The man comes to his senses and looks a bit confused as he looks around the room. His eyes widen as he notices the blood on the walls and on his hands and, spotting the head of the man in the corner of the stall, he begins to sob loudly. Between sobs you can hear him say, "What. . . what is happening? . . . Sheg. . . . poor Sheg. . . oh no, Nigel. . . surely, the monkey's have got him by now. . . oh no. . . poor Nigel." He attempts to stand up, looking as if he wants to flee the museum.
Morvius Eruthiel
|
Morvius rolls his eyes in frustration and exasperation. "Hey! Listen to me. What happened? Kadarnik and Saldak said something about monkey idols and the mist. Who are Sheg and Nigel?"
| GM Mike Tuholski |
"Sheg," the man says, motioning to the head in the corner, "was the other watchman. My name's Maldroog, we were partners. I don't know what came of him. I blacked out but I fear the worst." He looks down at his bloodied arms and weeps a bit.
"Nigel, of course, is Nigel Aldain, the curator. When the mists came rolling in, well, I blacked out shortly after, but I just remember seeing Nigel carried away by a host of mad, slavering apes and monkeys. If you'll please, I've had enough of this place. . . " Maldroog then attempts once again to get up and flee the museum.
Quiven Glist
|
Where did they take this Nigel? How many took him?
| GM Mike Tuholski |
"They took Nigel down the hall. I blacked out just after that, I'm not sure what happened."
"Sheg used to carry his keys on his belt. I suppose the keys are wherever the body is."
All of you notice that stashed away in the corner of one of the stalls is the head of a man. In the hole of the lavatory, floating in the cesspool below, are various dismembered body parts.
Quiven Glist
|
I point to the remains in the cesspool. Rodgar, I think that is, umm, was, Sheg. Good luck finding keys in there, friend.
Morvius Eruthiel
|
"Hey, Rogdar, let's see if the keys ended up somewhere else before you go swimming. Maldroog, thanks. Go on home. We got business in the main hall, I bet." Worst comes to worst, I bet Quiven can climb down there.
GM Mike, was there any rope obvious in the supply room or the offices?
| GM Mike Tuholski |
Yes, you can find some rope in the supply room. However, if you lay flat on your stomach and reach into the hole you can probably get ahold of the body and pull it up without any rope, unless you've got some inventive idea not to you get your hands dirty. Rogdar might not care (especially in ape form) though.
Rogdar Stoneshield

Rogdar let out an audible groan as he moved towards the stalls. No stranger to grim violence, he lifted up the head, nevertheless wincing from the Vile sight
Rogdar grimly searches the area. Perception Check If Necessary

| GM Mike Tuholski |
The head is bloodied and scratched, but through the hole you can see parts of his body floating in the cesspool below. You can see a ring of keys attached to the shirt.
I'll give you guys some time in case you need to heal up a bit and prepare for the main exhibit hall. Tell me when you're ready to go and we'll get started.
Quiven Glist
|
As far as I know, Quiven is healed up and ready to go. I'll move when told to.
Morvius Eruthiel

Before it becomes important, let's settle the CLW potion issue. Since the whole party came to the temple, shall we assume that everyone bought two potions each? That is, each of us got 125 gp from the 500 gp that was left for us; Morvius put 5 gp of his own toward his temple-cast CLWs, and bought two potions with the remainder. Everyone else can track their own. Sound good?
| GM Mike Tuholski |
A long hallway leads to this grand hall, wherein the Blakros Museum shows off its finest collections. Mock vines cling to the walls and hang from the fifty-foot-high domed ceiling and huts of grass are strewn about the open area. At the center of this sprawling chamber, a miniature replica of a traditional Mwangi ziggurat rises out of the mist to a height of nearly twenty feet. At the top of the ziggurat, a rail-thin elven gentleman is strapped to an altar, his bare chest painted with strange sigils and monkey paw-shaped blots of paint.
Nearly 20 apes, baboons, monkeys, and other primates revel here, but a terrifying howl shatters the revelry when you open the door. The primates scatter into the mists, making way for their champion, a large ape of monstrous size.

Quiven, As the Ape hasn't acted yet you shoud get to add sneak attack damage. And yes GM Mike, I would grab the keys, heh, I thought there was some skill check I needed
With an almost manic grin, Rogdar charges the giant ape.

The Ape's fist strikes Rogdar's jaw hard, fracturing his cheek bone. The hardy dwarf spits out a mouthful of blood, grinning at the new challenge.
With another bestial snarl he moves up and swings at the creature.

Kyroden steps forward and swings his mace at the ape.

With a mighty swing to the gorilla's knee, the great ape falls to the ground, bleeding and unconscious.
Meanwhile, you see a large tree spring up where the idol was once dancing around.
You guys are up!
Quiven Glist

What do you make of all of this? Where did the idol go? Quiven will move up toward where he thought the idol was.
Quiven Glist

Quiven will search around the room for anything interesting or valuable. He still seems a bit perplexed about the idol/tree thing. Did we win? Where did the other apes go?
| GM Mike Tuholski |
As Morvius approaches the man tied to the altar, he can see that this man has clearly been infected by the mist which still permeates the room. He is frothing at the mouth and tries to bite and kick at Morvius as he comes into view.
There was a moment of silence when the gorilla fell but as Quiven walks about the monkeys and apes throughout the room begin to scream and to throw feces at the party, staying hidden in the mist, out of reach and out of sight.
Quiven: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
As Quiven walks near the tree he feels an evil presence but is able to shake the feeling off.

Rogdar, still panting, inspects the tree curiously. "I got no problem doin' some lubberin'. But s'pose we should wake up the elf first."
Suddenly seeing Glist's change, Rogdar rushes forward to hack the tree.

The tree is cursed! Its cursed! Its trying to get me! Still affected by the mist that invaded Quiven when we first arrived, he surely doesn't like the idea of having anything worse happen to him. Quiven will take out his rapier and attempt to destroy the tree in anger and fear.

Quiven stabs the tree twice, down to the center, and a groan escapes the tree as it quickly withers and dies.
As the tree dies, the mist suddenly disappears and the monkeys and apes strewn throughout the room pause in silence for a moment before hurriedly running out the doors, some breaking the windows and climbing through. All of the primates flee the museum in terror. Those of you infected by the mist regain your normal posture and looks (no more Mist-Tainted template!).
When Kyroden heals Nigel, he is incredibly grateful and gifts you all an incredibly ancient Mwangi spear that Chelish explorers found near the colony of Sargava during the reign of the expansionist Chelish prince, Haliad I. It would be worth a great deal to the Pathfinder Society and they'd hungrily pay to include it in their collection.
With the curse of Tik Taan ended, the Blakros Museum returns to business as usual (after some clean up). Nigel is eternally grateful and he now makes all of the Blakros Museum's cast collection available to the Society for study and considers re-petitioning for membership.
Congratulations, everyone! You have completed 0-05 Mists of Mwangi! Has everyone completed their faction mission? You can still go back and do so if you haven't already.
Also, some of you (can't remember which but I can go back and check) were infected by the vargouilles. Getting rid of that will require Remove Disease. You can get that cast on you at the nearest temple for 150 gp.
Quiven Glist

Outstanding, got two crits on a tree.
Quiven, seemingly satisfied that he has dispatched the evil, now takes a look around the room, searching for anything else interesting.
| GM Mike Tuholski |
Going back, I think Rogdar was the only one not infected by the vargouilles. Should I go ahead and mark the spellcasting down on your sheets? You basically have to get it done one way or another or else you turn into a vargouille and I have to report you as dead, which I really don't want to do, as fun as it would be to watch your characters' heads fall off and start flying around.
