Lara snorts in amusement at Anna's comment. Seeing that she's dropped the last goblin, she hustles north after Lynn.

"I think the goal with entertaining is to not be their lunch, Dreggar," she calls as she goes.

Move toward Lynn, then standard action to use Perception to look for any vials, beakers or flasks in the room that contain acid.

Nella smiles with satisfaction as she watches some of the beetles burn to ash, but her expression quickly changes back to one of mild worry. "Um, that was all I had," she admits, looking at the others. As Rose moves to aid Dreggar, the priestess quickly darts down the hallway and looks around. "Spread out so it can't roll over all of us at once!" she calls.

While the desperate pathfinders are looking for anything that might help them survive the swarm the alchemist's fire that Nella threw last round is burning brightly, consuming beatles at a steady rate. the flames are dying down and some more beatles are burned to a crisp.

With the last flames the last beatles succumb to the heat and you can breathe steadily again!

Lara breathes a sigh of relief as the beetles catch fire and expire. "I'm glad you had what you did, Nella," she says, holding her shortbow loosely at her side.

The archaeologist moves to the northern double-doors. Nocking an arrow to her bow, she cautiously opens the doors and peers inside.


Fiend series | Shackles

You move forward to a huge chamber that is entirely tiled with plain gray flagstones.It’s uncannily cold, and only a trickle of light slips through
a trio of tiny windows, one set into each adjoining wall, just below the eaves. The room is lined and partitioned with rows of massive stone cubicles. The cubicles stand twice the height of a grown human. Each cubical has an iron door with a brass plate on it. The plates are labeled and numbered with a black wax pencil.

Moving back to the room where you fought you take the right door and come into a room with a large furnace. Behind that door you enter a library, rows and rows of dark-lacquered mahogany shelves hold thousands of texts.

You take a moment to catch your breath here, waiting for other pathfinders before you move on.

Lynn watched the tendrils arc around the artifact in awe and a bit of despair. "How could someone make something so disruptive, how can they not think of the spirits."
She almost fell to her knees at the sight of the convulsing bodies, she thought she even heard the voices of those departed escaping from the device. She watched trying to determine the function of the metallic horror and how one might disrupt and otherwise stop it from functioning.

Nella enters the room and approaches one of the bodies. When she is almost there a tendril of smokey mist touches here! She jumps back in pain. 3 damage

Lynn recognizes the device as being the same that she earlier saw on the podium. She knows that it is a minor artifact and that it might be possible to turn it off. That might take the same skill as disabling traps or opening locks.

Well i'm sad to say given the situation i don't have any skills to aid in this part so I think we may be reliant on the other parties to solve this one :/

Lynn stood away from the device, holding her dress out from her she crouched down and prayed to whatever gods may be listening for the safety of those who were more experienced in dealing with these matters.

Looking up to Nella, "I'm not sure, unless one of us could suppress the magic to aid the others. Or if any of you have any experience in disabling traps. The only other option I think would to be to try and get around it. Unless..."

Lynn looked into the previous room where the library lay open and awaiting someone's eager eyes to peek at it's texts. "Let's check the books for anything, it is a stretch but maybe."

Lynn would rush back into the library and start searching over the books while trying to recall a name for the artifact or anything.

Lara frowns, unable to think of anything else. With a quick look around for other ideas, she steels her nerves and attempts to turn the device off.

She doesn't have trapfinding (yet) but she does have Disable Device. With lingering performance, she can cover 9 rounds of action with Archaeologist's Luck. Let me know how many rounds it takes to attempt to disable the artifact.

Lynn frantically dug through the books searching for something, the odds that anything on such a device were next to impossible considering it came from a different continent. But even if there was something on the nature of such magic it might help.

Lara and Anna work together on the device. Lara is so captivated in her work that she misses the ethereal tendril that is about to touch her! With a curse she still manages to keep her concentration. Although the tendrils are still moving about, they seem to slow down... Perhaps some more work at disabling the device might be possible?

Despite her vicious scouring of the shelves for anything of use Lynn found not a single word or diagram of this device or it's functionality. She returned to the room where it lay and her allies were attempting to bypass it and once again knelt to the ground to pray for them and the souls that were from the looks being tortured by this device.

"Cayden, I may not be one of your clergy but please hear me and grant safe passage to those who act here today. There is no doubt that we all wish to leave from here safe today so that we may celebrate in the festivities instead of reel from this tragic event. A new tale will be sung when next the city comes together, one of harrows and great deeds as many pathfinders an guards alike fought to keep their city safe. To this we will not remember the bad, but we will rejoice in the good that came after, celebrating those who are brave and risk themselves against impossible odds to perform good deeds."

Not that I think a 9 will succeed where a 7 failed, but Archaeologist's Luck does apply to saving throws while it's active.

Lara yelps as one of the tendrils comes too close to comfort. The archaeologist ducks and weaves, trying to concentrate on disabling the strange device even while she evades the ghostly tentacles.
