While the others do their thing Jimmy moves away, and sits on the edge of the pillar, feet over the edge, looking out to sea.
Jimmy sits at the edge of a 160ft fall into the sea. But the paladin is fearless. The view is awesome. The sea, up to the horizon, with ships as small dots here and there. And a nice view over the lower part of Magnimar.
From below someone shouts from the ship. But it is hard to understand in the wind.
Jimmy chuckles at seeing the people looking at the tower, he waves at them before pushing himself off the edge of the pillar.
He falls down towards the ship, but instead of crashing into the deck he lands gently next to the person who was shouting a moment before.
"We do indeed." Jimmy smiles at the man, and seeing as it is someone he hasn't interacted with before he introduces himself, "Jimmy Fiddle." with an offered hand
Jimmy does a precision landing in the crow's nest of the ship. Which is quite the feat as it is moving a lot with the ship rocking in the waves.
"Gav." the sailor introduces himself. "The captain wants to speak with you."
"Sure." Jimmy says before dropping out of the crows next onto deck. He then quickly looks around for the captain, and walks over to him quickly when he spots him.
"Ah, great. I feared you have forgotten about us." The captain greats Jimmy.
"We're done here. The ship is empty. If you don't need me to anchor here anymore, I'd let the crew have some fun and leave tomorrow."
"Only counting the passage we could be back in five days, but I don't think the Dwarves are that fast. They expect us a day later. Your magical unloading is really fast. Realistically we are here the same day next week."
"I guess we'll anchor at the same place and you come to me again?"
"Same day next week is perfect." Jimmy says with a smile, "And if you want to see fast, you should see the tower that has been built already."
"I will get a better view once we're further away I guess. Lucky me, that you have no way yet to magic the stones here directly. It's a joy to do business with you." The captain tells Jimmy goodbye and waits for him to fly off the deck.
And Jimmy does just that. White feathered wings spread out behind him and begin to beat at the air, lifting himself off the deck of the ship slightly before he takes off fully and starts to make slow spirals around the pillar, climbing slowly.
The captain shakes his head at all that crazy magic stuff. "Work's done. Go have fun. We leave tomorrow two hours after sunrise. First mate, hand out the salaries. I'll be in my cabin."
The captain leaves and the first mate does like told and soon the ships boat leaves - loaded to the rim with sailors - to the harbour.
Flying is not something Jimmy has ever tried before, but it comes naturally with the wings. He reaches the top of the pillar and does some slow lazy loops around the tower before dropping down in front of Gwen and Niamh.
"Whoa!" Gwenhwyfar jumps up as Jimmy comes diving in through the hole in the wall that shall hold a window later.
"The ship is leaving. They will be back next week." Jimmy says, wings tucking in behind him
"Where did you get that wings?" Gwenhwyfar asks awestruck.
"You aren't the only one with a few tricks up your sleeves." Jimmy replies. "Also, the tower has garnered some attention from shore already."
"Nice." Gwenhwyfar replies, getting jumpy. "When do you think can we have our first party here?"
"Like the one where we sold the statues, only cooler."
"A few weeks I would say. We need more than just this tower."
"We have a large amphitheater. If the weather is good?"
"That we could do. We might need some shade. I think it would be best to have the party during the day to show off the view."
"Going from late afternoon right into the night would be coolest." Gwenwhyfar suggests.
"But people falling off the pillar would not be."
"I keep forgetting that other peoples have such problems." Gwenhwyfar replies.
"Maybe if we add some lights on the rim of the theater?"
"We would need a railing and lights at a minimum. And probably a few guards to watch the perimeter." Jimmy thinks
"I'll leave the details of that to you. I'll talk to Mr. Burston, to get the party going. Maybe he has an idea how to raise some money for the rest of our plans."
"Sounds like a plan."
"What options do we have to get back and forth between our new home and the main land? We need to move our pillow castle over here." Gwenhwyfar.
"I was largely relying on your magic." Jimmy says, concerned now that Gwen is asking
"That allows for a few hops back and forth, but especially for moving it might be not enough." Gwenhwyfar replies. "Can we implement some mundane way of travel for that?"
"Besides a boat I don't think much would work." Jimmy replies
"Then we should get one. At least as a backup. Cna you handle boats?" Gwenhwyfar asks.
"I am not terrible at it." he says, "But I wouldn't trust myself to sail in a storm."
Niamh follows the exchange with narrowed eyes, hands stemmed into her hips. When there is a short lull in their exchange, she speaks up, loudly, giving Jimmy an irritated glare. "You couldn't have come at a more convenient time, could you? We were just practicing how to play the lyre!" Despite her size, she somehow manages to look down at them. "And if I remember right, you want to be able to play it so you don't have to rely on my planning of your home. So skedaddle! We're busy." She turns to Gwenwhyfar and gives her another narrow eyed look. "Sit, and try again!"
Gwenhwyfar sits down shocked and plays the lyre in defense.
"You're coming along nicely, Gwenwhyfar. Very good." Niamh praises her, all scolding forgotten. "In a few days you might be able to build a decent west tower!"
Jimmy leans against the wall next to the windows and after a while starts to hum along to Gwen's playing
"How long do I have to practice today?" Gwenhwyfar asks cautiously.
"When can I have my wife back?" Jimmy repeats the question
"Lets say we'll practice another half hour today and meet up tomorrow after practice, if that doesn't inconvenience either of you...? How long will the ship take to get back? One week? Two? So if you learn fast, you might be able to use the lyre already to build your home by then." Niamh answers, although she doesn't really look all that sure about the second part.
"We do still have work to do at the abbey." Jimmy reminds Gwen
"Yes, there is that too." Gwenhwyfar sighs.
"We have till next week for the next shipment anyway so we need to keep ourselves busy." Jimmy replies.
"But not today. I'm out of spells to get us there and we still don't know where Abomentolor and Tauriell are." Gwenhwyfar replies.
As the sensation of a tower growing into the sky on a broken Irespan Pillar reaches the Gilded Cage Tauriell becomes curious and leaves the establishment. Standing at the docks she wonders if Abomentolor's delusions of grandeur are the source of this. But as this new tower is hard to reach without the ability to fly or other magic, she decides to go for the other pillar Abomentolor occupied to find out about that.
"What? Someone builds a tower? In my city?" Abomentolor replies in a mix of unbelief and rage. "We need to investigate immediately."
Abomentolor casts fly on himself and Tauriell to go and check on whoever dares to build such a thing. He leads the way over the sea to the pillar. Flying above it he takes a first look at the grand stage and the lonely tower. He lands in front of it. "Looks like no doors yet."
Jimmy leans out of the window up the tower and calls back "We aren't ready for guests yet." with a grin
Abomentolor floats up to the floor. "Is that tower a challenge or what?" he inquires.
Gwenhwyfar comes to the window also. "Hello Abomentolor. Do you like the start of our palace?"
"Wanna play princess or what?" Abomentolor inquires.
"Don't know - maybe?" Gwenwhyfar replies. "You got an idea where I could get a dragon? To play damsel in distress, so Jimmy can save me?"
"You think it is possible to have a dragon as a pet?" she asks Jimmy.
