Kua's wild swing misses the devil by a hand's breadth, but Yang's force missile sends it reeling. With a powerful blow of his own, Auron pounds the thing into the floor where it expands into a puddle of melted fat before burning off into a haze of smoke and disappearing.

Male Human (Cheliax) Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier (Hound Master) 2

'eh, heh. That weren't so tough, huh.
Auron gives the bloatmage a wink before adding on.

How 'bout the room. Anythin' in 'ere?

Auron takes a casual look inside.

Male Half Orc Duskwarden 2

Kua steps in behind the cavalier and begins looking through the alcoves.

Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

With the lemure vanquished, you find little of interest in the dusty tomb.

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

Sister Mara attempts to update her map and realizes that her mapping skills leave somewhat to be desired.

Whoa, looks like I'm off by about 25 feet from where the eastern entrance leads into the cathedral. Gonna have to adjust things a bit!

Male Human (Cheliax) Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier (Hound Master) 2

Lets 'ave another go 'en. Open up the next 'un.

Auron scratches his chin as he moves towards the adjacent statue.

Adjacent to him are the voluptuous nude woman with the two-headed guisarme and the obese man with rotting flesh holding a scythe.

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

"Let's try the one behind the rotting fat man holding the scythe," Sister Mara suggests, moving forward to check the secret door for traps. "Based on the statue's appearance, I'll bet that this one has something to do with undead..."

Take 20 on Perception for total check of 26.

Sister Mara easily finds the secret entrance to the next crypt, now knowing exactly what to look for.

Swinging the heavy stone door open, she finds another dusty chamber with evenly spaced niches like the previous crypt. But instead of bodies in funerary trappings in each niche, the floor is covered with a mound of splintered bones.

Kua takes the first steps into the crypt, eyes scanning back and forth for anything out of the ordinary.

Auron thrusts his torch into the room before tossing it into a nearby mound of bones. He follows Kua, a few steps behind.

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

Godsmouth Ossuary Catacombs Map

Sister Mara takes up position behind Auron, crossbow loaded and ready to fire into the chamber should anything hostile emerge.

When Kua reaches the center of the room an emaciated form leaps at him from the shadows where it had been concealed! What was once a man is now a pale wretch with leathery skin, a fang-filled mouth ringing a distended tongue and the deflated bulk of a once corpulent belly drooping from its midsection. A second creature dives at the Duskwarden from one of the niches in the side, stepping between Kua and Auron! Before he can raise a hand to defend himself, they both lay into the Duskwarden.
Kua is flat-footed and flanked, but the second creature is flanked by Auron and Kua.

Ouch, 19 total damage to Kua. Please give me two Fortitude saves.

DM Screen:

Spoiler:
1d1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 161d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Male Half Orc Duskwarden 2

Yikes, Kua is at 1HP

Fortitude 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Fortitude 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Kua feels his muscles begin to go stiff as the yellowed fangs and claws dig into him, but a surge of adrenaline brought on by almost fatal danger spurs him to action.

Male Half Orc Duskwarden 2

Hooray, Kua may live another round!

Okay, for clarification on how this is setup, If Kua is in AK/20, then bad guy #1 is in AK/19, bad guy #2 is in AK/21 and Auron is in AK/18.

Is that right?

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

So with Kua's roll, our Initiative Order is:

Sister Mara (15+6): 21
Uwais (15+3): 18
Kua (15+2): 17
Auron (15+1): 16
Yang (15+1): 16
Creatures: 5

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

Knowledge (religion) check to identify the creatures: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Round One:

Sister Mara stretches out her hand and calls upon the powers of the Everflame to send a bolt of divine energy shooting toward one of the creatures threatening Kua as she steps into the passageway.

Move action 15 ft to square AK,24. Standard action to cast Disrupt Undead at the undead creature in square AK,19.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 4 - 4 = 5 (penalties for cover and firing into melee)
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Sister Mara's AC: 17
Sister Mara's HP: 19/19

Male Half Orc Duskwarden 2

Gonna assume that The layout I posted above is correct for now.

As Kua nearly succumbs to his wounds, his primal instincts kick in!

"Rrrrrarrgh!!" Blood and spittle fly from the orc's mouth as he attempts to cleave his assailant (AK/19) in twine.

Free Action: Rage! Now at 5 HP

Power Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Damage 1d12 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

If that hits and kills, Kua will 5 foot step to AK/19.

