Denizabyss motions Throck to move over and get into position to protect us squishies!
If Barboo's singing alerts the Slaver, let me know as Denizabyss will take the stance that the Aspis are here and being a slaver, he is a "bad" guy so he will fire on the guy immediately upon loss of surprise.
Attack if Seen before everyone in Place, otherwise, when we attack, I'll use the full round/surprise round listed in spoiler.
Surprise round with only 1 action: Longbow to Hit after Study Target/Inspiration/Flagbearer/Point Blank: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
If full round available:
Longbow to Hit/Study Target/PointBlank/RapidShot/Inspiration/Flagbearer/Point Blank: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Longbow to Hit/Study Target/PointBlank/RapidShot/Inspiration/Flagbearer/Point Blank: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Sniping Stealth: 1d20 + 8 - 20 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 20 = 3
Well doubt snipe will stick unless everyone is blind.

With the noise from the chiseling the group is able to move into position. Barboo starts her song and unfurls her flag to inspire the group.

Crugeon looks back at Barboo, squinting in concentration, trying to figure out what she means. Then, as though on instinct, he realizes that an attack is imminent and springs to action. Not realizing until now that there was slavery going on (he was too focused on the fuzzy kitty), he becomes very angry and shouts out to to the apparent slaver in his high-pitched, but nonetheless intimidating voice.
Crug-on come get you bad man!! Lay down now or Crug-on make you lay down!
Demoralize: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Assuming the slaver is medium sized. If not, my intimidate check is a +5
Then, after the surprise is over, he rushes the man and strikes him hard with the backside of his scimitar. Instinctively, he seems to know that he shouldn't kill this man, but instead attempts to inflict heavy non-lethal damage.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Nonlethal damage: 1d4 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Note: mock gladiator trait. No penalty to nonlethal attacks if using chosen weapon (scimitar)

![]() |

Well, I guess we should probably question this guy for additional information.
As everyone gets into position, Denizabyss lets loose his nocked blunt-arrow at the Slaver.
Put on the -4 for non-lethal from lethal weapon at least if I read the rules right
Longbow to Hit after Study Target/Inspiration/Flagbearer/Point Blank: 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 4 = 7 Longbow non-lethal Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Denizabyss' first arrow flies into the ground as he didn't take into account the difference in weight from the blunted arrow.
Sniping Stealth: 1d20 + 8 - 20 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 20 = -8
Didn't think it would work but why not at least try.
After the surprise round, if the slaver is still standing, Denizabyss fires 2 blunt-arrows into the Slaver.
Longbow to Hit/Study Target/PointBlank/RapidShot/Inspiration/Flagbearer/Point Blank: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 4 = 21 Longbow non-lethal Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Longbow to Hit/Study Target/PointBlank/RapidShot/Inspiration/Flagbearer/Point Blank: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 4 = 17 Longbow non-lethal Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
If he is still up at this point, he will definitely be hurting!

Assuming the slaver is injured by Throck and able to talk
Barboo speaks to the slaver hoping to get some information
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
I'm not sure if I should have a 10 because I have on parade armor
Ok, we need you to tell us about this place. What is going on here?

![]() |

Throck rumbles into combat with his flail during the surprise round and bowls into one of the guys ready to tangle him up and take him to the ground:
Trip w/ flail: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
idk what the rules are exactly for tripping with a trip weapon, but I don't have combat expertise or improved trip:/
Throck's eyes squint in concentration and his usually vacant face and far away expression focus into sharp awareness

![]() |

@Throck:
If your attack exceeds the target's CMD, the target is knocked prone. If your attack fails by 10 or more, you are knocked prone instead. If the target has more than two legs, add +2 to the DC of the combat maneuver attack roll for each additional leg it has. Some creatures—such as oozes, creatures without legs, and flying creatures—cannot be tripped.

![]() |

@Barboo - Parade Armor is for a specific country, so the +2 for diplomacy influences people from that country only...so which country's armor do you wear?
Throck rushes in and trips up one of the slaves, the man falls hard with a look of terror in his eyes as the intimidating dwarf barrels in.
Denizabyss gets off a shot that misses, while Crugeon attempt to demoralize the slaver, who only gives a confident grin in return; that is until Denizabyss peppers him with two blunt arrows and Crugeon rushes him and drops him unconscious with the backside of his scimitar. He never knew what hit him as the rest of the slaves hit the ground and cover up.
Barboo is ready to talk, but he's out like a light, as the cat runs from the fight up the stairs.
Was looking it over and the non-lethal already there was enough to drop him...so I went ahead.

