Male Human Paragon 8 - 92/92 hp; AC 26 [30] (tch 24; ff 19 [23]); CMD 42 (44 vs Grapple); Fort +13; Ref + 16; Will +13; Init +13; Perception +24; Sense Motive +20; low-light vision; darkvision (60 ft)

Well... We can make weapons and armor... I use neither. So you guys take whatever you want.

You could make a Flaming Amulet of Mighty Fists equivalent (I usually allow enchanted handwraps as well, from Thunderscape) or an item with fire resistance.

Male Human Paragon 8 - 92/92 hp; AC 26 [30] (tch 24; ff 19 [23]); CMD 42 (44 vs Grapple); Fort +13; Ref + 16; Will +13; Init +13; Perception +24; Sense Motive +20; low-light vision; darkvision (60 ft)

You know... If it's gonna take that long to decide, then let's just make a bunch of fire resistance cloaks and move on.

Well... Unless it costs money to craft those things... If it does, I'll save my coins for something more useful for Titus.

Male Half-Giant 76/76 HP AC 23 (tch 16; ff 19); CMD 29(Count as Large); Fort +11, Ref +12, Will +14;Darkvision, Lowlight x2; Perception +19; Sense Motive +12; Init +4

Matching cloaks would be kinda cool now that I think of it. But only if we could get one for everyone.

I didn't expect you guys to be so reluctant to get loot

It's kinda half the point of this

Male Human Paragon 8 - 92/92 hp; AC 26 [30] (tch 24; ff 19 [23]); CMD 42 (44 vs Grapple); Fort +13; Ref + 16; Will +13; Init +13; Perception +24; Sense Motive +20; low-light vision; darkvision (60 ft)

Well... Sure... But no point in paying for stuff that isn't very useful. Fire-Resistance is nice... But not if it costs 20000 gp or something. Specially since I don't expect to fight more fire-breathing creatures so soon.

Express these concerns instead of going radio silence; it helps me understand what the issue is.

Though I'm not sure why you thought I'd give you a time sensitive material that would cost you more than you can afford.

Male Human Paragon 8 - 92/92 hp; AC 26 [30] (tch 24; ff 19 [23]); CMD 42 (44 vs Grapple); Fort +13; Ref + 16; Will +13; Init +13; Perception +24; Sense Motive +20; low-light vision; darkvision (60 ft)

It's not a concern, exactly... It's just that this time there wasn't much that would be useful for Titus. It happens. Maybe next creature will fit him better. And it's not like I contributed much last fight anyway. So I was/am waiting for the other PCs to pick whatever they want from the tortoise.

(And I did say the others could have all the "loot" this time).

Male Ratfolk Alchemist (Gun Chemist) / Gunslinger (Siege Gunner) 8 | [dex mutagen] HP 68/68, AC 26 [+4], FF 20, T 19[+2] | Fort +10, Ref +14[+2], Will +9[-1] | Initiative +6[+2] | Perception +19[-1]

...Did you not see that Tibbets and I want fire weapons? It's understandable, since everything's so damn unreadable now.

Male Human Paragon 8 - 92/92 hp; AC 26 [30] (tch 24; ff 19 [23]); CMD 42 (44 vs Grapple); Fort +13; Ref + 16; Will +13; Init +13; Perception +24; Sense Motive +20; low-light vision; darkvision (60 ft)

I saw you asking about Flame weapons, but no definitive statement that you'd indeed buy them. So I wasn't sure... And I don't know what/how many organs they take to make, so for now, I'm just waiting around.

Male Human Paragon 8 - 92/92 hp; AC 26 [30] (tch 24; ff 19 [23]); CMD 42 (44 vs Grapple); Fort +13; Ref + 16; Will +13; Init +13; Perception +24; Sense Motive +20; low-light vision; darkvision (60 ft)

Just to be clear: I'm not complaining about the "loot"... I just don't want it this time. It's like I were playing a Wizard and the party found a flaming sword.

I'm not "concerned" that it's a sword instead of a staff or that it goes to the Fighter instead of me. I'm just not interested in what we "looted" this time.

Similarly, I don't use weapons or armor, and I don't think a Flaming AoMF or cloak of fire resistance is worth the money, so I'm leaving the loot for those would like it.

Male Human Paragon 8 - 92/92 hp; AC 26 [30] (tch 24; ff 19 [23]); CMD 42 (44 vs Grapple); Fort +13; Ref + 16; Will +13; Init +13; Perception +24; Sense Motive +20; low-light vision; darkvision (60 ft)

So... In the end do we have to pay anything to use tortoise's carcass?

In the interest of moving on from something ultimately unimportant, no.

Male Human Paragon 8 - 92/92 hp; AC 26 [30] (tch 24; ff 19 [23]); CMD 42 (44 vs Grapple); Fort +13; Ref + 16; Will +13; Init +13; Perception +24; Sense Motive +20; low-light vision; darkvision (60 ft)

We're back!

