Yay, buffs!
"This is Thassilonian, all right," Mav mutters. "Random-seeming elemental magic, and - Hey, where'd everyone go?!" He responds to his confusion as he normally does, with a crossbow aimed at where he last saw an active foe. Thrown, not shot.
Total Concealment, Low Hits: 1d100 ⇒ 76
| DM Khel |
Guess I wasn't clear, I needed everyone to make a DC 21 Will save (Zirt already did). If you succeed, look behind the spoiler in my last post.
| DM Khel |
Since Rayne's actions this round won't affected by the Will save, I'll resolve them now:
Rayne hears a surprised, pained cry, followed by a softer grunt, suggesting two of his arrows have hit home!
Still need a Will save from Mav, which might get rid of the miss chance on his attack.
Mavarion
|
Will save (+5 Hardy): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Mav curses as his vision is blocked out.
| DM Khel |
Over the howling sleet, the Pathfinders hear what sounds like a length of wood – a bow, perhaps? - bouncing on the stone floor, followed by a voice calling, ”Stop shooting me, I surrender! “
Round 3 Initiative:
Melnat
Nalme (-64 hp, down)
Mavarion
Rayne
Zirt
Alexei (red) (-42 hp)
Hrolf
Hrolf is up! Still need a couple of saves from him: DC 20 Will save for the wall of nausea (If you fail the save, you also need to make a DC 12 Acrobatics check or fall prone.) and a DC 21 Will save related to the sleet storm.
Oh, and since we're back to Hrolf in initiative again, the lightning trap zaps him again!
Touch attack on Hrolf: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Electricity damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 1) = 11
Mavarion
|
"Is this a real surrender, unseen entity?" Mav yells over the din. "Or is it one of those fake ones I totally never did to catch someone off guard? Whatever, we'll see, come over to my voice and we'll talk it out!"
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson

Paizo's been up and down all morning for me. It's making posting a real chore.
Will: 1d20 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 4 = 29
Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Hrolf resists the wave of sickening vertigo that hits him but finds his vision obscured by the sudden curtain of sleet and snow.
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10
Cursing as he's painfully zapped again, Hrolf pushes onward.
A single move gets Hrolf out of the sleet storm. Does he see someone surrendering on the other side?
| DM Khel |
Hrolf sees the nice man who was shooting arrows at you all. He has dropped his bow and is holding his empty hands in the air. He's bleeding badly from a pair of arrow wounds and seems quite sincere in his desire to not be shot anymore.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson
|
Hrolf levels his spear at the man's throat and kicks his bow further away.
Readying to attack if he tries any funny business.

The erstwhile archer stands with his hands raised, looking down nervously at the tip of Hrolf’s spear and trying not to move even slightly. Hrolf is soon distracted, however, by an absolutely terrifying creature that appears before him, the most fearsome thing he has ever seen, a monstrosity of mouths and teeth and claws and dripping, acidic bile and poorly-attached toupees.
Hrolf – DC 21 Will save. If you fail that, DC 21 Fort save. If you make the Fort save, take 3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2) = 11 damage.
Round 4 Initiative:
Melnat
Nalme (-64 hp, down)
Mavarion

Hrolf steels himself, refusing to believe such an awful thing exists.
Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Reroll!: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 4 = 23
"No, that's impossible", he gasps. "Not only would that be unconstitutional... it's a conflict of interest..."

After about 5 minutes of trying to move my icon, which was mostly accidentally resizing it, I decided from now on to ask or wait until I'm on a computer instead.
"Hrolf, who are you talking at? Is it the enemy?" Mav calls to the big Ulfen man, stepping quickly forward and over a rune in the limited vision of the cloud.
Double move.
Zirt Fzerkinkratzcher
|
Zirt (atop Gregarious) hurries forward to assist. Double move as well... also on my phone, so if someone would move me, Zirt and Gregarious and Benedict and I would be right grateful at you.
| DM Khel |
I moved Zirt and the menagerie on the map.
As Mav and Zirt hurry through the sleet storm, they’re reminded of the electrified floor by a crackling sound and a searing pain!
Touch AC vs Mav: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Touch AC vs Zirt: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Touch AC vs Benedict: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Touch AC vs Gregarious: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Electricity damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 5) = 9
Round 4 Initiative:
Melnat
Nalme (-64 hp, down)
Mavarion
Rayne
Zirt
Alexei (red) (-42 hp, surrendered)
Hrolf
Hrolf is up, since Alexei isn’t doing anything.
As the rest of you pass through the wall of nausea (purple line on map), please make a DC 20 Will save or be nauseated for 1 round. If you fail the save, you also need to make a DC 12 Acrobatics check or fall prone.
Zirt Fzerkinkratzcher