![]() |

I guess we did our job too good! and we'll have to chat with him when he wakes up
Great job everyone! Awesome hit there Crugeon! I'm glad you're on my side! Lem, would you mind binding this guy's arms and legs?
As Lem is binding up the slaver, Denizabyss turns to the slaves We are friends and are not here to hurt you.
He slowly moves towards them in the best unthreateningly way possible and asks
Do you need any food or drink or healing? He incants Casg Uisge Cruthachail and casts Create Water for any of the slaves in need.
Barboo, maybe you could talk with the slaves to see if they can provide us some information. Besides, they may be more inclined to provide us the information anyways.
He helps where he can and then goes about searching the area.
Denizabyss incants Cùisean a 'lorg draoidheachd and casts Detect Magic.
Denizabyss looks around the area including in the circular area looking for anything magical or interesting while Barboo talks with the slaves and waiting for the Slaver to wake up.
Denizabyss Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

![]() |

Throck, not realizing until after the slave laid helpless on the ground that he was, in fact, not an enemy, roughly stands the slave back up on his feet and brushes him off.

![]() |

Lem pops over and ties up the slaver. For some reason he looks fatter and really sleepy like he's been eating fried fish for a week....maybe just a play of the light.
We can maybe use a touch from my cure light wounds wand to bring this guy around and then interrogate him. What do you guys think?
Thanks everyone for delaying and I'm really sorry to force a break. I'm really glad to be back home and get back into the game!

![]() |

As Throck returns a somewhat stunned looking slave to his feet, he’s quick to huddle with the others for both warmth and safety. Yes, water, please One man says meekly, as a well feed looking Lem ties up the unconscious slaver. They drink deeply from the water Denizabyss makes, and several begin to shiver as they are no longer working in the cold.
Searching the slaver Lem and Denizabyss find a scroll, a tanglefoot bag, his studded leather looks really nice, a masterwork whip, a spell component pouch, a bronze Aspis Consortium badge, and a bill of sale for a slave purchase.
Finding nothing else of note in this room, Denizabyss scouts up the stairs to see a row of columns lines the inside of this tall, thin dome, each decorated with intricate carvings. The walls are completely covered in flowing script, etched into the red-brown stone with the delicacy of fine calligraphy. In the room’s center, a massive mountain of bronze rises nearly thirty feet. Several crates are visible on the south side of the stylized mountain, opposite the stepped entryway. The flicker of an unseen flame illuminates the room in dim light, the shadows shifting as if something were moving in front of its source.

![]() |

Nice looking armor! I don't need it, do you guys? Den, what's the scroll say? Cool looking whip but I'm sure I'd put my eye out with that!
I look over the bill of sale, trying to note any details on who purchased or where. Would love to try and get these guys back home. Barboo, maybe you could talk with the slaves and try and get some info from them? I'm sure they're terrified. Maybe they know why that cat was hanging around the slaver; a pet or mages familiar?
@David--I'm a little confused about my interaction with the haunt. It tried to scare me but I shook it off, right? Did I search thru that area yet or do we need to go back and finish that section?

![]() |

Lem, thanks for binding that guy. That encounter with the haunt seems to have made your clothes fit a little tighter. Hehe.
@Matt, glad you're back safe! Hope you enjoyed yourself!
This guy seems to have decent stuff for a slaver.
Denizabyss looks over the Slaver's stuff.
Denizabyss incants Cùisean a 'lorg draoidheachd and casts Detect Magic.
Picking up the scroll, Denizabyss incants a 'lorg draoidheachd and casts Read Magic.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Spellcraft Scroll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Do I need to do this with Read Magic?
Spellcraft Lamellar Armor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Hey Barboo, you want to check over these things, I can't figure out what they are
If the studded leather is not needed by any others and is better than his Lamellar cuirass, he will swap armors if time is available.
Afterwards, he scouts the stairs and notices the shifting shadows.
Quietly talking with his fellow party members,
Hey guys, I think something is moving in there. We may want to keep the slaver bound and gagged until we find out who or what is in the room. We really don't want this guy yelling out for others when we aren't prepared.
Denizabyss tries to get a better view of who or what is in the room without being seen.
If I can take 10 Stealth: 10 + 8 = 18
If not, Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

![]() |

@Lem - the haunt trigger and missed it's attack, haunts are kind of like traps, once it goes off it takes a while for it to return. Unless it's persistent, then it stays around this one wasn't. There was nothing else in the room.
@Denizabyss - You can either use Spellcraft OR Read Magic to identify a scroll.
Lem examines the bill of sale and finds that the slaves were purchased from slave markets in Okeno. Denizabyss finds that the armor is magic, although he is unsure of it's exact properties. He casts read magic and finds that it is a scroll of lesser restoration.
Would take a minute to remove and don the new armor. Assuming you do that, will hold to see if anyone else wants to do anything before you scouted ahead.

