"Hardly, but I have a suspicion of his identity. Our elusive wizard, Master Hunclay. The late Master Hunclay, I fear..." Kane mused, frowning a bit. Sad, really. Always hard to see an academic go like this... though it raised the question of WHAT he was doing to be caught in a collapse like this.
Kane noted the key ring and lifted it up, studying the pair of keys. "Most curious. Answer one question, only for it to be replaced by more questions. The biggest one being: why would kobolds be interested in slaying a local wizard?" Standing up, Kane pocketed the keys, before readying his axe again.
"Fortunately, I speak Draconic quite well... what say we find one and ask it directly?"
GM Eldbale of Evergale
Sheridan Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Stone joins Kane in examining the body. He takes notice of the keys as well before the academic pockets them. As far as the body is concerned, this man was definitely crushed by stone and earth. His body is quite battered and bruised, and the blood matted hair is mostly dry. While examining the body, you happen to glance to the north.
Urchin Stone
"The blood in the hair looks slightly damp so his death must have coincided with the tower collapse."
He then points to the two kobold bodies under a layer of earth and stone still clutching their spades.
"Here lie two more of the kobold sappers. The method of bringing down the tower is no longer in question. But, was this simply over obstructing the wizard's view?"
The cleric considers something for a moment.
"I think the collapse must have released the ghoul. Hopefully there are not more about, but there are several areas of this complex that appear to have been untouched from the time of its original fall."
He stands up and keeps his crossbow trained in the direction of the passageway.
"Yantri, can you look to see if the ghoul tracks are on top of the collapsed portion? I am thinking your tracking skills might help read us the story printed on the earth in here. A chance to show some of your woodswise skills."
He smiles genuinely.
Sheridan Driftwood
Sheridan checks the small alcove in the north-west corner of the chamber, then moves on into the tunnel to the north.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Sheridan is blissfully unaware of how badly he is doing his job.
Yantri
Yantri nods as she moves forward. "I can look. The recent movement of all the rocks and dust will probably hide older tracks, but anything since the collapse should be easy enough to find." The dwarf is in no hurry, and, relying on Sheridan's watchful eyes to the north, focuses on the ground, looking for tracks that might have been left by the ghoul, kobolds or the wizard.
"Someone should check those kobold bodies to see if we can confirm how they died. If they scuffled with the ghoul some, it'll have left marks on them most likely. If it was the cave-in then we'll still need to be on the lookout for whatever it had encountered before us."

Okay, I'm botting the party to move things forward, and to get us out of this dungeon!
The party continues north, through the tunnel. After everything they've encountered, they're finally seeing things pertaining to the morning's events, and you might could there is a air of grim excitement amongst the group. Excitement because they may actually get some answers and finish the task they were charged with. Grim because of all they had to experience, and lose, to get to this point.
As you head up the tunnel, you come to a split; a fork. Sheridan scouts north briefly and reports back that he discovered a hole in the ground that leads to a narrow, four-feet-wide tunnel that heads to the east.
The party hears sounds coming from path that leads west from the fork.
As they approach the sounds are easier to hear, but not necessarily easier to understand.
"Çfarë do të shkojmë për të bërë? Nëse i kemi zemëruar njerëzit, ata me siguri do të vijnë pas nesh!"
"Edhe nëse nuk e bëjnë, ndëshkimi ynë do të jetë i madh! Shefi me siguri do të ketë bishtin tonë për këtë!"
"Të qetë, budallenj! Dikush po vjen. Vrasni ata dhe ndëshkimi ynë mund të pakësohet!"
"What are we going to do? If we have angered the humans, they shall surely come after us!"
"Even if they do not, our punishment will be great! The chieftain will surely have our tails for this!"
"Quiet, fools! Someone is coming. Kill them and our punishment may be lessened!"
As Sheridan rounds the corner, an arrow flies right at him, piercing his shoulder!

Sparks fly from Sheridan's mouth as he unleashes a brilliantly poetic string of ingnan expletives, eyes aglow. Each strike of his sap sounds against the kobold's spear, sending tremors down the shaft and into the creature's arms. It will never end, he seems to say. When their strength flags and their tools break, he will be there to strike the anvil. When the plants die and the sky darkens with smoke, he will be there to strike the anvil. When the earth falls away into the sea, he will be there to strike the anvil.

