Yep, I think holy water is fine to drink. You won't be able to use it as a splash weapon but you can still pour it on creatures (although that will provoke).
I have the map up already and I will move you guys into the castle tomorrow.
Jennix: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Miso: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Terflynn: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Zachary: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
EndlessForms |
Ah yes; you can certainly do that then. I thought it provoked for some reason.
Brinewall Castle is a large and intimidating structure. Although only two stories tall (with the exception of one three-story tower), the squat castle looks all the larger for its position atop the bluff west of the village, looming over the surround region with a commanding presence. The castle is built of gray stone, though close inspection reveals numerous different types of stone were used in its construction (as parts of the castle were rebuilt several times).
The caste's curtain wall is 15 feet high but no creatures appear to be guarding the walls as you approach the gatehouse. The gatehouse is a stone structure with a floor of packed dirt and numerous wooden support beams for the stone celing above. Two rusted iron gates allow access through the gatehouse, while to the north, a pair of wooden ladders climb to the roof above.
The gates are closed and locked.
EndlessForms |
1d100 ⇒ 50
The gates seem to be in poor condition and Jennix easily picks the lock and swings them open. Inside, sleeping while sitting against the wall, are two humanoid crows with oily black feathers, glittering eyes, and a sharp beak.
Miso Jirogawa |
Miso — who does not have Kn (local) — looks at where Jennix points, then back at Terflynn, who has studied this sort of thing more than any of them.
Terflynn |
Terflynn, a bit taken aback by the fact that these creatures apparently sleep with their glittering eyes open, catches Miso's look.
Kno(local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
"These are Dire Corbies of course. They can see in darkness. If they wake, they will likely tear us apart. Or try at very least."
Terflynn draws his bow, but motions for everyone to go around.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
EndlessForms |
Terflynn can tell that their eyes are glittering beneath their lids. Because their lids are closed. Because they're totally sleeping. lol
corby perc: 1d20 + 6 - 10 ⇒ (17) + 6 - 10 = 13
corby perc: 1d20 + 6 - 10 ⇒ (10) + 6 - 10 = 6
corbies: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Jennix: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Terflynn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Miso: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Zachary: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
c: 1d20 ⇒ 19
z: 1d20 ⇒ 19
c: 1d20 ⇒ 1
z: 1d20 ⇒ 7
The corbies begin to stir at the sound of the moving ranger, their eyes glittering open.
I'll give you guys a surprise round on them though.
Initiative:
1. Zachary
2. Corbies
3. Miso, Jennix, Terflynn
You guys are up with surprise round actions! Zachary can then take his regular round action after that since he acts before they do.
Miso Jirogawa |
That did not go as planned, Miso laments, before charging the one on the right with his (Stunning) Fist of fury. DC 13 Will
charge!: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 2 = 18
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
AC after charge is 17.
Zachary Chase |
I can't see the map, so if there is soft cover Zack will be 5 footing to try to negate it. If he is unable to just add the -4 to the attacks.
Noticing the creatures starting to stir after he steps on a twig, Zack attempts to quickly put down the creatures before they can make a lot of noise.
Surprise Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 (PBS)
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 (PBS)
Round 1
Attack 11d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 (PBS, RS)
Damage 11d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 (PBS)
Attack 21d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 (PBS, RS)
Damage 21d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 (PBS)
EndlessForms |
Jennix fires but misses his target. Miso charges in.
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Miso's punch seems to hurt the corby and then Zachary finishes both of them off with three quick arrows.
Out of combat!
EndlessForms |
The party does not find anything interesting on the corbies.
Stepping through the doors they were guarding (poorly), the party sees a barren courtyard of hard-packed earth containing clumps of tough-looking weeds, furrows in the ground as if made by taloned feet, and chalky white mounds of dung the size of human heads mmmmmm.
EndlessForms |
Ok, I'm back from traveling (for now). Where would you guys like to go?
