Next time you can take my charges
Thanks! Hopefully there won't be a next time!
I am fine with sending Skivane in.
Very well, let's move.
I believe the entrance is up top (West). I'll go second after Skivane. Ragnar up with me and Zartrel, Mumbly, and Kenji in back?
Jhon Doe
|
Jhon also wants to enter ;)
I´ll follow your friend, Zartrel.
Kenji Nishida
|
Kenji takes up the rear...
| GM Bold Strider |
This open courtyard is paved with flagstones and relatively free of debris. Statues ring the central open area, each depicting a tiger-headed man in a martial arts stance. Behind the statues are four sets of stairs. The stairs to the north descend into darkness, and the stairs on the south side once led upward, but have collapsed in a heap.
The walls of this inner structure have partly collapsed and range from 15 to 30 feet high. The remains of stairs on the south side that once led up to balconies above are now little more than heaps of rubble. In the two corners on the north side, intact stairs descend into the basement. The courtyard is open to the sky and has a flagstone floor, and most of the rubble here has been cleared away. Statues of tiger-headed men in a variety of martial arts poses surround the open space in the middle.

Kenji Nishida: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Something catches Zartrel and Kenji's eyes as two of the statues seem to animate as they enter the room. The tiger-headed men leap to attack to party with a resounding kiai!
Flying Punch!! @ Skivane-20 FFAC: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 + 2 = 10
Flying Punch!! @ Skivane-20 FFAC: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 + 2 = 25

Ragnar, not sure if you can move and shot in a surprise round. Nevertheless, if you enter Jhons follows you (with his player thanking to not face two AoO)
Jhons follows Ragnar to the inside of the building, picking his rapier and attacking one of the statues.

Jhon also wants to enter ;)
Whoops, sorry Jhon!
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to keep botting Kenji, but with only a standard and where he is right now, I'll have him take a total defense if I'm supposed to use him.
Also, GM, I have reach and Combat Reflexes. Do you want me to preroll AoOs? If so, here's my AoOs if the statues move through my threatened area.

Move, provoking from Blue by moving around counter clockwise. Draw Flail as I go.
Free: Drop Bardiche in square I ended up in.

Zartrel

Assuming Skivane is unstunned now. If not ignore the rolls for her.
Moving behind Skivane Zartrel begins to use the store of magic from his wand.
Begin using Wand of Summon monster I. Since I used a move action it will consume my action next turn also.
Skivane

Skivane shakes her head as the stone creature clapped it's hands on either side of her hooded head.
She claws and slams he sharp skeletal arms at the blue statue as a low guttural growl is hear from beneath her robes.

The rest of the coordinated attack on the blue-garbed man kills him outright as the red-eyed monk tries to take down Jhon.
Flurry: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Flurry Misfortune: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Jhon parries the man's attack and stabs him, felling him easily.
@Zartrel: Looking at Eidolons. You don't need to take a -2 to your claw attacks. Claws are primary natural weapons and the penalty from Multiattack doesn't apply. That being said, Slam and Claws don't stack unless Skivane has 4 arms. The Slam Evolution specifically states that it replaces the claw attacks. So you can either claw twice or slam once. If you want three attacks, take Bite over Slam. This gives you Bite, Claw, Claw all at full BAB. (Does do one step less on the damage die, however.) Additionally, unless you are getting damage buffs from somewhere, your natural attacks should be doing +3 (17 Str) not +5.
Zuriel Heihachi

Zuriel stows his flail and retrieves his bardiche, holding his bruised arm out to Mumbly.
These men fight with great strength--I dare not proceed wounded unless I have to.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Another charge used. GM Bold Strider--can you please stop with the 20s? ;-)
Zartrel

