Anyone else having trouble posting tonight? Just had to "webpage not available" errors.

FYI, I ungrouped Kaisharga and Amaranti. I don't think Amaranti would have ridden the eidolon in a crowded elevator on a way to read more boring books...

"OOOH! LOOKS LIKE THIS DAY IS GOING TO BE MUCH MORE INTERESTING! NICE TO HAVE SOME SNACKS WAITING!"

A devil there, and invisible opponents somewhere. Unfortunately, nothing to bite right now. But judging from the beer-smelling priest's poor attempt to bluff, the invisible opponents might not be so invisible for much longer. So the giant worm prepares itself to sink it's teeth into any opponent that comes too close.

Ready action: Attack enemy if one comes or appears on Kaisharga's reach
Just a reminder: Kaisharga has Bodyguard feat, so adjacent allies might get +2 AC

"Dammit you coward Nigel! If I find out you were in on this I'm going to ram this devil's horn up your arse!" Cyrus shouts.

He takes comfort in Lort and Kaisharga's eagerness to do battle, and eagerly awaits his chance to jump in the fray.

I've read up on devils for so many days in the lodge library that my eyes went crossed looking for Auxziauk. All I know though is this doesn't look like a contract devil. Just the same, I still need to figure out how I can kill that freak without breaking the contract anyways...

Gunari's move:

As a swift action, Gunari will cast Invisibility Purge (Yes, this is a personal spell!) This will light up any invisible creatures within 45' (with line of effect, of course!).

He'll then step up, draw Cayden's Churchkey and attack the red creature with vital strike/power attack. If cover, I am assuming GM Bold Strider is handling

+2 keen rapier, vital strike, PA: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 damage: 2d8 + 11 ⇒ (8, 6) + 11 = 25 (Sigh! What a waste!)

Lort sends out a blast of holy energy, but there are no obvious results from the effort as Kaisharga merely readies itself for combat.

The two invisible creatures lash out violently at Lort as the devil continues to attack its only viable target from its position: Ibid.

The unseen enemies quickly attack Lort, striking through his defenses with surprising accuracy. Each attack is followed by a rush of wind over the half-orc, tousling his hair.

Damage: 2d10 + 12 + 12 ⇒ (10, 1) + 12 + 12 = 35

The creature repeatedly strikes Ibid in quick succession in his already gaping chest and as the man finally reacts, his wounds begins to seep blood.

Ibid, feeling drowsy from the rapid blood loss, collapses on the floor as he is about to draw a weapon as Gunari steps forward and blasts the area with magic, trying to show the hidden creatures.

As the spell washes over the area, two strange creatures are revealed. Identical aside from the color of their robes, these creatures have milky-white eyes and a proboscis-like tongue snaking out over its distended jaw.

Seeing the Caydenite rush at him, the illuminated creature dodges the sword strike and flees behind some boxes, dodging any retaliation from the warpriest.

Lort sees the eyes of the blue-robed creature flash before it moves behind some boxes as well.

I need one Will Save against Enchantment (Mind-Affecting; Compulsion) from everyone.

GM:

G@13;L@9;K@5: 6d20 ⇒ (2, 8, 4, 10, 19, 2) = 45

The two creature's faces remained burned into the minds of Lort, Gunari and Kaisharga, but only the blue-robed one seems to have left an imprint beyond their appearance.

Lort/Gunari/Kaisharga Only:
The creature's appearance and presence are difficult to fix in one's mind. Once the creature moves out of line of sight of a creature (or otherwise becomes unseen), that creature must succeed at a Will save (saves already rolled) or be unable recall the last known location or direction of the creatire. Such a creature cannot recall the details or nature of their encounter with the creature, though it retains a vague recollection that the encounter occurred.

Lort and Gunari remember the Blue and Lort saw where it went, but Kaisharga only remember hearing the Red on the other side of the boxes, but can't be sure of its location (due to Cover).

Shaking off the memories of some other creature, Lort notes where the other one is rushing to but it starts too far away for him to reach in plate mail. He elects instead to make his fight with the bearded devil.

The old man steps off the elevator and catches the briefest glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye. Some distance away there is a blur of movement and suddenly a shockwave of sapping weakness and warmth washes over Ibid. He can barely stand as his knees begin to wobble and nearly give out, and although he knows he is deadly peril, the first sensations of pain have not yet reached his brain.

Ahead of the old man, the creature with an unmistakable reddish tinge moves once more and its oddly shaped, jutting outline causes Ibid's memory to harken back. There is a familiar yet dreaded smell in his nose that seems to coalesce, forming the fragment of something from his past he hoped to long ago forget, but that would continue to haunt him until the end of his days. Something unfelt collides with his chest, only registered for Ibid by a violent tremor that grips his body, at that instant his vision is blotted out by utter darkness as the forming memory simultaneously comes to life before his unseeing eyes.

Ibid falls ungracefully to the ground, as in his mind the image of the red creature actually standing before him takes on the visage of ancient foe with scarlet skin and draped in countless sheets of tangled parchment, each worth price of a mortal's soul.

@ GM Bold Strider:
Lort had channeled positive energy at the start of the fight. Would Ibid have gained this 11hp and would this have (at least initially) stopped the bleed damage? Though Ibid was hit again so the bleed damage would have started fresh anyway, regardless.

Ibid:
The channel was done "to harm", so you would have gained no HP from the effect.

