Well ladies and gentleman, a decision has been made. It’s been a very difficult decision, given the quality of all the submissions made. I can honestly say there wasn’t a single character who I couldn’t see having a place in the campaign. Click on the spoiler below to discover the five PCs selected.
Tibal Vyron – Halfling Bard
Dunagan Haarglick – Dwarf Cleric of Torag
Bonegrit – Half-Orc Ranger
Pyotr the Unwelcome – Half-Orc Paladin (redeemer)
Delkaneth – Human Bard (archaeologist)
Well done guys. Please dot the gameplay thread with your chosen battle cry, and drop into the discussion thread for some ooc chat. Also time to put the finishing touches to your crunch and create an alias for your PC if you haven’t already done so.
Really sorry everyone. There were some great submissions that I ended up passing over, and I really regret not being able to take you all with me, especially considering the time and effort many of you have invested in your characters.
I considered expanding the size of the party to include more PCs, but honestly this is the first time I’ve run a PbP and I didn’t want to bite off more than I could chew.
In particular, there were a lot of really strong half-orc and dwarf characters in there, and inevitably some had to be chosen over others. I seriously toyed with the idea of making an all half-orc party (after all, what better agents for a caravan master to take with him into the domain of the orcs?) but ultimately decided against it.
It also goes without saying that you guys will be my first choices as alternates should one of the five selected drop out.
I’ve said it before, but it bears saying again, thanks again for taking an interest in my campaign.
Happy gaming all!

Dunagan Haarglick |

Oh the suspense of the spoiler! It took me a few seconds to get the courage to click it and see who had been chosen, and what a pleasant surprise I found! Everyone had such great characters put forward and, to be honest, I am blown away that I was selected. Those who I unfortunately wont see in the gameplay tab, I wish you the best and I hope you find a game in the very near future that you enjoy.

Follow the Flood Road – Re-recruitment!
In the dusty square of the Freedom Town, Dierik Ironcoffer lies close to death, the insidious venom of a poisoned crossbow bolt seeping inevitably through his veins. Cradling his comatose master, the ever-loyal Second Master Santrian ponders the fate of their caravan, supposedly bound for the distant Realm of the Mammoth Lords, but barely embarked upon its journey.
A handful of brave adventurers, recruited before the caravan departed from Vigil, have only just begun to prove their worth. Will they alone be enough to save his Trail Captain? Perhaps, perhaps not. Santrian intends to use his contacts in the Freedom Town to find a few more ruffians or sellswords to join their ranks; they’ll be in need of all the allies they can find, for he knows it will be a desperate race against time to find an antidote for the toxin silently stealing Dierik’s breath.
Greetings! I’m Tadpole, DM of Follow the Flood Road, a PbP campaign that’s been running on these boards since February 2013, and recently hit 1,000 posts. Following the departure of one of our players due to one of those inconvenient real-life issues, we’ve decided to re-open recruitment. I’m seeking up to two new PCs to join our campaign.
Recruitment will be open for about a week. Most of the relevant character creation and campaign information can be found in the first post of this recruitment thread, with the following significant changes.
• Character level: 2nd.
• Wealth: maximum starting gold for a first level character. Not much has been given out as treasure thus far in the campaign, so you won’t be too far behind the existing PCs. You’ll be provided with a mount (in most cases a combat-trained horse or pony) free of charge after selection.
Current party composition is as follows:
• Bonegrit, Half-orc ranger
• Delkaneth, Human bard (archaeologist) / fighter (lore warden)
• Pyotr the Unwelcome, Half-orc paladin (redeemer)
• Pellius Fullona, Human magus
Although we’re likely to eye a healer or a full caster with particular interest given the make-up above, party balance isn’t of critical importance in this campaign. At core is quality of character is the benchmark by which submissions will be judged. If at the end of this re-recruitment this means we end up with two more martials, then so be it. As DM I can always tinker with encounters to exploit take into account the party’s weaknesses.
Players who missed out during the original selection process will be given extra brownie points here, whether they draw up a new PC or resubmit the old one. However, keep in mind some of the original concepts may not fit as well as they might have done at the onset of the campaign given the evolution of the story and the original PCs. Of particular note is that Lost Kin campaign trait has already been taken by Pellius and has become an important plot point in the campaign, another PC with the same trait might stretch credibility (though if the backstory’s strong enough it could be made to work).
On the other hand, if you’re a new applicant, welcome and never fear. In the end, it’s the quality of the character submitted that decides whether or not a character gets picked.
The current PCs are at present in the Freedom Town, which (despite the grandiose name) is a rather rough-and-tumble frontier town on the edge of the Hold of Belkzen, which manages to survive by any means (even if it means trading with its orcish neighbours).
Feel free to have a read of our gameplay and discussion threads to see if the campaign is one that might suit you. Hopefully the gameplay thread’s a fun read, but it is fairly massive, and I’ll shortly be adding a summarised ‘story-so-far’ post here in the recruitment thread to provide applicants with a handy overview.

