Holy crap this ability drain is for fuks!!!
Odric save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 <--IIRC that is enuff...
Odric finally breaks the humiliating compulsion. He rushes into the room, drawing the Kergerator on the run. The undead bane weapon glows, eager to seek its foe...
attack: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (7) + 21 = 28
damage: 2d4 + 22 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 22 + (4, 3) = 36
Morkeleb steps 5' and holds out his hand, ready to cast a spell if his friends' attacks don't quite finish the job
Dungeon Master S
Odric breaks free and with a shout. The Danse is ready, and takes a swing AoO: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27 for DMG: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9 and CON DRAIN: 1d4 ⇒ 4. The warrior's hit is massive, but it doesn't go down.
MORKELEB!
Round 3:
Ferox: Rain of arrows
Baddie: ATK
Morkeleb: Go
Grym: Go
Gaius: Go
Sandor: Hit
Odric: Hit
Danse Macabre: 161 (10 Temp)

Round 3
Will save 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 DC22? balls!!!
The ranger's steps seem to falter for a moment but then he slips back into a very graceful but creepy waltz of death.
Dungeon Master S
Morkeleb technically goes before Grym. I'll let that happen first.
Dungeon Master S
And thus did the Danse Macabre reach the Cota.
Morkeleb's missile pound the undead master to obvlivion.
Out of combat.
XP: 6,400 each
Dungeon Master S
The creature's party of dancers hasten and hasten as they draw nearer and nearer. Soon they swirl like water in a drain before becoming one with Death.
The music stops, and eventually the beating heart does too...
Morkeleb the Mighty
The wizard lets his staff drop to his side. This foul place's reputation is certainly well-earned
Once the group starts recovering, he turns to Gaius. did you happen to prepare a Hallow spell? If this place remains unholy, that terror will return tomorrow.
Dungeon Master S
Morkeleb thinks he might be able to pull off a teleportation to the City of Vigil. Having never been there it's a bit of a risk. If ever a place had healing available...
Dungeon Master S
I have added a map of the area to the top.
Scarwall is in the center North. You'll see Korvosa in the southwest with Kaer Maga north of that. The plateau there was where you dealt with the Shoanti and convinced them that the time to fight off the new queen was approaching.
Mike, Sandpoint is west of this map and Runeforge and Rimeskull (the entrance to Runeforge) is similarly Northwest.
You estimate it's about 750 miles to Vigil....
Ferox Kerr
Ferox collapses to the floor; his body wracked by weakness. Never in his life has he felt so frail.
By Abadar, that thing literally sucked the life out of me. I'll need to tread carefully from here on out.
Ferox takes a moment to cast Detect Magic. He struggles to his feet and on shaky legs begins a survey of the room.
Dungeon Master S
Ferox detects some magic, and it's coming from the middle of the dance floor...
The party quickly goes to work on the floor, not caring about the destruction in the slightest. Beneath is a skeleton in full military regalia, clearly someone important. His cold iron longsword, plate armor and tower shield (with beautiful rampant eagle coat-of-arms) all radiate as magical.
This is Sir Echolt Crommerand of Tamrivena. He led forces that tried to depose Kazavon. His failure led to this placement, underneath the feet of the Dance.
Sandor Stouthammer
By Torag that was a tough fight, and you say it will be back at full strength tomorrow? Heck we should bring that statue of Kazavon in here maybe send the Danse up the ladder. . Sandor adds with a chuckle.
He approaches Ferox, and offers him a drink of the dwarven stout. Here lad this always makes me feel better. You deserve it. We all deserve it. the last is with a sigh of wondering what this castle has in store for us next.
Morkelb if your traveling this time, I would like a break from this place, and that holy city sound like it's something I should see. Besides if you didn't jiggle the lads bits from the last trip, I feel like it's something I should experience since he won't stop talking about it.

know(nobility): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
i don't recognize the sigul
He looks at the magical items...
spellcraft: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (13) + 19 = 32
spellcraft: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
spellcraft: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (13) + 19 = 32
Dungeon Master S
+2 full plate armor. Clutched to its breast is a +1 holy cold iron longsword and at his side is a +1 tower shield
Thorgrym the Tracker
+1 holy cold iron long sword? Grym tries to be subtle and guage the other warriors interest in the blade. But he obviously thinks it would pair well with Shark Slayer.

Once the group starts recovering, he turns to Gaius. did you happen to prepare a Hallow spell? If this place remains unholy, that terror will return tomorrow.
With a bitter laugh, Gaius replies, I'll need a fair bit more time studying before I'm able to cast that spell, Enchanter. I'm afraid not. I can Consecrate the ground. Will that have the desired effect? If not, I say we move Sir Corpse here and seal this room.

