thanks (I hate trying to draft a post with my phone. You can tell which those are becaues they are so much shorter :) good luck
To clarify, we have one person saying take the guard to the tavern and another to take him to his allies. What do the rest of you want?

For the DrivethruRPG: There is the nWoD core book, Ripper, Little Fears, oWoD New World Order, and two more I forget off hand. Check "Contact US", "Free Stuff", "My Library", the actual "Halloween banner", "Reviews", "Hottest New Items", and the "FAQ". Most need to scroll down to th bottum.

I know posting from my phone (that died) and falling asleep mid-post (hit submit when I woke enough to see that I needed to move the laptop off my chest... :) made for some confusing moments. The beginning of combat also tends to be a bit muddled. My apologies for the confusion. This is where we are. A triggering event happened and a few others went before I could get those accomplished. I am trying to reorganize everything, even as new posts come in. I dinnae want to slow the action down, or discourage anyone from posting, so I am trying to work it in.
Maps moved towards the door, the guard slammed the door shut, Maps tumbled away (for simplicity: back to starting place at the bottom of the stairs. If you wanted to g--or to be--somewhere else just say so, tis fine. :). The Ulfen had readied actions. One: Bengeirr readied to use the lamp on an enemy (went off when Ignatious drew his weapon). Two: a guard to shut the door (went off with Bengeirr beginning combat) Three: a guard to attack pathfinder (went off when Bengeirr began combat.) Then we entered iniative and I got as many of those written as I could (ending with Bengeirr). Now I will try and finish the rest of the order of action. If questions are still out there please ask them.
| Curaigh |
It may not be obvious, but I tried to make the unconscious guard laying down... He is guard 1. Aram: Bengeir is in the loft, 20 feet up (& out of range for color spray.)
For round one: Aram, Barlor, Ignatious, and Fisbin need an action.
For round two: Maps needs an action (then the guards go, then everyone goes).
As an aside thanks Ignatius for the idea of using the profile for important info. I hope that my 'gender' link keeps the map handy :)

Sorry, I'm just still confussed at which point in the stated actions would my action actualy come up. It kind of seemed everyone blitzed at the same time.
As for the map, no worries, and welcome. It doesn't seem to, though I don't mind reposting a link every few posts, just to keep it close at hand. I think the link is too long, though you can also post it as part of the campaign info.
| Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Go now Ignatius/Beckett. Blitzing is fine in between the bad guys, I will sort it out in the fluff. :)
The link is in my GM alias, so if it not working at your end (it is at my end) please let me know.

Ok, I see it now, I was looking after your name, and saw the text peripherially, but assumed it was part of the avatar for some reason. Good to go.

There's not much I can do to Bengeirr from my position. Is the guard in the corner still kicking? If so I'd like to color spray him too, if I can as part of a standard action.

I just figured out how to do it on Google Docs, or Drive now. Essentually, you upload the map, then add images of all the characters, and simply reduce the size as appropriate.
When you save it, change it so that anyone with the Link can Edit, which will allow us to mve our pieces around.

There is a new Paizo Blog PFS Chronicle Sheet we should check out. :)

No problem. Did you get the PM I sent?
Also, a head's up, i just found out that these Boons are 1 per Player, not Character like I had thought. As the Boon is pretty much Wizard and Alchemist only, I'll get it from a DM credit and put it on a character that can actually use it, unless I get an answer on a question I'm waiting on.
PS Curiagh, this applies to those two Boons I gave you in th other game. I assumed that it was for any character you had that recieved the Boon, not just one, so if you need to switch it up sometimes, let me know.
| Curaigh |
I'm just waiting, really. I've posted a lot and want to give other's the chance to act or speak without hogging too much. But I'm still here.
One thing you can do to let me know you are still around and that you are waiting is to give a characteristic action. Galdur XXI, master jeweler, often looked at his rings or flash the emeralds in the light. Hozs, druid simpleton, watched the ants nearby. Not saying you have to, but it will add a little to the character and let everyone know you are still around.

I did, but the link does 'not exist'. am working on an update right now.
If there is anyone who would rather NOT get the Evocation Day boon, please let me know.

Ok the map link should go to the google doc, it comes up really small when I click on it, so this one should be accurate: warehouse map
DM Beckett

Ok, I finally got an answer. Only one character can have the boon, but the player can decide which one. So it does not need to be applied to this character, and everyone should get the Boon.
That's odd that the link doesn't work, et me try it again.
Also note, for the map "Ctrl" and "+" will zoom in.

Will folks be AFK for any extended times now that the holidays are here?
I will be at my folks for a week (23-30 Nov) & they do not have internet. I will have my phone, & if I am at a sibling's I can post, but it will be slower for that week.
Any one else? if so when?

