Loxley Geralt
Loxley looked between Sazzat and Zeldana, worried for a moment that tensions may be a bit tight. But she was relieved when the two seemed to be okay after all.
With it seemingly settled she waited for Yeda to settle the lid. With a arrow ready she followed the warrior with the others as they move towards the southern passage.
Sazzat Tamm
Tamm follows close on Yeda's heels, looking for danger.
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Unfortunately, the raccoon is distracting him by looking for food in his ear.
RIZZENMAGNUS
sazzat, you detect no signs of danger...except for an annoying raccoon that'll be the death of you if youre not careful.
on the map, i only moved Yeda, as she is the primary light source. i am assuming that everyone else is following behind her.
stepping into the hall, the light from Yeda's blade banishes the darkness, revealing a hallway carved out of stone, a planed flat floor, smoothed walls, and a closed door at the end. Off to the left, you see that the hall branches to the east.
Yeda, striding down the hall, stops at the junction and peers around the corner, taking in the sight beyond. The blue hue casts an etheral glow upon the rocks and stones that make up a short hallway, opening through a portal into another room.
Yeda Wolfspirit
Yeda shrugs and turns to the left. B10
Yeda Wolfspirit
Okay, so that's progress. Let's go quickly check this other room before we decsend
She backs up to the junction and tries the south passage and door.
Loxley Geralt
Keeping in the light of the two weapons ahead of her, Loxley held her bow ready. She tensed her fingers as Yeda moves to open the doors at the end of the hall. The bowstring growing taut as she drew in back in anticipation.
Yeda Wolfspirit
Yes, I can see. she responses with an annoyed, withering tone.
The bloodrager throws the door open and stands still for a moment with her sword held out in front of her.
RIZZENMAGNUS
and....
the door swings open, revealing a strange room.
This strange room is a fifteen-foot diameter sphere. Several objects float in the room, spinning lazily in the space- a ragged book, a scroll, a bottle of wine, a dead raven surrounded by a halo of floating and writhing maggots, and a twisted iron wand with a forked tip. Yet perhaps the most unnerving aspect of the room is the walls, for they are plated in sheets of strange red metal that ripple every once in a while with silent black electricity that seems to coalesce into strange runes, or even words far too often for the effect to be chance.
Yeda Wolfspirit
Yeda stares in awe at the room. Her eyes follow various spinning objects on their paths around the room. She snaps back to focus and backs up to let Tamm scan the room.
Loxley Geralt
From her spot a few feet behind Sazzat, Loxley can’t quite make out the room’s interior. But the reactions of the other two don’t seem to concerned. With neither yelling or rushing in she allowed herself to gently ease the tension from the bowstring and lower the bow.
”What is it? What do you see?”
She asks in a slightly lowered voice.
Sazzat Tamm
"This room reeks of magic." Tamm tells the others.
"The walls, the electricity, the book and wand...."
"Everything except the maggots and the dead bird." He finishes.
He pulls a rope from his bag and ties it around his waist, handing the trailing end to Yeda.
He plucks the protesting raccoon off his shoulder and sets it on the floor.
"If this goes wrong, pull me back out of there." he says.
Then he gingerly steps into the weird spherical room and retrieves the book.
Let's see what happens.
Yeda Wolfspirit
Yeda gets an exasperated look as Tamm steps into the room. and off the edge too? Is it a full sphere including depth under the entrance?
Wait? What?!
After taking the end of the rope from him she takes her sword hand and gathers up a section of the rope further down, grasping it along with the sword handle, for better leverage should she need it.
Zeldana Dardlara Amaria
Zeldana nervously toyed with her cards as Tamm spoke. When he set the raccoon down, Zeldana swiped up little Bandit. "Calm now, don't worry. He'll be okay." She told the little creature trying to comfort it.
RIZZENMAGNUS
stepping into the room, sazzat...floats. He drifts lightly through the air, without resistance.
Sazzat can reach the book and the crow body, but the wand and scroll are just out of reach on the far side for the room. He's gonna need a push...
Sazzat Tamm
"Look at me! I'm floating!!!" Tamm says with excitement.
He grabs the book but avoids the dead crow.
The raccoon struggles in Zel's arms, pouting about not getting to join in the floating.
Corrin Whisperwind
He frowned as Sazzat went into the room it reeked of something to not be messed with. This whole place was weird though. He sighed and noticed that well he was floating... but going no where really.
"I assume those are important too yes?"
He asked no one in particular setting down his back before rushing forward torwards the room and leaping for the wand and scroll. He was either going to eat the floor or be propelled to the items and smash into the wall on the far end.
acrobatics long jump i guess: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 4 = 17
Yeda Wolfspirit
Ooh, ooh! Push Tamm while you float by Corrin!
Yeda cheers on as she holds the rope.
Loxley Geralt
"Eep!"
Lost in thought on how they could help Sazzat, Loxley was surprised when Corrin launched himself into the room, sans safety rope.
"Corrin!"
She tensed as she watched, feeling helpless.
RIZZENMAGNUS
So Corin makes a jump...
and glides right over sazzat, bringing corin to the top of the ceiling, bumping off the top gently and floating down towards the ground. As he gets closer to the ground, a gentle, subtle force, like a mothers warm hug, wraps around his body and slowls his descent. He aligns with Sazzat, and is easily able to reach the wand, scroll, and bottle of wine.
