Aaaaand that makes 6 =^^=

Awesome. I'm going to be doing something really boring that I have obligations to sit through very soon, so I'll have the time and inclination for the first post. :)

Did we ever decide if this was at a prep school or an estate, or if Wonderland and Looking Glass had been written already in this reality?

Guess I forgot to ask... what do you guys think on both?

Id say school and no. Not written yet

I lean towards school, and let's say they haven't been written.

LG Paladin 1; hp 16/16; Fort +4, Ref +0, Will +3; AC16 Map!

Yeah I'm a school girl and never heard of wonderland:)

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

I vote for it already being written but am ok with being outvoted

There are still two more to vote on that one, so it might be fifty fifty, in which case I'll make a selection. :)

Werehare Inquisitive 3/ Seeker 3/ Bard 3

I read the first, but not the second. So I'll abstain on that.

I can work estate, but the leaning tends to be towards school.

I'm mooostly indifferent to where we knew each other but I'd prefer the estate one
Maybe us knowing each other from school, and then be invited to one of our houses over summer hols

My character lives on one. That way he is kinda linked to everyone if its an annual thing that they go there?

Boy Human Child Swashbuckler 1

Sooooo

Oxford the University is actually a collection of colleges. So in the surrounding Countryside it would be not so difficult to estimate that there would be a prep/boarding school.

Carroll Wikipedia

Lewis Carroll was a pen name. His real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. The first school he went to was Westminster School which was a prep school though it is in Westminster. As we spoke of earlier the setting of the books was the Oxfordshire countryside. Also Westminster is a famous college so we might be a bit young. Carroll was born in the city of Daresbury in Cheshire. The Cheshire Cat shows up in the books so it might be interesting to name the school either:

Daresbury School (short for the Daresbury Preparatory Academy)

Or

Dodgson Academy

Or Both. Prep schools of the time would not likely be co-ed. So the schools might share some grounds and stables but the boys would go to one school and the girls would be at "finishing" school.

Of course other names or ideas for schools can be entertained.

I was doing some more research. Just a heads up Magic there is a 3pp book made for Savage Worlds that is a Wonderland Campaign resource.

I found a couple of cool maps.

The Monarchy of Hearts

and

Through the Looking Glass Lands

Also I found on my hard drive in my old DND downloads (yes it has moved over like 4 or 5 computers over the years) a copy of the early DND modules that Gygax did based on Wonderland. Never ran the game and I am not reading now. I wanted to be surprised if that was your thinking.

Boy Human Child Swashbuckler 1

Assuming Magic does not have us fighting a horde of Bandersnatch. This would make a great mount if your game @Luthian. Its kinda like a wolf;)

Bandersnatch Concept Art

Bandersnatch Concept Art 2

Alice Riding the Bandersnatch

A little more cutsey

I was bored if you had not figured. I thought I would share what I was finding with my goodle fu.

It would sure be nice to get a dot in the gameplay thread. I'm clicking through the check this discussion threat manually less and less frequently:(

But yes. A dot in the gameplay would make things simpler

Sorry I'm taking so long on this. I'm not having near as much free time as I thought I would.

I'm going to start the opening post now.

Books haven't been written, but the events in them did occur.

You're in a school and fall break has just started. Some of you are there because your parents paid for it. Others because the church have sponsored you for your betterment and maybe some because your parents are staffed there and your education is part of their employment.

Thank you Magic!

LG Paladin 1; hp 16/16; Fort +4, Ref +0, Will +3; AC16 Map!

*fist pump* first post up. Always a fun thing!

Boy Human Child Swashbuckler 1

I was able to make a close approximation of Union Jack's wonderland appearance.

Tristan Baddock AKA Union Jack

I was tying to combine this:

Union Jack circa WW1

With my avatar.

LG Paladin 1; hp 16/16; Fort +4, Ref +0, Will +3; AC16 Map!

