I am not certain what squares the kobolds are in. I moved Takumi to the location I want him to move but not sure if he can. Takumi will delay his action to move after Kell and will act on the same initiative as Kell. I will make appropriate rolls to help move things along
Not wanting to lose the advantage, Takumi moves into the room, after Kell, in an attempt to keep the kobolds from closing off the passage.

Kell gives a quick nod to D’Novan before moving into the dimly lit tunnel. He slides sideways in attempt to provide enough space to swing Soul Crusher. roars
He approaches the first Kobold and attempts to push past him before trying to crush his skull. I assume he will take at least one Attack Of Opportunity

Kell and Takumi charge into the fray! They attack the kobold guards, but their attacks miss the mark. The kobolds react in kind. Three kobolds charge Kell, be the raging half orc manages to hold doff the attack.
Two others run to attack Takumi, they both manage to stick the ninja with their spears. Thankfully, they only manage glancing blows. Takumi takes 2 damage.

D'Novan, following the large former gladiator, manages to cleave one of the kobolds nearly in half with his broad sward. The warpriest leaves a deep gash in the lizardy things neck, it crumples being killed instantly.
Gabrielle, not about to be bested by D'Novan charges into the fray, actually cutting the yiping kobold in front of her literally in half, blood and entrails spray the area as her axe cuts clean through the formerly living kobold.
Mitchell follows the party, ready for action but content to allow his fellow companions to do the dirty work for now.

Kell and D'Novan attack he kobolds but the humanoids are adept at using their own terrain to defend themselves.
Remember all medium creatures take a -2 penalty to attack rolls due to the cramped conditions. Not sure if folks are applying that.
The kobolds continue to repel the attackers!

Takumi has an AC of 17 now that he has switched to using his Katana. I noticed the attacks rolled were not above a 15. Not sure if there are adjustments to ac as well as attacks for fighting in the cavern. I did forget to adjust his attack and will remember next round.
I also have a question about how many kobolds are left. Did Takumi kill one of the kobolds in front of him? His adjusted attack would have been a 17
Takumi-copmc
|
Brew, the adjustment to ac is due the upgrade to masterwork studded leather and a masterwork buckler. This raised Tak's AC by 2 points and the masterwork property reduced any armor check penalties. There is an adjustment to attacks if using both hands and Tak would lose the AC bonus of the buckler.

The three captives relax when they are convinced the party means them no harm. Takumi searches the corpses of the down kobolds but finds that they mostly carry just spears and clings. One of the kobolds has sash of what appears to be untreated wool. Takumi finds a key on that body.
The party sees that slaves are chained to the rocks with chains attached to iron spikes driven into the rock.
The slaves beg for their release...
One of the slaves, a young woman, speaks first. "Oh thank you kind sirs, and lady. I cannot begin to tell you of my dread. My name is Bophre Malak...I was a framhand in Belheim. A few months ago, I went for a walk a bit from town, to clear my head when all of a sudden, something tripped me from behind. I hears a bunch of yips and strange tongue. Next thing I knew, a bag was thrown over my head and I was carted away. I woke up...here. That was so long ago...months I think...my family must be terrified..." The poor woman begins to cry, trying to hold back tears, she is unable.
The other two slaves speak, likely to allow Bophre to collect herself. "Aye, same thing happened to us. My name is Carlo Bellathi and this is my wife Sela. We are merchants. We in Belheim selling our wares and were waylaid by those little devils on the Verduran Highway. Benn here ever since." The husband and wife cling to each other, clearly having trouble dealing with their ordeal.

Takumi produces the key found on the kobolds Let me see if I can unlock those shackles. We can lead you to the entrance of the caves so you can return home safely.

The key fits the manacles and Takumi easily frees the prisoners. Carlo answers Takumi's inquiry. "We sell religeous carvings and such. Fine wares, at least they were. I am sure those little cretins destroyed our stock!"
The party decides on their next move. Which way? Also, what do you do with the freed captives?
Kell Mox

Kell watches for signs of impending danger as D’Novan and Takumi free the prisoners. Once they are free and equipped for escape, Kell gives each of them 5 gold coins. Good Luck!
Okay boss, which way do you want me to go?
| GM Brew |
The captives looks at Kell apprehensively and do not immediately take his offered coin. Bophre speaks "Thank you kind sir, truly, but I...I fear we may not make it back to Belheim unmolested. I think we would feel better to wait for you to take us back, that is, if you were so inclined. We could hide here until you were ready to return. We do not want to be a burden but I fear the kobols...they would easily capture us again." Tears well up in the young maiden's eyes.
Ok to let then prosoners hang? Also, any choice on where to explore next?

I am ok if you want to stay here for now. I would suggest each of you take up a spear. The kobolds are less likely to bother you if you have the pointy end facing their direction.
Takumi looks to the group
Does anyone care if they stay?
D'Novan
|
Looking at the captives..... Living in a cave is not healthy for people and I am not sure the numbers of the kobolds or what other dangers that lurks in these caverns...if you wish to wait for us that is your decision. I personally you wait one terrain feature away from this play outside in the open air. These creatures are at a disadvantage in daylight...but if you wish to remain in the cave, you will need to be extra cautious, prepared to fight for your lives and disciplined enough to stay put until we come back. the decision is yours, but you need to tell us now, as we need to press on. Once you make that decision, that is the "plan" that we will accept in good faith to support you with.
| GM Brew |
The group decides to let the newly freed slaves fend for themselves while they continue to clear our the warren. As the fellows confer, D'Novan, holding the rear guard, hears an odd chittering of claws on stone. As he turns he sees a bunch of small red eyes glow glowing to the dark cavern...
