Ethendril is little help deciphering the saying, but nods noncommittally.
He does detect for magic or evil in the room, then says "I am not sure if we will find anything useful in here."

"Perhaps we can avoid them."
Do we need to go through this room, or can we bypass it?

OK. Nobody made the DC 33 perception check to notice them, so...
Surprise round:
A couple of grioths suddenly become visible as, from roughly 30 feet away, they both channel negative energy.

Shoot...I thought the +3 replaced the +2. In that case, I rolled a 19 total instead of 17. Not sure if that would have made a difference. Cool ability, too!

Wayreth charges the same grioth as Ethendril,.but from the other side.

Wayreth finishes off the first grioth.
Well, at the end of the day, this is the part that matters. =)
It's a little tricky working out tactical movement without a map, which makes it difficult for me since I get about 50% more damage when I am flanking. Are we eschewing maps for the rest of the game? If we are, could you let me know about flanking options when describing what's going on?

Did we take that much damage, Harlis? Aside from that, I have loads of low-level channels I can use. Why don't I use two of them to top everyone off and you keep your wand charges?

Still recovering from PAX, and I have another PFS event to run tonight. In the meantime, here's a preview map of the Dragon's Lair. Merry Christmas, Wayreth! :-)
GM Engleaktig

The tunnel widens. You have a couple of choices. North or East.
North: More tunnel.
East: The ceiling of this enormous cavern looms 50 feet overhead, pierced at many points by large openings to the surface (the outlines of these openings are represented by white lines on the map). Layers of earth cover the ground here, and grass, moss, and fungus grow on the floor in a thick, verdant layer.
Where to?
Ethendril h'Caramore
|
Ethendril looks with doubt into the massive cavern.
"I do not desire to fight this beast where it can take to the air. Further, we may be able to take it by surprise if we go through these tunnels," the paladin suggests.
"Let's continue this way," he says with a finger pointed into the tunnels.

"Do we have a method for doing some quick recon before entering the room? Should some of us scout ahead?"
Harlis Underbough
|
"If we are sure we approach the lair itself maybe we should not seperate too much? Do not tales extoll the keenness of dragon senses?". Harlis asks while breaking out his wand of resist energy and buffing the party against the four elemental attacks for the next half hour. Thinking for a moment he also gives both himself and Ethendril Touch of glory to aid their cause if needed.
Everyone has resist 10 fire, cold, acid and electricity for 30 minutes. Harlis and Ethendril have +6 to their next Cha check inside the next hour.

*Shrug* They know you're coming (because you dispelled the window). You know they're there (because you saw their tracks). You cannot find them (because they're invisible and get a +40 bonus on stealth checks).
No surprise round. This is round 1.
There's a sound of wings flapping. Something small- or medium-sized is flying away. As it flies away, the party is hit by negative energy, again.

Harlis ponders the injuries suffered for a moment but decides that revealing the foe will aid them more, he reaches into his belt for a useful scroll he acquired earlier.
Casting Invisibility Purge from a scroll.
Ethendril h'Caramore

With no way to see the enemy, Ethendril opens a divine conduit to heal some of their wounds. Though not as powerful as the wave that struck them, it seems to be effective.
"Form up!" the paladin commands.

Only the one enemy. He was reaveled (see map) when he channeled because that's an attack. If you wish, you can save the scroll.
The other can fly faster than the range of invisibility purge. (Though you may reach the other before purge's duration is over.) You'd know this since you've faced grioths before.
Up to you.
