Maxime Chanteclerc |
the only one I don't used yet is acrobatics, Paladin are poor in skills...
With all the work, Maxime took off her armor, as everyone was tired she tried to help them transporting the fragile component safely.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Yeah ! Iomedae with Maxime on this !
GM Helaman |
Its about 2 hours after dawn that she slumps over her bench but she is smiling.
I think I have it!, she decants it and offers a hit to anyone who thinks they are infected as well as filling a crystal vial.
I need you to help me with something. Word is that the Fey Queen is seeking a cure and we are friends of a sort. If I draw you up a map, can you deliver this?
Maxime Chanteclerc |
Maxime let the other, and of course Inor, take the cure first. Then take if for herself.
Thank you very much Laurel, you were amasing !
As for the Queen, don't worry, our mission was to help her too ! Your help to find her will be great and will save us a precious time.
Thanks again !
Maxime hug her in thanks.
Then she turn to her comrades
If everyone is OK, I propose to go now.
Lars von Halgraff |
"I feel fine, Maxime, if rather tired. But I can press on now if need be."
Lars gives Maxime a weary grin, clearly happy that the cure was found, but obviously wishing for a few hours' sleep as well.
Maxime Chanteclerc |
Oh yes, of course. To help people I must be myself not countagious ! But thanks for asking Balak.
after thanking Balak, Maxime responded to Lars
You may be right, we need to rest... but I'm afraid we will loose a precious time if we don't go now.
Laurel, how many hours or day do you think we need to go to the Queen kingdom ?
Balak Stone |
"Before we go any further, I can use some juice from my wand please." Balak says.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Outside, Balak looks to see what the commotion is. "What's going on here?" he asks one of the townsfolk.
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Maxime Chanteclerc |
Of course Balak, I will
---
Iomedae ! It could be the cultists ! I forgot them with all our work !
Hurry up we must be sure if it's them to stop them.
Weapon drawn Maxime get outside.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
GM Helaman |
Several humans push a two wheeled cart overflowing with the same blooms and flowers you saw yesterday in that strange field. They have bought the wagon down the wagonrutted dirty street, bringing it to a halt in front of Roots and Remedies. They wear tattered clothes over ragged studded
leather armor and smell as though they have not bathed in months.
You notice that several townspeople further up the road from Roots and Remedies carry the familiar flamebloom flowers, likely given to them by the cultists.
Maxime Chanteclerc |
Seeing that, Maxime moved outside shooting to be heard by the most people
By Iomedae ! Don't touch or take these flowers ! They are poisonous and noxious ! Theses men are bad people ! Throw away these flowers don't take or touch them !
While moving and shooting she draw her sword
Balak Stone |
Balak runs up the street, adding his voice to Maxime's. "Drop the flowers, by the powers of Hell, or a Plague will be upon you and your village!"
Intimidate 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
He then turns to face the men at the wagon. "You! Step away from the cart and get down on the ground, or we'll have to make you." he growls.
Maxime Chanteclerc |
In Iomeade's name ! Don't listen to them ! They are Urgathoa's follower and only want to bring Doom to this town !
She approach one the men and show his face to the gathering crowd
See ! The mark of infection is upon them ! Don't trust them ! Destroy these flowers !
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Kurvast |
Kurvast follows behind and draws his rapier, brandishing the blade at the apparent leader of the cabal.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
"The flowers we will burn. You will be cut down here like flowers yourselves, unless you take this chance to depart, for us to hunt you to your lair."
GM Helaman |
Moving at a speed that can only be because they anticipated violence, the cultists move before you. #1 throws a handful of the flowers in Kurvasts face. Need a save if equals or beats touch AC but will give you an AoO from Kurast before drawing his sickle. His friend moves in behind Kurast and attempts to gank him.
Flower throwing vs flatfooted touch AC
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Ganking with Sickle
1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 2 = 20
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Maxime Chanteclerc |
This time, there will be no surrender. They were Evil and Iomedae judgment will be swiftly upon them.
Sword in hand she attacked the nearest cultist.
Longsword with power attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 - 1 = 251d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 1 = 201d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 = 7
As justice itself, Maxime sword cut down the cultist from hip to throat.
Kurvast |
Flat-footed when we're facing them down with weapons drawn? Catch Off-Guard only explanation, with Improvised Melee Flowers.
Fort w/ Charmed Life: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
The duelist exhales sharply as the diseased flowers are tossed into his face.
Power Attack AoO vs. #1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Power Attack #1, then 5-foot.
