Seelah, could you check these rooms for the presence of evil before I start touching things? Lavode looks around and searches through everything like he was a nib nose gnome. He will of course use detect magic in every room.

Ok guys, in the first storeroom we have some weird ancient Tahssilonian artifacts. I don't know what they are for or do.
In the second storeroom I think I found the entrance to the basement. I did not open it.
Hey in the pantry I found a hidden compartment. Aaigh! Gross! Lavode vomits on the floor and is shaken for 24 hours. There's a bunch of well preserved body parts in here guys. That's disgusting!
I found the real old lady's journal in her room.

Did we find everything already or should I still try to search for stuff?

Seelah will look around the area while everyone searches the various areas. She looks at the pieces, if pieced together, the relics depict the ancient Thasisilonian goddess Lissala. She doesn't touch them however.
She looks into the pit, which caused her comrades to tremble. She is disgusted at what she sees, but her faith and resolve steady her nerves immune fear effect, allies get +4 to saves with 10' of me :). She says a small prayer to Iomedae, to bring peace to the families and to help bring this Black monster to face his crimes. Whether it be Society judgement or His judgement.
We need to stop this monster, before more innocents die
Seelah is good

I did not pass the lingustics check.
Well, I didn't see anything interesting in these books. But you can take a gander at them if you want.
Then I guess we should head down to the lair of the beast.

EndlessForms |

Insert Psycho music theme.
Precisely. When this came out last year I remember hearing that the author was really into Hitchcock movies.
The party descends via the secret passage in the storage room. A wide tunnel stretches underneath the Doll House, with uneven wooden planks serving as floor, walls and ceiling. Stacks of crates, chests, sacks, bolts of fabric, and even a discarded love seat clutter this yawning corridor. On the western edge, a narrow set of stairs leads up to the Doll House (the stairs you just came down). Light spills into the dim chamber from an open doorway at the hall’s eastern end. The air is musty and putrescent.
The crates, chests, and sacks are filled with outlandish hats, gaudy baubles, and dusty wigs.
Several portraits of a stern-looking woman—the late Entrichtica Black—glare into the room. One painting portrays the whole family, including a young Chrysalis Black and four younger sisters. The girls’ faces in the portrait have been melted away as if by acid.
Piled near an open chest are several of Entrichtica Black’s journals. The journals blame young Chrysalis for his sisters’ deaths, and further accuse him of creating abominations in their likenesses to torment his bereaved mother.
In the center of the room sits a gnarled and bloated corpse, stitched together with bits of other bodies where its own organs have rotted away. This flesh golem sits unmoving in a moldering rocking chair, wearing one of the late widow’s stained dresses and a pair of slippers of spider climbing with a floral pattern. The creature is inert, and doesn’t respond even if prodded or attacked.
On the other end is a unique door resembling a giant doll's head with a disturbingly wide grin. It also bears an eerie resemblance to the woman in the portrait.

Brachus cast detect magic and takes a look around the room then proceeds to look over the crates, chests and sacks after Seelah gives the all clear.

"It seems there are some potions hidden in a secret compartment in one of these chests..I can't be sure but they seem to be labelled;four potions of cure serious wounds and four potions of cure moderate wounds.
Also there is a pair of nice flower slippers on that bloated corpses..they detect as magic, we might want to take those with us."
Brachus shudders (and stays as far away from the giant doll head as possible)
"I'm getting creeped out by this room, especially by that giant doll head grinning at us..after the day we've had so far it's even more unnerving then that corpse in the center of the room..anyone else feel the same way?"

![]() |

Seelah will cast detect evil and scan the room, entire room, even already looked places, and see if anything detects as evil.
May I have one of those cure serious potions, it may come in handy in the near future when we confront Black
Looking at Brachus, I agree, this place, let alone person Black is giving me the creeps. The doll head needs to be destroyed afterwards too, many of my childhood memories are now ruined

linguistics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 Success. Is there a date when the handwriting switches?
I think Mister Black is a few grains short of a sandy beach. Sounds like he killed his family and sometimes thinks he is his mother. This guys needs to be put down.

We'll say the potions were labelled.
No dates on the journals.
Just to clarify: the giant doll head is the door to the next room.

Well those potions may come in handy. I would like to carry 2 of the less powerful bottles for the moment, if you guys don't mind.
Alan, you want to use the slippers, it would make sense. You are probably more likely to sneak or climb than the rest of us.
How big is the room and is there only one exit besides the one we used to enter?
I didn't see any keys. Unfortunately, I appear to have used up my last scroll of Forced Quiet and forgot to replace it. Can one of you holy rollers quiet the area while the bruisers knock down the door?

If I may suggest? If you cast it on dagger or something similar we could take this area of quiet contemplation with us in our travels for as long as it lasts.
After Kudro uses her power to eliminate the sounds and Seelah starts pounding on the door, Lavode steps out of the range of Kudro's magic. He calls for some celestial help of his own for the group.
Nebeský dobrej vôle!
Bless, 5 minute duration, everyone has a +1 to hit and save vs fear.

![]() |

Kuduro takes her wayfinder in one hand, "This is my usual target." Kuduro then raises her holy symbol in the other. "Flaming Dawnflower, quite the path before us that we may confront Black and offer him Your grace to repent for all his evil!"
Kuduro casts silence on her wayfinder.

EndlessForms |

Excellent.
Kuduro silences the area (which means you don't get to listen to the voice of Black's mother shouting insults at you while you bash in the door) and Seelah bashes her way through the door in less than a minute (probably using Trusty Buddy).
Tangles of tubes, cords, and wires fill this bizarre room. Black, acrid smoke churns from dial-covered devices that buzz and bellow, and a thick green liquid bubbles within tall glass cylinders that feed a central device resembling a giant metallic coffin. The floor is densely carpeted with shattered porcelain faces and limbs, with glimpses of more organic gore amid the rubble.
The room is difficult terrain due to all the junk lying about.
At the far end of the laboratory, Chrysalis Black maniacally pours elixirs into the syringes that feed his latest masterpiece within the birthing chamber. He does not resemble his simulacrum at first glance, because he wears an old woman’s frock, a tattered grey wig, and grotesque makeup.

safe to assume Black is evil lol..Also, could Seelah have cast Divine favor, before delivering the last blow onto the door?

Edit: actually, I don't think you have line-of-sight right now Seelah. There's a giant machine/vat thing in the middle of the room. You can take another move action if you want instead of shooting.
The "other" on count #4 won't affect anyone this round, so here it is:

I think I am just able to see Alan around the big grey thing in the middle of the room direct line from my lower right corner to his..if not, please correct me
As an immediate action Brachus will cast liberation command at Alan (escape artist check with a +10 bonus) to escape the grasping tentacles.
I don't see damage listed after Black like your normaly do so just to check -> sound burst's save is only vs the stun, not for the damage, so he should have 5 damage (unless he doesn't take sonic damage)