The Story So Far
In the fortress city of Vigil, Lastwall’s bastion of defence against the orc hordes of the Hold of Belkzen and the insidious threat of Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant, the enterprising merchant Dierik Ironcoffer recruited four adventurers; Bonegrit, a half-orc trail guard, Delkaneth, a Chelaxian fortune hunter, Dunagan, a dwarven forgemaster and Pyotr, another half-orc; a warrior and ward of the Cathedral of Sancta Iomedea. Dierik’s ambitious (some might say foolhardy) plan was to lead his caravan north through the Hold of Belkzen to the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, to make a fortune on the ivory to hunted or traded for in that distant land. The four adventurers were to aid in the defence of his men and wagons, as well as bringing some unconventional skills and attitudes missing from his regular followers.
With Dierik’s help the four men procured fine horses for the journey. Impressed with Bonegrit’s skill at riding, Dierik asked him to ride his own steed, the magnificent Isabellina’s Arrow, in the upcoming Strander Stakes horse race. The adventurers learnt that Dierik had once been a hero of Vigil, but had gained notoriety for his unchivalrousness, eventually leading him to abandon Lastwall altogether. His surprise return to Vigil and unpopular plan to lead a caravan through the heart of enemy territory had set the tongues of gossips wagging across the city.
Bonegrit won the Strander Stakes whilst his companions disrupted an attempt to fix the race with magic. Bonegrit’s was a controversial victory due to his orcish ancestry and Dierik’s sponsorship, but many of the spectators recognised his horsemanship and the quality of his steed.
During the Strander Stakes a fifth adventurer signed on to Dierik’s venture, a Vigilant scout and magus named Pellius Fullona seeking to find his brother, who had been captured by the orcs of Belkzen. After the race Pellius discovered his old friend, a retired halfling jockey called Caleb Varadin had fled Vigil for parts unknown.
Following the Strander Stakes, Dierik’s caravan departed Vigil, following the Esk upriver to the Ghostlight Marshes and the start of the Flood Road. Their first night on the trail was interrupted by an aging Vigilant knight known as Haisnar Rosencroft. Many years ago Haisnar had lost his love to one of Dierik’s cavalier flirtations, and now demanded satisfaction in the form of a joust. Dierik defeated him easily, but Haisnar treacherously ordered his retainers to attack the merchant. The adventurers intervened, and Haisnar was sent back to Vigil in shame, bearing neither armour nor weapons.
Two days out of Vigil, the caravan encountered a column of wounded Lastwall soldiers returning from a great engagement on the border. An unknown force of orcs, one of the largest hordes of recent years had fought a pitched battle against the forces of Lastwall beside the Ghostlight Marshes. Dierik agreed to travel to the site of the battle and bury the slain men left on the field.
Dierik sent the adventurers ahead to scout the area. At the battlefield they discovered an enormous, crudely constructed representation of the battle god Gorum’s holy symbol constructed by the bodies of butchered humans. They also rescued a paladin, one Modoru Redgrave, a paladin from Castle Firrine who had been left for dead after being trapped beneath a fallen hill giant.
Reuniting with the caravan, they decided to construct a cairn to entomb the fallen men. Before the work could be started, a dog that habitually followed the wagons was lured into the Ghostlight Marshes by a will o’ wisp. The adventurers and Modoru followed, but Pellius, Pyotr and Dunagan opted to return to camp after a battle with twig blights. Bonegrit, Delkaneth and Modoru continued alone, encountering an obtuse, insectoid fey known as the Conductor of the Fens who would only communicate with them through song. They finally found the dog, but were ambushed by a ring of will o’ wisps. The will o’ wisps spoke to them cryptically, briefly attacking Modoru and Delkaneth before disappearing.
With the cairn finished but with clear indications large orcish forces were on the move in the area, Dierik abandoned the Flood Road and instead turned the caravan towards the Freedom Town, a nefarious human enclave of exiles, vagabonds and scoundrels on the edge of the Hold of Belkzen.
One night the adventurers snuck out of camp to explore one of the ruins of Harchrist’s Blockade, one of the forgotten borders of Lastwall past. They battled and destroyed a disgusting carrion golem, which disturbingly bore the face of one of Pellius’ former comrades who had been captured by orcs alongside his brother. They also restored the sanctity of a chapel dedicated to Iomedae’s Saint Lymirin, which had been defiled by a cluster of crawling claws – the hands of cowardly Lastwall soldiers who had cut off their own hands to sever the marks of justice that bound them to defend the keep to the death.
They returned to the caravan, battered and bruised, only to receive a thorough dessing-down by Dierik the morning after for abandoning their posts.
The caravan arrived at the Freedom Town with both Pellius and Delkaneth feeling sick following their adventure in the keep. Whilst Pellius recovered, Delkaneth’s fever has only increased. After receiving their pay, the adventurers begun exploring the rundown streets of the Freedom Town. Delkaneth fell in with local sage and drunkard Sleer Huddlegrew, learning much despite the exorbitant cost of this scholarship. The others bore witness to an assassination attempt on Dierik in the middle of the town square. They pursued the old mercenary who’d made this blatant attack and defeated him, only to discover the crossbow bolt he’d fired had been envenomed with a rare and deadly poison.
The story continues . . .
Interested applicants might also want to check out the Campaign Info tab, which contains a gameplay index, dramatis personae A-Z, a diary of events and some useful map links.