Sandor, here's the XP

Aah...I misremembered that you had prepared Consecrate. For some reason I'm less able to concentrate since coming here.... maybe it's the wisdom damage. Or Str drain. Or Con drain
DMS will Consecrate work or must it be Hallow?

I'll need to wait until back in NH to answer

Dungeon Master S
Yes, it must be a Hallow spell. That will cancel the Unhallow of this room, and Morkeleb thinks, the Danse Macabre.
Chris Marsh

You don't *think* so

Ferox Kerr
Could we acquire a scroll of Hallow and cast it before the dancers return?
Sandor Stouthammer
Could we acquire a scroll of Hallow and cast it before the dancers return?
I'm not sure how it would work from a scroll cast, but the spell casting time is 24 hours, and it counters, but doesn't dispel any unhallow effect.
Morkeleb the Mighty
Ferox Kerr
Well, if Morkeleb thinks this isn't an anchor for the evil in Scarwall, why don't we just leave and never come back. We have the loot.
Dungeon Master S
Go ahead and place yourselves where you want to go!
Morkeleb the Mighty
since I'm not going to "Call" going up that trapdoor/ladder that the Compulsion was going to send us up (not without a majority--or possibly unanimous--vote), we'll try these stairs up.
Grym, Gaius, and Bucho listen
Perception, Grym: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35 +2 underground, +4 urban
Perception, Bucho: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 Add Favored Enemies
Perception, Gaius: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
Gaius then checks for traps
Perception, Traps: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 = 26
Dungeon Master S
The stairs are quiet, and lead to a balcony on the second floor. From here you hear gargoyles in the distance, but nothing more.
Dungeon Master S
No, there are no doors there, you don't know how to get there...for now.
Morkeleb the Mighty
Understood. Let's do the stairs down, on this wing. I can't move pogs at this time...
Grym, Gaius, and Bucho listen
Perception, Grym: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31 +2 underground, +4 urban
Perception, Bucho: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25 Add Favored Enemies
Perception, Gaius: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
Gaius then checks for traps
Perception, Traps: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28
Dungeon Master S
You're now using the second floor map.
This double door of bronze is so tarnished that it appears almost black. Cast in bas-relief on its exterior are gruesome images of devils and priests cavorting among the corpses and tortured souls of the damned. A skull and spiked chain overlook the entire scene from the center of the doors. A heavy wheel is set into the center of each door.
Unfortunately the door team can see that the door has been Stone Shaped to have a lip on it meaning it'll take some time (or another Stone Shape) to get the door opened.
Gaius Lirsiiv
That's why I prepped it...twice...do it
Hold on there, Hoss Morkeleb.
Gaius casts Detect Magic on the door.
My gut tells me that spelling out way around this may spring a trap. We may need to solve the puzzle with the wheels.
Chris, can you give me some more deets on the door and the wheels? Are they adorned or marked in any way?
Dungeon Master S
They are neither adorned, nor marked. It also doesn't radiate as magic. That being said, you get a bad feeling about where this goes...
Ferox Kerr
The Stone Shape is on this side of the door. So, someone cast it to keep others from going inside or something coming out. I'm going to assume that something very scary is on the other side. Unfortunately, we have four undead keeping the sword chained here. I'm not clear if we've even dispatched any of them. We don't really have a choice but to explore every nook in the hell hole. I vote we proceed, though it'll probably be the death of me.
Dungeon Master S
The weakened Inquisitor shows his mettle, urging Morkeleb to release the door.
The enchanter weaves his dweomer and the stone bends to his will like it was wet clay. The doors open, and the story continues.
The floor of this foyer is tiled in blood-red marble. A altar resembling a skull, its lower section wrapped in iron chains and its top cut off flat to form a level surface, stands in an alcove
to the east. A ten-foot-diameter pool of what appears to be stagnant water, its rim fashioned of white marble, sits in the western alcove opposite the altar.
Sandor Stouthammer
Sandor takes a long hard stare into the room then glances at the Stout warrior next to him. On three Lad?
Thorgrym the Tracker
The ranger looks suspiciously at the pool of stagnant water. He gives his nod to Sandor and Odric that he is ready. When they enter the room. Grym heads first to the pool. He avoids touching but sees if he can see any obvious danger.
Assuming nothing jumps out right away. Grym set Bucho to guard the pool while he helps search the rest of the room.
