It most probably changes nothing, but my attack was to the rapier guy fighting Varian, not to the bartender surrounded by the rest of the party.
| GM Bold Strider |
It does change stuff! Noted in Gameplay.
Also, this guy's listed damage is a little low for what it should be.
He should be at +13 to hit and 2d6+11 damage per his stat block feats, abilities, etc., but his attack line says +12; 2d6+8. They forgot to factor in Weapon Specialization and Weapon Training, I think.

Well, in first place Insidion readied an action to attack the enemy once he had sight of him, indendently if that means the effect to end or the creature to be seen by any other means. The creature went out of the cloud at some point, and thus the triggered action should trigger.
Even if you consider the edge of the cloud being so thick it blocks sight as if far away than 5 feet, you are drawing the splash area incorrectly, because as a 10 feet area splash, it is not a square but a cross. Thus, there is no way the bartender can go into melee with Pandora without Insidion seeing the bartender and triggering his action.
See the map.

1) That's a fair critique, however I didn't draw the templates. That would be your fellow Pathfinder Quarr. From his drawn template (which wasn't disputed until just now when it is seen as a hindrance for the party), Insidion had a cloud between him and Larro.
2) I think there are arguments to be made for both sides of the total / regular concealment if only 5' of Fog Cloud separates vision. The spell specifically states that "The fog obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet." and there was 5' of fog between the two plus distance to and from the cloud. I can see GMs ruling either way on that matter, tbh.

The movers are here packing us up and the moving truck comes tomorrow - I will have no internet until Friday, though I might have it UNTIL tomorrow morning sometime - If I don't post til friday though, bot me as necessary please... sorry for the interrupt.

Can we pull him out of there before they kill him?
Any roll required?

About the paralisys in Hagrym, I am a bit confused with the 2/6 marking.
I believe only the longest failed paralisys counts, I mean, they cannot be summed up, isn't it?

It really does, at least it is a barely better state than unconscious >_<

Good luck, GM! That's a rough couple of days, trust me. Go to the bar Tuesday night and have a drink to gear down. Nothing crazy, but just a nip to help you sleep between nights. It helped me.

Hey all:
I will be on a 50-mile backpacking trip to Kings Peak in Utah until Friday, and will have no connectivity whatsoever. I'll return to my mosty-posty self thereafter.
Feel free to bot me, or other players can take actions for me. See you all when I return!
GL on the bar exam! I'm an attorney, as well. :)

anyone here interested in playing a deeper lvl of Thornkeep (at lvl 6/7) when this is over?
Quarr

possibly :) I believe I have played the first 3 levels so it would have to be later than that.

I like it. I don't know why but I was not expecting underwater combat on this and it just shut this character down except for his crossbow lol. I like when a scenario does that though. It really makes you think out your situation and humbles the character :)
Underwater combat is definitely a whole different animal.

Tactics-wise, idk what the scenario tells you to do or what the background motivations are for the enemies, so I can't really comment on you're doing. So much of it comes down to the tactics you're given to work with and the enemies you're given, and the enemies so far are a lot straight-forward melee guys that just full-attack. It seems like the difficulty mainly comes from the environment, so you did a good job remembering the underwater fighting rules. Getting paralyzed underwater is kinda terrifying. That said, I think your rolls are more deadly than the scenario :)
I'm honestly just happy Tristan is getting good use out of watersong for once. His original build got messed up by rules changes, so he's kinda all-over-the-place until he levels.

Seems good to me, dm. This is my first prolonged underwater exploration, as I recall. I'm just glad Hagrym has a spear!

I think you are doing great.
The barkeep was a little over-the-top hard, but I think that was more due to your crazy rolls than anything else. The underwater combat has been fun and interesting. Keep up the good work!
Pandora Soulkeeper
|
Yep, I agree the tavern keeper was a bit harsh and over-reactive.
As for the rest, I think you are applying well the rules, something I appreciate, as it makes a real difference on making scenarios challenging.
I hope there is a bit of pity remaining in your dice roller, although I have not been unlucky at all with my own. I hope there is no player deaths with so many 20s around :(
| GM Bold Strider |
Yeah, a lot of the difficulty with this scenario is with the underwater combat. This is the only fight with more than just melee dudes, which is understandable given the larger set of rules needed. It is weird how certain little things can shut down a build. My deaf oracle is completely useless when he has to deal with things like Clouds. Can't even hear my friends dying to send out a channel.
Sir Tristan Tilernos
|
Yikes. I never even thought about that with a deaf oracle. Considering how often clouds and such come up, that's gotta be rough.
Most oracles I see went the easy route and took burned and/or legalistic.
Sir Tristan Tilernos
|
Yeah. Honestly, you really don't need to go all-out when building in PFS, especially on something like a dual-cursed life oracle.
Fully cheesed-out characters tend to make things too easy, though it is nice to have a safety net in case things go south or in-case you get a really bloodthirsty GM.

Is the other Pathfinder we are looking in the ship?
I remember in the tavern we decided to go first for Darro then look for him, am I wrong?
If Varian doesn't pass those rolls, I can give him a reroll with Saving Finale.

GM BS - any idea how much longer this game will run? I have Varian signed up to start another game soon and gm wants an idea of when he's available. thanks.