Alagor Faelan |

I would gladly submit Alagor again, seems that he made it somehow to Freedom town ;-)
However, I can perfectly understand that he would not fit in well (mechanically) with current party composition, but it is a risk I am willing to take.
Also, if chosen - how problematic would it be for Alagor to start at lvl. 1? I have "a thing" with characters having to "earn" their levels, and currently my only character at lvl. 2 is a monk who would not fit well in this adventure.

Cuàn |

I'd still be very much interested in this game, a different character though
Basic idea is a female Half Orc Crossblooded Sorcerer with the Orc and Dragon (Gold) bloodlines named Varah. She'll start as Fighter 1 /Sorcerer 1 and will take more Sorcerer levels until she qualifies for Dragon Disciple.
Basically the character is the daughter of a chieftain (clan undecided) and a now deceased captured slave. Her mother was a Lastwall crusader that got captured by a raiding party, turned into a slave and used to produce Half Orc offspring. The chieftain killed her after she bore four daughters and no sons. The daughters were raised by the slaves and the female orcs to eventually be given away to warriors as prizes for successful raids.
Varah would be often refused as they either found her too manly because of the many scars she bore or they feared her ability with fire. A few months before the start of the game a particularly brazen warrior thought he could control her and paid for it by having his "business" scorched. Since then she has been on the run.

DM Tadpole |

@ DM Yodler; look forward to seeing what you come up with.
@ Alagor Faelan; being a fighter isn’t too much of a concern for me. As regards to the 1st level ‘thing’, whilst I’m personally not too concerned I definitely have to put that to the existing PCs.
I’ve not being handing out XP, instead the PCs level whenever is appropriate for the story. With this in mind, would you see Alagor as always being a step behind his companions, or should I level him to 2nd at an earlier point in the campaign so he could catch up with everyone else?
@ Cuan; Varah sounds like an intriguing character, and I can see some interesting connections that could be made with plots I’ve already been spinning behind the scenes. With regards to which orc tribe, if memory serves your last submission demonstrated a good knowledge of the different tribes residing in Belkzen. Some of them I’ve already earmarked for certain things, but others would suit Varah’s story well. I’ve also been assuming that smaller tribes not referenced in canon exist on the fringes of Belkzen (particularly the mountains); feel free to create a tribe from scratch if it appeals.
Looking forward to finding out more about Varah.

