Chief the Maestro D' |

If I haven't missed anything, here's what the highlighting looks like so far:
Dust - Weird
Dog - Cool
Scarlet - Cool
Runner Rufio - Sharp
Chief - Sharp
Volcano - (Navarre to highlight)
Pallor - (Navarre to highlight)
Navarre - (Navarre to name highest Hx)
Doc - (I didn't see anyone claim “who has been beside Doc all along and seen everything”, so I think I've got the Hx, in which case I'll highlight his Weird)

Pallor |

will we have the discussion tab opened for side conversations?
i figure as i spent 2 barter on lifestyle, which normally affords someone a better lifestyle than usual (correct me if i am wrong), that i figure Paul Atreides foots the bill for the brainer's odd tastes, as long as they dont get TOO extravagant and Pallor does his job. though he doesn't really have his own living space and just kinda sleeps wherever he happens to be when he feels like sleeping. i figure most dont mess with him out of fear and inability to tell when he is sleeping due to his strange behavior.

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |

Scarlet - Cool
Runner Rufio - Sharp

my mother always said "If you do something well, keep doing it!" Pallor HX + 1 weird and VolcanoHX + 1 weird, Well add Dust's HX weird to you two and the weird just keep getting weirder!
My highest HX is definitely Scarlet, sorry Volcano beauty trumps brains every time! So " frankly Scarlet I don't give a ... scratch that... I really do care, what do you want me to add to?
as for the tattoo's since the gang is the "lost boys" wouldn't an image of "Peter Pan" or "Tinkerbell" be most appropriate? ;)
nodding his head at Dog, "You got it Dog."
Watching Scarlet from the corner of his eye bounce into the room, he smiles as she stands in the chair, I'm not planning on dying and it would be a shame is she does, but a coffee run doesn't sound like a bad idea.'
Looking from Dog, to Scarlet and back to Chief the Maestro D' Navarre asks, "is there a coffee run needed?" Looking over to Runner he snarks, "To bad we don't know someone with a jeep that could make a run through the snow and bring back a delivery, maybe some a vehicle stoner and I here could ride 'shotgun' on."

Runner, aka Rufio |

"I gotta know that the stuff will be there.
I ain't wasting rubber on a trip with no goods.
Lemmie check on another customer and see if I can set up a combo-run."
-
Runner then drifts over to where Dust is sitting and waits for a chance to talk with her.
-
"Uuuh, Dust, I hear you're having a gathering tonight?
I've sorta been watching the last few and figure it might be time for me to try.
Only problem is, I don't have the slap to pay for the drugs.
I know I will be getting some paying gigs soon.
Is there some arrangement you would agree to?"

Dust the Hocus |

I set down my cup and listen to Runner's offer. I'm happy to hear that he's ready to take this step and hopeful for what it may bring. Upon hearing his offer my mind immediately turns to my youngest follower, a fresh faced 17 year old named Abbot.
"This is good news Runner. I would be glad to aid you in your search for your true self, in fact the timing could not be more auspicious. I have an offer for you which could be beneficial to us both. Young Abbot has come to me with rumours of a new chem they're using down at The Big Farm. Abbot knows people down there so if you could give him a ride and make sure he's safe then maybe you two can bring back some of whatever it is they've got."

"Doc" Evans |

I start to answer Chief's question but Scarlet interrupts.
"Well, he won't die if I can find something stronger than plain old stims!" I say to her, not hiding my frustration.
Looking back at Chief I say, "It's that farmer's kid. I don't remember his name, fever's gotten worse. I need biostabs or the like."

DM Mooshybooshy, "the Foolish" |

Dust - Weird
Dog - Cool
Scarlet - Cool
Rufio - Sharp
Chief - Sharp
Volcano - Weird
Pallor - Weird
Navarre - Hard
Doc - Weird
Now it's the MC's turn to highlight XP stats for each of you, based on what I want to see your character doing most.
Let's see now...
Dust - Let's see how Hot you can get.
Dog - Better keep your senses Sharp, chopper man.
Scarlet - The color of flames, and just as Hot.
Rufio - It's a Weird and dangerous world outside your car, Runner.
Chief - Sometimes customers get unruly. I want to see you go Hard when necessary.
Volcano - You may have a temper, but you need to be able to keep Cool as well.
Pallor - I want to see some people recoil in revulsion. Hot.
Navarre - I'd be remiss if I didn't reward Two-Fingers for going Hard.
Doc - Everyone always targets the medic first. Be ready to keep your Cool under fire.