EndlessForms |
As the party steps out into the courtyard, the doors to the left open from the inside (marked on the map) and two spiders emerge! Well, one of them looks like a giant spider but the other (FB) walks upright!
Jennix: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Terflynn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Miso: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Zachary: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
flatbelly: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
hunting spider: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Initiative!
1. Jennix, Miso, Zachary, and Terflynn
2. Flatbelly (FB) and other spider (HS)
You guys are up!
Zachary Chase |
Kn (Nature) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
"Looks like they already knew we were here. Zack says as he looses a pair of arrows at the upright spider.
Attack 1 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 (RS)
Damage 1 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Attack 2 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 (RS)
Damage 2 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Add 1 to hit and dmg if they are within 30ft for PBS, I can't see the map yet today.
Miso Jirogawa |
I do not know what this abomination is, but it must be removed, as the wind removes the morning fog.
Move action to load crossbow, standard to fire at FB.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Also, EF, please let me know when an hour has passed and Miso would need to recast mage armor.
Jennix Caerwyllien |
KN: nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
KN: dungeoneering: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Jennix draws back his bow and fires an arrow at the near creature!
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
EndlessForms |
Zachary is able to land one arrow in the ettercap. Miso is also able to put a bolt through it as it screeches in pain. The bolt appears to have pierced an organ. Jennix and Terflynn likewise put arrows into the ettercap and spider, respectively.
The creatures advance on the party. The ettercap charges Jennix and the spider charges Terflynn.
bite on Jennix: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 2 = 25
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
DC 15 Fort against poison or:
Dex damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
bite on Terflynn: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 = 16
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
DC 14 Fort against poison or:
Str damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Initiative!
1. Jennix, Miso, Zachary, and Terflynn
2. Flatbelly (FB) and other spider (HS)
Flatbelly: 23 dmg, -2 AC from charge
Spider: 6 dmg, -2 AC from charge
You guys are up!
Jennix Caerwyllien |
Jennix calls on his luck to get him out of his pickle as he drops his bow and draws his rapier, stabbing at the ettercap.
Fort: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 1 = 14
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
Miso Jirogawa |
Miso uses Acrobatics to try to avoid provoking an attack of opportunity and get on the other side of Jennix.
tumble!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Whether he avoids the AoO or not, he will strike at the upright spider creature once he is flanking with the Chelaxian.
attack!: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 2 = 18
damage!: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Terflynn |
Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Terflynn begins feeling weak, so he steps back and draws a shard gel, throwing it at the hunting spider.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24, damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22, damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Caltrops in that square & squares surrounding for 5 rounds.
Zachary Chase |
Zack steps away from the melee and fires two more shots at the upright spider.
Attack 1 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 (RS, PBS)
Damage 1 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 (PBS)
Attack 2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 (RS, PBS)
Damage 2 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 (PBS)
EndlessForms |
Jennix stabs his rapier into the ettercap. Miso moves about the ettercap and gives it a good elbow and it crumbles to the ground. Terflynn hits the spider with a vial and finishes it off.
Out of combat!
1d100 ⇒ 8
Just as the spider is writhing on the ground, a loud SNAP! is heard from atop the wall to the north and the party notices for the first time a catapult atop the building. Seconds later a large rock goes flying through the air but it sails overhead and off into the forest beyond.
Jennix: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Miso: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Terflynn: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Zachary: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
EndlessForms |
1d100 ⇒ 45
Another boulder flies from the catapult atop the wall, again flying over and beyond into the woods, but a bit closer this time.
Jennix Caerwyllien |
Jennix begins jogging toward the door to the west. Are we still heading this way or should we attempt to see who is operating the siege engine? He calls over his shoulder.
EndlessForms |
The party runs for cover, heading for the western door where the spider creatures came from. The doors are open and the walls of the wooden stable are gray with age and sag ominously, yet the building seems relatively sound. An old forge sits to the south, while five empty horse stalls stand to the north.
Miso Jirogawa |
Miso nods. I agree. If one does not wish to be a target, one should endeavor to make oneself less conspicuous.
