Its round 8 right? All but Cуровую has gone.
She will study the area for the most opportune place to cast (although she already made a Perception) and ready an action, if the group downstairs prepares to leave she will cast Fireball otherwise she will wait for the next round, round 9 to hurl the alchemist fire, then Cуровую will cast Pyrotechnics round 10 and Dren will have a readied Fireball to go off as well, that brings us to round 10 when Morsum appears.
Do I have that right?
Cast Fireball first. As soon as you use Pyrotechnics or anything else similar, it is likely that the guards and the commander will disperse. Then you will probably get 1 or 2 of them in a bunch with the fireball. This is the second time that DMDM has put a whole group of targets together. There are only 100 or so guards. Taking out 10% of them with a single fireball is what is needed. It will demoralize the rest of the guards and make them realize that sitting out in the open with a bow waiting to snipe is is extremely dangerous.
Bref
as to the map, DMDM does not really like using them. Now at any point if he decides he wants to I can set up one that we can move tokens around on.
Jax Naismith
If Jax dies, any chance next character can use Dreamscarred Press's tome of battle pathfinder stuff? :D
There's not a lot of options for interesting melee in PF outside of magus. (Smack them, smack them harder or make a semi caster and smack them hard while buffed and using spells to have interesting decisions). I like the ability to do more than: Hit them or :try one of these combat maneuvers that only work against humanoid enemies and require feat investment to even have a slight chance of working.
MiniGM
Got ya, DMDM click on the link that says rune lords right above my name here when you have a second. take a look and you can play around, you see that you can move the characters around on the map etc.
All I would need is for you to email me a jpg of the map you want ( I do it with a screen shot) and I could take it from there. You would just have to put the link to it in the campaign info so it is always at the top and then we would be good to go, just up date that map all the time.
but not rush at all.
Cуровую зиму
I was not thinking of the fancy map at all, just like a bingo grid with numbers on one side and letters on another side and we say things like, 'I'm on B1, waiting to flank with person to enter N1' and such.
'Bingo! I crit!'
Bref
well, that fancy map actually turns out to be just as difficult as the bingo map, since you have to upload it either way.
Judge Tohram Quasangi
I have always preferred using maps with coordinates on them. Then telling the DM exactly where I move, and how if it is necessary to avoid AoO. If the players are able to move their avatars, then it is hard to figure where they moved from and how far they moved.
Bref
in the particular version that I use, you can actually draw lines if you want to show how you get there.
Dren of the Dark Tapestry
The problem with Balentyne tower, I actually tried to pull it into maptools for Doug but it went so hazy when it was blown up that you couldn't see any details on it...must be a fairly small map with low res. to begin with.
Bref
well in any event, I'm happy to do it if he we want it. It will take me about 5 minutes to do
Bref
great, I mean I performed, but I would say 95% of the audience liked it and 90% really liked it.
Dren of the Dark Tapestry
1 person marked this as a favorite.
But was it a Bref performance? :]
You need a creepy character to slowly drain the light out of your favorite character????
I can't sing, dance or act...and I don't look good on camera/stage. I figure I would be perfect for some part...
But seriously, glad it went well!
Xenfal
yup, Xen closed the door, and nicked the sgt, it took an AC of 29 to avoid getting my head chopped off!
Judge Tohram Quasangi
Well, we should have him pretty well surrounded and whacked at this point. I will continue to unload breakfast and lunch onto the top of the tower until such time as DMDM says that 10 rounds have elapsed.
Cуровую зиму
When does Morsum appear?
Assuming Barhold took 16 points of damage from the Fireball because he saved, he has taken 70 points of damage from the group, the guy must look a little bit pique?
Cуровую зиму
Well, he does have the Toughness feat.
If he was Smiting or healing himself I would say DM turned the tables on us and this is actually the commander with a Disguise and he is cutting through us right now.
Barhold has taken 80 to 95 points of damage, hopefully Grumblejack can finish him off.

