Once Tove and Terri get their quiet moment:
"Forgive me if I'm a little uncomfortable placing my trust in outsiders. Particularly those who happen to show up out of the blue wielding giant glowing swords and conveniently offering to fill any recently vacated positions in our party."
Garethane Seregon |
Garathane will check in with Duncan and see what is available for purchase. He would be interested in purchasing a map maker's kit, or at least extra paper, ink, quills and the like and a waterproof case or two.
After laying in supplies for further exploring, he spends the evening enjoying the fine cooking, music, and after perhaps imbibing more than he should in toasts to Raz, shows Terri what proper Elvish dancing is *supposed* to look like. In theory.
Terri Riverrun |
"It's just a coincidence," Terri says calmly, "and if he is dangerous, all the more reason to keep an eye on him. Besides. you didn't seem to have any issues trusting me when I showed up with a small glowing sword conveniently offering to help out." An impish smile crosses her face as she leans in close, "Tell me, is it the size of it that intimidates you? Or are you afraid that Bassius might feel inadequate when compared to Kalaman?"
She pauses for a moment to let Tove think about what she is saying, and the innuendo behind it before sobering and giving the priestess an earnest look.
"I understand your concerns, but I feel they are unwarranted. Shouldn't he at least have a chance to prove that he is trustworthy before we turn him away. Besides, I do not think any bandit would welcome him in their ranks just based on his looks. If he is untrustworthy, how better to discover that than to have him with us."

Tove struggled as Terri catches her up in her logic, although the innuendo soared right over the cleric's head... Kalaman looked shorter than Bass, if anything.
She thought back to meeting Terri nearly a week ago. Had she really been more willing to let the girl join them? She was undeniably more easy on the eyes than the tiefling. And Tove hadn't known Terri's secret at the time.
'Yes, but you look human,' didn't really seem like the right thing to say though.
Admittedly Terri's age had been a big hang up for Tove, but she had proven herself to be a capable young woman, despite appearances.
Perhaps Tove's fears about Kalaman were similarly misplaced.
Then again, he was fiend-blooded, he could be half-fiend for all she knew. She made a mental note to prepare Sense Alignment tomorrow morning.
"I'll be watching him," she tells the bard.
Terri Riverrun |
Heart to Heart with Tove
Terri sighs and shrugs, not sure if she could have asked for more than that.
"We both will be," she assures the priestess, "now come on and have some fun. I don't think Raz would want us to mope!"
Dancing with Garethane
Perform(Dance) (Trying to follow Garethane's instruction): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 Thank goodness for high modifiers. :)
By the time Garethane starts to teach her some dance moves, Terri is more than a little tipsy herself. She muddles through it just fine, though, her natural grace and charm making up for any drunken sloppiness and misinterpreting of the elf's instructions.
"Okay, now now it's only fair that you have to *hic!* learn a dance from me," she giggles after they finish. She shifts the scarves she wears down to ride low on her hips before she hops up on a table and begins to teach a very seductive dance a Keleshite had described to her once.
Perform(Dance): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19 Well, she is a bit drunk, and a tease.
Tove Hellstrom |
Tove grabs a drink and joins the festivities warily, leaning up against the wall furthest from the newcomer and watching Garethane and Terri dance their respective dances.
Terri is definitely more easy on the eyes than Kalaman, Tove can’t help but think to herself as the bard jumps up on the table and begins her routine.
Tove’s eyes flick between the various men in the room as the girl sways seductively above them.

Please feel free to continue RPing as much as you'd like. Old Duncan leaves in the morning and will be back in 4 days. Just about anything you'd want (that you can afford) is available in Restov. Give me a list of what you intend to purchase and you'll have it 4 days from now. Also, be thinking if what you'd like to do during those 4 days.
Tove Hellstrom |
If I'm reading the map right, there's a bunch of unexplored grassland to the west of Oleg's we could probably make a dent in to keep busy while we're waiting...
Terri Riverrun |
Yup, and we could pay both Perlivash and Lanyssa a visit and introduce Terri and the others to the as well as seeing the Temple fo the Elk on the way there and back.
