Absinthe Mooneyes |

Absinthe's eyebrows rise nearly to her hairline at some of the things written down in the letter.
"One rather wonders how the King of Spiders got his hands on this," she says. "Perhaps ambassador Amprei should have paid his cleaning staff to be more attentive to the presence of cobwebs in his bedroom...?"
Mine was so-so. I'm facing some trouble at work; the reorganisations going on may cost me my job unless my employer is willing to be as flexible as they want me to be...

Absinthe Mooneyes |

"One has heard of it. But it usually requires liberal applications of cream cheese afterward. Some of this letter may just be wishful thinking."

Segang |

Wait, what? Segang looks at the letter trying hard to decipher the code within the symbols. Not sure that segang would have ever learned to read.

Melianthe Ssulissien |

"We had eyes on us. Best to leave Eel's End as quickly and quietly as possible."
Melianthe looks around for Seren, then back to Absinthe. "Are either of you good at secreting something on your person? That means hiding, Segang, not oozing."

Absinthe Mooneyes |

"Ah. One's expertise was in other areas, but one will attempts it, should you wish," Absinthe says.
Sleight of hand: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16.
"Will that suffice?"

"Hiding things from people is part of maintaining a good disguise."
Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
"...but just this once, perhaps we'll let Absinthe give it a go,"Seren shrugs sheepishly.

Segang |

We go turn in our evidence - mission complete I hope. Then Segang tries to convince the group to go back in the early morning, break, in, free the dragon, and get back out. :)

Let's go call this one done.

Cressida Kroft *DM* |

Back at Citadel Volshyenek, you catch Field Marshal Croft just as she is retiring for the night. "That was quickly done. Nice job!" By candlelight, she peruses the contents of the letters, blushing despite herself. She wraps them up and nods, a rare smile on her lips. "This will work perfectly as leverage against the Ambassador. I'll see that Vencarlo's contacts in the diplomatic arena get this tool in their hands."
Cressida steps away for a minute, talking to a clerk and retrieving a small coffer. "On behalf of the city guard, I'm adding this small bonus to whatever coin you have remaining." She hands the coffer over, then thinks for a moment before concluding. "I have no more work for you at this time, but with unrest still thick in the air, there's bound to be something new soon. I'll be in contact."
The coffer holds 500 gold sails.

Absinthe Mooneyes |

I vote for purchasing some disguises, first of all, and some weaponry the people at Barvasi's haven't seen yet.

Segang |

Sensible. This is a sneak in mission so I vote that Absinthe Seren are in charge. Heck it might be best to leave Segang on the dock ready to assist if things go wrong.

As long as Segang knows that we choose when things have gone wrong, not its been 1 minute and I'm ancy :)
Shall we do a disguise mission or a late night infiltration? Does this place ever shut down? They gotta sleep some time, right?
How about a boat approach?

Yes, tremendous. :)

It runs throughout the day and night, though there are certainly less busy times in the early morning and mid-day. They have a few rotations of guards and servers.
A water approach is possible. Did I send out the big outdoor map for Eel's End a while back?

Melianthe Ssulissien |

I picked the wrong level not to take Stealth (and stop sniffing glue). Yes, we have a big map.
"So, we return tomorrow night..." Melianthe is especially hopeful at the word 'night' "...by boat, disguised, weapons concealed, and ready for infiltration. I can prepare an unseen servant and a spell to throw my voice in order to distract the guards, if need be. Seren, Absinthe, you'll set us up with disguises?"
"I do hope there will be no rope crossings over shark infested waters this time," she concludes.

Seren will memorize Message, Mage Hand, Open/Close, Vanish, Forced Quiet x2, Disguise Self, Silent Image. Will use message to communicate with the other group and secret signs to communicate with those closest.
He has 7 uses of his disguise kit for any that are going disguised, feel free to use one. He will aid other on any disguises (just the three of us disguising or all 5?)
Seren disguise: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 39
Seren aid Absinthe: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Seren aid Mel: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Seren aid Segang: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15; if necessary
Seren aid Dimitri: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24; if necessary
Other than forced quiet for 3 rounds, don't know how to make Mel more stealthy (note it inhibits spellcasting)

DM NomadSage |

Return to Eel's End
With a day's rest and plan in mind, you move out from the Three Rings Tavern a little after midnight. The city streets are in a rare state of calm this evening, and you encounter no trouble on your way to Old Korvosa and Eel's End.
Seren and Absinthe split off early to procure a rowboat and make their way across the water. At this late hour, there is little traffic on the Narrows.
Stealth and Prof (sailor) check from the boat crew...
Segang, Demitri and Melianthe find the dockside den much as you left it the night before. Although the topside patrons are fewer, having moved inside to enjoy the gambling, drugs or 'companionship', there are still some stragglers and guards milling about.
Distraction inputs?

Segang |

Segang actually has a rank in Profession sailor - does he need to be on the boat? And we are way too early - I was thinking 4 am. Mel had mentioned 3.
Segang takes up a spot well away from the Eels End where he can watch the business hopefully die down.

Melianthe Ssulissien |

Just before entering the End, Melianthe casts Mage Armor and Unseen Servant.
She pulls from her satchel a small wrapped parcel that doesn't smell too savory, and unwraps it to reveal a big clot of gizzards and the like. "I know an inn that always tosses their refuse in the back--attracts a cloud of seagulls."
She commands the servant to move to near the edge of its range with a blob of the 'chitlins', but not too in the open. She then waits.

Segang |

Understood
Segang watches for some sign from his friends before moving in to the Eel. He is unsure how long it will take them to maneuver the boat.

DM NomadSage |

Sorry, I was waiting for something but I don't remember what. I guess you're waiting on me too... Doh!
Not long after Segang and the others set up on the dockside, Melianthe picks out Seren and Absinthe's boat creeping along the edge of the canal. The two humans cannot make them out in the darkness, and their paddling is masked by the waves splashing against the ships.
If you're going to try a distraction, now would be the time...

Absinthe Mooneyes |

Absinthe silently pilots the boat in the right direction.
There is a brief wriggling under her shirt, and then her tail pops out. While the tiefling keeps her hands on the oars, she signals Seren to get ready with her tail before pulling it back under cover.

Once we get close, Seren will cast vanish and then forced quiet giving him 2-3 rds to get up with a rope and see the lay of the guards.
Stealth: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (3) + 31 = 34

DM NomadSage |

Melianthe and Segang's efforts draw no significant, immediate responses, but work well enough for the distraction... no shouts of alarm are heard as Absinthe quietly oars the boat up alongside the Eel's End.
Which side are you pulling up to: port, aft or starboard (wedged between the Eel's End and Dragon's Breath Corridor)?