Runner, aka Rufio |

I have an offer for you which could be beneficial to us both. Young Abbot has come to me with rumours of a new chem they're using down at The Big Farm. Abbot knows people down there so if you could give him a ride and make sure he's safe then maybe you two can bring back some of whatever it is they've got."
-
Runner pauses for a few seconds, glancing around to see who might have overheard this exchange. He also uses the pause to deflect his twofold excitement; getting back out on the road if even for just a few hours, and the possibility that Dust's epic trance will help him start to unlock his past.
-
"You need them for tonight? O.K. tell Abbot to meet me at the gates in an hour.
What will I use for pinch to score these new chems or is Abbot takin' care of all that?"

Chief the Maestro D' |

My lip curls a bit. "Farmer's kid. You mean... ahh... Kettle, right? All right. All right, Doc, let me see what I can do. Send Pete over around 3-bells this afternoon."
I straighten up and pull Partridge aside. "Listen, Doc needs some stuff, can you talk to..." I lay it out for Partridge: who to see first, who to make which promises to. I'm putting the word out that I want biostabs and high-powered stims for Doc.
Fingers in Every Pie: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 6) + 2 = 12

DM Mooshybooshy, "the Foolish" |

Partridge had rolled his eyes at Scarlet's offhanded dismissal. He nods when you command him to find what you need, murmuring his assent in a lower-pitched gravelly voice. Partridge's sexuality changes from day to day depending on what chems he or she is experimenting with.
He leaves the establishment by the front door, bundling up his winter jacket around himself warmly first, and heads off in the direction of the special contacts you have here in Walker's Hold. Like magic, the chems that Doc needs will be here in Wolf's by 3 bells.
We'll probably be reassigning highlighted stats after one session :)

DM Mooshybooshy, "the Foolish" |

Felix and Kali, two of Dust's followers, had been listening to her conversation with Runner. When Dust gives Runner the job, Felix rises from his seat and approaches.
"Sorry, couldn't help but overhear you're heading southbound to the Big Farm. Figured I'd give you some warning since I went down a ways south on a scavenging run a few days' back." He clears his throat a little, nervously, when Dust coolly looks him over. "Er, ahem, anyway, the safest and most direct route to the Big Farm aint so safe no more. The road takes you right past the old airport, and that place is overrun with big green dudes with bigger guns. I saw a pre-war craft of some kind that they looked like they were working on. I tell you one thing - they got the mounted guns on the machine working. Drove me off right quick and I barely escaped with me life. If you're heading that way, probably best you don't just go as a 2 man crew."
He scratches his neck a little, having seemingly exhausted his willingness to be social this morning. "So, er...take care. That's it." he goes back to his table where Kali's waiting. Kali gives him an approving nod, and Felix rolls his eyes and focuses on his coffee again.

Dust the Hocus |

What will I use for pinch to score these new chems or is Abbot takin' care of all that?
I think I'll have to throw this one over to the MC. Will I have to front some/all of the barter for this (and if so how much) or can my followers take care of it?
Also just out of curiosity, how are we defining a session in a play by post game?

Dog, the pack alpha |

Dog nurses his coffee, scratching idly at his newest tattoo, as he tries to listen in on the various conversations taking place. He needs to find a gig, preferably not from Nikki Needles, before the boys get cabin fever and really lose their minds. He shoots a few looks around the room - not lingering too long on Pallor - and tries to look as inviting as a beefy, scarred, well-armed, biker can look.

Dust the Hocus |

"Don't worry, Abbot can take care of payment. I'm grateful for your help in this Runner. May the thousand suns light your way."
I sit back in my seat as I turn to Felix. "When we're done here let Abbot know that he needs to be ready to head south with Runner".
A promising start to a day like this calls for another cup I feel, so I gesture Partridge over for a refill.

