Two misses!
Albus's magic flashes as the jackals he attacks explode in a shower of rotting meat and bone. V14 and V15 no longer live, so only the jackals surrounding Azubah are still up.
The remaining undead ignore the flash and thunder and attack Azubah en masse.

DMummy |
No worries! I've been pretty busy over the weekend so I haven't been as attentive as I should have been to the PbP, my apologies to all.
Albus, Azubah and Dwalindor's strikes crush the last three jackals and the entrance to the temple is quiet.
You can search around the entrance with Survival or Perception, or proceed to the next room. You can head north, east or west.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor will search around the entrance.

Heading north.
Space and elevation lend a sense of past grandeur and majesty to this large space. A large, star-shaped fountain with a circular pool in the center sits in the middle of the chamber. The bottom of the pool is decorated with a great mosaic eye made from tiny colored tiles, and hieroglyphs are carved into the paving stones ringing the fountain. Two rows of columns support the ceiling overhead, which continues to rise to a domed ceiling in the northern portion of the chamber. At the far end of the hall, a massive statue with arms raised overlooks the entire length of the temple from atop a raised dais. East and west of the fountain, two sets of stone double doors exit the chamber.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor takes a good look at the statue, both to try an recognize it, and also to ensure it was not moving.
"I ain't sure which is worse, the enemy you can't see or the one that ain't there but you think is!"
Rameth the Delver |
Assuming dwalindors doesn't stop me by spotting something, Rameth moves forward and checks the pool
DMummy |
Rameth, your examination does not reaveal any further information about the room.
The pool is truly a marvel in the necropolis.
Made of white marble, the water is clear, cool and appears to be potable.
The mosaic on the bottom of the pool appears intact and there are Ancient Osiriani heiroglyphs surrounding the pool itself. Linguistics DC 13

Albus, as you approach the back of the room you see the ceiling rising into a high dome 40 feet above the main floor. Three flights of stairs climb up to a large platform elevated 5 feet above the floor and at the rear of the platform a 15 foot tall statue of a man, half white marble and half polished obsidian, stands atop a raised octagonal dais.
The top of the main platform is tiled in black marble while the octagonal dais is striking white while the ring that separates them is tiled in red.
Please let me know where each of you in the room is. For the moment Sumak is hanging out trying to remember bible verses.
Sir Howard |
My how impressive. I'd heard of the cathedral here, I mean who hasn't, but you'd have thought that the temple wouldn't be quite this well kept.
Azubah sees Howard's ghostly form floats along trying to read heiroglyphs on the walls.
Although you know the carving's a bit bland, isn't it? "Praise be to Nethys the Wise, the giver of power and wonder." Why don't temples ever say anything interesting about their gods? I've often wondered whether they rate particular items highly, but you never see "Hail Nethys, creator of bubble baths and hater of broccoli!" on a temple do you? Down boy!
At this last exclamation you see the ghost of a long-haired hyena similar to the ones you killed in the antechamber scratching at Howard's leg, obviously trying to get his attention.
Rameth the Delver |
1d20 + 8 - 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 8 - 1 + (1) = 15 linguistics.
Rameth quickly reads the text out loud for all to hear.
DMummy |
The heiroglyphics read thus:
This Pool of Protection is dedicated to the glory of Nethys by Pharoah Amunhabep II as a gift to the wonder-workers of Wati. May all those who drink of the waters receive the blessings of the god for the benefit of the most blessed Kingdom of Osirion, fairest of nations.
Rameth the Delver |
Well lets find out! Rameth bends down and drinks
DMummy |
Rameth, although the water is cool and refreshing, and you feel a strange influence pulling your thoughts towards a defensive posture, looking to protect yourself from threats; you don't notice any immediate physical effects on yourself.
Albus, the pool radiates an aura of abjuration and transmutation.
Rameth OOC:
You may cast one spell of the abjuration school at +1 caster level and with a +1 bonus to the saving throw DC. The effect lasts for 24 hours or until used.
Please let me know locations as you search.
Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Dwalindor looks at Rameth like he expected him to turn into a mummy or something.
"sometimes it is best not to tempt fate. The old ones can be strange in their motives."
Rameth the Delver |
I dunno. It tasted fine, I feel like I can stop any attack against me. Anyhow, lets move on!

"By Aroden" is all that Azubah can spit out at the sight of the creature. Then he extends his arm and mutters a curse at the thing while advancing toward it. Move to K14
Delayed action until the thing attacks. If it succeeds then Azubah will use his misfortune ability.
Misfortune (Ex): At 1st level, as an immediate action, you can force a creature within 30 feet to re-roll any one d20 roll that it has just made before the results of the roll are revealed. The creature must take the result of the re-roll, even if it is worse than the original roll. Once a creature has suffered from your misfortune, it cannot be the target of this revelation again for 1 day.
DMummy |
Dwalindor will rage and move forward 30' (charge if possible) and smash the private eye.
Great, now I've got that song stuck in my head. I'll get you for this Dwalindor!
Also, since you're attacking with a reach weapon through a statue that blocks line of sight, technically the creature has both cover and concealment and you can't charge (which I discovered through research!) so if you attack again in place (you're at F16) please roll 1d100 to determine miss - miss range is from 40 to 60. I'll roll for you this time.
Miss Chance (Dwalindor): 1d100 ⇒ 18 Hit!
Rameth Knowledge (Planes) is the knowledge for this creature, sorry I keep forgetting to note that.
Rameth recognizes the monster as an aghash div, another of the abominations created by Ahriman in his war against existence. Worse, you remember distant lessons that they can summon other div to fight you, namely the ones like the damnable teleporting invisible head you fought in the House of Pantheru.
Dwalindor's hammer somehow bypasses the statue in front of him and smashes into the monster. The cold iron head sizzles as it strikes flesh and a horrible wail echoes from the monster at the power of the blow.
Cursed Pahmet! You and yours may think you rule the deserts but Ahriman's fury is not to be denied!
The creature raises its hands and you feel a tingle throughout the room as sand comes swirling through the doorways and cracks in the stone floor to whirl madly throughout the whole room.
I'm watching you! I see your every move, but you'll never see me!
A blistering sandstorm erupts and you feel the sand begin to blast its way into your clothes and armor.
Sandstorm Visibility: 1d10 ⇒ 1
Sandstorm Damage (Nonlethal): 1d3 ⇒ 1 This damage is done to everyone in the room.
Sandstorm! Visibility has been reduced to 5 feet (best 1 I ever rolled); Rameth you have a chance to attack the monster (AOO) as it escapes into the swirling sands. Perception rolls take a -4 while the storm rages and the entire room you're in now is filled with the storm (100 foot radius from D15).
Even over the sands you hear Sumak's voice try to sing, attempting to carry encouraging tunes to you for the fight. (Inspire Courage +1/+1 active.)

Dwalindor the Pahmet |
Years of living in the harsh sandstorms, Dwalindor's tough skin repels the effects of the sand (DR2/lethal).
"Where did it go Rameth?!?!?"
Dwalindor continues to rage and tries to look for or find the creature by scent.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 plus scent

"Angel Eyes" Albus |
Cold Iron! I definitely need to do some shopping. Albus thinks after witnessing Dwalindor's mighty blow.
How can someone with a giant eyeball for a face be comfortable in a sandstorm?!
Hey ugly, show yourself!
The magus walks blindly searching for his target and trying to cut off his escape.
Moves to F18 and attacks it if he sees the thing.
Rameth the Delver |
I have a feeling it is gone.
I think I need to abandon the sword cane, my initial idea was to use the sword cane, but now that I am going more STR and no finesse really, can I swap my MW Sword cane for an MW club?
