Darathys Kressen |
Darathys gives an appreciative nod to Thessaly and helps her pulling a Bookshelf into place.
GM Fuzzfoot |
You manage to build your bridge, and follow the tunnel to a living quarters fit for... goblins. It smells fairly nasty, and you search the room but find little that interests you. The only thing of interest here is a crumpled-up note from Melkorka to Vermund that reads, “Do your duty. Protect the lodge. Your insect interests come second to that. —Melkorka”
Kayanor |
Kayanor moves east slowly, and quietly, Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 and looks (and listens) for any sign of movement.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
GM Fuzzfoot |
Kayanor scouts ahead, and sees a hideously mutated goblin with a half-dozen vestigial limbs, a comically over-sized mouth, and enormous crooked teeth. This must be Glorifan. See the map for a picture. There also appears to be another goblin warrior. The north and south walls are choked with slaves chained to the wall. They look to be in pretty bad shape.
You can take a surprise round now, or you can go back and fill the others in, and then we can check stealth vs perception checks to see if anyone gets surprise actions.
Dulcinea de la Mancha |
I was waiting for Kayanor to let us know what he saw
Dulcinea practices parry forms as she waits, trying to fill the silence with something. She keeps her voice low as she sees Kayanor return.
"Did you see anything?"
Kayanor |
My apologies, yes, Kayanor relates what he saw.
"I see only the one strange one and a normal goblin, let us come down on them. HARD. Keep our magic if we don't need it. I'll open fire, make him come to us."
Kayanor waits until his friends are close by, and then opens fire on the strange one:
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Arrow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16 for DMG if hit: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3
GMFF, when you can (no rush) would you be okay with deactivating the Hydra's Fang thread?
GM Fuzzfoot |
Anyone else that would like to fire in a surprise round may do so as well. Please either do so, or simply state that you are ready and waiting.
The arrow hits, and the mutated goblin roars in anger as both turn to charge at you.
@Kayanor - I thought I already deactivated that thread, so please let me know if you are still seeing it...
Darathys Kressen |
Ready and waiting as well, greatsword drawn!
GM Fuzzfoot |
Did anyone look at the map before getting ready? You are not really in a good position to defend or attack, at least not until Kayanor is dead...
I don't really know where the snake is, but I would allow it to be in the other room and get an AoO against one of the foes.
Darathys: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Dulcinea: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Lini: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Kayanor: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Thessaly: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Titus: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Goblins: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Kayanor puts an arrow near the mutant goblins nose, leaving a bright read streak of blood on his cheek. As the creature charges, Kayanor notices that the wound is already starting to heal.
Glorifan approaches Kayanor boldly and opens his wide maw to bite him. But it is a clumsy approach, and Kayanor easily dodges it.
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
The assistant comes on a little more measured, drawing a masterwork short sword as he comes, and attacks. This one connects.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Round 1: (Bold may act)
Glorfan [red] (2 dmg), Goblin Assistant[purple]
Snake AoO?
Darathys, Dulcinea, Thessaly, Titus, Kayanor (3 dmg), Lini
Kayanor |
Kayanor looks around for his teammates. "Blasted Bollix!" He tries to backflip away Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14, but likely doesn't pull it off enough (Ready for the AoO) Regardless of the pain, he aims fast and ATK: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9 misses!
Ydresus |
@GM Can you add Ydresus on the map ? I was unable to add it myself :(
Ydresus took an attack of opportunity when crawling near the creature and biting it.
Bite (against the one who made its AoO): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damages: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 + Poison DD11 or 1Con Damage
Darathys Kressen |
Darathys charges forward with a furious battlecry, wielding his greatsword two-handedly and trying to hit the goblin!

Mwk greastword attack (+2 charge): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15
Mwk greastword damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7
Dulcinea de la Mancha |
"It's really quite rude to try to take all the fun yourself, Dar. How are our friends going to get to attack with you blocking the way, hmm?" Dulcinea smiles as she teases Darathys.