Alagor Faelan |

Since you are handling out levels, not XP, then I would say that I am perfectly fine with something "in-between" what you suggested. Let me try to clarify - I am perfectly fine from being 1 level behind the rest of the party, if that is OK with the rest of them. At the same time, I would have no issue if at some point you tell me - OK you've earned your level now (so I can catch up with them), as long as it is "justified" in a way. Meaning - I'm OK with leveling him up based on something which he did, achieved, succeeded etc. within the story/campaign, as long as it is not: "OK, so you showed up in a tavern. Gratz, you're level 2 now"

Cuàn |

Varah will be from the Skulleater clan of eastern Belkzen. She however calls herself Skullscorcher, a sign of her split from her clan and a homage to her new found ability.
Her mother was a guard on a supply caravan from Ustalav to the garrisons in the Firewatch Peaks (so not from Lastwall). Her gold dragon bloodline comes from her mother's side and is the result of a gold dragon's attempt to strengthen the populace of a city in Ustalav in their fight against a red dragon. It was a success and the red dragon was pushed out of what is now Ustalav and moved to what is now Belkzen. The dragon's descendants still survive at Raschka-Tor in northern Belkzen.
Her father was the number one warrior of the Skulleater tribe. Wise for an Orc in that he knew he knew too little to stay alive as chief he instead is a staunch supporter of Chief Gribrik the Bone-Cracker and gets richly rewarded for his support. Part of the why the two get along well is that they are cousins of the same age and the went on their first raids together. The strength of Varah's bloodline comes from from her grandmother on father's side. She was the aunt of the current chief of the Black Sun Tribe and traced her lineage straight to Belkzen himself.
Varah knows she has Black Sun blood in her veins as her father boasted about it. She wants to seek out the Black Sun's and get more information from their shamans, even if she has to beat it out of them.
Another reason to find the Black Sun is that her eldest full sister was given to one of their shamans for rendered services (a reading of bones and other omens). Varah had five more full sisters, though two of them perished. Of the remaining three two still reside with the Skulleater and the last one was bartered away in Urgir though Varah learned that she had since been moved to Urglin in Varisia.

Reverie |

Dotting for interest. I haven't been gaming much in the past year, and a PbP sounds like a great way to get back into the habit.
I'll go over the available materials and submit a concept, but my initial feeling is an inquisitor of Alseta: an elf of half-elf that carries a big sword, likes to take part in bar brawls social gatherings, and has a nasty habit of peeking through doors that he probably shouldn't.

DM Tadpole |

@ Alagor Faelan. Regarding levelling, it looks like we’re on the same page. And I can see a logical point in the next few adventures where Alagor could ‘catch up.’
How did Alagor come to the Freedom Town? I think the link to Second Master Santrian in your backstory has been overtaken by campaign events. If you wanted to keep a similar ‘my uncle sent me here’, vibe in the backstory, we could come up with a contact in the Freedom Town that Santrian later connects with.
Finally, I can match your level “thing” with my own “thing” which is a dislike of real world names in a Golarion. Could we make Grace and Konstantin’s names more fantastical? Especially Grace, if ever there was a girl I shouldn’t have got involved in . . .
@ Cuan. I like how Varah’s backstory is neatly tied into the existing lore of the Hold. I can’t guarantee it will all come into play in the campaign (although it might, depending on length), but there’s definitely some elements I could weave in.
I've also got some further ideas of how Varah ended up in the Freedom Town.
I’d like to see Varah statted up. Roll hit points for your second level class. High or low, you get what you roll.
@ Reverie. Your inquisitor looks to be an interesting proposition, especially as flavourwise it diverges somewhat from the predominant theme of the party, which in many ways I consider a good thing. I look forward to seeing more.
Any other interested parties out there? Don’t fear, the orcs of Belkzen are soft, sponge-like pacifist creatures . . .

Cuàn |

Well, when it comes to how Varah got to Freedomtown the most likely reason would be to find information, resources and allies for her personal mission (freeing her sisters). She would have arrived from Urgir, where she was until recently.
As for my HP roll
1d6 ⇒ 2
Looks like it's low. Oh well, happy I went with Fighter as first level

DM Tadpole |

I have some thoughts about how Varah's presence in the Freedom Town could link in with some plot points that have been bubbling under the surface for the other characters. It's late for me, so I'll PM you tomorrow with a bit more information.
How will Varah feel when she discovers that most, if not all, of her sisters are wicked as sin? The vast majority (though not all) of the orcs in this campaign are Evil with a capital E . . . although that's not to say they're not incapable of interacting with other races and each other without automatically resorting to violence.

Cuàn |

She doesn't mind them being evil, she isn't good herself either (neutral something, haven't quite settled on it yet).
That said, I would find it odd if they are chaotic evil, especially her older sisters, since they were all raised by their enslaved mother, who would probably have been Lawful Neutral. Some of that would have rubbed off on them, like it did for Varah.
If anything they probably are more organised and reasonable than your average orc, so more towards neutral evil or maybe even further from standard orcs.