I live in one of those matrix chairs, so I can always post.
Not really, but have an unlimited data plan, so close enough.
Strat Spineshank

One thing I'd recommend is a type of round summary. Something like...
Round 1
Aram (Does stuff)
Strat
Ignatious (Also does stuff, hits)
Pit Fiend (Stands there, yawning)
Barlor (Thinks about doing stuff)
Maps
This way it's abit clearer who's acted each round, and who still needs to. In this case, Strat and Maps haven't acted yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also no travel plans for the holidays.
Also, I might suggest at the start of a post wit an acton, using the Bold and Bigger codes to say
"Round 1, Init: 13"
which is just
"[b][bigger]Round 1, Init: 13[/*bigger][/*b]"
with no *
That just makes it easy to judge when that action is actually going off.
As a DM, what I always do for ease of play, is have all the NPC of the same "type" act on one Init count, except for a boss.
So, Guards 1, 2, and 3 all act on one init count, and Bengeirr acts on an init count. We didn't really get to see for this encounter if you did that.
I really like how you posted the Map on your DM character, that is a great idea.
What Strat did would be super helpful and not allowing characters to act until the next init.
btw good crit Maps.
I am not mad, I was just confused for a lot of this fight. I look at the forums almost twice a day.
Maps
|
That was a bad@ss crit. Thought for sure Ben was a gonner.
Regarding combat flow, I can suggest a couple things.
For the GM: Try listing enemy and player locations in a spoiler. Any player not mentioned is assumed to be out of melee and unthreatened.
Bad Guy 1 - unengaged, using missile weapon
Bad Guy 2 - at melee with Aram and Strat
Big Bad Guy - at reach with Maps, at melee with Fisbin.
For the PCs: State a primary action, and also a contingency action if you are confused. Example - Maps will move and attack Bengeirr. If not possible, then draw firearm and shoot at closest enemy within 20 feet.
Also, it really advances a play by post faster if the GM handles certain PC reactive rolls, such as initiative and saving throws. This way we all aren't waiting for someone to post before moving on.
One last thing, you might want to lump all all NPCs together when possible. That way, once they have gone, all PCs can go without waiting for an officisl new round or a separate initiative at a later point in the current round.
A good example of these in action can be seen in GM Mortika's games, like this one:
I have Cold Resist 5, so it takes 6 points to hurt me. Nonlethal damage will not kill, but if it is from environmental affects, it can not be healed until the target is removed from the affect. Typically, it is one ckeck per hour or per day (1 per 10 mins if extreme temp and no protection). Typically it is a DC 15 Fort Save with a +1 to the DC for every other check after the first until you drop from Nonlethal and start to die, but I am not sure about the particulars of the Curse here.
Ignatious the Seeker of Flame
|
Like I said, I should be fine for a little. If the dice rolls a 6, I will take 1 damage. Otherwise, none, (assuming it stays 1d6). I can not heal that damage, (assuming it is based off of Cold Weather), but I can resist it for a while. I' also assuming that since it is not hurting me (yet), I can not really feel anything, because it doesn't really seem to have any physical affect, (knocking my hand away or exploding). If it does, let me know and my character will speak up. :)
Ignatious the Seeker of Flame
Thats also sort of why, out of character, I did that. Would rather take the hit for the team than a lower level character who might actually be in much more trouble from it.
| Curaigh |
I am back from my trip. My parents' house is high enough on the mountain to have really poor 3G reception even though cel reception was good. I apologize for the delay, but am back now and ready to finish. :)
Thanks for regular postings while I was lurking especially Ignatious and his soon to be converted Aram :)
The new map should be working now too. You should all be able to make edits, so please add your avi (or let me know & I will add it.) The big blue boxes are hiding spoilers, avoid messing with those. :)
I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help in the next fight. I've used up all my 1st level spells, and my cantrips are pretty weak as you can see with that acid splash I tried.
I thought the GM wrote that you made a stop at an alchemy shop on the way back to the manor (presumably to get some bottled damage). Didn't take him up on it?
Yeah, he did. But he just said it caught my eye and then we were back at the manor. But I guess I could have bought some alchemist's fire at that time :).
Aram Barong
Aye Aram, if you want to the opportunity to get flasks was open. Cold weather gear also :)
But we're already in the dungeon now, right? Or can I say I did pick something up?
| Curaigh |
Aye, we can retcon* it in. At a table I could have been more clear or you could have asked 'do I have time?'. I might have seen you sweating or dozing instead of smiling. In PBP we have to make allowances for little things like that. :) Especially if you need this to keep to the number one rule: have fun.
This does not mean that you can purchase a crossbow or hire a henchman however, you specifically asked about flasks (as Maps asked about cold weather gear).
*not sure if I am using that word correctly. Any etymologists know if this really means retroactively taking an action? :)