She dashes forward, ducking behind Darathys with a spin as he lunges for an attack, finally stopping next to the smaller goblin.
It looks like there's enough room to move from Darathys' square to the one I placed Dulcinea in, so she's gonna acrobatics past to avoid AoOs
Acrobatics to Avoid AoOs: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
Double Move
Thessaly |
Ah, no, I'd actually missed the map, aheh. Ah well.
Thessaly runs forward with her glaive, charging from behind Darathys.
Charge vs little goblin, reach weapon, cover penalty: 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 - 4 = 14
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Darathys Kressen |
"With a reach weapon!" cries out Darathys as soon as Thessaly charges from behind him.
Kayanor |
Posting Kayanor's turn now in case I'm gone when it comes around:
"What the hell is wrong with this goblin?" The question is to no know one in particular, but the elf asks as he calmly draws and fires his bow at the mutated creature: ATK: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18 for 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
GM Fuzzfoot |
Ydresus tries to strike the goblin as it runs past, but misses.
AoO Claw Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
As Kayanor tries to move back, he opens himself up for a swipe from Glorfan's nasty claws, but luckily he claws nothing but air. Kayanor fires back at the mutant, but it sails off into the other room. Titus takes the opportunity to provide some healing.
Darathys charges forward to attack the goblin (you didn't specify which, so I am assuming that you mean the bigger one), and barely slices his greatsword past the mutant's defenses.
Dulcinea manages a little more grace than Kayanor, and gets into position without lowering her defenses.
Thessaly brings up the rear, attacking the assistant, but unfortunately Darathys keeps getting in the way of a clean attack.
I think we have lost Lini, so we will proceed without her.
Glorfan claws Darathys twice, and snaps at him with his powerful jaws, but misses.
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
The assistant turns his attention to Dulcinea, but fails to cut her.
Short Sword Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Round 2:
Kayanor manages to make a clean shot this time, putting an arrow in Glorfan's shoulder.
Round 2: (Bold may act)
Glorfan [red] (14 dmg), Goblin Assistant[purple]
Darathys, Dulcinea, Thessaly, Titus, Kayanor (3 dmg), Lini
Darathys Kressen |
Darathys keeps swinging his greatsword with renewed fury, even as his wounds start bleeding. "Foul creature..." he whispers through clenched teeth. He unleashes a surge of rage, enhancing both his attacks and resiliency.
__________________________
Darathys enters his rage and attacks Glorfan, the purple one. If his first attack hits, he'll use his Cleave feat in order to try and hit the goblin assistant (red).

Dulcinea de la Mancha |
Assuming purple is still up
Dulcinea once more tries to dance around the little goblin...
Acrobatics to Avoid AoOs: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
...but her timing is off as she stumbles on a crack in the floor.
She lunges for the big, oversized goblin, but her sword clinks off of his skin.
Attack with Rapier on Glorfan: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Lini of the North |
Really frustrated that I keep missing the OOC sections of this module. The thread has been quiet in my campaigns tab since last Wednesday.
"He's even uglier than I expected." Lini says, wryly. Droogami weaves between her companions legs, nearly knocking them flat, but Droogami is put on edge by the unnatural creature, and his strike is unable to find any purchase.
Ride: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Droogami Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

GM Fuzzfoot |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
You guys did a great job describing your actions, so I won't recap.
Darathys cut deep in to Glorfan, but not quite deep enough to drop him. You already can see the wounds healing, however. Cleaving through the first opponent, he continues to do damage, striking the assistant solidly as well. The assistant also struggles with the poison now coursing through his body.
Both now know Darathys is the most dangerous threat, and they work together to attack him.
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Asst Short Sword Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
18 damage - can Darathys take that? I assume so because I think Titus just healed him....
Round 3: (Bold may act)
Glorfan [red] (21 dmg), Goblin Assistant[purple] (13 dmg/-2hp + poisoned -1Con dmg)
Darathys(-6 + 18dmg), Dulcinea, Thessaly, Titus, Kayanor (3 dmg), Lini
Lini of the North |
Argh, that must be it! So frustrating. The campaign tab isn't very Iphone friendly.
