Definitely dead but Variel I need a concentration check to cast the fly spell as you are still in the wall of fire when you cast it.
Rain Taneththir
Anyone got Create Water to put out the fire in the middle of the ship? Rain and Neko do not have this orison.
Remaining in the air, 25 ft above deck, Rain flies forward 25 ft to D:11. As a swift action, she changes her animal focus to Tiger (+2 to DEX). Transferring her pike to her off hand, she begins to cast Snowball (Standard Action). A packed ball of snow and ice appears in her right hand and she hurls it up toward the airborne female half-orc.
(Caster is 40 ft in the air, Rain is at 25 ft. The spell range is 35ft and I believe from Rain's current position, the Half-Orc caster is within spell range.)
Ranged Touch Attack with Snowball + Haste on Floating Half-Orc Female: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 1 = 25
Cold damage, if hits: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 2) = 13
On a successful hit, the target must make a successful Fortitude saving throw (DC 13) or be staggered for 1 round.
Concentration Check re Vigorous Motion of Flapping Wings? (DC 10): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 (Not sure if this is required, but tossed it up just in case.)
Fly Check to Hover (DC 15): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
[Active Effects: Haste, Animal Focus: TIGER (+2 to DEX), HP 63/63, AC 22, Currently 25ft in the air above deck. Mythic power 1/5.)]
Neko the Golden
Neko moves 15ft forward to D:16. She begins to cast Magic Missile (Standard Action, 140ft range, no saving throw.)
Magical energy begins to sizzle from her clawtops and she aims it at the airborne female Half-Orc and then again magical energy sizzles atop her claws and she throws a second missile at the Half-Orc female.
Force Damage from Magic Missile 1: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Force Damage from Magic Missile 2: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
(Active Effects: Haste, Mage Armour, HP: 28/28, AC 27, Used up Scorching Ray (SLA))

Anyone got Create Water to put out the fire in the middle of the ship? Rain and Neko do not have this orison.
Indeed! But the GM suggested that Create Water and even a Water Elemental won't matter to this fire (An Ice Elemental will work - so I was told earlier).
Losing our sails from fire would suck.
Amen-set and Horatio notice that Rain has moved over to aid against the caster and they salute her as she advances toward them...
GM: As indicated earlier Amen-set would have charged up to help out after the others had gone against the remaining half-orc. At this point Amen-set is where I had placed her before D:11, but for some reason, she's not appearing on the map.
Also, Rain's Snow Damage and Neko's Magic Missile would have gone off before Amen-set; but in either case, the caster should have suffered 69 damage; though 19 of it is Non-Lethal.
See you later tonight!
Rain Taneththir
Flynn, Rain's avatar is blocking Amen-set's, that is why you can't see it as Rain is hovering 25ft over the same spot currently. Amen's avatar is there -- if you move Rain's out of the way, you will see it.
Re Putting out the fire, Rain only has Summon Nature's Ally I - so she can't summon forth an ice elemental, sadly. Maybe Dhaavan could help out ...
DM Immortal
Fort save vs snowball: 1d20 ⇒ 19 Save successful
The snowball slams into her but she is able to shrug off the stagger effect. The magic missiles seem to impact on an invisible Shield doing no damage to her.
Also I looked at the rules and a water elemental will work due to it's Drench ability that allows it to put out magical files with a Dispel Magic check.

Concentration check for wall of fire DC 10+1/2 damage+spell level=18
Check 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 if the math is wrong and it is higher I will use a surge for 1d6 ⇒ 6
AC 27
Hp 61
Haste round 3