Alagor Faelan |

OK, so if I get this right we have 3 things:
1. Leveling: it seems that we are aligned in here
2. What is Alagor doing in Freedom Town/how he came there? It seems that my Google-fu is not very strong today, since the only thing "official" I found is this Freedom Town. Not very much established persons in there, so I can easily make up a contact of my uncle being there, instead of being in Vigil. Looking at the map, it even makes more sense, since Freedom Town is closer to Tamrivena (Alagor's home place, in Ustalav), than Vigil is. If you are OK, I will simply change that part of my backstory, and either make up someone as a contact, or you give me someone if you have established some NPC's, and that's it.
3. Names of Grace and Konstantin. As for Grace, it seems that we are (somewhat) similar. That is actually one important girl from my "previous" life - her name in my own (Slav) language is Milica, which loosely translates to Grace in English. Talk about a girl I shouldn't be involved with. Tell you what, she will be known as Mishea (I see that is a relativelly common female name in Ustalav), while Konstantin will become Dalamad. If that is OK with you, I will change my backstory accordingly.

DM Tadpole |

@ Cuan. My apologies, I was having a dim moment, and failed to recognise they were half-orcs raised by a human mother. That opens things up nicely for a wider gamut of characters and alliances.
@ Alagor. I'll come up with a Freedom Town contact shortly. Another consideration is that I don't see Tamrivena to the Freedom Town directly as a popular route for travel; much of the Hold of Belkzen - a lot of dangerous territory and dangerous inhabitants - lie between. It might make more sense to have had him travel south to Caliphas, then to Vigil and onwards to the Freedom Town.
More later, better get to work!

Cuàn |

No need to apologize. I was talking about her full sisters. She has many half-siblings, mostly pureblooded orcs, but she doesn't care about those.
Busy statting her up, just trying to figure out what I'm going to do exactly with her fighter level.
EDIT: For those desperate for healing, I'll be picking up Use Magic Device and have a hefty Charisma bonus so I should be able to operate a wand of CLW or the such.

Quick commercial for this campaign - its been a LOT of fun playing in this campaign with some great RP moments alongside some awesomely descriptive scenes and locales. Its been great and we can tell from the building momentum that there's a ton more excitement ahead!
And yes, as the guy who always seems to get his butt handed to him, I am biased toward having a little more healing. We've done fairly well so far but could definitely use a good arm or anvil in the party

DM Tadpole |

@ Alagor; I'm toying with the idea that Alagor's contact in the Freedom Town is a certain Tharkon Tallows, a mercenary and hunter getting on in years who travels freely along the Lastwall/Belkzen border but more often than not is found in the Freedom Town. Of course, a quick glance at the Gameplay thread will show that this would be a controversial decision, which would initially put Alagor at odds with the existing PCs. It could be rife with juicy RP opportunities, or it could be an utter disaster.
I'll think some more on that one!

@Tadpole: I'm kind of interested as this looks like a nice campaign you've got going on here. However I don't have an idea that I'm totally sold on at the moment so this might take me a while...
Concepts I've been mulling over recently are a Houndmaster Cavalier, a Nature Oracle or a Mad Dog Barbarian. In any case something where the pet would be rather prominent.

Just another endorsement for this campaign from one of the players (magus).
The DM is very detail oriented (in a good way) and makes this world come alive with well-developed NPCs and believable encounters/situations.
The rest of us players try to pitch in as best we can and the story unfolding is really worthwhile.
If you're looking for some decent role playing, take a look at the gameplay thread.

Alagor Faelan |

I can only say - you guys (and girls, if any) are completelly crazy. Acting like a total noob myself, I started reading Gameplay thread from the begining (what, "only" 20+ pages, I'll pass this quickly...yeah, right!).
Now, only a couple of pages into the game thread, I had to use dictionary and Thesaurus already like 50 times (especially in terms of horse names, types etc...), and honestly - I feel inadequate. I do not know if I could match the level/quality of your posts, really. You have to have in mind that english is not my native language also, and I do travel a lot (typing this from Frankfurt airport), so have all of these in mind prior to making your decision about Alagor as potential replacement.
And kudos to all of you guys - one of the best PbP's in terms of immersion I have ever read!