Lort struggles with his inner voice. Want to hit these things, but Ibid is bleeding out... Gunari is doing really well, he can actuallly see who he's fighting... just one more attack, I guess... and then... then I'll tend to him... or...

"Should I help Ibid?" he asks, ignoring the voice in his head and seeking help from his friends for once, "Or attack whatever just attacked me?"

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Level 9, #-2

Ah, hang it. Sorry Ibid, just can't see Lort rushing back to help when there's something right in his face. I don't want to risk a channel in case I end up healing one of these chumps.

"Never mind," Lort yells back, "I'll get Ibid soon... just one one go at this thing..."

Lort decides to take care of his little problem first. He's pretty sure he knows where the creature is (after all, it had to move before it attacked him) and decides to go all out. The magical speed granted to him by Amaranti flows through his veins and he exults in the sensation.

Lort greatsword attack #1, power attack, furious focus, haste: 1d20 + 15 - 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 15 - 2 + 2 + 1 = 26
Miss chance #1, 50% (high good): 1d100 ⇒ 31 -- Poop.

Lort greatsword attack #2 (iterative), power attack, haste: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 10 - 2 + 1 = 17
Miss chance #2, 50% (high good): 1d100 ⇒ 2 -- Argh!

Lort greatsword attack #3 (haste), power attack, haste: 1d20 + 15 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 15 - 2 + 1 = 34
Miss chance #3, 50% (high good): 1d100 ⇒ 73 -- At last!
Damage, power attack, vicious: 2d6 + 10 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 10 + 6 + (5, 6) = 38
Self harm: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Lort greatsword attack #3 crit confirm: 1d20 + 15 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 15 - 2 + 1 = 25
Crit damage, power attack: 2d6 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 10 + 6 = 25

So that's 63 damage if a 25 confirms, 38 damage otherwise... unless it's not in that square!

Lort swings away with a flurry of blows that even a monk might be jealous of. With each swing, the half-orc things all I have to do is connect!

Cyrus has devolved from babbling incoherently in a lost dialect of Varisian to hammering the hilt of his wakizashi into his cranium.

Lort takes three massive swings into the square from where he was hit, but the creature appears to have vacated its space in favor of avoiding a direct thrashing from the half-orc.

I don't mean to argue, but Cyrus can't have drawn his weapon yet... He has been confused from the get-go, and never got the chance to draw it. That's why I didn't roll damage for myself. I was assuming that is why you didn't roll damage for me up above either. If I am wrong I certainly won't argue with minimum damage. :)

And seriously, with the insane amount of gear and consumables we have, how are we so upside down in this fight? Oi. I hope we survive the opening encounter... The BBEG is going to be interesting in this one...

You are right on the wakizashi not being in your hand (that was me conflating the actions before I realized there was a missed save), however you would just punch yourself in the face at that point, I think, so the damage would still be applied. The previous roll didn't damage you because I rolled 42 which is just babble incoherently.

You know I looked at that probably 4 times and saw 52 each time. That's why I convinced myself that he didn't have anything in his hand and wouldn't have hurt himself. Totally my screw up there. Sorry!

"Gods be damned! Where is that thing?!" screams Lort, clearly frustrated. He unusually takes no satisfaction from the completely obliterated sacks the creature used to be standing amongst.

"Gunari! Could use your aura of no-invisibility over here! I'm getting pounded!" shouts Lort.

Don't feel you need to abandon your strategy, Gunari... Lort's just panicking. Actually... just looked up the spell: with a 45ft radius and Gunari's current position, won't invisibility purge be revealing everything on the tactical map right now?

Only if Invisibility Purge does not work - and Lort I am so sorry, I will be right back!

Finarin looks around at the humans that seem completely disorganized and incoherent except for Amaranti.

Well this is not going very well.

Grabbing a handful of ground mica, Finarin begins to chant and throws the mica into the air.

Suddenly shimmering dust begins to rain down from the ceiling, coating all creatures in magical, glittering dust. Move back, cast Glitterdust Will DC 17 or Blinded

@GM: Kaisharga has fly speed of 70. Wouldn't he have reached the enemy last turn, and be able to attack last round?

The great winged worm continues on it's current flight pattern. The wings stop beating for a moment, and the massive body glides through the air above the enemy. Then it is just a flurry of teeth as Kaisharga strikes the odd creature from it's elevated position.

It appears that the creature had moved slightly before Lort's attack as the glitter shows that if the half-orc had only pivoted about 45 degrees, then he may have hit the creature.

The creature just appears to be a hulking form of malevolence, but Lort thinks he has seen a rough interpretation of the creature before...

---

On the other end of the area, Kaisharga realizes that the creature must have been messing with its memories as it looks like it has already bitten the creature, but the giant worm doesn't remember doing so.

Either way, Kaisharga rends the fallen creature's flesh twice more, causing it to cry out psychically in pain before perishing.

Witnessing Finarin's unsuccessful attempt to reveal the invisible attacker with Glitterdust makes Amaranti to reconsider his strategy. The old man bleeding at his feet, the young ninja act all strange next to him, and Lort heavily wounded. This battle was not going well, indeed.

In how many ways we must try to see these things?

Amaranti grabs a scroll from his belt, and reads it. The invisible cannot no longer hide from Amaranti's eyes.

Knowing where the enemies are now means that he's going to struggle to get over to Ibid without being knocked unconscious - or dead - first! At least the Caydenite had a hope of getting positioned well enough to exclude the hulking beasts from his burst of healing energies.
