Welcome everyone.
This being an evil campaign I feel I must set some things clear before we start.
First, you may be evil not IDIOTS, by that I mean, betraying your allies for little reason, killing people just for fun, and that short of thing are out. I will enforce this if I must but I trust we're all adult enough to play evil but believable character.
Second, since the group are not paragons of virtue some enemies may be, but others will be WORSE than you, expect to fight the kind of characters that are beyond redemption, a bandit may be put to work for you, but their leader surely would be the kind of sick bastard even you feel needs killing.
Third, I feel one of the main pros of an evil campaign is that evil can be PROACTIVE, by that I mean, if you want your character to plan something long term you can either discuss it over here or PM me and we'll do our best to incorporate it to the game.
Fourth, as I said your enemies will be BAD MEN, but if anyone has some kind of thing they absolutely don't want to see in game please tell me so I can avoid it.
Now, I hope we all enjoy the game and have lots of fun. I'll put up a IC post later today so you can dot it, and am hoping to start the campaign as soon as everyone has confirmed they're in.

Greetings all
Eager to subjugate the Stolen Lands with you
Ps. I think by now everyone knows how hard it is to get on the forums
Maren Azurill
Hello, fellow tyrannically-bent individuals! I'm on my phone at the moment, so I'll be brief. I'm looking forward to this, as I haven't sunk my teeth in vile plots in a while.
Maren will be inherently skills based after this level, as he'll be an investigator, with a heavy social bent.
Something Wicked is running one of the best PbP games I've ever be a part of, so even if there is conflict, it'd be tasteful and enjoyable to all involved.
Maren Azurill
Him. Looking at the characters, I noticed there are no full BaB submissions. I never had my eye set on Maren's class, so I might consider remaining pure swashbuckler. I'll still be able to shore up the knowledge department, and be a heavily social character, so let me know what you think?
Luthian
The site making it very hard to add my character details to the profile
So ignore the current stats....

Thanks for the selection! I'm very excited to get to play with everyone (especially Maren, who I know from another game).
I've had a heck of a time getting on the boards, and now I work through the evening. We're also moving out of our house this week! I'll try to create an alias by the night's end, though. By next week things should be a little calmer.
Also want to emphasize that, even though Johund is chaotic, he isn't crazy (well...) , and I intend to keep him reigned in where possible.

Okay alias created, please let me know if there are any issues. I'll try to get a post up late tonight. Thanks!

Question about the opening:
It's been several weeks since the party left Brevoy, financed by a mysterious benefactor that offered them support to establish a buffer territory between the northern kingdom and the River Kingdoms.
When you say we are "financed" does this have an effect on our starting equipment?
Is there a text for the charter and is it different from the one in the original module?
Do we actually know that a kingdom is being set up? In the original AP the characters don't know this until they are 4th level or so (though the players generally know). So is this in-character knowledge?
Evil_DM_Keddah
At the end of Book 1 the characters receive some resources to begin building their kingdom. In your case these will come from a different source than standard Kingmaker. Your characters will also receive a weekly stipend as long as they attain the objectives established in their charter. The charter is very similar to standard but not identical, I'll post the modified version as soon as I can.
Also is anyone having trouble with the New posts feature? I just realised it wasn't working for me.
Maren Azurill
Bah. Paizo was being wonky all day. :(
I'll see if I can get something up, but I need to leave for work soon.
EDIT: I've picked up the Brigand campaign trait, so I'll take 2 mules complete with saddlebags. That would probably settle us for any loot, since those two can carry a LOT. I might need Luthian's help with them occasionally, as he's the only one with Handle Animal.
Felix "Lucky Gits" Season
Well in Asmodean Lore the husband has any right to beat his wive!
And I thought we are the bad guys. Beating up our own wive, if we start behaving like good guys, whats up with us. Especially as an Antipaladin of Tyranny, shouldn´t you giggeling sit back and eat popcorn while he is a houshold tyrant! ;-)
Folks help me how does everyone of you tick....
This is a great opportunity.

I do not damage my belongings. If you had an expensive car you're not going to put dents in it.
I use my toys and belongings. Yes. But I never abuse. If my people like me. Makes it easier to get away with less savoury things

1 person marked this as a favorite.
I set this scene as an opportunity for some characters to show that they may not have principles but they have STANDARDS.
When I've GMed evil campaigns in RL I've seen that players enjoy the thought process of "I may be a bastard that murders his enemies in their sleep and enslaves their families, but there's depths even I wouldn't sink to. At least if there's no benefit to it"
And being evil means being selfish. Helping someone because it can benefit you later isn't a good action in my opinion.
Johund Struckland
Yep, this is an interesting way to test our boundaries.
According to the Six River Freedoms, part of Hanspur's Canon, slavery is an abomination, so Johund views servitude or abuse as an unfair restraint. Unless servitude is your thing, then by all means be subjugated.
He's not looking to be a freedom fighter, though. a crusade is a bloody, useless business. Bloodied water isn't fit for drinking. Best to dump the bodies downriver.

There is a difference between beating and punishing.
People and animals are not the same

Ratna "Rat" Mahajan
On Rat's end, anyways, and the reason they're offering to help the woman, is mostly because they tend to view other people as resources before they view them as people. A person in a bad situation - say, a battered wife - is easier to find the price of. The man, who knows what he might want or need, money or a dangerous favor or what have you, but Rat knows right off the bat what they need to do to earn the woman's trust. And, more importantly, what they need to do to make her owe them. Favors are more valuable than gold, to Rat.
Rat also kind of wants to know how far they can push her to go. Because, again, as far as resources go, a thug is a dime a dozen. Rat has access to those as long as they have gold. A bitter and desperate woman, maybe one who might be able to be talked into murdering her husband, can be used later in any number of interesting ways. So they view this as an opportunity to test some limits, a chance to possibly gain a smuggler or an informant later down the line, and a way to possibly help the group right now. Who's going to charge the people who just saved you from abuse for a room? At the very least, not full price.
This is the kind of thing Rat is also likely going to be trying to do a lot of, and they'll be happy to go into why, exactly, a self-proclaimed selfish bastard is giving money to the homeless if asked, but. I got an opportunity to ramble about my characters, so I'm gonna take it.

I believe so, but if they end up working for us, then they wouldn't be bandits any more. but we need to cut the head off of the snake before we can utilise the skin. and i doubt This Gromly is the head of the snake
To everyone, if there is something you would like to clarify about Luthian, ask away :) i am assuming we have been travelling together long enough that we know each other by now

Why don't you use a short sword at 1st level? They're pretty cheap. Do you need to keep your hands free for something?
Luthian
1d6 and 1d4, well, i guess its a slight increase :P
