Jamila readies to snatch the charts from freefall, concentrating to both reorientate herself towards the ship as well as pull out of the fall once the charts are secure.

Targos continues to wing towards the flare, focusing intently.

Is the map accurate at the moment? I never moved myself 80 ft. Also @Rhyol: each map square is 15 ft. Did you really zoom that far?


Rhyol "fell" 150 feet, then 300, so I think so. I hadn't moved her token on the previous rounds because we didn't have the DC to change gravity.I might note if anyone has feather fall, she's about to have an unfortunate encounter with some floating rocks - but hey, at least she won't be floating around in nothing. Honestly if you can free fall where you want to go why do people use ships anyway?

Octaris ceases preparing a water blast. Instead, he pulls out his wand of tongues and attempts to cast it on himself.

He is unsure if tongues will help communicate with these creatures (as it won't if they don't speak at all, but he doesn't want to ask), but he hopes the spell will. "Just in case!" he mutters reassuringly to himself in Ignan--just to make sure the spell works.

But something within stirs restlessly, urging him to act....

Krakos turns around in all directions, extremely confused by the lack of any ground and the intention of these strange beings. He cautiously draws his bow.

Sorry, Krakos and I are both having trouble following the action right now. The Roll20 is kind of confusing. Are there any items that still require attention? Assuming no, then Krakos will ready an action to loose an arrow at any wyrd that damages one of his allies.

Sorry, I've been super distracted by the VTT con this weekend.

The food has been captured by Fizz. Everything else is accounted for, and Zephyr is communicating with one of them.

To speed things along, since this is really an annoying encounter to run or play, the wyrd communicating with Zephyr shows him emotions of calm followed by destruction, then confusion and chaos, and finally returning to the playful emotion he started with.
With a Sense Motive.. you realize that it is telling you the story of what happened here.

Ember gets a feeling that it would be a great story to tell later if she could say that she saved the day by convincing the wyrd with the food to give it back...

Ryhol can figure out how to get gravity back towards the ship and Jamila and Octaris can carefully help catch her when she gets close.

Once it's clear that there is no threat to the ship or crew, Octaris will help gather the items and put out any fires (literally). He looks a little disappointed that he didn't get to use his magic to save the day.

Ember moves to Sizz and attempts to sweet talk the wyrd using her best words. She even offers to leave some of the food as thanks for catching and returning it. Inspiring herself, and using Gallant Inspiration, she is rather persuasive.

The wyrds don't seem too interested in leaving their home, wrecked as it may be, but they give you a gust in the right direction. You reach the mysterious tower a little under an hour later.

Rocking and swaying ahead is a white marble tower adorned with golden reliefs of lightning. The thin ornamental bridge that once led to its double doors has snapped, and there is no sign of whatever once connected to the other side. The tower’s roof is entirely missing, replaced with a menacing mass of black sky shot through with shifting streaks of color. The scintillating mass struggles erratically against some invisible barrier above.

Entering through the only passable opening, you find an atrium, where the same shifting, colorful mass that emerges from the top of the tower exists as a 10 ft. wide cyclone that spreads outward to 100 ft. in diameter. Stone doors lead from the atrium to five different rooms and two small archways lead to small chambers.

DC20 Knowledge(arcana or planes):
The cyclone is a ward of some kind that preserves a boundary between the Plane of Air and the Maelstrom, a plane of primal chaos.


"Finally! Some ground! Let's see what's here..."
Rhyol cautiously proceeds.

Zephyr moves forward and looks at the column with consternation, but seems baffled by it. The impressions of the Wyrds and the basis of their mission make more sense, though, as he looks at the shattered roof. "Some cataclysm happened and perhaps this is its focal point." he mutters, half to himself.

He looks around, hoping the cyclone seems stable for now. "This looks like it could be what we came to investigate. Shall we have a look around?" He motions to the door to his left

If Octaris finds no significant hiding spots above, he will look in some of the rooms around him. Going clockwise, he passes B2 and spots little of interest. He stops at B7, seeing something in the room within.

"Hm. I hope it's not a puzzle...!" he murmurs to himself.

Rows of hundreds of silver pipes emerge from the ground in this otherwise unadorned room. A few of the pipes are capped with silver lids. Similar lids rest on the floor near the open pipes.

There is a brilliant blue crystal hovering in the air 5 ft. above the ground. It does not detect as magical, but strikes you as rather peculiar. You also detect a faint scent of fresh rain coming from one of the pipes.

Jamila floats over by the sylph. "The purpose of this room escapes me. Any thoughts?" Nothing in the area was familiar to her, in any of her experiences among the planes.

"Why not be daring and check what these things are for ourselves?" Octaris looks excited, but gathers himself. "It's, uh, science! Or something." He hastily grasps at one of the lids with his claws and tries to heave it up to no avail.

Jamila follows the mephit over and grasp the pipe with one hand. "And we appreciate your magely talents." She smiles and pulls the lid off easily with her other hand.

Sorry, my internet died for a bit. I should have mentioned that upon entering this place, Octaris puts on his mage armor and wizard hat. He then switches his Shroud of Water to shield him. (+2 to AC and FF)

"Why thank you!" Octaris nods at Jamila, embarrassed but appreciative. "It is good to have someone else so powerful with us today!"

He looks over the edge of the lid. "Hm, what's in here?" Octaris squints into the darkness looking for movement or contrast (with his 60 ft darkvision).

Octaris is struck by an odor of fruity incense wafting up through the pipe. He can see at the bottom magically preserved dried flowers and spices.


Rhyol somewhat cautiously looks into B6.

The room is filed with racks of every weapon imaginable. Small, medium, and large swords, spears, maces, etc. of mundane quality are spread through the room. On a pedestal at the far side of the room are a pair of bracers elegantly decorated with air-like patterns. A blue crystal hangs in the air.

Zephyr gets a whiff of different odors as he passes each pipe. The crystal looks fairly hard and you think you feel the faintest bit of static crackling coming from it.

Scarab Sages

Ember flits after Rhyol, looking into B6 as well.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
She casts Detect Magic on the bracers.
Know(arcana): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Sorry, forgot to mention this part:

"Ah! Fresh water! That is always a good sign, especially for a hydromancer." (Spelt "hydromansir" if you ask him, of course.)

Octaris curiously follows the scent of fresh rainwater. He looks for the pipe with the scent and looks down into it. If there is a pool of water, he might summon his familiar, Octoparis, to swim down there and explore.

Getting bored, Ember flits into the other rooms, before ending up in B3. ...assuming she doesn't see anything interesting in the others between B6 and B3.

If nothing else catches his eye and he sees nothing in the rainwater tube, he will "convince" Jamila to help him open some other tubes until he smells something exciting.

If there's nothing exciting to smell, he might turn to the non-magic blue crystal, hoping that it might be made magical after all.