You did that yourself?

Boy Human Child Swashbuckler 1

LOL

Yes but not by hand.

Heromachine Character Portrait Goldmine

I just used this site then "printed" it to One Note. The uploaded it to Imgur so I could link it.

When our table top group did Curse of the Crimson throne "my character" made clothing for the whole team in homage to the Korvosan hero Blackjack (Batman/Zorro vigilante of Korvosa).

Thanks for linking the source material. I was planning on (and probably still will be) pulling most of this out of my a-... magic... top hat. Ya. That...

But it's good to have if I get stuck. :)

Cool picture. Wish that stuff worked on my phone.

Semi important notes on my mental source material!

I've read both books, seen the Disney, live action, and Tim Burton movies, and I just bought the first two books of a series called Splintered by A.G. Howard, a young adult series with a descendant of Alice's goes back into Wonderland to try to fix her 'mistakes.'
I've also seen Once Upon a time In Wonderland as well.

I have never played or watched any of the American McGee games, nor do I plan to. That's another thing that's not my jam. All references to that will go straight over my head.

Boy Human Child Swashbuckler 1

I Dungeonland and Through the Magic Mirror they are 1st edition and written by Gygax if that gives you a sense for them. I could email them to you. I never DMed them but they are considered classics.

I won't ask you to do that quite yet. If I get stuck for an encounter, I'll drop you a message. :)

-------

I finished Splintered tonight, Unhinged starts in my free time tomorrow, if the game thread doesn't neccesitate doing otherwise with it. ^_^

-------

Giving Luthian time to return from Larp. Did it for one night, and I know it's exhausting, let alone longer than that, so I totally understand the delay.

--------
Out of curiosity, where is everybody tuning in from? I'm in Tennessee USA, on the EST. About 1:15 AM when I post this. As I'm mostly trying to nail down time zones, I'd appreciate a time stamp and perhaps in what direction and how far off of EST you are, but just the name will do. :)

You're not in any way required to respond to that. I don't want to make people uncomfortable, and I know some people don't like giving any personal info on line. I like being friendly with my fellow players. If we can make this feel like we're sitting around a dining room table with paper and dice, I'd be quite happy. ^_^

Shadow Lodge

Same time zone, but night shift

I'm in Boston, so I'm also on EST.

LG Paladin 1; hp 16/16; Fort +4, Ref +0, Will +3; AC16 Map!

Pacific. So that's, EST -4 I think.

South africa. GMT+2

Its exhausting. Monday morning you get up and ask yourself why you keep doing this to yourself... by Tuesday you're planning what to do at the next event :P =^^=

Gwen, you don't have any powers yet.

LG Paladin 1; hp 16/16; Fort +4, Ref +0, Will +3; AC16 Map!

Oh, sorry:(

I'm really sorry I haven't been as active as I would like.

I started college on Monday, and it's taken a pretty big hit to my energy.

I'm settling in, and I hope to be more active going forward.

If no one has anything else to do before the key is turned, I'll post some time tomorrow. You have until then to make final posts before it happens.

Pro tip: you're not going to be back for a while. ;)

Once everyone is in or not, I promise a really really good post for entering wonderland. I should've posted Friday, like I said but I got sick and slept for pretty much Friday to Sunday. -_-

Everyone still with us?

Boy Human Child Swashbuckler 1

Yes!!!

LG Paladin 1; hp 16/16; Fort +4, Ref +0, Will +3; AC16 Map!

still falling.

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

Yup

K. Doing homework and then I have to eat so I don't die, but I should have a post after that.

Sorry if that's a lot to take in all at once. I did promise a good post. ; )

Werehare Inquisitive 3/ Seeker 3/ Bard 3

It's a good post. I'll look into sorting out my equipment beyond a sap, a spare deck of cards, perhaps a cane. If one is acting the part of a charming rogue, the overt threat of weapons would mar the appearance.

Indeed.
