Kuduro tries to be as polite as possible while trying to get a sense of the man they are speaking with. "An interesting question Reemis. There seems to have been some inconsistency in the completion of this order and we were hoping that the paperwork on your end was in better...order. There was no maker's mark on either guardian, and we would like to speak with the creator. Surely a man of your organizational aptitude can be of assistance in this matter?"

Seriously! You can ask that after what you have done! Captain Heidmarch is quite offended!

Reemis' eyes widen in shock. Drops of sweat appear on his brow and he stammers, "Oh my! Problems with our work? Are you sure? I apologize sincerely if they were not to satisfaction. I apologize on behalf of the entire Golemworks. I assure you this debacle will be looked into thoroughly and that the Heidmarchs will get their money back should any evidence of tampering or faulty quality play turn up."
"Hmm," Reemis ponders. "If they possessed no maker's mark I will have a bit harder time looking into this. If you will allow me a momentary respite I will search my records for the artificer who was assigned the Heidmarchs' order."
Reemis leaves you in the meeting room for some time and returns scratching his chin, holding a piece of paper in a leather folder-Sheila's original order. He lays it out on the table and shows you that the document clearly states the quantity purchased, delivery instructions, and orders to be programmed into each guardian. At the bottom of the receipt is a scrawled signature from the artificer who marked the job as complete: Chrysalis Black.
Reemis says, "Now this just doesn't seem right. Black isn't the sort to leave his maker's mark off one of his pieces. Black is among the most promising members of the Golemworks' faculty and he holds his reputation in the highest importance. Come with me."
Reemis is clearly nervous as he leads you through a maze of workshops, warehouses, and foundries that make up the Golemworks, eventually arriving at a small wooden building he identifies as Black's workshop. "I believe Black is out getting some spell components and should be back soon." Reemis lets you into the office. "You may wait for his return here and speak with him directly if you wish. I'm afraid I don't know much more about the exact process behind the guardian's creation. Black should be able to address any concerns you have though."
Two exotic rugs cover the oak floor of this well-furnished “L”-shaped office. Several tables and chairs offer spots to relax after a day’s work, and a sturdy bar of cherrywood displays all manner of exotic drinks. A golem crafted from mahogany and other fine woods stands in the corner. Several of the chairs have thick leather restraints.

... Several of the chairs have thick leather restraints.
Just to be sure I understand. Several of the chairs are rigged to hold uncooperative occupants?
.Lavode throws his cloak over the head of the golem and says, Before we sit and make ourselves comfortable in those ‘intriguing’ chairs, let’s have a quick confab.
Lavode brings out his paper and pen to begin quickly writing a couple of notes that he hands around.
While writing and passing the notes, he continues to speak in a pompous and irritated manner. Obviously, the honorable folk of the Golemworks would not have intentionally cause the rukus that occurred. There must be some logical explanation or error. All we have to do is trace that back to whatever mistake was made and we can put this whole sordid issue behind us … He continues in this vein for some time.

Brachus nods at Lavode and casts detect magic then takes a look around the office. After a quick scan for magical auras he starts to take a closer look around.. making sure he stays clear of the chairs and the golem. He looks up with a start and a slight gasp. "Oh! I'm sorry, I wasn't expecting visitors. Pardon me for not arriving sooner, please come in."
As he opens the door, he is even more surprised to find that there are even more people inside. "Oh! Oh, I'm sorry, I hope I haven't kept you all waiting. Please, let me fix you all a drink." He walks over behind the bar and begins to remove clean glasses and pouring drinks for everyone.
"I'm sure you know that I am Chysalis Black but I'm afraid I don't know any of you. What business do you have for me today? A special order perhaps?"

"I am appalled that these things would have attacked so lovely a group of friends such as yourselves." He studies Lavode openly for a few more seconds. "I bet you get all the ladies, don't you? You are quite the handsome one. I've never seen such perfectly symmetrical eyes."
He looks back to the rest of the party. "Apologies. Back to the matter at hand: this is a serious allegation. Perhaps it would be best if I examined the guardians directly.
