Enjoy. I'll get the initial setup post up in Gameplay before I leave for the weekend.

I am too. No gameplay post tonight, though - striking camp in the rain, then driving something over five hours and unpacking took it out of me. Will post tomorrow.

Post delayed; my desktop at work hasn't been talking to the network.

Thanks for the heads-up. Good luck with the hand.

Ow. Hope you heal up soon.

Doing actual tabletop gaming today (for the first time in over a year!), then dinner and movie with my wife.

One out of three...I got to game, but the folks we had in doing landscaping weren't done until around 8--we had to hang around until the work was done, so that was that. Definitely glad to hear it was only bruising, although that can still take some time to heal fully.

Cool! I was playing Beasts & Barbarians (Savage Worlds) at the FLGS.

Quick poll on the topic of potions:
How badly do we think they will be needed? I’ve got 4SP or so, and it sounds like everyone else is in similar straits. I’m not sure what spells Oranna picked, but I’m assuming she has CLW and Channel, which should easily carry us through a Level 1 adventure, right?
I have CLW available as an extract (works on me only, for now) and can double up, if we’re really stretched for resources, but I personally think we should be fine.
Anyway, to move things along, I just wanted to ask if we really needed to go looking for potions we probably can’t afford, anyway. If anyone feels pretty strongly that we should, I’m game.

I'm good with moving forward without spending time haggling for healing pots, as well. Huc's only got 5g to contribute. Plus, he's got CLW as one of his known spells, and 2 spell slots to spend it on. Oranna doesn't have Channel (not that Mystery), but she also has CLW and spell slots to spend it on.
Well just have to play it safe, but I'm confident in moving forward.

Something I definitely should have mentioned before this--having someone with Knowledge (Engineering) is going to help a lot as you proceed. I'm OK with Arien swapping one of her Knowledge skills. Or there are some story xp rewards you could try to accelerate your leveling.
ETA: Did everyone remember to take Background Skills?

Oh, I did not. Let me go back and reread the beginning.

I'd forgotten to include it in the original character creation rules, but added it later. See post #23.

Thanks. I added Kn(Engineering) and Sleight of Hand, unless there are other suggestions.

No problem, Eben. I'm going to be a little occupied this weekend as well.
Also too:
I’m a little fuzzy on what a witch tower is in this setting. Is it just a mundane prison or tower, or was it used to incarcerate suspected witches? My assumption was that magic was never that taboo (at least in this region.)
The original tower was part of the castle of the town's founder, and after the then Baron rebelled and lost, most of the castle was razed. Around the same time, though, all of the monks at the nearby Iroran monastery vanished, and the locals took to calling the last part of the castle the Witch Tower. OOC, there's nothing particularly significant about the name; it's just signifying that there's something a little spooky about the tower.

I'm going to be traveling from 8/5 to 8/11, and am unlikely to be able to connect.

I’d recommend that everyone fill that lull by watching Stranger Things on Netflix. Amazing show, and awesome nerd references that really tie into the plot.

So, recent events have me wondering, could a player pull their punches, if they needed to knock some sense into a fellow player? Basically, could I commute a damage roll down to 1 or somesuch?
| DM Carbide |
I don't know; it seems like it'd be easier to go with nonlethal damage.

I don’t do enough unarmed damage to really make a dent; I was just curious.

On the road again, taking my mom to IrishFest in Milwaukee. I'll post tonight or tomorrow.

Master Temperance, have you seen this Kickstarter? Not sure about the initial color scheme, but maybe one of the stretch goals would be more to your liking.

Aw, cute! I accumulate axolotl stuff......very slowly. So as to not be that guy. But I do have a meditating axolotl hoodie. :D
Stranger Things was wonderful. I can't wait for the next season. What a great ET/Super 8 vibe.

IT DID IT AGAIN!!!
Again it isn't updating this thing for me!
I hate it when that happens.

Can I get some clarification on the current set-up? Which of the following is the case:
A) Only one door can be opened at a time. The locks are separate, and as long as we unlock both, we just have to create a traversing plan that accounts for the fact that if one door is open, the other one is closed.
B) The locks themselves are connected, so only one door can be unlocked at a time. And if this is the case, can a door be set to "lock", but still be open? (Basically, could we unlock a door, open it, then turn just the lock back on without closing it, meaning the other door is now unlocked and we have free access between the two doors.)

Busy weekend. I did archery Saturday for the first time in a couple of decades (my shoulders have forgiven me, I think), and went to see Kubo and the Two Strings yesterday with my wife. Recommended.
Any questions on what's happening? I realize that this bit seems kind of out of the blue, but just remember that the module isn't going to throw something at you that they haven't already given you the tools to deal with.
