Hey there everyone! I'm KingHotTrash and this it the character that I am eagerly bringing to the game. All of his information is in his profile and I'm -super- excited to get in on a Kingmaker game at last. Now though, to answer the questions of our GM...

1Q: Generally how often can you post?
1A: I am unemployed at the moment so I am able to post multiple times per day. When I finally get a job though, I'll be more than able to do a post a day, maybe two.
2Q: How much role-playing do you want from this game?
2A: All of it. I want all the roleplay. Seriously though, I like building connections between the PCs as well as the NPCs. I want my character to care if someone dies, not just miss the bonus they were giving me.
3Q: Do you want kingdom building to happen in the background or have it be the PC's responsibility?
3A: One of the things I liked most about this game was the kingdom building process. I definitely would like to delve into that. I would suggest that, if people like, we do a Discord channel so we can better organize kingdom-building and what have you.

Super excited to play and super excited to be selected. Thank you DM Greaek!

This is Sophia checking in. I will be getting my alias for the campaign setup soon, but I'm on vacation for the next couple days. For the three questions:

I should be able to post multiple times most days, and at least once every day.

I'm down for RP, but don't demand it. I should be able to keep up with whatever the group settles on and be happy.

The kingdom building as an active participant of the campaign appeals.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all next week when I'm back from my trip!

Hey everyone! Stoked to play this AP.

1. Generally I can post every day though weekends may be a bit slower. I'm on a PC during work hours and mostly on mobile evenings and weekends.

2. I like roleplay to the extent that the other party members do. I do enjoy the in-character ideological debates.

3. If we run kingdom building democratically it will take very long but I'm all for it. If we cant divvy up responsibilities or find an efficient way then I'm not against putting it in the background.

I think maybe we can do cycling decision-making to make it faster, everyone has a turn in deciding what is done for that phase.

We could use here to discuss how things go or Discord to sort things out. I've recently became a big fan of Discord for organization purposes.

I feel like not playing the kingdom building stuff and not playing political drama stuff in kingmaker is a waste, you’d be better off in any other AP
The kingdom stuff and the room for the DM to add intrigue is the advantage of the open world setting and the ability to be kings
I like RP, I built a character, not a collection of stats

Also I can generally post once or twice a day

Hello?

1. I can generally post daily
2. I love the role-playing aspect
3. It seems like the majority of the players feel semi positively toward kingdom building so i suppose we'll do it
--------------------------------------------------------------
1. Would the group rather use the suggested medium xp track or the fast xp track and have some beefed up encounters
2. Would the group rather have the group arrive at the starting place together,or arrive separately and roleplay the first meeting
--------------------------------------------------------------
I have a few house rules that ascertain to health
1. On a long rest you regain all health
2. Once after every battle you can have a heal check attempted on you,and you regain hit points equal to the check -10 divided by 5 times your level

Fast track+Beaf, it’s a play by post, it’ll be slow going as is

Hi there all!

I'm back from vacation and I've now got my alias up.

After OKing it with DM Greaek, I've switched over to a Grenadier Alchemist for Sophia. Mechanically there wasn't much different between my Daring Champion Cavalier and Dario as a Swashbuckler, so this should give us more utility as a party. I didn't have to change much at all for backstory, and plan on playing the character about the same other than combat and obvious alchemist things, but if anyone has an objection do let me know.

I'm fine using the faster track with tougher encounters. It'll let us see more on that side of the game for both what we can do and the fun we get to try to counter.

I would prefer to RP our first meeting given the option.

-Sophia Salinista

That is awesome for diversifying the group. I was all set for us to just be a swashbuckling band exploring the forests but that is very cool of you to do.

1Q: Would the group rather use the suggested medium xp track or the fast xp track and have some beefed up encounters?
1A: I am with everyone else on this; fast track with beefed up encounters. Will make things a lot more interesting. However, if it creates too much work for you as the GM, I'm cool with us reverting back to medium if it'll be easier.

2Q: Would the group rather have the group arrive at the starting place together or arrive separately and roleplay the first meeting?
2A: I think it'll be more interesting having us all meet in the agreed place of meeting. It may be intriguing if some of us know one another in one way or another.

Does anyone want to collaborate on backstories?

I wouldn't mind doing so!

To cut to the chase, Dario Zuz was a member of a notorious outlaw band that was in the southern reaches of Brevoy and into the Stolen Lands. Over time though, the previously vicious company of brigands became friendlier; they would let you live after they robbed you. This was entirely because of Dario's influence. He was attacked by the group's leader who felt threatened, escaped from death, and has been wandering a bit since.

