		About Chief the Maestro D'
Chief is the Maestro of Wolf’s, a gathering spot in Walker’s Hold. He is a man in his late 20s, in casual wear with leather accessories, with an expressive face, frank eyes, a lean body, and nervous hands.
My stats: Cool+0, Hard+1, Hot+2, Sharp+1, Weird-1.
My moves:
• Fingers In Every Pie: put out the word that you want a thing, person, somethin-somethin, and roll+hot. On a 10+, it shows up in your establishment like magic. On a 7-9, your people make an effort and close is close, right? On a miss, it shows up in your establishment with strings wicked attached.
• Everybody Eats, Even That Guy: when you want to know something about someone important, roll+hot. On a 10+, ask 3 questions; on a 7-9, ask 1. On a miss, ask 1, but they hear about your interest in them.
- how are they doing? what’s up with them?
- who do they know, like, and/or trust?
- how could I get to them, physically or emotionally?
- what or who do they love best?
- when next should I expect to see them?
• You Call This Hot?: when you do something under fire, roll+hot instead of roll+cool.
• Sixth Sense: when you open your brain to the world’s psychic maelstrom, roll+sharp instead of +weird.
• Hypnotic: Hypnotic: when you have time and solitude with someone, they become fixated upon you. Roll+hot. On a 10+, hold 3. On a 7–9, hold 2. They can spend your hold, 1 for 1, by:
• Giving you something you want.
• Acting as your eyes and ears.
• Fighting to protect you.
• Doing something you tell them to.
For NPCs, while you have hold over them they can’t act against you. For PCs, instead, any time you like you can spend your hold, 1 for 1:
• They distract themselves with the thought of you. They're acting under fire.
• They inspire themselves with the thought of you. They take +1 right now.
On a miss, they hold 2 over you, on the exact same terms.
My establishment is called Wolf’s. It used to be the Wolfgang Puck restaurant in Walker Center. It’s primarily a coffee shop and meeting place (during the day), and drugs and sex are readily available there as well (at night). It offers velvet, shadows, intimacy, and intrigue. There’s a small common area with a coffee bar, a few tables, and a prominent sign on the wall reading “NO STIMULANTS AFTER 5 PM”. The rest of the space is a maze of red velvet curtains with private booths, low lighting, plenty of cushions, and so on.
Scarlet Tyler the Battlebabe works as a waitress here. A fellow named Wisher keeps the place clean. He’s got a weird misshapen body but he’s sweet as a mango and nearly as smart. If you come in at night looking for… personal... services for reasonable prices, we’ve got you covered: our lady Clarion is a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice and a beautiful body. If more you’re into men, there’s Hugo, lean and pretty and stronger than he looks. If they don’t do it for you, I’ll set you up with Ula, who’s not so much into the whole gender thing but knows ropes and whips like whoa. I couldn’t run the place without Partridge, who fills in doing a little of everything. She seems a little spacey sometimes but she always seems to know what needs to be done next.
You can find Lamprey, Ba, Camo, Toyota, and Lits there at least a couple times a week. Lits and Toyota are usually there in the morning for coffee. Toyota meets a lot of people here to talk but I don't know much about them. Lits is my best regular: a tough fighter, but she’s friendly and never starts trouble. Ba and Lamprey are night-timers. Lamprey is really tall, spooky, and likes weird semi-public sex. Ba is round and quiet, likes to get so high he’s practically a liquid. Camo drops in in the afternoons, and he's the worst regular; he’s rude, crude, and loud, messing up the vibe of the place. I wouldn’t let him in at all except he’s got coin and he’s got dope.
I owe Rolfball for the place. He and I used to be lovers; we opened the place together. Rolfball made the excursions to find coffee and other things to serve while I actually kept the place running and we split the business 60-40. After one run he came back… different. He doesn’t want anything to do with me or the place any more, and I’m trying to figure out how to buy out his share.
Gams might be a way to make that happen. She wants in on the business, but I'm wary, because she wants to sell a ton of drugs, and that could screw up the vibe and piss off Paul Atreides. I actually work pretty hard to make sure the drug use at Wolf's stays reasonably moderate.
And now I’m hearing about some a~$$@@~ named Been. Been wants to get rid of Wolf's, take over the space completely for some other purpose, and I don’t know why. It’s possible it has something to do with the auditorium on the next floor up? Fortunately, Atreides has a healthy respect for coffee, so I’m not too worried. Yet.
And it’s not like we’re defenseless if someone tries to make a move. We watch each other’s backs and Everybody’s Packing (the staff is a 2-harm gang small 0-armor), and there’s a Convenient Shotgun behind the counter (3-harm, close, reload, messy).
While I'm a pretty nice guy most of the time, everyone remembers the time I opened up a guy's forearm with a wicked serrated bread knife (2-harm hand) and between the leather pants, vest, and bracers I wear I’m protected for 1-armor.
Improvements taken:
• Get a new Maestro D' move (You Call This Hot?)
• Get a move from another playbook (Sixth Sense)
• Get a move from another playbook (Hypnotic)
