@Kidhir - You are currently in the Kodar mountains. The Tusk mountains are north-east of you.

Bah, the Red Mantis was probably named after our team. :P

As far as I know there aren't any red mantis assassins in this campaign… And i made it so there probably won't be any.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Okay now you're just TRYING to get us killed. Pissing Achaekek off is the LAST thing we need. =p

Also, I vote we be named the L337 SQU4D, if we're going for the tryhard award.

Maybe something simple like the "Specialists". Or the A-Team.

I vote for something in the line of the "Consultants", "Professionals", "Specialists". Because like has been said, we don't exist. So best not have a name that is actually known outside the rebellion.
And about Shadows as a name. That would make Hikage's name quite redundant. As it's Japanese for shadow ;)

For now you will be referred to as the specialists.

You all have a choice now. Would you prefer to be teleported by Simon or to travel by foot to the Tusk Mountains?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Probably teleport. It wouldn't make much sense for us to go the whole way on foot if the mission is as urgent as he says.

Just please don't tell me you put all the interesting stuff on the approach up. =)

Yep, Teleportation sounds best if it is indeed that urgent.

Teleportation was my plan, i just know some people prefer to have travel time.

I like travel... when it gives me the opportunity to level up. :D

Ok, i don't have anything planned for a travel time and no one seems super invested in it, so teleportation it is.

Female

Teleportation is definitely the sensible bet.

For if you would need to bot me :
Combat plan would be to use his musket in close ranged fighting and reserve the rifle for sniping from a distance. If really too close to fire the musket he will fight defensively with his falcata.

Billy, do you mind if we strategize in here and discuss the game? Sometimes it is clearer to hash out the convolutions of the scenario outside of "character speak" to prevent IC confusion.

of course

Sweet! OK, guys, how do you read the situation?

Something bad happened back at the base. Some group infiltrated but to what extent is the question. Was their purpose to take out Simon and us to get our Teleport Rod? Or were we supposed to make it through before they killed him and started giving us contravening orders?

I'm not trusting our furry host but I'm equally not trusting the woman on the link. Asking us to whack Vargo 'now' just reeks. We've got the skills to scope things out first and kill him later if needed.

GM only:
I'm not certain if you missed it, but I did communicate something back to the woman on the other side + was trying to get the same intel through her piece as she was getting through ours.

Well, one thing I'm quite certain of is that the person on the other side shouldn't be capable of reading our thoughts. Hence the person to person telepathic communication seems to be secure, as you guys also did not get the communications I got (which was person to person)

On the whole killing that guy. Get intel and then decide is indeed the best option. But at least we are warned that there might be trouble.

The problem with pbp is that you can't use your lucky set of dice. When I play in RL there is a very specific die of each type that I use.

Posting this here, as it would otherwise clog up the gameplay thread :)
Seeing as there is much confusion as to what is going on. I think a short recap is in order :
- We were sent to this area to gather information about the big army amassing here and hinder/slow down/destroy if possible.
- When we arrived we saw an enormous army camp (tents, cooking fires, people,...) and were greeted by one of the locals.
- At the same time, something happened at basecamp, our superiors are presumed dead.
- We were informed by the locals about the fate of our previous scouts.

What we have gathered so far about our mission :
- Army camp is located and is quite big.
- Our scouts and a local boy have been mauled and partially eaten by something of the army. The minds of those that survive the mauling get infected with something that slowly consumes the mind. If the infection is left to fester it would presumably turn one in a monster as well.
- The locals have sent scouts out as well, they haven't returned.
- The locals don't know what this army is, but want to know it as badly (or even more) as we do.

What we have gathered about what happened back at base camp :
- The brother of Vargo (one of the locals) had come to our camp with the mission of misinforming us about who/what Vargo was, so that we would kill him.
- If they could not convince us of doing this, they would have only 1 or 2 days before something happened.
- They currently aren't monitoring our headpieces, for fear of revealing more of themselves, this is being periodically checked by Hikage.

So from this, I think the best course of action is :
- Scout from a distance (when it is light so we can have a better view on them, as I assumed it was currently evening?) to figure out what disguises/appearances are best used to infiltrate the camp.
- Question Vargo about his brother and why his brother would want him dead.
- Afterwards infiltrate the camp and get intel.

What do you guys think?

Yes, I think Hikage has summed it up pretty well. The reason I haven't given you a lot to go on is you're supposed to be confused, you don't know what's going on. You are getting mixed messages from two sides and the locals are as scared and confused as you are.

Strength and Healing sound good to me. I'm correct in assuming that Blessings are Unlimited use?

For the record Shao, I'll keep track of the amount of uses the CLW wand still has left on my character sheet under tracked resources, but seeing as you're the only one who can use it without needing UMD, it's best you keep it on your person in game.

Male Orc Expert 5

I don't know how or why Berry ended up being foul mouthed and fatalistic but it happened. Must be channeling too much Revy.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

More Revy is never a bad thing.

Male Orc Expert 5

No, it's an awful terrible thing. On the list of anime characters I'd like to hang out with/bone if they existed in reality she is so far at the bottom she has ripped a hole through and discovered new levels of hell. Loved the show but there is maybe one or two characters in it I'd adventure with. :/

Well maybe if she didn't talk, or drink, or threaten to murder me every ten seconds.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

It's like everyone in this game is deathly allergic to straight answers. It's almost comical at this point. =/

I swear if her answer to "Who do you work for" is "The people who pay me" or something else roundabout, vague, or purposefully unhelpful, her skull is getting crushed between someone's thighs. And it might be Shao's.

It is supposed to seem like that.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

It just doesn't make sense to me from a logical standpoint.

"I want to help you! Just not in any tangible way, with any useful information, or...what was I saying again?"

It's a trope that has always frustrated me in fiction because when good portions of a plot can be averted by one supposed "ally" chiming in with a bit of info, it makes it seem like your "ally" is the real villain and you should have offed them while you had the chance. They're being dishonest with you, and might be collaborating with the enemy. At the very least they're withholding information vital to your success. If they give you no reason to suspect otherwise, and actively attempt to cultivate that impression...

But that's just me. I'm the kind of guy who screams at the TV screen while making "I AM THROTTLING YOU! TELL THEM SO WE CAN MOVE ON!" motions at characters who do this.

I'm also considering re-opening recruitment since Berry hasn't posted in a long time and there should really be 4-5 players.

@Rynjin - Without revealing a lot of secrets I try to explain why I'm doing it like this.
basically, I want you to be suspicious of the people you meet, I want you to have to role play around it. Your employers were seemingly done away with and there are several parties involved none of which you know much about.

Male Orc Expert 5

I understand that, and I'm not complaining per se or asking you change anything, just venting a tiny bit of frustration. This woman, with two sentences, has made me want to take the "direct approach" (knock her out, throw a burlap sack over her head, tie her to a chair and interrogate her so I can at least smack her upside the head every time she fails to give a straight answer).

Hey guys,

This is just a heads up to let you know that I'll be going on a trip starting Friday afternoon and coming back on April 21st. While away, I'll have limited internet access and my day/night cycle will be reversed. I'll try to post when I can but I can't promise it will work out well. So, feel free to NPC or DMPC my character as you wish to keep things moving along. Thanks!