Kane grit his teeth as the arrow cut through. That was probably going to leave a mark. Certainly were rude little creatures! And very presumptuous, too! Draconic is a raw and powerful language, capable of great feats of magic!
In fact...
Stepping around Yantri, Kane angled himself just right, waving his axe and chanting words. In draconic, no less! Perhaps it was time to show these little brutes what true mastery of their parent tongue could do!
The runes on Kane's axe began to glow, shifting from vibrant color to vibrant color, before blasting forth and splattering themselves onto the ground, the wall, the tunnel ceiling... and of course, the kobolds, leaving a wide array of bright colors everywhere!
Stepping 5 feet to between Yantri and Sheridan, and casting Color Spray (DC 14) on the kobolds. I think I can angle it between Yantri and Sheridan. Forgot I had that saved up!

5-foot step.
Sheridan shifts into a flanking position with Yantri. With the creature finally distracted, he is able to choose his strikes more carefully.

But, then again, being surrounded on all sides, one versus many, can instill quite a bit of fear in an individual. Sesserak felt it but steeled herself. Still, the fear would affect her.
Stone still to act.

Stone crosses the distance with vengeance in his eyes.
”If you will not yield to words and reason—Then you shall yield to steel!”
The cleric brings down his blade upon the stricken kobold.
Bastard Sword: 1d20 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 21

Stone advances and swings his sword, cutting deep into the kobold. The wound is severe but she's still conscious.
Sesserak's[b] turn!
The kobold lets its back hit the wall, holding her spear up... then she speaks in common,
[b]"Parlay! ... I yield. There's no going back anyway. But you have to guarantee my life. Then I'll talk. Parlay!"
Turn-wise, it's Yantri and Kane's turn. But anyone may speak to the kobold. But all other actions remaining in turn order.

Sheridan lets his sap hang from its loop. "I can tie up the others. Someone should block the exit. Nothing in our orders about killing thinking folk."
Yantri
Yantri's machete lowers somewhat, but she keeps it ready to swing again if needed. "We've no need to take your life here. If you'd been listening it's what we've been trying to tell you all along. From what we've seen here today, and assuming you're working with the rest of the kobolds in the area, you've lost too many of your people this day already. Put the spear down and we'll try talking and see if we can't get some things cleared up about what's happened here."
The dwarf stays between the obvious exit and the remaining kobold, giving the others room to work to tend to and tie the unconscious bodies.
GM Eldbale of Evergale
The kobold eyes Yantri for a moment, makes a sound almost like a sigh of resignation, and leans against the wall. She holds her spear upright for support.
"Hmph. I forgot you humans value the One over the Tribe. Foolish. Yet that is where I found myself. Failure is not tolerated, but I do not wish to die. Not today. If I were to return, that is exactly what would happen. I am Sesserak, captain of the Blood Vow Tribe, and I failed. In exchange for my life, I offer you this...Unë nuk mund të besoj se jam gati ta bëj këtë... There is a tunnel north of here that leads back to my tribe's lair. It comes out at the... Gurore." She looks to Kane as she tries to find the right word. "Ata nxjerrin gurë. Gurore? Not used now. Flooded long time ago." The captain winces in pain for a moment, then continues addressing everyone. "Humans would be angry, I know this from the start. The ones who caused collapse are there. That is where you should go. Wizard was a fool. Hired by him to collapse tower. Make it look accidental. He said that was key. Now he's dead due to his foolishness and we've attracted the whole town's attention. The Tribe is starting to panic."
Quarry. They extract stone. Quarry?"
Sheridan Driftwood
Sheridan disarms the unconscious kobolds and binds their ankles as a precaution. Their party had enforced their control over the situation by violence, and they could not afford to rely on the gratitude of the spared kobolds. Fear is a tool and like any other tool, it is most useful when used in careful measures.
"The town will hear what we tell them. Your tribe was hired by the wizard, this tragedy is on his hands. Their leader will be glad to hear a rival was buried in his own foolish exploits. Is there some forgone payment your tribe was counting on? If the risks were obvious, I can't imagine what brought your kin to accept this task." Sheridan sounds concerned. "Perhaps the balance of your mission is still yours to tip? "
GM Eldbale of Evergale
The captain's eyes narrow as Sheridan speaks. Even with the gruff shape of her speech in the reptilian snout, her words are spoken with great disdain, as if she's spitting venom.
"Do not pretend to care about one not your own. Do not think of us as friends. Do not mistake my treachery of my own tribe as indifference to yours. My tribe hates humans. Those foolish enough to travel alone deep in the forests become our slaves. I hate you also."
She actually spits on the ground at Sheridan's feet.
"We are not comrades. You are my enemies that I failed to kill. Tell the leader of your human tribe what you want; it won't matter. You will kill my tribe. Nothing slates the desire for blood and violence; the desire for revenge. You would know this if you understood the cruelty of men. Which is why I will not be going back. Do what you want with me, but I will not be returning to my lair. I will die first!"
She looks at each of you, her loathing quite clear and visible.