Guys I have posted and explained several times, the Pyrotechnics was not just to get a reduced save for the soldiers but rather to blind them while we Fly off and screen our escape and so that those that could heal the soldiers would have difficulty in doing so and lastly so they would not even be aware what hit them. This was to be used in conjunction with Darkness, so they don't know where are headed and commit more men in storming the tower (us up here).
Dren of the Dark Tapestry
We can't go anywhere until we have spent a few rounds healing. Several people are hurt badly enough that a lucky crossbow shot would drop them.
The darkness and obscuring mist if warranted will need to do. Maybe the pyro can work just before we leave.
Judge Tohram Quasangi
And as I think I have mentioned, Pyrotechnics lasts 1d4+1 rounds. It is possible that it will only last 2 rounds. Thus, by the time you cast fireball, the pyrotechnics may be done. If you want to blind them, then cast Obscuring Mist AFTER the fireball, it lasts 1 min/level, but is burned off by a foreball. If you really want to use pyrotechnics, which you have reiterated multiple times that you do, then a torch + pyrotechnics should be cast immediately before we all take off, not before a fireball several rounds before I have even cast Evolution Surge or Enlarge Person on Morsum.
I do not know whether we have ever gotten an answer from DMDM, but if it is a cloudy or mostly cloudy night, then a darkness spell on a flying creature (Morsum) will effectively blind everyone. The only person who will be able to see us will be the monk and any other Aasimar/darkvision NPC. And even that might not work if she is inside or the distance is greater than 60'. Against anyone else, we should have total concealment (50% miss chance) even if they do figure out that there is a large glob of darkness moving across the sky. Remember, it should only take 2-3 rounds for everyone to fly over to the gatehouse roof.
As I said in an earlier post, a much more useful place for the pyrotechnics will be getting into the gatehouse. Drop a torch through the trapdoor from the roof and then have Morsum follow it down to get any blinded enemies and avoid readied/surprise attacks. The gatehouse is sealed at the bottom, so we need to get from the roof to the level with the narrow catwalk. Once we have taken the entry from the catwalk, then we should be able to hold the gatehouse, attack/snipe any guards watching us, and make sure that the portcullis is destroyed/raised for the bugbears.
Dren of the Dark Tapestry
When we get to the gatehouse if we have trouble getting in we disguise ourselves as the commander and order them to open it. Or I can create an illusion of something in hopes we can get them to open it...I think the first plan is the stronger one though...hopefully there is some other way in.
Cуровую зиму
This current round Cуровую will use the wand, the next she will cast Fireball again after Cуровую makes a Perception check, looking for two things
First where is the Princess Monk?
Second, where is the biggest grouping of men she can do damage to, and if there are equal numbers spread out she will hit acolytes, the commander and soldiers in the top of the list, in that order with another Fireball then move to where Morsum and the Judge are.
Is the slab in position? Can those who can please make their own Perception checks too?
Xenfal
the slab is in place, a while ago. Xen cannot make perception checks because he is busy healing jax and picking up the sword. after morsum is enlarged and has wings Xen has a free action to look around
Bref
i am on another cross world flight in about 8 hours so i will be mia for a bit
Bref
no there has been no detect magic because that tens 3 rds to do. Xen just grabbed the sword, DM said it will takes rds to get the BP, and no one has looted the cleric as the rds have not worked out, because Xen has been healing
Cуровую зиму
Ragnar can bite the Cleric/Monk to make sure he is off to play with Bref, Edmin and Grumblejack can get items that we direct them to pick up from the bodies or keep on piling debris from the trebuchette on the trap door.
The whole group makes sure they watch the walls and the door for possible return of the Princess Monk and others.
Douglas Muir 406
I was going to say that Grumblejack is like a Steve Buscemi ogre. But actually Steve Buscemi is a normal sized dude. They use camera work to make him seem shorter (just as they use camera work to make Tom Cruise seem like he's 6" instead of 5'6") because he's always playing characters who are slimy and weaselly, and Hollywood convention requires those characters to be short.
Cуровую зиму
I was going to say that Grumblejack is like a Steve Buscemi ogre.
Wow that is one clear visual.
Side note, 'Broadwalk Empire' started getting good this season.

on a layover, briefly in london.
How is this for an xmas miracle
My flight from Kuwait to London was scheduled to give me 45 minutes to make my connection to Miami, we were delayed leaving Kuwait by 30 minutes and the next flight Miami wasn't till tomorrow.
Not only did we land only 2 gates away, but there was a delay of an hour AND since I am business class I got 15 pounds worth of free starbucks.
I am lurking and if something relevant comes up I can post for about 15 minutes
Bref
yea i try not to get used to it. Only when I take MOST of these cross world business trips that i get to travel in style like that.
so dmdm do we get xmas presents? maybe +2 on all our stats…
:)

I used to have an airline credit card. Back when I was using it, it was like 25000 miles/credits for a US ticket and between 45000 and 75000 to upgrade an international ticket. The difference was that the US ticket would only cost $150-$300 usually, whereas the international ticket cost like $1200, but a business class ticket was about $5000-$7000. I figured that the business class upgrade was a much better use of my airline miles versus getting a cheap ticket for free.