DM Mooshybooshy, "the Foolish" |

Felix nods in assent and moves to obey your orders and go find Abbott. He'd probably be with the rest of the new recruits to the Hocus' cult, and therefore easy to find.
Hanging overhead in the burned-out shell that is Wolf's is an old chain of lights that provide atmospheric lighting for the patrons inside. As the morning wears on, the autoturrets light up and gun down something on the perimeter several times, followed by several more all-clear sirens. It's a heavy flow day for the local Ghoul population, it seems.
It's nearly noon when Lits and Toyota enter the establishment. They're arguing with each other - Lits with heavily lidded eyes that reveal real doubt and sarcasm, Toyota looking earnest and trying to convince her of something.
"That's why it's SAFE. It's underground, see? Shielded from the blasts. As long as the piping didn't burst in the winter, it should be practically pristine down there. A very reliable source told me -"
"And there's your problem, Toyota," Lits interrupts him, holding up a pointer finger as they both take seats at booths at the bar. "I know your "very reliable source." Your story would be much more appealing if it didn't come from a Ghoul. Who knows what those freaks consider 'safe'? For all we know it could be glowing with radiation down there." At this, Toyota rolls his eyes and scoffs.
"Now you're just being racist," he mutters. Lits, a black woman, narrows her eyes at Toyota, a white man, for saying this, but shakes her head and doesn't dignify it with a response. Instead, she looks around for Scarlet, presumably to order a drink. Wolf's is one of the best places for purified water or caffeine, after all.

Dog, bored and eager for some trouble, says "We used to have a ghoul in the Lost Boys a time ago. Don't recall his name, though. I think one of the boys killed him in his sleep. Didn't trust him I s'pose. Seemed okay though. Didn't try to eat anybody that I know of."

Pallor |

"ghouls are merely humans of old, burned by the suns of man." the strange man says in a voice muddled by his respirator. He appears to be staring out a window that was long since covered with a sheet of bolted-on corrugated tin.

DM Mooshybooshy, "the Foolish" |

Lits looks over her shoulder at Dog. With a clear tone of deferential respect in her voice, she says, "Sure thing, Dog. Ghouls are nice people too. I know that only the Ferals want to eat you. Toyota's friend isn't like that." she shakes her head. "That doesn't mean I want to brave a scav trip to the heart of downtown Feral Central, aka Saint Paul, just on his friend's insistence that there's good, preserved, pre-war loot. Ain't worth the risk."
Toyota scoffs at her and downs his coffee a little too fast. "Fvck, that's hot," he curses quietly, wiping his mouth, then sets his cup down. "Dog, I could trade the information to your gang to go check out. Should be some incredible salvage. You'd just owe me a small favor, to be collected later, for passing along such valuable intel. Maybe toss your friend Toyota a little somethin' somethin' from the loot pile." he gestures at you with his mug. "Deal?"

Dog, the pack alpha |

Dog chuckles at Lits' perfectly justified desire to not get turned into feral food. Turning to Toyota, he ventures "I guess the boys and I could scope that out for ya... but I don't wanna owe no favors." Dog's been burned before by favors and promises.
He thinks for a minute, staring menacingly at Toyota for effect. "If I come back from my trip on the Feral Central Express, you can have your pick o' something from the haul - after me - plus a cut off the top. Or you could make an offer that doesn't make me feel like I'm diggin' my own grave."

DM Mooshybooshy, "the Foolish" |

"You got yourself a deal, Dog," Toyota says to you, smiling up at you nervously as you glare at him. "That's a damn fine offer you made there, damn fine. The place I'm talking about used to be a real popular eatery and social club back in the day. Like Wolf's here, only bigger, and they served better coffee. No offense, Chief." he takes another swig from his mug and burns his lips again, cursing. "Dammit! Anyway. They called this place "Wabasha Street Caves." They used to give tours there before the war. It's built into a natural cave network and they served beer and wine and stuff in there." He sets his mug down. "There'll probably be Ferals to deal with, it's true, but the caves themselves protected some great salvage. It's east of here about 15 miles along the Great Highway."
You know from personal experience that the Great Highway is divided up into territories owned by biker gangs and raiders. It'll take you straight to the sister city of Saint Paul, where ferals have taken over.

Dog, the pack alpha |

"a troubled artery when white cells attack the red..." Pallor adds, putting the pâté can, now empty, in a pocket inside his robes. He slowly regards the inside of the lid as one would a fun-house mirror.
Regarding Pallor with a sidelong glance, Dog barks out a nervous laugh, adding "Ooooookay..." before turning back to Toyota.

Dog finishes his coffee, stands up, and stretches. "I guess I've got a gig. Hey, Two-Fingers," Dog calls across the room, "You still lookin' for work? Might be suicide, but at least we'll have a good time!"