Droogami Flanking Bite: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 2 = 10 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Droogami Flanking Trip: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 2 = 11
Droogami Flanking Claw: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 2 = 16 Damage: 1d2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Droogami Flanking Claw: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15 Damage: 1d2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Used to taking his pray by surprise, or at the very least seeing them flee before his approach, Droogami seems on edge that this creature stands and fights, striking a felling blow at one of the strange creatures that his mistress calls "friends". Seeing purple's back turned, Droogami launches himself to the friend-creature's defense.
"Darathys! Oh, crap." Lini says, dismounting and drawing her healing wand. "Please don't bleed out please don't bleed out please don't bleed out..."
Dulcinea de la Mancha |
Dulcinea's brow raises and her eyes widen as she sees Darathys take a huge beating, but she takes command of herself quickly.
"Do not worry, Lini! These goblins should be down soon.
She continues her probing attacks on the goblin experiment, trying to find a weak spot to exploit. She does so with a bit more urgency now, though.
Attack with Rapier on Red (flank?): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Darathys Kressen |
If Titus healed Darathys before the attack, he's currently at -9 hp. Dying, but not dead yet.
Stabilize: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
GM Fuzzfoot |
Droogami does not manage to bite nor trip the goblin, but its claws to draw blood. Meanwhile, Dulcinea puts Glorfan down.
Kayanor (botting) fires another arrow into the melee, aiming at the assistant. Unfortunately, it flies past him without connecting.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 1 = 13
Round 3: (Bold may act)
Glorfan [red] (26 dmg), Goblin Assistant[purple] (18 dmg/-2hp + poisoned -1Con dmg)
Darathys, Dulcinea, Thessaly, Titus, Kayanor, Lini
Thessaly |
Thesaly doesn't say anything with Darathys falls but her jaw tightens. She swings again at the assistant.
Glaive vs purple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Gritting her teeth at another miss, she steps in and drops the glaive, drawing a stout club instead. She stands over Darathys's body so the healers have room to reach him, from behind her, and so the goblin will have to deal with her if it wants to hit him.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
The snake takes the assistant down!
Both enemies are unconscious, and I think Darathys may be healed above 0 now?
What do you do? Give me just 1 round worth of actions, please...
Round 4: (Bold may act)
Glorfan [red] (25 dmg), Goblin Assistant[purple] (20 dmg/-2hp + poisoned -2Con dmg)
Darathys, Dulcinea, Thessaly, Titus, Kayanor, Lini
GM Fuzzfoot |
OK, the mutant goblin is eventually damaged enough that the fast healing stops working...
GM Fuzzfoot |
Just to recap, in case it is too far back...
Other than the dead goblins, this room is full of crates of supplies. In addition, the north and south walls are choked with slaves chained to the wall, most of which appear to be tribe members from the
Lands of the Linnorm Kings.
You also find a small, unlocked wooden chest sitting in the northeast corner behind the supply boxes. Inside are five potions of cure light wounds, a wand of cure light wounds with seven remaining charges, and a scroll of flaming sphere.
There is still a door to the south.
Dulcinea de la Mancha |
Dulcinea stabs into the goblin's eyeball one last time, wanting to make sure it won't get up again.
She gives the prisoners an easy smile, lightly twirling her rapier before sheathing it.
"Let us get you all out of those shackles, hmm?"
She begins searching for a key ring that would go to the shackles on the slaves.
We can save our CLW wand charges and use the potions and wand we just found.
Just rolling a few charges from the wand in case someone still needs to be topped off. Not sure what HP Darathys is at right now
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Lini of the North |
"Droogami, heel." Lini commands, approaching her leopard and stroking it behind the ears. "Are... are you alright, Darathys? Let's help these people."
Lini isn't finding much use for her actions at present, so I wouldn't mind putting that scroll to use.