Terri wakes the next morning bleary-eyed and with a headache. Cayden's revenge wasn't too bad this morning, but it still made the bright light and loud noises she heard uncomfortable. She feels better after drink some water, and a wave of her hands has her feeling much cleaner than she had been as magic scoured away the sweat and odor from the previous night. She didn't feel refreshed, but she had already slept in and wasn't familiar with the lay of the land here yet. She finds the others enjoying breakfast and joins them.
"Mornin'! What are we up to today? Seeing new places? Visiting old friends?"
Ivo Crownwheel |
"Both sound good," says Ivo, seemingly appearing from nowhere. The gnome has recently trimmed his hair and cleaned all of his gear and looks rather guileless, though that appearance is an obvious ruse.
"Maybe drop in on the Fair Folk, see how they are doing? Perhaps bring them some jam or other treats?"
Terri Riverrun |
"Hey, Ivo! You look charming today. Did someone catch your eye," she teases before asking, "do they like sweets? I've heard of some things that they may not have had the chance to try."
Terri Riverrun |
"Oh, I see. Would music or stories also work," Terri asks.
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
The night's festivities begin to wind down, everyone having had a little too much of Svetlana's always delicious cooking and perhaps more than a little too much of Oleg's ale stores. A good night's sleep in a comfortable bed awaits.
Morning arrives and the trading post comes to life, perhaps a bit more slowly than usual, but to life none-the-less. So far it is a rather pleasant morning - plenty of sun and a light breeze.
Svetlana makes you a simple breakfast of biscuits, sausages, and gravy and packs each of you a small lunch of fresh bread, cheese, and a bit of spicy cured beef sausage.
As you gather your belongings and prepare to go out on what you plan to be a short bit of exploration, Oleg, Svetlana, and the others that dwell within the trading post's walls wish you good luck, safe travels and a speedy return.
With the left-most hex being "1", I assume you are off to hex A4? Assuming no complications, you should be able to explore and map 3 plains hexes and return by early evening of the 4th day, when Old Duncan should be returning with your cash for whatever you'd like him to sell in Restov, any items you wish for him to pick up for you, and further communication from the Swordlords.
Ivo Crownwheel |
"Thank you, Svetlana," says Ivo sincerely as he takes his packed lunch. "You have, by far, treated us as simply the best hostess."
Putting away his meals for later, the gnome hefts his traveling pack and rejoins the team. "All right, so we're checking in on the Fair Folk, then off to explore some more, yes? Forest or plains?"
Tove Hellstrom |
Tove's plan was to map A3,A4 and perhaps B2 on the way to meet the fairies, but we could just as easily head to the fairies first if Ivo and Terri are so eager to get there. We could then pass up through Lanyssa's home and back through those three hexes on the way to Oleg's.
Terri Riverrun |
i'm good with either way. I think visiting then exploring would probably work better, but it's probably 6 of one, half-dozen of the other.
Bassius "Bass" Vibulus |
"Forest might be best for hunting down another bandit" Bassius says in reply to Ivo's question. "There's a bounty here for a former mercenary, and I don't think we saw him at the Stag Lord's hold."
That's specifically the bounty for Falgrim Sneeg. Also, I see that Tuskgutter's bounty is still up, and that was my first encounter. I think we just forgot to report it.
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
In the case of Tuskgutter, given how spotty posting was around that time period, I will assume you collected the bounty for that one. Please add the masterwork longbow and the six +1 animal bane arrows to you loot list.
Bokken's quest was done a long time ago and simply failed to mark it off.
In the case of Falgrim Sneeg, you guys offed him at the Stag Fort. The plan you had and the resultant fight really didn't leave much for you to do in terms of capturing bandits. Add two masterwork weapons of your choice to the loot list.
The only open bounty on the board now should be the tatzlwyrm. The book two board notices are more around your eventual settlement, so I'll post those once you have established your settlement.
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
am I in the party yet or am I still hanging out at olegs?
I believe they've offered for you to come along, but you have not responded. I assume you intend to accept the offer...
