Alek Stormcrow

Alek follows along, very much at home in the wild lands. Cinderpaw follows along with a happy trot, clearly excited to finally be rid of the overcrowded city. "Well, I was once a logger by trade, until one day I got lost and found my friend there. We've been together ever since. I learned from the Greenfire Druids and the Fangwatch rangers." He leans down to pat Cinderpaw along the side. "I suppose a more simpler explanation is that we're hunters. We find those what need finding."
He nods to the halfling. "Sir Dydimus can attest for Cinder's effectiveness."
Sir Dydimus
|
Yup, Cinderpaw is a good puppy. Aren't you Cindy! coos the halfling as he tries to pet the wolf. Suddenly Dydimus stops and hold his hand up to the party, Listen... do you smell something?

Alek stops at Dydimus' word and begins to look around, along with Cinderpaw who begins to sniff at the air. "What do you smell, Dydimus?"
| G.M.E.W. |
Kind of, DC 27 to avoid being surprised (Cinderpaw auto makes it with scent)
Just to speed things along though next time I'll just roll the Perception checks, if everyone is cool with that. We we waiting on:
Iraldi: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
and Aravanshiel (can't make the DC)
Before anyone can figure out what is going on a low hisssssing can be heard coming from the bushes to the north. As everyone looks in horror hundreds of snakes come pouring out from under the shrubbery and flood the area around the party.
Surprise round:
Snakes move into Sir Dydimus, Alek, Cinderpaw, and Telos' squares dealing Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Cinderpaw yelps as the snakes bite at her. The wolf then leaps up and out of the swarm and runs off ahead of the party before turning to bark at her master.
Round 1:
Those in the swarm need to make a DC 12 Fort Save or be Nauseated (1 move action only) for 1 round

In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger!
Inspire courage!
+1 attack and damage
| G.M.E.W. |
The alchemist, panicked by the snakes moves west lobbing a bomb into the parties midst.
miss: 1d8 ⇒ 5
The bomb lands just short of the pile of snakes and douses Telos, Alex, and Iraldi in fire, along with some snakes.
Telos, Alex, and Iraldi looks like its 7 points of splash damage DC 15 for half.

fort save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Wounded, nauseated, and surprised, Telos withdraws closer to Sir Dydimus.
Can I use the withdraw action if I only get 1 move action? If not, I guess they get an AoO.

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Diving out of the way of the errant bomb, Iraldi manages to avoid most of the burn only to end up falling prey to the snakes as they nip at exposed flesh.
Batting the serpents away, he moves quickly away, a bit of a studder in his steps.
Moving 30 feet due north

Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Ref Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Not that the Fort saves matter... Because even if I make the Ref save, Alek is at -1 HP. Ouch... So he's at -5...
Round 1
Alek yells as the snakes are suddenly upon them, biting all over his exposed legs and even nipping at Cinderpaw as he flees the swarm. Before the hunter can react he is consumed by flames, causing him to fall unconscious, only to be bitten yet again by the snakes as they swarm over his limp form.
Stabilization: 1d20 + 2 + 5 - 5 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 5 - 5 = 19
Thanks to his years of living in the wilderness and the tough life of a logger, Alek is able to cling to life stubbornly. Cinderpaw lets out a mornful howl as Alek falls, growling and baring his teeth at the swarm, unable to rescue his companion.
Lucrezia-Mari
|
At level 2 you can take a precise bomb thing that will allow you to select out 3 squares that won't get hit with splash, but until then, not unless he moves.
Lucrezia-Mari
|
Other than that, you can hit the front snake and it will splash to snake 2, and not hit snakes 3 or 4, or Alek.
Iraldi
|
Swarms are usually considered one creature, but I've never seen one that can take spaces like what we have now. But more than likely you'll have to throw a bomb at a square in front of the snakes to get them with he splash
Sir Dydimus
|
The Alchemist launches another bomb at the snakes, this time careful not to hit his comrades and in a fiery explosion the remaining snakes slither off into the brush leaving Alek in a steaming pike of cooked snake.
Sir Dydimus rushes over and couple quick gestures and soothing words heals the hunter of some of his wounds.
2 Cure Light: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11
Well! exclaims the halfling, That was exciting! Can't say I'm ever covered in snakes before, but now I can! Pulling a wand and two potions from his belt he hands it to Lucrezia, as he also retrieves his own journal. Here, he says to the gnome, help out Alek and the others, activation word is 'Apple Biscuit'. I've got to write down exactly how it felt to be drowning in snakes while it is still fresh in my mind!
2 Potions of CLW CL 1, Wand of Cure Light Wounds CL 3 (8 charges)
Uncle Hubbub
|
I'd like a CLW, please.CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"Well, that was terrible! Praise Desna!"
Uncle Hubbub takes out a piece of parchment to pen an original psalm to Desna about how snakes should never target elves. All of his Pathfinder Chronicle reports are written in verses dedicated to Desna.
Lucrezia-Mari
|
Lucrezia happily bounces about to issue Cure Light to those that need it, but when she gets to Uncle Hubbub she approaches very slowly, like trying to get near a wild animal, contemplating seeing if Handle Animal will work on him, Is it okay if this lesser being comes near enough to you to give you a heal?
Those of you that need heals do the cure light die roll of d8+1. I don't want to miss anyone.
Uncle Hubbub
|
Lucrezia can totally approach Hubbub. :-) He's too engrossed in psalm writing.
"What rhymes with that sucked?" Hubbub wonders aloud to nobody in particular. "Hm..." He thinks for a moment, then scribbles on the parchment.

CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
I needed 2 charges of CLW to get to full health. I have my own wand, which I'll ask someone to use unless our sponsor is providing free charges...
"Swarms of snakes...I have not encountered that before, and would prefer not to again," Telos says.
"But we should keep going. Are we close, Sir Dydimus?"
Sir Dydimus
|
Oh, yes the cave lets see... Using his wayfinder he spins around a couple times before stopping and pointing into the distance. That Way! We should almost be there, few more minutes I think.
Sir Dydimus
|
If you survive! Warns Dydimus dramatically.
Alek Stormcrow
|
I always thought Wands of CLW were 1d8+1, nice to now that's not the case! Or is your wand purchased at a higher CL?
Alek jerks awake after Dydimus' healing. He looks down at all the dead snakes covering his body and leaps to his feet, swatting them away. Cinderpaw rushes over and starts biting at the reptilian corpses for good measure. "Thank you, Sir Dydimus! Seems I owe you one."
He then turns to glare at the alchemist who nearly blew him to pieces. "And I you a swift kick in the---" Cinderpaw barks at Alek, drowning out his next word. "Yeah, yeah." He scratches Cinder's ear, checking the wolf's minor injuries.
Alek is at 6/10 and Cinder is down 3 HP. I can use my wand to heal us up the rest of the way if we want to save charges on Dydimus' wand.
Telos Phane
|
It's higher caster level...also, though Dydimus was a player in a previous scenario, the wand he has doesn't really use his charges since he is an NPC here. I think we're free to use that.