Imbued weapon
Mythic pool 1/5 used
Arcane pool 2/7 used

You need a mythic point, even if it was minimum damage from the fire it would be a dc 19
Vakarla cackles with delight and pulls forth a rotten egg and says a few arcane words before the egg disappears in a burst of green light. At the same time a miasma of disgusting noxious vapors burst into being across the ship. Sending you all retching.
Everyone in the spell effect which is Flynn, Dhaaavan, Seijiro, Variel and Adular need to make fortitude saves DC 18 or be Nauseated. Dhaavan you also need to make a concentration check to keep the summon.
The spell is Stinking Cloud, in case that wasn't obvious lol. This also functions like a fog cloud so you can't see more than 5' if you are in it. Rain you are above the cloud so you're fine. The fire doesn't do anything to the cloud, it still is effective in the flames.
Seijiro
fort save dc 18: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Seijiro, coughing and choking, heads downstairs and waits for the duration of the nausea to wear off.
Variel Nightstorm
|
On the concentration check Variel took 11 damage so half of that is 5. Just curious what I am missing for my own future knowledge. I am still good use the mythic point though. Pal so do you want us to roll for nauseated duration?
Fort save 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Variel flies up through the cloud getting to fresher air. Once there he looks around for the caster again even if he is choking on the fumes.
DM Immortal
Adular Fort Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 + Mythic point surge 1d6 ⇒ 3
Not enough
Adular begins to retch and vomit uncontrollably stumbling out of the cloud. He can take no more actions this round. He can take only move actions for the next 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 rounds.
DM Immortal
Seijiro
nausea rounds for Seijiro: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Variel Nightstorm
|
Ah I see where the difference is.i am going with the fly spell being cast at level 3 instead of the wall of fire spell being level 4. I think it is dependent on the spell being cast otherwise it would be the same difficulty to cast a 9th level spell as it would a cantrip in that situation.
Fly check 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Unable to fly directly up Variel instead moves diagonally upwards and north. With the haste effect up he is able to move 70ft or 35 ft upwards at the diagonal. Should be at A:15 and 20 feet up if the geometry is right.
3 round of nausea left.
DM Immortal
Jiro, where are you going downstairs? you have a max move right now due to difficult terrain of 15' and honestly you can't really concentrate enough to do something like swinging reposition.
Seijiro
If he can't make it down the stairs, then 15' toward the bow... which should put him outside the spread of fumes too.
Horatio Flynn
GM: Question –
So during last round I had Amen-set move to D:11 and strike the Caster for 19 Non-Lethal Damage.
Although you didn’t mention Amen-set in the Fortitude Save thing, I’m assuming that she will also need to make a roll, given that she is under Rain at this time….
Amen-set’s Fortitude Save
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
I would do more with Amen-set, but I’m somewhat confused as to what’s going on with her. I had her make an attack which (I believe) hit for 19 Non-Lethal damage. There was no mention of the status of that attack, or even that she needed to make a Fortitude Save – so she may not even need to, but I’m not sure what’s going on with her…
But for now her check is up and she’s going to use a Move Action to fly up above the smoke then begin to cast a spell (Summon Monster 2). Please let me know if adjustments need to be made for her regarding her combat action as I'm not sure what is going on with her formally at this point...
Meanwhile, Horatio is right on the edge of the cloud and not doing well because of the choking and retching and needs his Fortitude Save, too…
Fortitude Save with Archeologist’s Luck
1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 1 = 18
At which point he moves to E:7 and raises his revolver and takes a single shot at the enemy (not sure if I can use both attacks given the terrain, coming off the fog and so on).
Shot with Revolver at less than 30 feet (penalties factored in via Staggered thing from last round) –
1d20 + 10 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 1 - 2 = 26
If it hits –
1d8 + 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + (6) + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 21
EDIT: So it looks like the saves worked, though barely. So even if I have some kind of janky penalty for shooting at a weird angle with partial cover, I believe that should hit? If so, that's pretty good damage (assuming Amen-set's Ray also worked earlier, too).
DM Immortal
She definitely hit. Remember though, flying up is double movement so she can go up 10' with a move. To get above the cloud she will either need to move laterally or double move.
Nice shot BTW! Even though there is cover for her from the stairs and Seijiro you still hit with that roll. She is still very much up however.
Horatio Flynn
Nice shot BTW! Even though there is cover for her from the stairs and Seijiro you still hit with that roll. She is still very much up however.
Horatio, whipped by the frenzy which ripples through his flesh at the blood turns a glance through the foul-smelling reek and calls out to Amen-set...
"Deshi Basara!"
"Rise Up!"
She halts the spell and pushes herself faster into the air until she is beyond the realm of the cloud and is now rising above it; her platinum hair billowing in the wind and her ice blue eyes staring at the caster.
Cool; Amen-set swapped to a double move so she is above the cloud and can do something useful next round - hopefully.
GM - in case you're not sure of the pronunciation of the phrase above, check Here...
Meantime, it feels like that's a cool 83 points of damage to that caster, maybe, though 19 of them are Non-Lethal, I think...
Anasrianna
Ana's eyes blaze with green fire as she stands and begins to cast, swirling her hands an enormous pillar of green fire 40' across and 40' high engulfs the half-orc woman.
Mythic Flame Strike 7d8 ⇒ (8, 2, 5, 4, 7, 8, 2) = 36
When the inferno clears, her burnt form falls to the deck of the ship.

