I'm living amongst all the various segments and social classes of the city that I can get access to. I stay with one group/place long enough to learn everything I think I can about them and then move on to the next one. My goal, as always, is knowledge.
ps:I love that the ancient arcane language is Chinese. I think I already said this, but I live in China and trying to learn that sh*t is like trying to learn some mystical ancient mystery. The writing/reading is so hard. Fits perfectly.
I'm working on the Chinese too. After a year I can function but I still cant have a very interesting conversation. Where do you live in China, I'm in Hunan.
我在东北，大连市。 I just hit a year this month too, I can certainly get around. But I can only read like 200 characters or something. My conversations definitely aren't deep or anything. I mostly talk to kids under 6 years old and taxi drivers, so I'm really good with farm animals and telling them to sit down and shut up and not try to eat each other. But that's about it.
Checking in. FYI I am switching my starting languages, since there are some custom ones in the campaign.

umm, well just from browsing who posted it seems that everyone who HAS posted is doing so via alias, but idk if we're waiting on somebody else to come in
Sorry for the late start for me today. I was playing Munchkins with my kids first thing this morning and it became an epic battle to finish.
I'm here and with the DMs permission I may change a few of my languages around given what was said later. Oh, and for the record, all I can say in chinese is 'mom' and 'moose' which I believe are nearly identical except for the intonation. Don't get them confused. I also, me not Gunk, am fairly passable in Italian. It's more vocabulary than grammar.

That reminds me. DM Caleth, did you ever answer my question concerning persistent blade? Last night's posts happened so fast, i can't remember if that got answered. I'm going to go check, but this post is going down first.
Edit: No, t was never answered. I'll just repeat it here. Since the persistent blade spell has an attack roll, do I add sneak attack to it? Twilight knife, a similar spell with sneak attack damage of its own, seems to me to suggest that it would.
Curden, would the friend who recommended your Ambidextrous trait by chance play on these boards? And would he by chance play in/ have played in one of nightflier's games?

Gotcha. I saw something similar in nightflier's house rules as a trait, and I thought he mighta picked it up there, but I suppose not.
huh that's funny, i'm trying to get into one of nightflier's games right now. ya and with a little insight i realized how freakin broken that was for a trait. maybe a reasonable feat
Even as a feat, with the current ruleset, it's quite powerful. With light weapons, that would completely negate TWF penalties . Ambidextrous was intended for use with 3.0 TWF, which didn't decrease the penalties quite as much as 3.5 or PF TWF does.
well not necessarily as an EASY feat to get, maybe somewhere up on the two-weapon fighting tree
Even at higher levels, that's a really powerful feat. That's an extra 10% chance on all attacks to hit. That -2 penalty is to keep TWF at least generally in line with THF, attacking more often but hitting slightly less often by the numbers. I don't know if you've ever seen a high level TWF build in play, but they often, at least in my experience, do more dammage than a THF build, at least when they can get a full attack off. They are affected much more by loss of a full attack, as their standard action attack is comparatively pitiful.
But I digress. All I'm really saying is that I wouldn't allow it in any game I run. Whether you might or not may be a different matter, but it's actually a noticable boost in DPR to get rid of that -2.

Curden, for the future, just use the Preview button to see what your roll is so that you can account for spoiler names or what have you.

Below your text input box are three buttons. Preview, Cancel, and Submit Post. Instead of hitting Submit Post and editing your post afterwards, you can hit that preview button to see what your dice rolls aare and if your formatting is correct so you can change things if need be and account for dice rolls in-game. For example, if you roll really well on a Diplomacy check, you might write out an eloquent paragraph, but if you fumbled beyond hope, you may want to express your flub.

Oh hey 'N', you shoulda met Nareth I'grada, LN cleric of Zon-Kuthon. He was probably the best torturer of all time. He would capture somebody, then ask his servant to count to 4 minutes. He'd beat the bloody pulp out of the victim, calmly asking for answers. Until he got his answers or 4 minutes passed, he calmly continue. Then he'd use his 'loss' cleric ability to wipe the last 5 minutes of their memory...LOLZ