Personality-wise; he wants to be a hero. Cayden Cailean is basically the best thing in the world to him and he wishes to embody that "heroic" archetype. So he could've been met dealing with thugs, minor monsters, in a bar brawl, all over the place. He is well-intentioned but the truth is that he is a bit oblivious; he's caught up in thoughts of grandeur all the time. Someone reasonable, attentive, and logical would counter-act his idealistic side quite a bit. In return, they get a friend who has their back no matter what with a sly, wicked tongue and an even more wicked swordsmanship.

Hmm, Marcus on the other hand was raised among the upper crust (or at least people who pretended to be, because they were related to those with power) so that doesn’t give me much of an in with you
But the Cayden worship will be nice for later RP

Marcus plans to open a bar to be his base of operations as the spymaster (while pretending to represent the merchants and businesses of the country)

1. Fast track all the way.
2. Let's RP the meetup.

Zelos is a cleric of Gorum, the God of Battle. He's seeking to prove himself in the eyes of his peers and his God by meeting the coming battles head on. To him, nothing is more glorious than the contest of strength and skill in combat. His main goal is to become a Legendary Hero of Gorum!

Zelos has some history with dealing with bandits and brigands. Perhaps he and Dario know each other and have bonded over their similar goals.

Personality: Zelos is bold, doesn't mince words, and never avoids an honest fight, (after all dying honorably in battle is no thing to fear.) His personality is loosely based off Iskandar from Fate/Zero, if you've seen it.

How many traits are we supposed to have? Recruitment said only one from the players guide.

Later i changed it to 2 from the players guidr

re-reading recruitment, it seems like its one campaign trait from the players guide plus one from another source, with the option for a drawback for a third trait. is that correct?

So if we want to have any of us with connections before the first meeting, Sophia is a member of a minor branch of the Surtova family, and it would be possible that Sophia would have met Marcus before she left her home. She's been training for the past year of so mostly in seclusion, and has changed a good deal since then, but they might have met in passing if you'd like.

@Zelos - I think perhaps our characters could've met earlier; him wanting to be a worthy hero of Gorum and Dario wanting to become a hero in his own right. The group of brigands that the Gorumites fought against could've been the one his family even belonged to at a time; they met first as enemies and then became friends through their journey together.

What do you think?

@ Marcus, sure, that would be one that she attended with her parents away from their estate. You would have met both her and her brothers (Trevan, terribly rude to anyone he thinks is below him in station, and Charles, quiet to the point of not being memorable at all; perhaps you don't even remember him at all.) Sophia was clearly proud of being a member of the Surtova family (and would have gone on about their genealogy if given the chance,) and her parents, but was also embarrassed by her brothers and spent as little time near them as possible.

Sophia would have been happy to talk about anything of depth, and would probably remember the conversations well if they got beyond the level of banal pleasantries.

@Dario Hows this for a suggested tied backstory: What if yes, your families group of bandits was the one that was attacking Zelos' Gorumite temple however long ago. During the battle Zelos as Dario sparred briefly, but something in the fray interrupted their duel. The two haven't formally met back up till the meetup when they are both chartered to the same exploration team at the beginning of the campaign.

So we remember each other, but get to actually roleplay the second crossing of paths. Dario can show his quick it in trying to talk down Zelos from the rematch. Then during the game they can bond over shared ideals and a friendly rivalry.

thoughts?

Those are, um, some bandits who can roll in combat as well as we roll initiative I guess. Just two questions:

Does Dario get an attack of opportunity on the one that moved all the way to me (and thus through a space Dario was threatening?)

And did the one attacking me really have the potential to crit on a 16? Or do I misunderstand something?

Right, that makes sense, thanks! So just the 3 damage then. Any thoughts on an AOO for Dario? I know he'd like to do some stabbing!

Yes he would get a stab of opportunity

The Exchange

Marcus was hiding behind the door, did they go around it? Because otherwise I am out of this fight
When we made this fight I thought stealth would give us a surprise round

Sophia Salinista de Surtova | Human Alchemist 1 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: None | HP: 11/11 | AC: 16 (12 T, 14 FF) | CMB: +0, CMD: 12 | F: +4 R: +4 W: +2 | Init: +2 | Perc: +6 | Bombs: 4/5 | Mutagen Prepared: Dexterity

So I'm no expert but even ignoring the door aspects it looks like Marcus took 8 damage there (with the first confirmed crit, but not the double which would have missed.) I'd expect a bard with 12 CON to have 1 or 2 hp left after that.

As far as a surprise round goes, we got less out of the setup than I had hoped for as well, but perhaps we can make the plan for surprise even more explicit for future encounters?

Agreed. Yes a surprise round wherein I could cast a spell would have been most useful.
