DM Debug - looks like you left us hanging with your description above: "...however the portals can still be". Still be what? Part of a decorative centerpiece for your holiday table? Used to defeat the Aspis once and for all? I'm thinking a complete description there might give us an idea how to move forward.

Mohok lowers his blade, rather disappointed not to get to use it on the damned robot. "Nice work, gang," he says simply. He glances at Desmond before saying, "Come on, you guys have been Pathfinders a while now, is it ever that easy? We just need to figure out what we've missed."

Mohok: I'll go with 'be used as part of a decorative centerpiece for your holiday table. Torrag's got the right idea, you still haven't seen Jethzerai yet. The end of the sentence was supposed to be 'can still be charged.'

Torag: I don't believe anyone in the party has guidance.

These runes seem to be a little tougher to gauge. So many of them are duplicates of others that it's hard to tell how many were supposed to be there to begin with.

Once you've decided what you wish do do in the room and have made a check of any sorts:
You do hear the sound of... a torch? The firebreath of a small dragon? The bellows of a forge? You aren't sure... but it's something odd.

Upon hearing the strange sound, Desmond prepares to make a last stand here, in the bowels of the Red Redoubt.

"Well, he might have set this place to explode. I'm going to finish fixing the portals, it might stop it." Van informs the others as he moves to the closest portal and starts trying to completely repair it.

Not sure what portal 4 still needs, or if there is any time to fix it, but that's what Van is focusing on. He'll take 10 to make things easier to keep track of.

Active Spells: Endure Elements. Resist Fire 10 if an hour has not passed since the first elevator. Karmoss Battery on belt might do something. Mage Armor (will renew from wand if an hour passed).

Let's see... scenario says it takes Tig-0 about 10 minutes to navigate the long hallway, I'll assume about 5 minutes talking to Tig-0 at the beginning, 10 minutes spent with the Azers, 5 minutes inspecting the fire safety room, and 10 minutes working on the portals before Tig-0's inevitable betrayal. That puts you to about 40 minutes elapsed once the fight with Tig-0 is completed, plus another few minutes of work on the portals after the fight. I'll call it 45 minutes.
Van: I'll put you down as fixing the runes since I believe Desmond tore out the battery.

Van goes and finished shutting down the fourth portal in line while Torag and Rakenlattle are having a difficult time switching gears from fight mode to fix mode in such short order.

Bearlooo and Mohok can each attempt one more skill check. I'll assume Bearlooo will be using strength, because if a Bear decides to use disable device I'll be awfully confused.

The sound of a strange bonfire or dragons' breath begins to echo in the room, and suddenly, less than a few seconds later, there is a loud CLANG that startles the lot of you, and the portals begin to activate! Well, at least some of them do. The third, fourth, and fifth portals don't activate at all, and the second portal begins a very slow start. The first and sixth portals seem to be building up charge at a rapid rate however.

Desmond and Torag, upon hearing the odd flames begin to cast protective wards on themselves, but nearly jump out of their boots at the sight of what has just made a grand entrance into this chamber!

Desmond, you get your first buff spell off. Torag, you successfully cast your protection spell. Everyone else can take one single action to buff themselves or others before I reveal your fates.

Rakenlattle follows Van's commands and runs over to the deactivated portal, only pausing briefly to glance back at the portal behind him. "That is very interesting, but I assume not good at all."

Aside from that, the gunslinger is already prepared as he can for what may come.

Mohok continues his truffle-hunt on the floor, rooting about for useful bits to repair the portals, but it appears the tastiest morsels have already been used up.

Hearing things begin to heat up, he lays a hand on his chest and mutters a few words, preparing for a fight.

Mohok and Balooo, frustrated with their lack of progress look up with confused looks as a vent grate busts open and a small group of creatures descend. Several small impish creatures swarm down along side one... bizarre sight. A red snake-bodied creature with a bizarre metallic band covering its eyes clutched a gray brick with a red button of sorts in the middle. On his back are carried a pair of metallic tubes that look almost like kegs, with a gout of flame issuing forth from each of them. In his other hand is what appears to be a small pistol, although it looks nothing like the flintlocks you're used to.

"You will all BURN!!!!"

Issue the shield marshal's legal judgement (destruction). Granting myself +1 to some attack rolls for until end of combat. Bonus can change later rounds. Draw musket, fire at Jethzerai. Move action to reload musket.

Despite his years of training with the weapon, it still sputters with no deadly effect. He spends a moment to quickly clear the jam to be able to have another chance to fire. He laughs as he applies the needed repairs, "Hadn't had this go cold after me doing a lot of ordering before."

Mohok is caught completely flat-footed by the flying salamander's ball of fire, but the potion he drank during the last fight helps him resist much of the damage. Frustrated that he's not as tall as the singing bear, Mohok pulls another potion from his belt pouch and drinks it down. At the same time, he feels Balooo's song fill him with powerful energy, and his eyes narrow, glaring at Jethzerai.

Move action to get out potion of fly, move action to drink it, five-foot step towards the jetpack-assisted fireworm.

Status: 67/76 hp, enjoying a raging song!