Also, thanks for coming back Cube! I was going to send you a PM asking if you wanted back in but you showed up on your own while the site was borked. =)

Of course. I'm always down for shooting monsters and taking their stuff!

Hey Cube how ya been?

Huh... I had forgotten this was Gestalt... I think I was a Stalker, because I remember explicitly making Syd a Stalker as well because we weren't playing this game anymore.

A quick look at your character sheet may prove those suspicions correct. =p

*cough*

Just to clarify, are you guys going after the underwater Hunt, or waiting for me to come up with a new batch of monsters?

Male Ratfolk Alchemist (Gun Chemist) / Gunslinger (Siege Gunner) 8 | [dex mutagen] HP 68/68, AC 26 [+4], FF 20, T 19[+2] | Fort +10, Ref +14[+2], Will +9[-1] | Initiative +6[+2] | Perception +19[-1]

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, I dunno.

Even though my build is...sub-optimal for underwater combat, I guess there's no harm in trying.

I believe we were looking for alternatives before committing to a super-difficult underwater mystery mission.

I was writing some up, but when I told you that over Discord you *coughed* here like a half hour later, so I wasn't sure.

Speaking of, Cube do you want an invite to one of the RPG Discords? Helps organize stuff off the forums.

I only saw your message on Discord hours later.

Sure!

So here's the quick rundown of available hunts; more details will be forthcoming (and a proper board write-up) later. Feel free to make your knowledge checks now. As a reminder, each star represents a 1-2 CR range. So 6 star quests are CR 12-13. I may change this soon because it occurred to me it's kinda dumb I started the game at a level where nothing below 5 stars is worth your time.

6 Star (Calidusaer): Giant sky beast (Collossal), floats using air sacs. These air sacs can be used to make things like hot air balloons, or oxygen tanks for underwater breathing.

6 Star (Phase Chameleon): Lives primarily in jungle regions. Near-perfect camouflage gives it a permanent pseudo-invisibility. Relatively small (Large) but vicious.

5 Star (each; more dangerous in packs;Spincadas): Insects with razor sharp propellers they use to fly around and cut predators to pieces. Not inherently territorial or violent, but make travel dangerous when they're active just by their presence, as they do not avoid most life.

7 Star (Pokkibella): Semi-intelligent swarm of man-eating butterflies.

I vote on... Anything but the swarm. Because it's a f~!~ing swarm!

The Calidusaer and the Spincadas sound on theme for our group since we all have some form of flight.

Also, if the underwater hunt is still available after we kill the Calidusaer, we'll have air sacs!

Indeed!

Wouldn't they make diving even more difficult? On account of being large, floaty bags of air? :P

Can I blow 300-400 gp on a big tank of water we load on Nyr's back that can shoot water at people from 60 ft away?

Look, dude... You have to choose between Charizard and Blastoise! You can't have both. That's just cheap...

Jokes aside, I'm willing to chip in for a giant water cannon!

EDIT: Wait... If you want Nyr to be within range to attack the creature, wouldn't she be in a range where creature can just drain the water in the tank?

Is everyone ready?

I never got a confirmation on this.

Yes.

I'll chip in for turning the dragon into a flying fire truck.

Oh! Before i forget, everyone that meets the prerequisites gets Harvest Parts as a free Feat. These were part of what inspired me to restart this campaign to begin with.

Feel free to retrain skill ranks if you want.

The chain continues with Grisly Ornament and Monstrous Crafter

I just realized I could've used Temporal Body Adjustment to lose the Blinded condition... Oh, well... Blind-Fight is close enough. ><'

If you want to retcon it, go ahead. Actions aren't locked in until I take my turn.

It's ok. I'll survive... Hopefully... XD

(BTW, my idea was for Titus to be standing on top of the creature, I don't know if that changes anything).

Nah, with how big this thing is the only way that matters is if it rolls over.

This would depend on how good Nyr's Fly skill is. I would call flying blind a "complex maneuver".

Would you? She pretty much only has to fly in a straight line. And unlike someone walking, there's nothing for her to trip on. She barely even has to flap her wings (assuming dragons fly more like hawks than a humming bird.

There's a reason people need sight to fly an airplane.

Storm Dragon wrote:

Probably because they don't have organs and limbs designed to allow flight and therefore can't feel things like wind resistance and differences in air pressure (on account of the giant metal cage around them)... Instead having to rely on *seeing* what shows up at the airplane controls.

There's also a reason there aren't very many blind marathon runners or sprinters.

For a creature that has lived all its life with sight, losing it is a detriment to every function of their being.

People don't generally navigate themselves by sound, or touch, or smell.

I think Nyr's flight back to the city would me more akin to calmly walking with your eyes closed in a large completely empty room with no one else around... Blind people navigate their houses quite easily since they know where the obstacles are (and so does Nyr: nowhere. Because it the freaking open sky!)

But whatever... I don't care enough to insist on the subject.

I just want to point out that you have already fought one giant flying monster today.