Zirty Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Acronomeics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Gregarious Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Gregarious Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Benedict Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Zirt does a little dance in the saddle as her stomach reminds her that the last thing she had to eat is still partially around. Her writhing upsets Gregarious, who suddenly falls over sideways and begins moaning.
Benedict the wolverine, meanwhile, looks over at the two and whines in a concerned tone, then continues trundling forward to confront the menacing toupee monster.
Mavarion
|
Fortunately, Zirt, I think only Hrolf can see the accursed thing.
Will, Hardy, Heroism: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33
Mav walks through the wall with nary a second thought. "I don't know who you think you are, but you're a fool to pit yourself against a dwarf's stomach!" He starts at the jolt, however, but the effect is subsumed by his personal force field.
Rayne Deverin
|
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Rayne moves through the wall and finds his stomach churning. His liquid lunch was planning a revolution. Though ill, he easily keeps his footing.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson
|
Between his electrical burns and the emotion trauma he's experienced, Hrolf is badly wounded. He takes a moment to heal himself.
CMW: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (1, 4) + 8 = 13
Celestial: "There's a dangerous spellcaster hidden in here somewhere. Find him!"
| DM Khel |
Mav, Zirt and the beasties aren’t quite through the wall yet, but we’ll just use those saves.
The electric floor zaps everyone on it one more time! Once again, a voice can be heard from somewhere further into the room, though it’s hard to make out what it’s saying.
Touch vs Rayne: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 This zap would have happened when you crossed the floor.
Touch vs Mavarion: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Touch vs Zirt: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Touch vs Gregarious: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Zirt (nauseated, so is Gregarious)
Hrolf
Party is up!
Zirt Fzerkinkratzcher

Gregarious has bigger things than nausea to worry about, as he's 2hp from dead-dead. :(
Zirt jumps off her now-inert dog's back, her face a mask of horror. "You monsters!" she screams. For a moment she seems to vacillate between rage at whoever did this (or perhaps whoever's nearest to hand...) and concern for her dear friend, but concern wins. "Gregarious, my dear fluffy friend! Please wake up, Gregarious! Wake up!!!!"
The little gnome begins to cry, clutching her friend and wishing she were strong enough to get him off the electrical floor. "Someone help me!" she cries. Cast cure moderate wounds on him... but if someone would be willing to pick him up and move him off the electric floor, Zirt would pretty much owe you one for life.
CMW: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (7, 6) + 5 = 18
Gregarious is up at 5hp. DM, can he stand up and move off the floor?
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson
|
Feeling partially restored, Hrolf taps the mountain range tattooed on one bulging muscular shoulder.
Celestial: "Hold Maravion! I'll find this witch for you."
1d3 ⇒ 2
The earthen tattoo stretches and swells until two small creatures of living stone emerge. They quickly move across the room searching out the party's unseen foe.
Summoning two small earth elementals. They're using tremorsense to find the hidden spellcaster.
| DM Khel |
Hrolf's summoned minions spread out, but don't feel any vibrations in the floor others than those made by the Pathfinders and the Aspis agents they can already see.
Yes, Zirt, Gregarious can stand up and move off the floor.
Mavarion
|
"Hrolf, what are you saying?!" Mavarion calls back, finally making his way out of the sleet.
| DM Khel |
The shocking floor is quiet now, its energies perhaps spent at last. The rest of the treasure chamber is, however, filled with a mighty roar as an earth elemental suddenly appears in front of the altar! The creature is similar to the pair summoned by Hrolf, but far more massive in size! It swings a colossal earthen limb at one of the smaller elementals, sending it smashing into a nearby pillar! Chunks of stone fly off the pillar and the small elemental as it falls to the floor.
The earthen creature takes a ponderous step closer to the party and, at the same time, Mavarion feels a strange rigidity come over him, as if he’s unable to move!
Awesome Blow combat maneuver vs blue elemental: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (2) + 21 = 23
Slam damage + pillar damage: 2d8 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 9 + (1) = 16
Blue elemental is now prone.

Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson

Frustrated by his elementals proving useless, Hrolf moves on to something with sonar. And wings.
Summoning a dire bat. Hoping blindsense proves more successful than tremorsense.
| DM Khel |
Hrolf's bat seems to sense something just below the ceiling on the far end of the room, between the last two pillars to the right of the altar.
Not sure how much the bat can tell you about what it saw, but I've revealed the location of the flying individual that it has sensed.
Rayne Deverin
|
Assuming Hrolf points out where the caster is, Rayne fires his bow at it. "Time to end this."
Rapid, Deadly, Vs Purple: 1d20 + 15 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (13) + 15 - 2 - 3 = 23
Manyshot: 2d8 + 18 ⇒ (2, 7) + 18 = 27
Rapid, Deadly, Vs Purple: 1d20 + 15 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (5) + 15 - 2 - 3 = 15

