My last turn was taken up with moving and drawing a shortbow (two move actions), but now...
The dwarf narrows his eyes and takes a shot at the chair.
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Hmm, this won't seem to do at all. Jaysin changes to his rapier and also attempts to try and corral the chair so others might be able to take it down.
Attack Aid Another: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Svetlana continues striking away, snarling with anger at it refusing to die.
Attack 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 = 21
Damage 1d10 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 1 = 14
+1 from Shattering Strike

Enlarged Kraang takes Jaysin's assist and proceeds to pound this sturdy chair.
Aid me, slaves. Your dagger and bow are useless.
Quarterstaff vs Chair AC: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 2 = 181d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
If you are going to aid another, please state whom you are aiding and if its for AC or To Hit. Thanx!

Jaysin continues to attempt to aid the enlarged party member, hoping he will do enough damage to eliminate the threat.
Aid Kraang, damage: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Flint grumbles, Sheesh. Good thing we're sneaking not fighting. He turns his attention back to the "counter-intelligence" stacks before proceeding to examine the "internal security evidence."

![]() |

Jaysin will go back to the easel and see if he can discover anything from the information on it, just as he was before the killer chair attack.

![]() |

Hidlergrimm will also turn back happily, but a bit shaken about the fact that in chelish territory even chairs can be obsessed by evil intentions.
The internal security bookshelf looks all the more suspicious to him while he investigates it.

GM Helaman |

“Internal Security: Evidence"
Flint Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Flints search is rapid, his skill at rapidly assessing materials leading to but a minute before he finds something pertaining to Zarta.
The evidence that Tancred used to indict Zarta consists of a series of letters written in a halting hand that resembles the paracountess’s. Upon closer examination, however, the letters’ writing differs significantly from the note found in Zarta’s study. The forged letters are addressed to a prominent House Thrune enemy, and in them “Zarta” discusses selling privileged Chelish information supposedly meant to foment political insurrection. Zarta’s personal travel logs, written in her natural hand, are also included. While the first entry — a trip to Absalom’s Ivy District — does indeed match with the letters’ indication of Zarta’s supposed treasonous activities, the second entry proves the paracountess was away from Absalom during a time the letters claim she
met with her conspirators in the Petal District.
"Imperial Security: Dossiers"
Kraang Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Kraang is more thorough and methodical - taking considered time as he works through the documents. He finds a number of files on various Intelligence and Counter Intelligence assets but nothing pertaining to Zarta.
His search takes 5 minutes before he is confident he missed nothing.
This section of the library is 'Faction Mission land' so nothing missed.
Svetlana and Hildergim, can you advise what shelves you are specifically reviewing? “Internal Security: Receipts,” or “Imperial Security: Misc.”?

![]() |

If nothing is of note on the easel then Jaysin will move over to the Receipts area and take a good look.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

GM Helaman |

Svetlana is also on 'Ye Olde Faction Mission Land'
Svetlana, sort of clued in for what she is looking for takes about three minutes of searching before she is convinced there is nothing to be found in that section relevant to the situation.
Jaysin on the other hand, like Flint, works efficiently - looking for the coded terms that mention Zarta.
Surprisingly there it is... after a minute of searching and her name not even coded! The rest of the data is though... it takes 2 or so minutes to do the letter shuffle required to decode it.
All in its taken you about 7 or 8 minutes through searching, decryption and combat... now all that remains to you is to get back to your original room... thankfully it *seems* you have a lot of time to do that, assuming nothing goes wrong.
I can't find the on-line translation page but Kraang did a good translation last time so I'll leave it to him. I recommend you guys discuss how you are going to make your way back and then give me your decision... I'm updating the time over on the Campaign page
As you are moving through the decryption of the code you hear the voice of Madame Li in your ears.
You have only 20 minute or so before the Ambassador moves to the waiting room... I've kept him distracted and will delay him as much as possible but I think thats the limit of what can be done.

![]() |

Kraang deciphers the Prisoner Receipt in a wet monotone growl.
Prisoner: Zarta Dralneen
If he is able to, he will try to contact Madame Li.
Is Tancred Desimire at the party?
What is/was through the double doors in the secret room?

GM Helaman |

No... does not appear to be, she says.
He is something of a power behind the power in the Court of Thrune if memory serves... he is not in Absolom if my sources are correct, she adds after a moment.
The double doors in this room are stoutly locked and appear barred from the outside. You'd hazard, given the nature of the contents of the room, likely also trapped and warded. You'd not be able to leave or open those doors and attempts to do so could have consequences.

![]() |

Is there anything in this room that would look like this Locker I(A)23?

![]() |

I agree, back the way we came. Let's just make our way back as if we belong here.

![]() |

Kraang is ready to head back if there is no other pressing business.

![]() |

That Kraang looks so strange, his impression, perhaps he needs to go to the washroom? Oh i have a good idea there. I´ll take a dump in the vent hehehe. That way the chelish will have a fine perfume when they study here.
Hildergrimm climbs the bookshelf to the vent where they came from.
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

GM Helaman |

@Kraang
Guys - got some work stuff that needs focus... will delay the next post a bit

GM Helaman |

You collectively crawl back through the tunnels in relatively short order, back into the secret office (takes about 2-3 minutes), thence take the servants quarters corridors back to the serving area outside the garden... there are servants about but not with the same degree of hussle and bussle as they are in other parts of the building.
Hildergrim boldy acts the role of servant, and leads you into the garden and through it.
This takes another 2 minutes or so, and this brings you back to the far side of the function.
The question is, do you balls it out and just brazenly walk back to your waiting room or try to be a bit more subtle about it?
Map updated

Jaysin will quietly stand guard as the group decides on the next course of action. He won't openly arm a weapon, considering where they stand now, but he will be prepared to act if the situation somehow turns dire.
Do we just walk down the corridor and back to the waiting area or are we to find our contact now?

Flinders watches Kraang for a moment then follows after. Catching up to Kraang, he steers him back toward the waiting room. Don't forget, we still need to meet the ambassador in the waiting room.
Perception to make it through the hallway: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Perception to make it through the hallway: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Perception to make it through the hallway: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Ruar walks through the hallway like he is one of the servants.
Perception 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19.
I don't recall precisely how we did that, so I will follow Flinders' lead / throw out some rolls and let the GM use or ignore them as appropriate:
Perception 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Perception 3: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Once in the little anteroom (where my roll20 token is now located), he removes the servant's outfit and drops it in the corner, so that he is back in the clothes he wore when the group walked in. He listens at the door before going back into the waiting room, Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26, then slips back in. Stealth?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

![]() |

Jaysin will simply follow Ruar, as if the "servant" was showing him the way.
Perception, if needed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