The other four orcs peek their heads above the edge of the ship right when they see their leader engulfed in flames...and then they drop back into the water and swim for all their worth towards a nearby island about half a kilometer away.

When the inferno clears, her burnt form falls to the deck of the ship.
Outstanding work, Ana!
Does that mean the Stinking Cloud has vanished without the caster?
Horatio turns to Ana and raises a clenched fist toward her in salute; the smoking pistol still held tightly in his hand...
DM Immortal
Up in the rigging however you hear a screech and see Tomo pick up the wizards monkey and hurl it off the crow's nest, where it splatters on the deck below.
Seijiro
Seijiro recovers a few seconds after the caster is struck down and begins to play his harmonica...
perform: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
anyone who is still nauseated can use this as a new save to be no longer nauseated a la 'SEA SHANTY': Allies within 30 feet (including the sea singer) may use his Perform check in place of a saving throw against becoming exhausted, fatigued, nauseated, or sickened; if already under such an effect, a new save is allowed each round of the sea shanty, using the bard’s Perform check for the save.
Horatio Flynn
The other four orcs peek their heads above the edge of the ship right when they see their leader engulfed in flames...and then they drop back into the water and swim for all their worth towards a nearby island about half a kilometer away.
Turns off Rage - still has 3 rounds left
Horatio bounds up the stairs to the corpse, stuffing his pistols in his belt. He pauses only a moment to stare at the nauseated Seijiro and reaches his hand toward the kitsune...
Casts Cure Light Wounds
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
He glances aft toward Amen-set and stabs his finger toward the Half-Orcs.
With a nod she flies after them...
Double Move at 40 Feet a round to follow them.
Then he casts Detect Magic on the caster and searches her corpse, looking for anything with magical aura's first.
DM Immortal
No the stinking cloud is still there as is the Wall of Fire which is currently burning through the side of your ship.
DM Immortal
Flynn that's two rounds of actions there...also aren't you worried about the powder exploding in the cannons?
DM Immortal
Awesome Jiro! Anyone who is currently affected by nausea is now no longer nauseated so long as they are outside the stinking cloud.
Horatio Flynn
No the stinking cloud is still there as is the Wall of Fire which is currently burning through the side of your ship.
Grumble, grumble...
Amen-set uses a Move Action to get on to the Fighting Top and then rests there and casts Summon Monster 2. Six seconds later, an Elemental appears to begin to put out the flames on the deck.
What do I need to do to make sure the elemental puts out the fire, and how long will it take?
Unfortunately we aren't going anywhere until the ship is dragged off the shoals, but that's a whole other issue...
Was there anything cool on the caster?
Horatio Flynn
Flynn that's two rounds of actions there...also aren't you worried about the powder exploding in the cannons?
Didn't think that the fire was effecting the cannon on the foredeck. However, that being the case, I guess he'll do what he can do to make sure the fire isn't hurting the powder near them.
What does that entail formally?
Meantime, the spell he used on Seijiro for 9 HP healing should be in effect as soon as it's possible for Horatio to cast it.
Meantime, he's not too worried - half a kilometer is still 1640 feet. Even with a head start, I think Rain and Variel could easily catch them with a modest Fly Speed and Amen-set will happily help them once the elemental puts out the fire...
DM Immortal
So the small water elemental moves to a section of the Wall of fire and reaches in attempting to dispel that section. Dispel Check vs dc 20: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The elemental is unsuccessful and takes 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (4, 1) + 9 = 14 fire damage...which causes it to dissipate back into the watery plane.
DM Immortal
You are going to need a bigger water elemental or some other option. Also once you get the wall out you will still have the residual fires to put out.
You hear the crew yelling from below deck that they can't get out due to the fire.
What are you all going to do?
Seijiro
Seijiro nods then bows to Horatio while playing his harmonica to acknowledge and thank him for the healing without taking a break in his music, so that anyone else who might become affected can auto-save vs the miasma.
Horatio Flynn
What are you all going to do?
Horatio bows briefly to Seijiro, then turns to Ana -
"By the gods; what the hell is with that spell!" he cries out, a dark scowl on his face.
Seijiro
if wof requires concentration - it doesn't mean checks unless the caster takes damage, but it does mean she can't cast anything else, which she was doing.. .maybe there was a second caster we don't know about?
Concentration: The spell lasts as long as you concentrate on it. Concentrating to maintain a spell is a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. Anything that could break your concentration when casting a spell can also break your concentration while you're maintaining one, causing the spell to end. See concentration. You can't cast a spell while concentrating on another one. Some spells last for a short time after you cease concentrating.
DM Immortal
Read the spell people...it's concentration +1 round per level, she cast it then moved on knowing it would continue for another 9 rounds
Seijiro
-I- didn't read the spell, since Seijiro didn't make a spellcraft check to know it... just went from what Horatio said
Variel Nightstorm