Attack #1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
His first strike misses the cultist, but the Shoanti's narrow blade pierces true on the second. Kurvast steps back from the flower man, putting his back to Balak.
Kurvast will attempt to parry a flanking attack or further flower shennanigans.
GM Helaman |
Did he beat your initiative? Yes... RAW? You are flat footed. Did he trigger an AoO? Yes. As flowers aren't a listed weapon but could be seen to be something like throwing powder or something like that, I used touch AC and not full AC - In PFS the DM is allowed a ruling on situations like this, but am happy to discuss if you feel you've been screwed over. Post on the discussion thread if thats the case
Kurvast |
No worries, I didn't word it as well as I could have. The first roll was his normal AoO for pulling out the flower or whatever, and the second with the crit was his attack for the turn.
GM Helaman |
The cultist crumples to the ground... Stabbed through the heart.
Ere... Waddaya go do tha' fer?, one of the scattered villages watching the proceedings says.
Ee wus jus' givin' away flewers, whines another.
For a time confusion reigns but slowly Maxime, backed up by the town healer, convinces the towns folk. The cart is towed away to be burned, leaving you to continue your quest.
GM Helaman |
Following the map and directions provided by the healer you push into the woods. A narrow path cuts through the thick overgrowth of the dense forest. The sound of Darkmoon Woods’ fauna permeates the air, as does the scent of damp moss. Shafts of light pierce the misty air where sunlight breaks through the nearly solid canopy, creating pools of green light on the forest floor.
You hear a cracking and movement of branches off to the side of the path - someone is moving through the forest, apparently heedless of the noise they are making... and they are coming your way - fast.
GM Helaman |
A startled creature bursts through the trees and skids to a stop about 40 feet up the path ahead. It is the upper half of a half man and lower half of a goat that walks upright and while the face is human and sparsely bearded, horns curl from its head... though those horns are small and the face seems young.
It regards you with darkened features, chest heaving and fits an arrow to its bow... but doesn't fire.
Maxime Chanteclerc |
What is this creature ?! Some fey ?
As the creature wasn't attacking them, Maxime hopes to find a diplomatic solution with the creature.
Good morning to you, Mister ? I'm Maxime Chanteclerc, Iomedae's follower. Are you familiar with these woods ? We hope to be able to see the Queen to help her.
Maxime Chanteclerc |
Me too ! GMing for GenCon last year was great and gave me those beloved shirt !
No, I'm not ! And we bring a cure too ! Our friend Laurel in Falcon’s Hollow with our help create a cure against the disease of Urgathoa's followers.
We used it on ourselve before trying to give it to your Queen.
Unfortunately the only words we had from your Queen was from our Venture Captain Brakett a few day ago. He send us to retrieve a cure and give it to the Fey.
Can you help us ? And of course, we will keep our distance as long as you want.
Even if the creature seemed friendly enough, Maxime tried to see his true intentions.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
GM Helaman |
He's scared - likely fleeing from something and hes looking lost.
I will not guide you to the Queen, too much is at stake, but will take your message. We will find you anon, and with that he springs down the path and away.
You press on the path but not long ahead you hear something... A low melodic droning carries through the still air, interrupted by random screams of pain and pleasure. Ahead lies a clearing surrounded by low-hanging willow trees.
You creep ahead to see what can be seen.
In the center of the clearing rests a long, bone banquet table covered in mounds of bright red, orange, and yellow flower petals, human skull goblets dripping with wine, and alabaster platters filled with raw meat. In the center of the table rests a water-filled basin made of carved birch, from the center of which rises the wooden sculpture of a nude woman pouring water from a jar.
A dozen human revelers gorge themselves on mounds of flamebloom petals, wine, and raw meat. The diseased cultists dance and frolic around the gruesome banquet table, humming a macabre dirge interrupted occasionally by a bloodthirsty scream. They seem to pay deference to a woman at the head of the table who is flanked by a man who stands perfectly still with a dead flat expression and greying skin.
Will leave you for a wee bit to talk, plan and prepare. Map will be up soon
Maxime Chanteclerc |
To the creature
Thanks, Mister ? ... It's all what we asking for.
------
If we are less than 60ft., Maxime will use her detect evil on the woman and the greying skin man.
Whispering Maxime said
I thinks the two most dangerous foe are the woman and the greying skin man. We must act swiftly and deadly against these two.
I hope the other will surrender and there will be no more bloodshed.
Somebody have any ideas how to proceed?