Bassius "Bass" Vibulus |
In the case of Falgrim Sneeg, you guys offed him at the Stag Fort. The plan you had and the resultant fight really didn't leave much for you to do in terms of capturing bandits. Add two masterwork weapons of your choice to the loot list.
In light of that update, GM, I'll retcon my comment to something along the lines of "The forest could have other generic random bandits!"
Assuming that we head out soon in game time:
Bass takes Tove aside as the party heads out to explore the Greenbelt once more, unburdened finally from the weight of the Stag Lord's shadow. "I've seen the way you look at the tiefling. Honestly, I don't care to find it in me to chide you for that. I fully intend to watch him carefully myself, as fiends leave marks in more ways than one. However, I would ask that you keep an open mind, and let him rise or fall on his own merits, not those of his heritage. If he betrays us, I won't hesitate to stand with you in bringing him to justice."
Tove Hellstrom |
Tove wakes early and visits Ros in the stables before her morning prayers. After confiding in her faithful companion and preparing herself for the day ahead, she finally joins the others for breakfast.
As the group heads out she finds herself beside the paladin of Abadar.
"Refreshing to hear that not all of us have been so quickly won over by this stranger. I'll be glad to have you standing beside me when his fiendish nature reveals itself," Tove catches herself. "If it reveals itself. I apologize, I do not wish to invite trouble where there is none. I will bite my tongue and keep my distance, for now."
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
The party leaves the gates of the trading post, along with the party's newest member Kalaman. For the morning's ride toward the faerie nest, Tove and Kalaman seem to keep as far apart from each other as reason would allow for a group supposedly traveling together.
A light mid-morning shower breaks out as you reach the treeline of the forest. Pushing on a bit beyond when you would normally stop for a bit of lunch you find yourselves in roughly the location the veterans of the party seem to remember the two mischievous faeries make their home.
1d6 ⇒ 1
Your recollection would seem to be correct as the rest of the party notices that Bassius's normally sandy brown hair is now a rather bright shade of pink.
As the others take notice you hear a bit of high pitched laughter from up in the trees and one voice say, "Some familiar, some new. Where oh where did the others go of to?"
Those of you who have met them before, recognize the voice of Tyg-Titter-Tut. Surely the other laughter belonged to the faerie dragon, Perlivash.

who would have thought it, even the saviors of this land, slaves to their prejudice. Not that I expected any different. If I have any say in this fledgling kingdom, and convince these charter bearers to see the error of their ways, no one will be looked at sideways because of things they had no control over. Who here was able to choose their parents, or grandparents? Who here was able to choose their family? No one here has a relative they don't like? Even the best dynasties have rotten apples, and the worst families have progeny that redeem their name if but a little. I will teach them to judge by actions and not heritage. Kalaman speaks telepathically with his sword.
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
Just a side note, Kalaman, they haven't been granted right to rule just yet...that'll be when and if you make it back to Oleg's
Kalaman Mar |
ahh got it, then retcon "If I have any say in this fledgling kingdom, and convince these charter bearers to see the error of their ways, no one will be looked at sideways because of things they had no control over." Removed, the rest remains
Terri Riverrun |
Being a fellow outcast, Terri isn't nearly as uncomfortable as Tove or Bassius around Kalaman and spends a good portion of the morning trying to get the man to open up.
I guess we could ask each other a few questions that our characters would be curious about.
Terri tries not to laugh at Bassius' change in hair color, but she still snickers and grins, not quite able to help herself. She sobers a little at the reminder that not everyone they knew was still with them.
"Hello and well met! I am Terri Riverrun," she introduces herself as she hops off of Placid. "I must say that I like what you have done with Bassius' hair. I think it suits him."
Kalaman Mar |
On the ride to tyg-titter-tut speaking with Terri, "So. You don't seem to have the same aversion to me as at least some of your friends have. You are one of few, I must admit. What is your story, Terri Riverrun? Why don't you fear me as the others do?
Terri Riverrun |
"I have a little experience with being an outcast myself. As fearsome as you appear, you have not given us reason to fear you, and I have to admit I am curious," Terri answers. Her smile turning just a little mischievous at the end.
