Phos approaches the captive centaurs with caution, coming to rest approximately 15 feet away from them them. "We are sent here by the request of Nashota Bloodhoof, of the Cangarit tribe. We do not seek any quarrel with you and will set you free if you so choose, but would ask that you give us any information you may have on your captors."

![]() |

"Indeed, this is my First casting of this version of a normal Pit Spell. I am quite pleased with the Results. And we have taken little to no wounds ourselves. Wel done team. Shall we continue on? I'm sure these Centaur would perfer to return home quickly"

![]() |

Kyra waits until the party is gathered in close enough proximity to the captured centaurs, and assuming they are from the same tribe that the party has been working for, prays to the goddess for divine healing to mend the wounds of her companions as well as the captives.

"Aamiri, how is it coming with those steaks? You should know you can't tease a girl like that and not follow through!" She then turns to the party and adds, "On a more serious note, my guess is that we have alerted anyone else in these mines to our presence. My advice would be that we attend to our business here quickly and be off as soon as possible. My guess is that the leader of these brutes is still lurking ahead."

![]() |

Kuduro looks at Aamiri and Elizabeth, "Any healing before we move on?"
Oops! Was throwing up my response when you sent yours, sorry about that, didn't mean to step on your toes there!

![]() |

Elizabeth gives herself a quick once-over, "Actually, Aamiri, thanks to Kuduro's blessing, none of these beasties got me."
She walks towards the centaurs. "Nashota will be glad to see you guys."

The minotaurs each carried a greataxe. You also find a dark blue
rhomboid ioun stone amid the rocks. One of the minotaurs in the room carries a set of keys that unlocks both the centaurs’ shackles and the eastern door.
I also just realized that minotaurs are large-sized. Woops. That would have been a tight combat. When I make a GM mistake that benefits you guys I just move on but if I ever make a mistake in the future that hurts you guys I will make sure to roll the clock back and fix it. Don't hesitate to call me out if you notice anything. Just be nice about it ;)
The centaurs look relieved to see you, although they give you quizzical looks. One of them speaks up, "You know Nashota? We are of her tribe; we were captured some time ago. I am afraid we can't give you much information about our minotaur captor, except that his name is Dahruun and he is often accompanied by several fiends." They give a description that is good enough for you to make a Knowledge (planes) check.
They also provide you with a detailed description of the shafts beyond the door so that you can navigate to Dahruun's chambers.

"Before you go in there. . ." one of the centaurs pipes up nervously, "there was one more of us. If you could find him. . . well, we are too weak to assist or fight back and we are afraid he is too. Just. . . at least recover his body if it's too late. No one can hold it against you if it is."

The useless pre-gen cleric without a single point in Knowledge: Planes stands by to the side, scratching her head and wondering how on earth she managed to get to level 7 to begin with. Must have been riding a lot of coat-tails!
Kyra nods sagely...

Phos says to the centaurs, "Very well, you can wait her for us or you can make your back to your tribe. Will do what we can for your fellow."
He then turns to his party, "One moment while I gather some information. Your silence is necessary." He reaches into a pouch and removes a small wad of black fur, holds it in both hands, speaks a few arcane words and holds it to his forehead. When he opens his hands, the ball of fur is gone, but he appears deep in concentration. He takes the keys retrieved from the troll, unlocks the door at the far end of the hall, and opens it only a an inch, pauses then closes it again. He then stands still, staring at the door, as his Arcane Eye explores the catacombs within.

You also recognize, from the description and from seeing them, that the demons are Brimorak demons. They have boiling blood which can burn anyone causing them to bleed (by using a slashing or piercing weapon). They have DR 5/cold iron or good. They are immune to electricity and fire, have resistance to acid, cold, and magic (SR), but are also vulnerable to cold. They also have several spell-like abilities, including greater teleport and fireball. People often become sickened by their foul smoke-filled breath.

"Bah, Demons, unorganized brutes, if you ask me. We shall Deal with them Quickly. The key to being a good wizard is to always be prepared, I learned this important lesson from a friend of mine, harry. I shall cast a few Spells here to prepare us for the battle ahead"
I use my Arcane bond to cast Protection from Enery, Fire on myself. Just before we enter combat with the demons, I shall Cast Air bubble on Miss Elizabeth. This will last for 10 mins, and allow her to breathe normally in the cast of toxic Fumes. I shall also Cast Mirror Image on Aamiri for 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 max 8 images. This should make her Harder to hit. I'll make sure I have mage armor cast on myself aswell.