Looking over Herolab. It reads that the claw attacks come from her legs as they can be applied to the legs only once. So I am assuming Herolab made the claw attacks from the legs and the slam from the arms replacing the claw attacks from the arms. Don't know if Herolab is wrong on being able to do that or not?
Claws (Ex): An eidolon has a pair of vicious claws at the end of its limbs, giving it two claw attacks. These attacks are primary attacks. The claws deal 1d4 points of damage (1d6 if Large, 1d8 if Huge). The eidolon must have the limbs evolution to take this evolution. This evolution can only be applied to the limbs (legs) evolution once This evolution can be selected more than once, but the eidolon must possess an equal number of the limbs evolution.
Slam (Ex): An eidolon can deliver a devastating slam attack. This attack is a primary attack. The slam deals 1d8 points of damage (2d6 if Large, 2d8 if Huge). The eidolon must have the limbs (arms) evolution to take this evolution. Alternatively, the eidolon can replace the claws from its base form with this slam attack (this still costs 1 evolution point). This evolution can be selected more than once, but the eidolon must possess an equal number of the limbs evolution.
As for the damage you are correct for some reason the power attack in play button was clicked on the program so when I copy pasted it over it had power attack already converted into it. I corrected it.

I can´t disagree with you Zuriel. Mumbly, can you use my wand on me? And on everyone who needs it, please.
2 charges of CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 4) + 2 = 12
Does anyone know what kind of guardians were those? And why a thief leader have two? Jhon is surprised of have had to fight with statues.
| GM Bold Strider |
@Zartrel: Hmm... the claws on legs thing in weird. I guess it works though. Very odd fighting style though. Having to claw with legs without flight then slam with arms.
@Zuriel: The dice gods giveth.... and then they giveth some more. At least when player death is a possibility. Just ask EF's girlfriend who died to a minotaur in a Maze spell with a greataxe.... :D
@Everyone: Anything else before heading down the stairs?
Zuriel Heihachi
|
I'm ready to go down the stairs. GM, can I please go second? So Skivane first, then me? Thanks.
Zartrel
|
I guess supposed to think of it similar to a velociraptor full attack with claws and bite. She does a small leap at their shins with her claws and slams them with her hands.
zartrel pulls out his wand of Infernal Healing as he takes a moment to heal Skivanes wounds.
Sorry about that, but would you please help us investigate this madness further.
He waves a hand down to the silent eidolon down the stairs.
| GM Bold Strider |
I picture more of a martial arts type thing where she uses her claws as she kicks. One or two of those tae kwon do hammer kicks followed by and overhead slam with her hands grasped together. :D
After everyone heals up, Skivane and Zuriel head down and find an interesting room for a monastery. This large basement room is set up as a workshop. Four workbenches are covered with odd tools. Three men and one woman work at the benches, each chained in place by a heavy iron collar. They seem to each be a using a large piece of parchment with runes to cause items to burst into dust and crystals.
Two men who look similar to the bandits on the walls are here, lounging while overseeing the workers. "Work faster!" one yells as you round the corner.
When you come through the door, they leap to their feet, clearly surprised that someone got past the archers and monks on the first level.
"Who the hell are you?" the gruff one with a beard asks. His hand fingers the hilt of his battleaxe, but he doesn't draw it immediately.
Zuriel Heihachi