Cuàn |

Gameplay is indeed looking very nice.
Almost done with Varah (who is found here )
Still stuck on which combat feat to grab from my fighter level, especially since the Half Orc racial feat Ironhide somehow isn't a combat feat (give +1 NA but somehow that isn't a combat thing...)
That and I still have more than 250 gold to spend.

Alex Mack |

I've settled on a character concept. I'd like to go with a Hound Master Cavalier. As to background I was thinking of a Brevoy noble, second son with no place in the world out to explore and make a name for himself and gather glory, wealth and maybe found a new Barony further North. I'd picture him as a cocky and spoiled young man who is currently learning that nobility buys him little in the Lands of the North.
However I'm rather at a loss as to how exactly he could have made his way to freedom town...
Also do you want fully worked out crunch for submissions? As the char would like feature two animal companions this could be a bit complex...

DM Tadpole |

Thanks Alagor. There’s no requirement for all the players to be similarly wordy in their own updates, I think the others find themselves helpless but to respond to my own logophilia (an obsession with words). However, I am looking for players for whom at least one post a day is the norm. We don’t always manage that rate, but it should be our target (Pellius, Bonegrit, Pyotr, Delkaneth, if you’re reading this, you should probably be making a gameplay post :-p ).
As for horses, on the whole they won’t be necessary (horseless PCs can hitch a ride on a wagon when the caravan is travelling), and when they are necessary a horse would be provided. If you didn’t get a horse on joining the game I’d come up with a different ‘reward’ for your character.
@ Varah, don’t feel obliged to spend all your starting wealth. It can always be converted into something more portable (such as gems) and saved for a later date in-campaign. However, the variety of goods on offer might often be limited ‘in-campaign’.
@ Alex Mack. Although the Hound Master isn’t an ‘official’ archetype as far as I’m aware, I’m happy to include one as it would fit well with the flavour of the campaign.
There are pros and cons of Brevoy as a homeland. It makes finding a reason for your PC to be in the Freedom Town a little difficult. On the other hand, I like the idea that some of the PCs are strangers in the land, rather than characters with immediate links to and experience of Lastwall and the Hold of Belkzen. That being said, there’s no reason why your hound master shouldn’t hail from Lastwall.
Note that the Lastwall and the Hold of Belkzen aren’t lands ‘further north’ from Brevoy; in fact they’re more or less due west, with the Freedom Town a smidgen south.
I would like crunch more or less complete for submissions, but start with the main PC and see how far you get. Exceptions would be made for a good PC. Also, as a 2nd level hound master your PC would only have one animal companion at this stage.

Cuàn |

The problem is more that I have nothing to spend my money on that would actually both be useful and would make sense for my character to have. I'll go and check the ARG if it has some fitting (Half) Orc equipment but otherwise I don't know.
As for Alex, the Cavalier archetype I think he means is the Huntmaster from Animal Archive. It basically is a Cavalier that gets dogs/birds instead of a horse. He could have 2 beasts at level 2, but they'd both be lvl 1.
EDIT: Varah is done. She still has over 200 gold to spare, but I turned quite a bit of it into gems (keeping in mind some future spell casting as well).

Pyotr |

One point I will make regarding the Hound Master (not as deterrant, mind you, just FYI), Pyotr has a highly developed and now well-established dislike of dogs. We also are heading to the land of mega-fauna, for what that's worth. (Can you say "Giant Mastadon Animal Companion" fast enough!) A nature Oracle or Druid could do quite well, I imagine.

Ahh, thanks. I assumed he meant the Hound Master archetype which garnered much praise in RPG Superstar a couple of years back. It looks like Huntsmaster is the official Paizo take on the premise.

Alagor Faelan |

I've ditched the houndmaster Idea. Currently looking into a Aasimar Nature Oracle with a super horse.
Is there any information on the special horses from the region?
Alex, with GM's approval of course, I'd recommend you to go through first 3-4 pages of the game thread. I read and learned more about horses in there, than in my whole life so far (and I'm 39).
As a general comment - usually I am able to post 1-2 times a day, could be a bit less on some weekends (depending on the activities in RL).

DM Tadpole |

No approval needed to peruse the Gameplay thread, everyone is highly encouraged to, even if you simply came here by accident. Tis a thing of beauty! :-p
As for horse breeds, we've got that covered. Go to the first page of the Discussion thread, scroll halfway down and there's a long post concerning them. Click on the spoiler 'Horse Breeds of Lastwall' for the bulk of the relevant info.