Corrin: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Loxley: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Sazzat: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Yeda: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
sazzat and Corrin, distracted by the...fun...of floating, fail to notice, but Loxley and Yeda catch the lightning form strange runes at more regular intervals as it cascades around the red walls.
So, who can read thassilonian?
Loxley Geralt
”Pull them back, pull them back!”
Loxley tries not to sound panicked, but she grips Yeda’s arm reflexively. Her eyes darting across the glowing runes, trying to interpret their meaning.
Not sure which would apply better.
Knowledge, Arcana: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Well I guess it doesn’t really matter which. :p
Yeda Wolfspirit
On it! the Shoanti replies dutifully.
She starts to tug with all of her might, depositing loose rope on the group. Just as Tamm pulls away she remembers.
Tamm! Grab Corrin before I finish so we can get him easily!
RIZZENMAGNUS
wow! i thought i posted here yesterday! sorry.
Sazzat easily grabs corin, and with the help of Yeda, both are pulled out of the room.
Sazzat Tamm
"Crazy room. I wonder how long that magic has been there?"
He examines the items and casts Detect Magic

Zeldana Dardlara Amaria
Zeldana placed Bandit upon Sazzat's shoulder once he had his feet under him. "Magic was the life blood of the Thassilonians. So very likely a long time."
"Oh here let me see what you found too!" Zeldana said happy to look over the items as well.
I'm guessing the book and scroll are written in Thassilon?
Loxley Geralt
Loxley knelt near the open doorway to the floating room. She glared at the glowing runes as they refused to cough up their meanings. Swearing under her breath she sighed and stood up again.
"Are you okay?"
Loxley asked turning to Corrin.
Yeda Wolfspirit
Hey... so these might be ancient Thassilonian scrolls and books? That's amazing!
She looks over Tamm's shoulder at the scroll, while absent-mindedly tucking rope back into her pack.
RIZZENMAGNUS
my understanding of identifying wands is a bit sketchy. is it the creators caster level that sets the DC for identifying the wand? Or is it the creators caster level plus level of the spell on the wand that is the DC?
ragged book: actually a book written in Abyssal.
wine: just a bottle of wine.
scroll: scroll of burning hands
Sazzat Tamm
My understanding is that it is the caster level of the spell contained in the wand. So typically CL1 for first level spells, CL3 for second level spells, and CL5 for third level spells.
"Does anyone recognize the language in this book? I can't read it, but it looks like something dark...." Tamm says as he flips through the book and shows it to the others.
Picking up the scroll he says "I've seen this spell before, it's Burning Hands. Zeldana or Loxley, do either of you want it?"
Then he turns to the bottle of wine.
appraise(wine): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
"I wonder what this wine is worth? It might have been down here for a long time, and people say it gets more valuable with age."
Corrin Whisperwind
Loxley knelt near the open doorway to the floating room. She glared at the glowing runes as they refused to cough up their meanings. Swearing under her breath she sighed and stood up again.
"Are you okay?"
Loxley asked turning to Corrin.
"I'm good... i think?"
He said simply taking deep breaths and running his hands along his body just in case. He was curious if something looked off about him to make miss Loxley ask that. He watched the others handle the things found in the room not getting too close to them as he regathered his pack.
Yeda Wolfspirit
Yeda watches her group pouring over their new finds and interjects.
So, Loxley, Tamm, Zeldana, all of you that can "see" magic. Is there anything left here of interesting or have we put off descending that other tunnel long enough?
Loxley Geralt
Loxley manages a smile at Corrin.
"I was just worried what the magic in the room may have done to you two. If you feel alright though, I'll take you at your word."
She turns back to Sazzat and the book he's holding. A quick glance and she easily identifies the the writing.
"It's Abyssal. I can read it."
She says stepping over to him to accept the book. Leaving Sazzat or Zeldana to give the room a final look over, and adding off handedly as she skims the first few pages.
"If no one else can use the scroll I can hold on to it. I can copy later, once we get back to the inn. Provided we don't need to use it before then."
She suddenly remembers something and glances at Sazzat.
"Is it already in your book? If not, it's only fair you have first dibs on it."
Sazzat Tamm
Now that the floating adventure in the room is over, the raccoon starts to make a mad dash to fling himself inside so he can experience flight for himself.
"Whoa.... little buddy." Tamm says as he grabs the little bugger by the scruff of the neck at the last second before he launched himself into zero g.
He places the protesting familiar on his left shoulder and scratches him under his chin to settle him down and distract him.
While he's petting the little guy, Loxley announces she's fluent in the demon language. At this bit of info, Tamm's eyes get a little wider and he shares a quick worried glance with the raccoon.
"No, no, no ... that's fine. I can copy it later maybe, but I don't know that it's really my thing." Tamm says casually to Loxley. "You're welcome to it."
Zeldana Dardlara Amaria
"I already know the spell." Zeldana unformed them. "So I'm good here."
"I promise I'll let you fly one day little guy." Zeldana said as she gave Bandit a scratch behind the ear.
"I think it is time to check the descending tunnel... Though we do want to be very careful when doing so. I'm worried about how long we've been gone."
Yeda Wolfspirit
When the others are ready... don't let me stop you from finishing any threads in the floaty room...
Yeda returns the the tunnel downward, returning her sword to it's position out in front of her. She peers into the darkness, and slowly starts the descent...