1d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
| DM Khel |
I put a bat on the map for Hrolf.
Guided by the summoned bat’s mad chittering to indicate a target, Rayne’s first shot strikes home, twinned arrows hitting someone hard! The next two shots sail past, clattering against the stone walls beyond.
Round 6 Initiative:

Remember that you're a heroic dwarf!
Zirt turns her red-rimmed eyes in the direction of the invisible foe, pulling a handful of flour out of her pouch as she does so. "You hurt Gregarious!" she cries, gnomely rage filling her voice. Reaching the other hand into her belt pouch and squeezing the flour into a compact ball, she produces a spoon and launches the now-compacted flour at the invisible meanie. Glitterdust, DC17.
Mavarion
|
Will, Hardy, Heroism: 1d20 + 7 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 5 + 2 = 27
Mavarion shrugs off the sudden rigidness in his limbs, then takes a shot at the flyer around the massive rock. A dust mote, fired with the force of a bullet, aims to pierce right through whatever it touches.
Empowered Extended TK, Heroism vs. Purple: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33
Damage, Piercing: 4d6 + 15 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 6) + 15 = 27
40 damage total.
| DM Khel |
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 17
The cloud of flour explodes near the ceiling, coating a small figure, looking rather gnome-like, in bright white! Her eyes blink several times as she clears them before Mavarion’s single mote of dust punches her in the gut. ”Curse you, interlopers!” she calls out. ”You’ll pay for this, one way or another!”
With a POP sound, the disgruntled gnome vanishes, leaving behind only a cranky earth elemental, who whacks Mavarion as he zaps the gnome!
Mav – any reason your ranged attack would not provoke an AoO? Big E has 15’ reach.
AoO Slam vs Mav, earth mastery: 1d20 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 17 + 1 = 21
Damage: 2d8 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (1, 6) + 9 + 1 = 17
Target: 1d2 ⇒ 1
The hulking creature then lumbers a few feet forward and turns its attention to Rayne, attempting to smash him twice!
Slam vs Rayne, earth mastery: 1d20 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 17 + 1 = 27

Deadly, Favored: 1d20 + 15 - 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 15 - 3 + 2 = 20
1d8 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 2 = 15

Rayne rolls clear of the elemental and manages to plink it with an arrow!
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson

Hrolf's small elementals have 17 hp.
Hrolf distracts his summons to distract the giant elemental while his companions finish it off.
Elemental 1 (earth mastery, flank): 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 29

Mav steps even further away, nursing a large cut and a grudge. Not feeling his talents would be appreciated by this moving mass of rock, a few droplets of blood shoot themselves at breakneck speed.
Empowered Extended TK, PBS, Heroism: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25
Damage, Bludgeoning: 4d6 + 14 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 2) + 14 = 27
40 damage total.
| DM Khel |
The combined attacks of the Pathfinders turn the elemental into an inert heap of rubble! In a moment, the disturbing wall and the swirling sleet storm dissipate, and Zirt discovers that the floor she’s standing on is no longer trying to fry her and her beloved pets. The only sound at this point is the labored breathing of the woman with the trident, who is unconscious and appears to no longer be bleeding.
In the quiet, the archer says, ”So, you going to let me go?”
Mavarion
|
Mavarion fishes his healing wand out of his pack, bringing it to Zoey or Hrolf in a request to use it on him. "I don't see why we shouldn't let you go, sir," he replies cordially to the archer. "Likewise, I don't see why you shouldn't tell us everything you know about this place, why you are here, what you have found. And I was serious about the badge thing, are you or any of your friends silver agents?"
6 CLW charges should bring back to full.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson
|
Hrolf collects wands and starts tending to the wounded. Feel free to roll your one wand charges. Hrolf is using 5 charges on himself.
"Let's start with who or what was that invisible spellcaster?" the big tattooed ulfen explains to the prisoner.
| DM Khel |
”That was Melnat,” he responds to Hrolf’s relatively straightforward question. ”And I’m Alexei, by the way. Melnat’s my boss on this project, but I guess she decided to save her own skin.” Looking at Mav, he considers a moment, then says, ”Melnat’s the most senior of us, and she’s got a bronze badge, so no, none of us are silver.”
Reluctantly, he continues, ”I don’t know much, except we’d collect relics from the Thassilonian ruins – Melnat can read that old language, so we’d take what she told us to. We’d load the stuff into wagons and take it to Bronze House, but I don’t really know much else. You probably found her journal in the wagon outside, after you killed Chauncey.”
As Alexei finishes speaking, a wide-eyed Kasadei descends the ladder and looks around admiringly at the treasure-laden glories of the place before saying, ”We found the drunk outside, told him we were with you and managed to secure him. You guys find any evidence that will link the Aspis and Bronze House to plundering our Thassilonian treasures?”
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson
|
"Does a witness count? Melnat here was just agreeing to help provide that link in exchange for sparing his life. We've also got a journal that explains most of what Melnat and his comrades were up to."