I am Zuriel Heihachi, and this is Skivane. My associates and I are here to speak with Zamir about a business opportunity. Your friends above could have saved themselves a thrashing by first firing questions at us instead of arrows, but you seem to be a bit smarter. Can you take us to Zamir so we can give him our proposal?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
| GM Bold Strider |
"Zamir isn't paying us enough to die, but it sounds like you need something from us and we know Pathfinders get paid pretty damn well. A hundred gold pieces and we will make sure you get to Zamir safe and sound. What you do from there is your business." the bearded man offers. The clean-shaved man smiles and nods in agreement.
Jhon Doe
|
I think it´s better to kill bandits than to pay them. Fortunately for you, I also think a Pathfinder must act as the group decides. Jhon put his hand over his beltpouch. So, what the rest of you think, pay or fight?
Ragnar Northman
|
"I would not kill them, just knock them unconscious. But I'd try to get the price down, maybe the have wife and children to feed. Maybe we can 'kindly' ask them to find another job." Ragnar whispers.
Zuriel Heihachi
|
I already shelled out 20 gp to bribe the first bandit. I'm not going to pay any more, but if you five each pay 20 that would be 100. I leave the decision to all of you
My business is with Zamir, but my companions speak for themselves.
Zartrel
|
Skivane turns and approaches Zartrel as she holds out a skeletal hand.
He looks at her quizzically before it looks as if he gives up some form of unseen conversation.
She shakes her hand in an open palm.
Fine, Fine
He grasps at his pouch and produces 100 gp and hands it to her.
She turns back towards the bandits and approaches the lead one as she motions for him to hold out his hand. Her skeletal hand leaves the confines of her cloak and feel cold to the touch. She sets 50 gp into the man's hand as she reaches forth pulling the cloak from her face.
From the left side of her head is the face of a beautiful woman with light skin and blond hair. The lower right side of her face is the complete opposite as it looks as if a mighty weapon and fire removed most of the right side of her face and lower jaw. A loose tongue hangs from her mouth. Her eyes narrow on the man as she loosens her greatsword with a clang to the ground.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Trying to intimidate to lower the cost I guess but still pay them some to let them know we mean business
| GM Bold Strider |
@Mumblypeg: Any reduction in loot received effects you in the same way as paying the gold.
@Ragnar: You are standing literally 10' to 20' from the men. They can hear you with a good Perception check and you just said that you want to knock them unconscious. This is after Jhon basically tries to taunt them into attacking. If you stand by this, then we can go into combat. If not, we can go into negotiations.
---
The bearded man nods to his compatriot as he receives the payment of 50 GP, clearly unnerved by the weird woman. The man moves into the next room and the statue embedded in the wall begins to animate, threatening the intruder.
The man states "Wiffle", plainly and loudly, and the construct seems to power down. The man moves to the back of the statue and taps a few runes on its back before returning to the side of his compatriot.
"Two doors down. You have fifteen minutes until the construct is active again." the bearded bandit says before taking his leave with the 50 GP and his friend.
Mumblypeg
|
I was going to factor in the rough value of some of the items and roll it into a counter proposal to their counter proposal :p Moot now though as we have paid - If you'd seen 'Lock Stock and two smoking barrels' you'd get an inkling of where I would be coming from...
All good, lets just roll on :)
Kenji Nishida
|
Kenji shrugs... and smirks... "They were easily persuaded to take less... want some reimbursement?" he asks Zartrel... "I'm willing to pay my part."
Jhon Doe
|
Jhon offend the bandits because he thinks of himself as a hero, and paying bandits is less heroic as defeating them. Don´t wanting to cause problems, and I´m ok if at any time someone asks Jhon to shut up
If you think this is the right way to proceed, I´ll agree. I don´t want any wife or kids to starve.
Zatrel, let me pay this. You saved my life a few minutes ago. Well you, and Skivane, and everyone of you. It´s a little payment for your efforts, but one I´ll like to do. Really. I was thinking Jhon was going to die in the second fight. He wants to show gratitude for being saved, offering his wand cure his saviors, paying bribes if needed, and specially buying some drinks to toast for being alive and at home again.
Now we should continue, if we only have 15 minutes we shouldn´t wait for long.
Zartrel
|
Skivane throws her hood back up and begins to make her way down the hallway with Zartrel in the rear.
No need Zartrel says holding his hand up. I will take it out of Skivane's payment
Zuriel Heihachi
|
Well done, Skivane. You have avoided bloodshed from those honorless dogs, he declares, following behind her with weapon drawn.
GM--is the room we're in on the map the room where the two guards were with the slaves, or the room past the statue?
Zartrel
|
Hearing a short timeframe before the statue is active again Zartrel urges Skivane forward.
We best hurry unless you want you head crushed by stone again.
Skivane opens the door.
| GM Bold Strider |
@Zuriel: You were in the workshop with the chained up slaves. Zartrel and Skivane are in the room with the statue.
Zartrel and Skivane open the door to see a man studying your fake Scepter of the Arclords. A tiger rests at his feet.
This room is nicely decorated and comfortably furnished, unlike the rest of the complex. Cushioned chairs create a comfortable sitting area, and a large tapestry depicting a battle of dozens of dervishes in a bright yellow sandy desert adds color to the room. The air is scented with cinnamon and trophy heads and animal skins decorate the floor and remaining walls.
As you enter, the man leaps back and points the scepter at Zartrel menacingly. "What are you doing here?!"
