Kip Bendybrook
I'm not sure about an ethical debate seeing as how Kip's comment was internal monologue. :)
And so I ask again... do you want me to deafen it?
Kalev Lehola
Is there some way to determine if it is more than just a bird? I've little knowledge of the arcane, but if it is a familiar, or whatever you called it, wouldn't there be some magical signs?
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
The raven's eyes seemed to flare a dark red colour as the bird's gaze was drawn away from the fascinating light display- only to look directly at Malthir.
Then, impossibly, unpredictably and brutally- the bird literally exploded, with the force of a powerful fireball. The Guardians were all caught in the blast as whatever dark force was using the Raven as its eyes sacrificed it now that it was captured.
Fire Damage: 10d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 3, 4, 2, 1, 4, 3, 1) = 26
Reflex DC20 for 13 damage rather than 26.
You all have until Wednesday evening (GMT+0) to post your actions for the next four rounds- then i'm going to pick up from the northern pit disappearing. Anyone who hasn't declared actions will simply be assumed to delay.
Kip Bendybrook
reflex save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Kip's quick reflexes allow him to throw himself to the ground avoiding the brunt of the blast.
Standing up again quickly Kip remarks sarcastically, Well that settles that. It has been a while since something has blown up in my presence. Thought I was beginning to lose my touch.
No actions for sure now. ;)
Kip Bendybrook
In case the healers come calling, Kip's current HP: 47 of 62. :)
Fenna Thistleswade
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Fenna was just beginning to lean in to speak with the raven when it erupted in her face, scorching the gnome's small frame and throwing her back with the force of the explosion.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
Fenna was just beginning to lean in to speak with the raven when it erupted in her face, scorching the gnome's small frame and throwing her back with the force of the explosion.
Because you rolled a natural 1, one of your objects may be damaged. As far as I know Fenna has nothing in hand so the four objects that could be affected are- Shield, Armour, Headband, Magic Cloak. Rolling- 1d4 ⇒ 2. Armour then. Please make a separate saving throw for your armour, against DC20.
Ricter Vorsk
Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
The fire catches Ricter's unshielded side, cooking him inside his armor
"Ghah! What by the GODS was THAT!?"
He pats out a fire on his cape
"I hope you're right, Casimir. This steady trickle of attacks is beginning to feel like we're being toyed with"
HP is now 55/81. I've got no relevant actions to take in the next 4 rounds
Malthir Al Dagon
Round 1, Malthir emits an aura of healing.
Channel 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 5) = 16
We should use wands if possible and save our spells, this could take some time to grind our way through these guardians.
I suggest Ricter and I lead the way with Kalev attacking from the second rank and Casimir cutting off any that try to flank us.
Casimir
Sounds good, Malthir. We had best rely on our blades and brains as much as possible. I have a few things here that will help us, and a little something that may serve to draw the attention of some of the more mindless defenders.
Casimir grabs a helmet and a cloak from one of the defeated zombies, then conjures up his invisible servant. He drapes the cloak around the force figure, then has Fenna cast light on the helmet before setting it on the figure's "head".
[b]"Our friend here will serve as an advanced scout, lighting the way before us. He will not trigger any traps though, so we had best keep an open eye."[b]
He then pulls out a couple of wands and activates them. Once he is done, he places a wand in each of his wrist sheaths.
Feather step (10 min duration) for everyone, and see invisibility (30 min duration) for me. Unfortunately, it does not look like we brought along a healing wand. I may have forgotten to add it to my sheet, but can't be certain.
hp 56 of 66
Ricter Vorsk
Ricter shifts his weight from foot to foot, getting used to the wand's mobility enhancing magic.
"Cunning plan, Casimir. And I too agree with that formation."
"Do we have any ways of covering our retreat if the opposition becomes overwhelming?"
HP = 71/81
Casimir
4-5 to conjure the servant and dress him up, six to get everyone geared up with feather step, one to cast see invisibility and two full rounds to replace the wands. Let's say 15 total, to allow for some moving back and forth.
"Thank you, Ricter. And between myself and Kip, I'm confident we have enough creative tricks at our disposal to cover our escape, should the need arise. There are more charges left in the wand of haste, if nothing else."
Kalev Lehola
Ref: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Kalev manages to turn his back and cover his head with his arms just as the bird detonates.
What foul magic is this? he says, a note of anger on his voice.
HP:58/71
Kip Bendybrook
Kip looks at Kalev and Ricter. It would seem that the bird's master has, quite spectacularly and with finality, severed his link with his familiar.
Kip nods along with Cas and adds, I can summon more pits if necessity dictates.
Kalev will not require feather step until the fly spell is exhausted... (He still has 7+ min left)
Are we expecting difficult terrain?