Male Human (Tian-Shu) Wizard (Transmuter) 2

knowledge religion 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

"I am unclear on this creature, but it is likely undead." Yang shows his keen knack for noticing the obvious in his statements, and unleashes a force missile at one of the ghouls.

damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Male Human (Cheliax) Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier (Hound Master) 2

Auron gives out a shout and throws himself into the fray. He swings his warhammer with deadly purpose, following with a maneuver to the right.

power attack with flank at AK21: 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 - 1 = 26
power damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 = 7
step to AL21.

In the chaos of the growing melee, Sister Mara's bolt of energy glances off of Auron's back, giving the warrior little more than a slight tingle. Uwais steps in far to the rear, just far enough to get a clear enough line of sight before sending a stone sailing into the corridor.

Sling: 1d20 ⇒ 81d3 ⇒ 2
But the bullet clatters through the stone chamber.

Furious at the ambush and his growing wounds, Kua brutally hacks into his assailant and cleaves the gaunt beast in twain before stepping over its body to place some distance between himself and the remaining attacker and enough room for Auron to step in and apply his warhammer to the creature's face, crunching bones and mangled teeth. Yang sends a familiar bolt of force into the undead menace, staggering it further.

But the creature remains standing and leaps at Auron with claws raking and jaws snapping.
Bite/claw/claw vs. Auron: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 21d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 71d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 191d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

The heavily armored knight seems to weather the assault well, until a claw slips just under his guard and pulls a rent in his chainmail. His arms and legs begin to feel leaden, his muscles seizing up.

Auron's Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
But the Hound Master proves too resilient for the paralysis to take root.

Okay, round two. I've moved Auron to AK20 since Kua killed the other ghoul.

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

Round Two:

Seeing an open path to the creature threatening Auron, Sister Mara draws her scimitar and charges to attack the creature.

Full-round action to charge 10 ft and attack the creature in square AK,21.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 + 2 = 18 (bonuses for charge and flanking with Auron)
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Sister Mara's AC: 15 until the start of her next turn.
Sister Mara's HP: 19/19

Godsmouth Ossuary Catacombs Map

Male Half Orc Duskwarden 2

Seeing the ghouls surrounded, Kua will end his rage and take defensive stance. +4AC until next round.

Male Human (Cheliax) Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier (Hound Master) 2

With arrival of the inquisitor to the fray, Auron attacks powerfully without reservation.

power attack with flank: 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 2 - 1 = 23
power damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12

Sister Mara hacks a deep gouge into the ghoul's shoulder, sending it reeling directly into Auron's powerful swing. It slumps to the floor, dead once again. A smell of rot and corruption suffuses the tomb as you conduct your post-melee search for salvage. Unfortunately, you find nothing of value.

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

"Well, gentlemen. Where next? Shall we continue our circuit clockwise and investigate the passage behind the statue of the handsome bearded man dressed in extravagant clothes?"

So, statue 6 - Xanderghul, Runelord of Pride?

Male Human (Cheliax) Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier (Hound Master) 2

'im, the warden needs a breather I reckon. Let 'im stand a bit at the rear.

Ready anytime.

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

Oops! Sorry Kua!

Realizing the extent of Kua's injuries, Sister Mara calls upon the powers of the Healing Flame tomend a portion of the Duskwarden's wounds.

Cast Cure Light Wounds on Kua: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Hmm... Let's cast a second CLW as well: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Auron shoulders open the next chamber with only a little effort to find a truly strange sight.

A plush red carpet runs down the narrow corridor between wood paneled walls polished to a high sheen. Floating lanterns cast a gentle glow into each alcove flanking the corridor, where bodies wrapped in pristine linen are laid to rest in niches. Rather than the clammy chill of most underground rooms, this chamber is pleasantly warm and the soothing sound of chimes tinkles softly in the distance.

Male Human (Tian-Shu) Wizard (Transmuter) 2

"Truly, the wonders of this place are many. How long do you think this has been like this?" Yang asks his companions, somewhat oblivious to Kua's wounds.

Male Human (Cheliax) Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier (Hound Master) 2

Eh, somethin's not right 'ere. Auron blurts out, seeing the obvious.

Mebbe some magick's about? If nobody's home, it woulda be a good spot to take a nap later on.

Taking his lit torch, Auron aims and throws it, trying to to catch the linen shroud on fire.

Good thing the priestess ain't around.