Kalaman Mar |
"what is you outcast experience? And curious of what?" kalaman says to the mischievous bard during the ride in,
Terri Riverrun |
""When the matron in charge of the orphanage calls you a witch for years on end, it tends to stick. As for my curiosity, I'm curious about many things, but as far as you're concerned, I wonder how many shirts you've ruined with those horns.
Kalaman Mar |
"well you're not a witch, and I'm not scourge on this plane. If we work together we can use our experiences as catalyst for change, and help make this world at least a small bit better for those who are like us, outcasts. People not of the same cloth as the rest of the community. As for shirts of my own, a few, but over the years I've learned the art of getting dressed. Shirts of other people, a fair bit more than shirts of my own." kalaman replies to the young bard.
Garethane Seregon |
Garathane bows from the saddle in the direction of the tiny voice.
"Well met, master Fey. I am Garathane, a hunter and student of the natural world. And while I don't think I've ever seen that shade of hair in nature although it suits the Paladin well. He grins at Bassius.
As to why the new faces, some of the former charter holders found the Wild Lands not to their liking. Others sacrificed all to rid the land of the bandit scourge."
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
"The Stag Lord is no more?" the small, purple-scaled, butterfly-winged dragon asks as he floats down from the canopy. "Well done."
"Well done indeed!" says Tyg, the tiny, elf-cricket hybrid with gossamer wings.
Terri Riverrun |
"My goals aren't so lofty. I want to see the world and do some good. If others do not trust me, that is on them. I think you'd find me a poor partner in changing the world," Terri says, her smile fading into a thoughtful expression. "I have to ask, though, what were you doing when you were running other people's shirts? I would have thought the opposite was true."
Terri's eyes light up in wonder as she sees the tiny dragon and elf-cricket. She always enjoyed meeting new people, but these two are fey, both strange and wondrous.
"Thank you," she says before pulling out her cittern and looks up at the fey. "May I play you a song for the entertainment and for showing yourselves to us," she asks.
Kalaman Mar |
Terri Riverrun |
"Ah, I see," Terri says. "I do not appreciate the implications about me of your rhetoric, but I that does not invalidate your argument. Nor does it change my mind. The changes you wish to make are large and sweeping, and that takes time. I prefer to live day by day. I want to enjoy the journey, not just focus on the destination. If the winds of the road and the stars of the heavens pull me in a new direction, I would like the freedom to go after it. I'm afraid that change like that trades one set of fences for another."
Kalaman Mar |
Terri Riverrun |
"You asked me if I thought I was the only outcast that wished to see the world and help people. The question was rhetorical, but it implies that I do not consider the plights of others. It's not an implication I appreciate. I can understand your desire to be free of the prejudice that others show you and wanting to change how others treat you based on your appearance, but changes like that take time, and even then some of them will always judge you or others like you for how you and they look. I do not feel I can change the world as you do, and I would not want to dictate another's thoughts to them. That does not change that I came to you because I wanted to get to know you as I would anyone else. If others wish to judge you by their own silly fears instead of your actions, then that is on them. All we can do is act in a way we see as right," Terri says. "Besides, I do not blame the others for being wary. I think they would be even if you were human or elf."
Kalaman Mar |
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
"A song? That would be lovely." Tyg responds. Perlivash adds, "And perhaps something yummy and sweet to snack on while we listen?"
Terri Riverrun |
"I didn't think you did so out of spite. Condescension, however, I'm afraid that came across all too clearly." She grins at Kalaman to let him know that there were no hard feelings. "As for joining, I showed up, much the same as you," Terri says, "but I think the big difference was that you came in right after we had lost someone dear to at least two of our number to a bandit lord, and we don't know how many of his lackeys are still around. For all we know, you could have been a bandit just biding your time until you saw a chance to take us out in our sleep."
She rides a long for a moment before turning back to the tiefling and raising an eyebrow.
"How old did you say you were?"
Perform(String): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Perform(Sing): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
After a moment to turn the strings, Terri begins to sing a whimsical ballad about a moth and a fairy playing with the moon. She'd leave the snacks to the others.
Kalaman Mar |
oops forgot to update my age on my profile,