As Kip talks he removes a wand from his pack and reloads it into his wrist sheathe. (wand of mirror image)
Kip then produces another wand from his pack and offers it to Cas and Malthir. I've been carrying this one... not much to it, but it is something. (wand of CLW, CL1, 9 charges)
I also have a wand of enlarge if anybody wishes to match up to the big brutes...
Guess that is 2 rounds then. ;)
Casimir
Are we expecting difficult terrain?
Not particularly - this is more in the "ready for anything" department, and because I've been hauling around a fully charged wand for a couple of levels now.
Kip Bendybrook
You could skip Kip for the time being... he has fly and exp. retreat available if it becomes an issue.
Kip Bendybrook
Round 7 Init 14
Drew wand of MI, started loading in sheath
Round 8 Init 14
Finished loading and drew wand of CLW
Round 9 Init 14
Drew wand of EP, used EP wand on Malthir
Round 10 Init 14
Used EP wand on Ricter
Ricter, Malthir and Fenna can go around the south side of the column, while the rest of us go the other way.
Round 11 Init 14
*North pit expires*
Used EP wand on Kalev, stored wand in pack
Let's see how they like a pincer maneuver!
Round 12 Init 14
*South pit expires*
*Slow expires*
Kip moves to the north, past the recently closed pit, with Cas and the enlarged Kalev in the lead. :)

Kip does not require any further healing after Malthir's channel. We do have the one wand of CLW that Kip was carrying. (see a few posts up)
Ricter Vorsk
"One touch of healing over here wouldn't go amiss, Fenna."
"I don't think now is the time to enlarge more than one of our number. These tunnels are too cramped to fight effectively in that state. Perhaps Kalev would benefit, though"
"Pincer or phalanx, then? What's the call, Baron?"
Casimir
Cas is down 10 hp, so a hit off the wand Kip is carrying is probably not a bad idea.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
That'll do it!
I say we stay together. If we separate, we are exposed if anything unexpected hits us, and we've seen several examples of that already.
Kip Bendybrook
Tunnels? I thought we are going around the other side of the big column of rock? How cramped can it be? The large sized undead didn't seem too cramped. :P
Kip doesn't care who is enlarged and who isn't. Just sound off and I'll mark the charges off. Same with the direction/formation of attack. Kip will follow whoever, wherever.
Malthir Al Dagon
No point in taking chances, Fenna can you heal Kalev? How about Ricter and I in the front with Kalev enlarged just behind us with Casimir and Fenna bringing up the rear, that way we take advantage of your defenses as well as Kalev massive reach?
We can move forward with just one person enlarged at the moment, Kalev is the best choice with his feat set. Frontal assault is fine.
Malthir Al Dagon
Okay, then Kip by Fenna ready with pits or other countering magic. Sorry Kip I did not forget you, just a little foggy headed from te battle...
Yeah not sure what happened there, that's what I get for posting right after I wake up...
Kip Bendybrook
Marking 1 charge off of the enlarge wand then... and did someone take the CLW wand from Kip? 1 charge marked off of it too as well.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne
A lull came over the battle as the Guardians prepared for the pits to disappear and moved into a rough Phalanx formation, Casimir preparing his "scout". In the darkness ahead and around the corner, the enemy surely made their own plans...
As one, the Guardians moved into the tunnel and with the lights illuminating their approach, their foe were ready for them. Unfortunately, Casimir's gambit seemed to be completely ignored- for what reasons the duellist could not possibly know for sure. The foe had adopted a similar formation to the Guardian's themselves- some of the remaining armoured zombies occupying the front with two visible, giant Cylops' looming just behind; lacking Kalev's extreme reach with his polearm. Both sides came across each other and the fight began in earnest once more...
Cliffside Conflict (Continued)
Round 1-
Ordered Initiative-
With both sides essentially delaying to move into formation i'm going to simply opt for a Them VS You initiative roll, taking a loose average of initiative for both sides.
Undead: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Guardians: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Guardians- 14
Undead- 4
Active Effects-
Fly on Kalev-
Enlarge Person on Kalev-
I've likely missed some. Let me know and i'll add them to next round if pertinent.
Map-
Notes-
Corridor is mostly three squares wide, two in some places.
Action-
Having steadily marched into the narrow gap, the forces of the living were quick to capitalise on the ground they had gained and surged to the offensive...
Your all up. Try and give some indication if your letting others go before you, trying to act first etc.
Kip Bendybrook
Kip will be delaying for the others to act first.
Current status & effects:

I could drop a pit behind them... force them to move this way... Kip offers helpfully. Under the big one in the back...
