankie has little trouble tucking and rolling past Blue and into a more favorable attack position but isn't able to connect with his newly-magical dagger. Serge fares no better as he steps forward to help Frankie, his greatsword cutting nothing but the empty air.

As if perhaps sensing the holy power residing within Serge, Blue Wraith turns its attention to him as it reaches forward...

Incorporeal Touch vs. Serge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

...and attempts to sap him of his vitality!

Serge shrugs off the wraith's attempted drain attack with a lot of righteous indignation and disdain, while Frankie lets everyone know just what he thinks of these stupid meld-into-the-wall shenanigans. Ever the group backbone, Lazarus remains where he is and pulls out another wand, granting the entire group a small blessing to aid them.

Green Wraith didn't particularly enjoy being arrowed or sliced with that damnable sword and so reaches out to touch...

...and a shadowy hand swipes at her as she goes by, managing to catch her arm in spite of the wall!

Still, she moves into position at just the right time and Denair is able to whip around and give the creepy elf a real good wallop! And yet...as powerful as it was, Denair's strike doesn't seem to do nearly as much damage as she'd expected. She hisses angrily, but barely spares a glance at either Meredith or Denair. No, her gaze seems to be focused on Quang Chi as well as Jan.

"You're a fine shot...but what will you do when your foe comes for you?"

Quick a flash, she draws what looks to be a katana and springs past Meredith and Denair - though it leaves her open to attack she moves with unnatural dexterity and speed. (Meredith & Denair may both take an AoO against her as she moves away.) Her target is clearly Quang Chi and so sudden is her attack that he has no time to even try and fire off a shot before she's there in front of him, katana slicing through the air...

Taking Jan & Frankie's actions first instead of initiative order, otherwise they don't make sense in light of Quang Chi's maneuver.

Though the Red Lady manages to get up in Quang Chi's grill, it's not without a toll. While Denair misses as she zips by Meredith gets in a terrible blow with her enchanted silver mace, cracking bones to devastating effect! What's more, it looks as though it does just as much damage as Meredith might've hoped that it would.

Ready to come to their companion's defense, Jan and Frankie fall into flanking formation as they try to strike at the Red Lady...to no avail.

After the elf's attack Quang Chi strikes back, furiously attempting to get the woman away from him for a moment but she's surprisingly hard to hit and even harder to push...and yet finally, he manages it! He's then quick to step forward and out of the tight corner, firing off another shot but is unable to connect.

Okay, so your third attempt with the 27 was enough to succeed and move her back; even accounting the +4 for no longer squeezing, the 4th(?) attack is a miss. So if I understand correctly, you move her (adjusted your position & hers accordingly) but otherwise do no damage. Correct?

Adding insult to injury, Blue Wraith emerges from the wall once again to come to his mistress' defense. Sliding up behind Serge, he reaches out...

Serge grimaces as his skin pulls tight against his body. His energy escapes through his skin in a hot rush of steam, sapped into the undead's form. He tightens the grip on his weapon, groaning, nearly keeling over. "Gah. You.. bastard. Apparently, they didn't kill you enough last time... Time to try again."

Season of Ghosts

The two wraiths cackle gleefully as they finally succeed in stealing *someone's* vitality, appearing to become slightly bolstered for their efforts. While Denair attempts to come to Serge's defense, Meredith cracks the Red Lady's skull for a second time with her mace - and once again, she seems to eat every bit of the damage.

But she fights on, in spite of her injuries. "Some of you fight well - but it won't save you! Face now your tragic end!" Laughing gleefully the elf suddenly spins about like a whirlwind, striking at everyone within reach!

Serge is unconscious here, being at 24 maximum HP after the con drain. With a con score of 5 and -3 HP, he is pretty close to dead.

The woman's attack catches the already weakened Serged in such a way that he's thrown back against the wall with an audible CRACK. He slides down the wall with his greatsword falling at his side, his world now dark. The divine symbol hanging from his neck flickers brightly as a spark of Ragathiel's power from within keeps Serge from the Boneyard. For now.