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
Navarre sits at the bar sipping his coffee, listening to the conversation' about the history of Ghouls, 'I remember the ghoul, I remember who killed him.' watching Dog deal with Toyota Navarre smiles, he always had knack.'
When Dog turned and asked him if he was ready to work Navarre smiles and pats his Machine gun, "Stoner and ma are always for a "good time". looking around the room, making eye contact with Runner, then turning back to Dog. "Would it be best if we had a platform to set Stoner on, I may have to twist someone's arm."
Will post more later, going to reread some of the rules, do we need to make rolls to use the skills to gain experience? Or will going on missions have the same affect?

Chief the Maestro D' |

Will post more later, going to reread some of the rules, do we need to make rolls to use the skills to gain experience? Or will going on missions have the same affect?
Go on a mission; there'll be one or more interesting scenes that play out on the way. Get into a fight and Mooshy will have you roll 2d6+Hard for various battle moves, which gets you XP because your Hard is highlighted. I mean, you can Go Aggro on someone in here and get an XP if you want, but I'd rather you didn't rough up my customers without a good reason.
Another common way to get XP is if another PC manipulates you. If they hit the Seduce or Manipulate roll and choose the "carrot", then you get XP if you do what they're asking of you. If you don't mind, y'know, doing that thing.

Scarlet Tyler |

As soon as her efforts to make the Docs practice run more efficiently are stymied, Scarlet flounces over to Dog and Navarre. "You guys are murdering ghouls! Can I come with? I've got an itching to spread something's brains across a wall or two." her smooth, unlined face is simply radiant at the thought.
Remember that Scarlet is basically a kid trying to ride along with the grunts. Feel free to respond accordingly. Also, 27 posts. That's just excessive.

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |

excessive? aren't they drug fueled biker survivalists, wouldn't excessive be right in their wheelhouse?
Thanks for the tip Chief, will try and figure out a way to use "Hard" without busting up the shop.
Navarre smiles as the beautiful waitress, 'She can ride along anytime.' Navarre, following modern racism doesn't see ghouls as human, just animals."It ain't murder if their Ghouls. Let's see if we can get some space for a ride-along." Turning on his barstool, yelling across the room. "He Runner, we need a platform for the stoner and a couple of extra seats, you want to go on a run killing ghouls?"

Runner, aka Rufio |

When Navarre turns around to address Runner, he finds the gearhead no where in sight.
-
Runner takes off to prep his ride as soon as Dust had agreed to the deal.
-
The road! Oh man, has it really been two weeks since I was last out?Gotta get ready, oh man, this is gonna be good! Hope Abbot is ready quick. the Farm man were goin to the ZOOO!

Dog, the pack alpha |

Dog smirks, "I've seen the mess that shotgun of yours makes! You're more than welcome to ride along if you wanna get into some trouble." Lotsa people around the Walker put on their kid gloves around Scarlet but Dog doesn't see the point. She's a whole lot tougher than she looks by his estimation and she doesn't need a biker of all people tellin' her what crazy sh!t she can and can't get mixed up in. "You had the pleasure of ridin' on my bike yet?"

Chief the Maestro D' |

"Hey Squirrel-let. I wanna talk to you."
Chief pulls Scarlet aside, crouches down in front of her, brushes some of her bed-head hair into place.
"Listen, if you're taking the day off work there's something I want you to do for me." He leans in really close, eyes locked on hers. "When you're out there, I want you to be careful. Don't start trouble. If something happens, do what you've gotta do, but don't start shit. Will you do that for me, sweetheart?"
I'm offering Chief's continuing approval and support in exchange for Scarlet not shooting/glaiving anything that isn't actively attacking her.
You want uncomfortably Freudian? I'll give you uncomfortably Freudian.
Seduce or Manipulate: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3) + 2 = 7

Chief the Maestro D' |

On a 7-9 choose 1:
• if they do it, they mark experience
• if they refuse, erase one of their stat highlights for the remainder of the session
I will choose the carrot rather than the stick. If Scarlet doesn't start trouble on the run, she gets 1 XP.