Kyra suggests a warning when they get close to the destination, as Phos now knows the location of their enemy. A few seconds to add some defense to the group would be handy.

![]() |

When the party is within a few minutes of the room, Phos will cast Invisibility and Mirror Image(1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 images) on himself.
Just before entering, Phos will cast Communal Protection From Evil (does not stack with Kyra's Magic Circle vs. Evil, but allows you to go more than 10' from her), then his second Haste spell on the party.
Edit: Phos will also use his arcane bond to cast Resist Energy on himself, giving himself Fire Resistance 20.

Elizabeth draws her rapier in her main hand and a dagger in her off hand. Feeling a sudden rush of fresh air surrounding her, she nods to the others to indicate that she is ready.

Following Phos' lead, Kyra beseeches Sarenrae for her protection and guidance. A brief halo of golden light surrounds her head and then sinks into her skin while her companions all suddenly feel more insulated from the warmth of the chamber.
Casting Owl's Wisdom on herself and Protection from Energy, Communal, on the party. Fire absorption, 84 points, 10 minute duration.
As the party prepares to enter the cavern she calls down another set of blessings on the party and herself. Kyra's skin erupts into faint blue flame as she begins chanting a prayer to her goddess.
Casting Chill Shield and Bless, figuring 3 rounds will tick off between the first cast and when the party makes their entrance. If this is incorrect, let me know.

Kuduro takes a few hairs she pulled of the minotuar, and invokes Sarenrae's strength to aid Aamari. Bull's Strength lasts 8 minutes.

Finally, Kuduro begins one last prayer...
"Loving mother, blessed Dawnflower, send to me, your radiant sun beam your great hound warrior that we may purge these demons from where they are not welcome!"
Summon Monster IV - hound archon - using my Genie Caller trait to make it CL 10, so he lasts for 10 rounds. I'll need a token on the map also please.

Solarious: Mirror Image is a personal spell so you can't cast it on Aamiri. You can cast it on yourself though.

Dahruun and one of the brimorak demons got 26 Perception so unless everyone can beat a 26 Stealth, there won't be a surprise round. It doesn't really matter because the initiative rolls are in your favor anyways.

Looking down at herself and taking a split-second to allow her mind to adjust to being invisible, Elizabeth quickly moves down the right-hand side of the chamber, making her way towards the demon and avoiding the gaping maw of a pit that Phos created. Double Move - thanks to Haste.

Kyra casts a spell but it doesn't seem to be powerful enough to affect the demon.

Dahruun calls out in a harsh guttural tongue and begins tracing seemingly random lines in the air while looking up at Aamiri. Aamiri suddenly disappears into an extradimensional space.
On escaping or leaving the maze, the subject reappears where it had been when the maze spell was cast. If this location is filled with a solid object, the subject appears in the nearest open space. Spells and abilities that move a creature within a plane, such as teleport and dimension door, do not help a creature escape a maze spell, although a plane shift spell allows it to exit to whatever plane is designated in that spell. Minotaurs are not affected by this spell.

3. Aamiri and Kuduro
4. Dahruun
Miss Elizabeth, Solarious, Phos, and Kyra are up!

I am absolutely insane...
Kyra moves forwards towards the demon, intent on lending aid to her allies, including the one that just vanished into nothingness. She reaches her hand backwards as if pulling an arrow from a non-existent quiver, chants a few syllables in Celestial, and launches her arm forward across her body. As it passes over her head a shimmer spear of blinding light comes into being and hurtles towards the demon to the left of the centaur prisoner.

Hm, forgot about having line of sight down at the bottom of a pit. Let me redact that action then. And I'll need to get creative to get out of this freaking pit. . .

The stone wall grows out of the floor of the pit and lifts him into the air until he is five feet above the regular ground surface, poised over what remains of the pit. Dahruun then leaps away from the pit and cuts off Aamiri from her allies.
Ha! Stupid Hungry Pit. . . . One of these days a bad guy is going to use it on you, you know.