Auron tosses the torch a short distance to the second alcove on the right.
DM Screen:

Spoiler:
A:1d20 ⇒ 4 K:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 M:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Y:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 U:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

The torch hits the floor and sputters, but doesn't appear the catch the shroud on fire even though you can smell smoke.

Kua, Mara and Yang:

Spoiler:
Once Auron throws the torch and nothing happens you start to think something might be wrong. Concentrating on the details of the scene, the luxurious facade disappears and you see nothing but another bare stone crypt with desiccated, shrouded bodies in the alcoves. The (real) shroud next to the torch has indeed started to smoke and catch fire.

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

"An illusion. It's all an illusion," Sister Mara announces for the benefit of Auron and Uwais. "It's just another crypt like the others, with desiccated bodies in the alcoves."

Male Human (Cheliax) Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier (Hound Master) 2

Eh, that's it then? No warm, comfy room. Me eyes playin' tricks. Still can't get it.

Auron looks uncomfortable and a bit apprehensive.

Tell you what, still need to take a look see, right? I'll have me mutt follow whoever's goin' in.

Auron commands Jhaik to defend whoever's searching out the crypt.

Male Half Orc Duskwarden 2

"I see it too.. and can smell the smoke." Kua grimaces at the acrid smell of the burning shrouds. "Nothing but rotted corpses in there and even those will be ash soon." Kua covers his nose and steps away from the crypt.

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

Hanbo in hand, Sister Mara steps into the crypt to stamp out the smouldering burial shroud before the fire can spread. The inquisitor keeps a wary eye out for traps and hidden creatures as she does so.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Male Halfling Wolf Shaman Druid 2

Uwais follows behind the inquisitor, Waya padding next to him. His brow is furrowed as he tries to look in vain through the illusion. "Quite the magic," he eventually says, feeling vexed that he can't make himself disbelieve it.

Yikes! Sorry for the hold up!
Sister Mara steps into the crypt, with the intention of stamping out the fire. As she approaches the smoldering shroud, however, she notices a quiet dripping sound like beads of water hitting the ground. Looking further and to her left, she can see a human skeleton in a nearby alcove. Its bones are covered in slowly dripping red blood, droplets falling from its frame and onto the floor. It takes a faltering step toward her.
Okay, roll initiative and let's give the ad-hoc combat rules a trial run.

Male Human (Cheliax) Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier (Hound Master) 2

Init: Auron - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 ; Jhaik - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 , Jhaik has been ordered to defend Sister Mara. Auron's outside.

Male Human (Cheliax) Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier (Hound Master) 2

Jhaik watches as the queer bony skeleton rises and approaches his ward. Recognizing it as a threat, the hound rushes in and takes in a savage bite on the bloodied bone.

Round One:

Not entirely surprised by the appearance of another undead creature, Sister Mara eyes the bloody skeleton critically as she strikes at it with her hanbo. Mara will also take a 5-ft step to the side to open up the line of fire to the skeleton if possible.

Knowledge (religion) check to identify the abilities and weaknesses of this type of skeleton: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Male Halfling Wolf Shaman Druid 2

Startled, Uwais spits a curse in the halfling tongue as the skeleton reveals itself. His quick reflexes, however, allow him to load and fire his sling at the creature. Waya, however, unnerved by the skeleton's undeath, stays behind her master, ears flattened.

Male Half Orc Duskwarden 2

Kua is holding until after Yang's turn.

Male Human (Tian-Shu) Wizard (Transmuter) 2

Forgot to mention, I will be leaving for Italy (yet again) tomorrow afternoon, and will be back by Friday. Please DMPC me as needed.

Yang fires off another force missile at the undead creature. "For as much as Pharasma hates undead, there are certainly a lot down here."

1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Sister Mara's club cracks the skeleton's ribcage mere moments before Yang's arcane darts slam into its skull, knocking it to the floor.

Sister:

Spoiler:
The blood and gore caking the skeleton acts as a conduit for negative energy- the skeleton will heal itself shortly after being wounded and will continue to rise after being put down. Only by destroying it in the area of a divine blessing or hallowed ground or by sprinkling its remains with holy water can it be put to rest permanently.

Female Human (Varisian) Paladin 1

Round Two:

Sister Mara strikes at the creature againn in an effort to put it down quickly. "This type of skeleton regenerates unless we sprinkle its remains with holy water," she shouts to her companions.

Standard action to attack bloody skeleton.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 (bludgeoning damage)

If the attack drops the skeleton, Sister Mara will use her move action to retrieve a vial of holy water from her belt pouch.