Runner, aka Rufio |

After the initial excitement wears down a bit and his wheels are warming up, the wheels in Runner's head start turning as well.
-
Oh blarg, I forgot to get a gunner.
And I bet Abbot is more of a lead singer than a lead slinger.
Plus how could I forget that Gams might wanna hear about this new drug source.
Better swing by and chat with her first before heading out.
-
Runner heads to meet with Gams hoping to score a sweet deal with her that includes a muscle-head with a big gun.
He starts mentally rehearsing his Barter Banter and steeling his resolve for what he knows she will ask of him; what she ALWAYS asks of him.
-
What is with that woman's obsession with strange sex.
I can dig a roll with her but man, why the kink and crazy fetish?
Oh well, you ain't got much choice these days. Can't be as bad as last time.

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
would it be 'read a sitch' or 'read a person' if Navarre wanted to nib on Scarlet's and Chief's 'private conversation?
'That's Runner for you always running. Always running when he needs to wait and listen. Always running when he needs to fight and always running when he needs to plan. And he still wonders why dog ousted him.' Realizing, after he had yelled across the room, that Runner had left, Navarre returns his attention to his coffee nodding as dog invites Scarlet along, glaring at him over the cup when he hints that the petite beauty should ride with 'the dog.'
'Maybe I can get a leg up on dog, try and get in on her good side.' Seeing Chief pull Scarlet aside, Navarre tries to listen in on their conversation, wanting to figure the girl out.
sharp: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6 either way I think all that's going to figure out is that Scarlet is definitely a girl.

Read a Sitch is for a "charged situation", a situation where violence is likely about to happen. Here, that wouldn't seem to apply (unless you're going to start the violence; a PC can always choose to make a situation "charged").
Read a Person normally only applies if you're talking to a person directly; it gives you insight into the conversation, like are they telling the truth and what do they wish I'd do. You need to talk to Scarlet herself if you want to roll Read a Person on her.
There's one other move that's useful for getting information, and that's Open Your Brain. You can let the psychic maelstrom in and sometimes you learn something from it, and sometimes it learns something from you. In your case, that's risky, because you have -1 Weird, so bad things are likely to happen to you if you try it, but on the other hand, your Weird is highlighted, so you'd at least get an XP for it.

Satisfied that preparations for the night ahead are taken care of I leave Wolf's shortly before noon. Pulling my robe close to hold back the cold air I walk back to the North tower and descend the stairs to the gallery where my followers have combined a few of the partitions into a rec space.
I look around me as I enter and see that Kali and Charm reclined in one corner on tattered cushions. Between them sits a tripod holding a glass jar of clear liquid. A small flame below causes the liquid to bubble gently and emit a thick white smoke which Kali and Charm take deep lungfuls of as they pass a length of pipe back and forth. As I cross the room I can hear them dreamily debating the nature of the Blind God's divinity.
On the opposite side of the room Omega holds a bowl of thick black pigment, a mixture of oil and charcoal, while with the other hand he adds to the intricate latticework of geometric designs which cover the walls, reverentially applying the mixture with a brush made from his own fine white hair.
I sit cross legged in the centre of the room and turn on each of the interconnected boxes which make up the equipment I need to make my music. I reach into a tin set to one side of my gear and remove a small pouch. A pinch of snuff later and I begin to feel a sense of alertness wash over me and the black marks on the walls seem to come into sharp focus. My hands begin to work the switches and dials almost of their own accord, sometimes in familiar patterns other times in wild new ones, as I practice for the night ahead.

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
Thanks chief, was waiting to see if anyone was posting...
I sit back in my seat as I turn to Felix. "When we're done here let Abbot know that he needs to be ready to head south with Runner".
'Well at least Dog has headed out to get the boys, may as well invite her along' Turning to Scarlet, Navarre smiles giving her a knowing look, "Glad to hear your coming along Scarlet, Dog has to share everything with the boys If you don't want to get caught up in that you can ride with Me." Stopping to think for a moment, "Or maybe we can track down something with four wheels instead of two, give me a moment."
Realizing that he may still get Runner and the jeep involved Navarre heads over to Dust's table. "Dust, you've got Runner doing some leg work for you, I want to talk to him before he leaves. Why don't you tell me where he is going to be at so I don't have to beat it out of Felix here?" Navarre turns to Felix. "Lets just cut out the middle man Felix, You tell me where Runner is going, if you don't know tell me who does or I'm going to pistol whip you."
going to try this again: Felix tells Navarre where Runner is going or he will hit him with the pistol.
Go Aggro: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5) + 3 = 9
Dust ninja'd my post, Just saw that Dust left around noon, this would have happened before then, that's what I get for waiting, sorry Dust,