Does the Karmoss battery grant any additional fire resistance past the 10 from Resist Energy?

"Mephits are like the mosquitoes of the outer planes. They're just nuisances everyone hates." Van says with annoyance as his magical defenses absorb all the fire damage from the Scorching Ray that hits him.

Angry at being a target, Van moves closer to target the (green) mephit that attacked him with a Snowball spell.

RTA: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Cold Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 2, 3) = 18

If that hits, the green mephit needs to make a DC 15 Fort save or be staggered for 1 round.

Van: It grants a +2 to saves vs fire spells and effects, but no resistance.

Van's attack blasts the mephit out of the air! These mephits, calling the plane of fire their home, seem particularly weak against cold effects.

The slowest of the mephits decides to take a potshot at the large bear in the room.

Scorching Ray: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Vs Touch
Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 4) = 15

The portals that remained active begin charging up... The first portal erupts with a stream of lava that flows down the channel carved into the floor and begins filling the moat around the gate. Desmond and Balooo notice the flow quickly enough to not be standing in the channel itself as it starts up, but it's getting awfully hot...

The second and 6th portals haven't charged enough to begin the flow of lava, but gouts of flame and sparks issue forth, catching Torag in the blast.

Fire Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5

Rakenlattle, your gun is beginning to get uncomfortably warm to touch, and is getting hotter by the second.

Dropping the musket to the ground injures the gunslinger's pride and leaves him feeling he has lost a limb. Still he smiles, because this too was a new experience. With that he accepts Balooo's rage and flings a pair of daggers at the flying blue mephit above him. "Come on," he cries at them as he flings the blades. "Show me more of what you can do!"

Including point blank shot, reduce attack and damage by one if not within 30 ft.

Rakenlattle's first dagger makes a nice arc through the air, landing harmlessly on the ground as it finishes it's ballistic trajectory. The second however deals a grievous wound to the mephit above.

Jethzerai jets back and forth along the ceiling, pointing his strange pistol about. As he sees Desmond and Balooo standing over the channel of lava he smirks, and quickly raises his other hand. A blast of magic missiles issue forth, but these are augmented spells that pack quite the punch. Two missiles slam into Balooo and one into Desmond.

Balooo's Force Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 2 = 8
Balooo's Trip checks: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 211d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Desmond's Force Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Desmond's Trip: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Both Desmond and Balooo are slammed hard by the missiles and fall prone, exposing themselves to the molten hot magma.

The force blast knocks Desmond to the ground, but the lava dosen't harm him. In fact it invigorates him slightly. (0 damage from the lava due to fire resistance, and then I get fast healing 2, removing the initial damage)

Desmond stands up and sees the futility of throwing javelins. He instead moves towards the active portal, shouting his intent out over the din of combat.

"I can't get to them, but I'll try and shut down the portal with force!"

Stand up and move 20 ft north.

DM Debug - the green mephit is dead, right? Didn't want to take it off the map prematurely, but I think it's outstayed its welcome.

Mohok's feet lift swiftly off the ground as his potion takes effect, and he flies into the air at the injured mephit, Best Judgment flashing as he draws it over his shoulder! Getting into position above the little fire-creature, he slashes at it!

Van moves to the southeast in order to angle his last Lightning Bolt so that it hits both the red mephit and the jet packing Salamander. He also empowers the spell with his arcane reservoir.

Spending 1 arcane reservoir point to increase the caster level by 2 with the Potent Magic exploit. The bolt is angled up in a line to hit both.

DC 17 Reflex save for half damage.

Balooo: Without making a fly check you can ascend at half speed at a 45 degree angle. I went ahead and positioned you accordingly. If you would prefer to ascend straight up (still at half speed), you'll need to make a DC 20 Fly check.

Van and Mohok make quick work of the remaining active Mephits. The blinded one seems to be not a terribly major threat... Jethzerai's nimble reflexes help him avoid the brunt of the lighting bolt, but he certainly feels the effects.

The first portal continues its stream of magma which fills the moat surrounding the main gate. The main gate begins to hum and it slowly begins charging. A gout of flame bursts out of the gate, engulfing Desmond...

Desmond, I'll need a reflex save from you DC 18 or more lava exposure.

The second portal begins issuing sparks, coating Desmond in an incendiary shower.

Rakenlattle wants to for his musket, but recalls it on the ground behind him. He refocuses his mind, putting aside the rage to focus on combat before him. Given the distance, Rakenlattle draws his crossbow, loads it with a bolt, and fires once at the flying villain.

Switch from bonuses on attacks to +1 dodge bonus to AC for judgement as swift action. Stop raging. Step up and shoot Jethzerai with a crossbow.

Jethzerai laughs and spirals around the room as Rakenlattle and Torrag each attempt to bring him down. Rakenlattle's bolt strikes the jet jockey, but it is unable to pierce his armor. Torrag's shot fails to land a touch. The salamander hovers on the spot, points his strange gun at the flying bear, and opts to open fire.

The burly half-orc points his blade toward the salamander and flies at him fast, like an arrow shot from a bow, slashing at Jethzerai as he gets within reach!

Full-round action to charge and attack Jethzerai, flying at a 45 degree angle.