Not having much to be able to counter the wall of fire Variel insteads hopes to put out a section of it with his cutlass. Focusing the blades others powers a torrent of water comes gushing forth.
hydraulic push dispel check against wall of fire closest to sails? 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Thanks Jiro for the help there with the nausea. That was one foul egg she had.
He then looks for Dhaavan in hopes that he can summon some water elementals to quench the rest of the flame.
Just for reference and reminder to myself, follow half orcs once fire is out, claim their ship and search it, and also explore ships previously sunk.
Horatio Flynn
-I- didn't read the spell, since Seijiro didn't make a spellcraft check to know it... just went from what Horatio said
you're correct, Seijiro, and GM. I'm deleting my earlier post and editing the other post.
Sorry about that.
Horatio Flynn
With no knowledge of the spell, or how it works, he felt an icy fear grip his gut. After all, he had seen Amen-set summon an Elemental being to extinguish the flame and saw the magic fire destroy the water creature without effort.
Horatio jerks a cloth from his face and covers his mouth and glances aloft toward the sails, his eyes narrowing.
As any doctor knows, the chief cause of death in mass fires is smoke inhalation and the lack of oxygen it causes, and very rarely the fires themselves.
Given the massive amount of hemp rope, tarred wood and heavy canvas cloth and the amount of smoke that burning such things could cause, it's a wonder that anyone could see or even breath...
As he stares at the tower of black smoke stretching to the sky he realizes another dark truth: the smoke was thick and tall and was a sure marker to indicate their position to any sailor for miles around.
Even if the fire was able to be extinguished the smoke would surely draw other threats, and as the ship was stuck wedged against a reef it could take hours for the men to drag it off; pump the water from the bilges; repair the cracks in the hull and re-tar the seams of the beams below.
Finally, there were no spare sails on board the ship that he recalled the crew buying in port. Even if the fire could be put out, the ship would be dead in the water...
I believe that there are rules for how fast the sails can burn; but at this point I'll play that by ear.
As neither he, nor Amen-set, has the power to put out this magical fire Horatio will simply turn to the hatch and move below and do what he can to make sure the sailors below are not choking to death on the smoke.
In addition to that, as the ship is still listing, once he's able to do what he can to aid the sailors below he'll then check on the ship itself to figure out how bad the damage is.
Spell Craft Check to find out what's up with this Wall of Fire
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Not sure if that will reveal anything...
Horatio will move to the hatch as fast as possible, then. As this is Round 6 when he makes this decision (Amen-set cast the Elemental after the caster Died on Round 5; it appeared on Round 6 and was destroyed that round, I think). That said, he should get to the hatch with a Double Move Action by Round 7. However, he'll skirt the fire which means he'd formally get there by Round 8. Not sure how long the fire will last at this point, but he's clear that he doesn't have any magic to stop this.
That being the case, he'll take Fire Damage going below on Round 8; but at this point he doesn't want the crew to choke to death on the smoke below, not to mention possibly being burned.
DM Immortal
Sandara yells from below that they are alright, just trapped by the fire.
Anasrianna
Ana looks over and says Begin to get the crew above deck once the wall of fire is out!
She then casts dispel magic at the wall of fire, pitting her not inconsiderable will against the former wrecker leader.
Dispel check with mythic surge, vs dc 20: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 7 + (4) = 21
The entire wall of fire disappears in the blink of an eye but the normal fires continue to rage in the rigging and on the port side of the ship.