DM Tadpole |

At this stage I'd like to put out a final call for submissions.
If you're interested in joining Follow the Flood Road , please post in the Recruitment thread in the next 24 hours.
After this time has elapsed, there'll be a further 48 hours for those who've shown interest to finalize their characters. I'll then make my selection.

Reverie |

I'm in the process of finalizing my character. The concept is complete in my head, now I've just got to get it down in a profile; crunch tends to flow surprisingly well when a character is as fluffy as a sheep waiting for shears.
It also looks like my concept isn't tied to the inquisitor class as much as I originally thought, and in fact the class might be a burden for what I have planned: I'll be submitting a cleric instead.

I've written up my background for Landa Mala a Aasimar Oracle of Erastil. I'll get the crunch done this weekend and post a profile. But I'll post the background for now.
Landa is a young girl following Erastil's calling and I've purposefully left the end of the backgound a bit open so that she could easily be worked into the campaign.
I've been wanting to pick up the lame curse. Would it be possible to RP this not as some sort of physical impediment but merely the fact that Landa is still young and rather small and thus not so fast afoot?
Landa had been an ordinary child. Well not completely, she had always been beautiful; many men in her village had wanted to marry her one day, but none the less she lived the simple life of a village girl. Until one day a man came to town atop a white steed, the most beautiful Landa had seen. The man was Father Zastoran a high priest of Erastil who claimed to have ridden 2000 miles to gift this steed to a special girl; one blessed by the Elkfather.
Landa was overjoyed at the gift but with it came great changes. When riding atop Haver, the name she had given her steed, she felt an odd connection to the beast as if she always knew what he thought and wanted and it appeared as if he felt the same. But other things were strange as well, in her dreams, she saw clear pictures and voices, telling her teaching her about things her young mind could not yet quite grasp, about who she was and who she would be and about the road that she must take. The most frightening change to Landa however was that she was changing, she still appeared a typical girl of Eleven years, but there was more. One day when wrestling with her brothers she noticed she was far stronger than any of them and by accident knocked her eldest brother out with a simple toying jab. When she then kneeled by his side crying and apologizing, she felt and odd jaunt, a rush of power which she could not control. Her brother awoke and rose the bleeding on his jaw stopped.
That night Landa dreamt a vivid dream and she again saw the high priest who bade her to come to him. And so the next day the young girl left her village behind atop Haver seeking answers. She did not know why but she knew how to find the priest and he had known she would come. Together they traveled across the land, and Landa learned, the ways of the clergy of the Elkfather. Two years she spent with the father travelling from town to town throughout the northern reaches of Gollarion, spreading the word of the Elk father, blessing the crops and curing the ill, battling those who wished to undoe the harmony of the world or preying on the weak.
One night a dream came to Landa, of her riding alone, into the snow and ice. It was the morning of her thirteenth nameday and apparently Zastoran had known this day would come. In the morning he rose, wished her farewell and rode south on a calling of his own. Landa herself set out north, to where and why, she was still oblivious.

Alagor Faelan |

Guys, just a small heads-up. I've been reading on gameplay thread from the beginning and currently I'm on page 12 (half of the party in the swamp, half burying the dead). I know it's slow, but I have been also working and travelling :-( Now I have a full Sunday off, so hopefully I will be able to finish the Gamplay thread (did not even touch Discussions so far), and to at least see that Tharkon fellow (still has not made an appearance) and to somehow potentially weave him into my background.
I can easily understand if you're unwilling to wait for me to finalize both reading the Gameplay and updateing Alagor, that's perfectly OK. Plus, I would not be bringing the "oh so needed" healing :-( But one more meat-shield is not something to be passed upon easily, at least I hope. Anyway, I am hoping to have a final update from me in another 24-48 hours. Thanks.

Oh? A class with cure spells at their disposal? I assure you, sir/madam, the current assembly weeps with tears of wound-binding gratitude.
The character's not going to be an optimal healer: Having to provide for his younger brothers and sister in his early years means this cleric has a bit of rogue in him. Knife master, to be precise. Should be an interesting concept to play, though.

We aren't completely without healing, nor do I wish to contribute to a notion that it's "heals or bust!" haha. Healing-starved games often tend to trend towards gritty, which can be very fun. Our group as is just happens to have been bloodied up quite a bit as of late, so the notion of something other than oppressively taxing our resident Paladin's lay on hands pool is at least mildly humorous.