![]() |

After downing the slaver and receiving the praise from Denizabyss, Crugeon looks up, beaming like a child who's proud to show off his accomplishments to his parents. He heaves some deep, weary breaths as his rage subsides.
Crug-on do hurting. Gentle hurting!!
As Denizabyss changes armor, Crugeon goes to comfort the slaves. Oblivious to the ridiculousness of the gesture, he takes off his furs and hands them to the slaves. If they are lucky, the halfling's furs will provide some warmth to their hands.
After doing his good deed, he turns to follow the group into the other room. As he passes the bound slaver, he roughly "nudges" him with his foot. Receiving only a grunt from the unconscious man, Crugeon nods in satisfaction and moves on, scimitar at the ready.
I'm OK to move on, but assumed we checked this room out for other loot while Denizabyss is donning armor.

![]() |

I'll pocket the tanglefoot bag if no one else wants it and put the aspis badge with the bill of sale in my pouch. Why don't I scout ahead while he changes armor?

![]() |

Barboo standing with her hands on her hips and kind of daydreaming snaps back.
Well looks like all of you have done well and have captured the slaver and saved the slaves. Back up and let me speak to them. Let's see what I can find out!
She hums a little tune as she walks over to the slaves and begins to question them while the slaver is still out.
We are not here to help you. We just need to know what you are doing and why you are here.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
After getting information from the slaves, Barboo walks over to the slaver and uses her wand to wake up the slaver.

The slaves warm to Barboo's charming personality despite telling them that you aren't there to help them in particular. They open up as they fight to use Crugeon's wee furs to warm up. The one Throck knocked over speaks for the group.
We'll we were in Okeno, these people, the Aspis Consortium, bought us. We spent months rowing a massive galley. When finally the ship docked, we were given a thick smelly drink to drink, although it did taste okay. It put us straight to sleep, when we awoke we were here. We've been working for weeks chipping this ice. We heard them call this place the 'tapestry,’ what ever that means.
Barboo uses her wand of Cure Light Wounds on the slaver, it brings him around. He rolls around to look at his captives.
Well there goes the neighborhood, I thought I smelt Pathfinders right before you attacked. Ha - isn't it obvious this scum is opening up this place, so I can line my pockets. He seems bemused by his current predicament and Barboo is having a hard time getting a read on him.
Lem has a look up the stairs as well and is pretty sure something is moving behind the massive mountain of bronze, but what's on the other side can't be seen from the entrance.
If Lem wants to scout more move your icon to show me where to.

![]() |

I just want to go far enough to see what is beyond the mountain of bronze. Not sure if that is a screen around the mountain or not.

Barboo is fed up with the slaver and gives him a mean stare and walks away.
Barboo is still interested in the cat and calls the cat and holds out the small ration of food for the kitty.
Here kitty, kitty. Look what I have for you.
If the kitty comes over, Barboo tries to speak to the cat to see what the cat knows. If the cat does not come over then Barboo does not try to speak to the cat.
Wondering what Lem is concerned about Barboo does a check.

Denizabyss hands the scroll of lesser restoration to Barboo in case we need it later.
Yep, this new armor should serve me well, he thinks after donning the armor.
He turns to the slaver to try to get some additional information.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

He also checks out the cat again as with the slaver awake, he wants to make sure no tricks happen as this isn't a place for a regular cat and the slaver doesn't look to be very sentimental.
Nature(Nature/Monster Lore): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

![]() |

Lem scouts further along and behind the mountain sees a female half-elf in heavy robes studying golden artifacts. Another woman lingers nearby twirling a dagger in her hand.
Barboo looks for the cat, but it has wandered away. The slaver doesn't seem willing to give much up. But the slaves are more than happy to give more details.
The leader is a brutal half-orc names Leska, the others are all afraid of her. One of the slaves says.
The slaver chimes in, Am not! and he spits in the slaves direction.
There's a half-elf woman, she's the scholar of the group, Cathixia. Her bodyguard is another ruthless one, Neevindi. There are also guards Ulfen twins, and a tiefling. Leska is usually with Yashi, he's a sneaky one; and a rat person. Plus there are always a lot of other people coming and going. The slave continues.
The slaver chides him, Shut your dirty mouth! You'll all pay.

![]() |

I move quickly and quietly back to fill the group in on what I saw. Assuming they let me know what the slaves were saying I think we can assume Cathixia and her bodyguard Neevindi are who I just saw.
I picked up that tanglefoot bag, so could try and sneak back and throw it at one of them, probably the scholar. Should we try and talk with them or do a sneak attack? Try and keep it down as they're only about 40 feet away. We need to gag that slaver before he alerts them...

![]() |

I quickly gag the slaver upon hearing the news from Lem. I also give him a good hit on the head to try and knock him out as we don't need any additional surprises from him!
I think that since these are the Aspis and based on the information provided by these folks, we can assume that they are going to be hostile. I would rather sneak attack than let them get a chance to retaliate or call for help as we are definitely outnumbered here. We need to fight on our terms, not theirs!
As there are only two of them, let's hold off on using the tanglefoot bag as we may need it against the guards or the leader. I think that we should take out Cathixia first as she was identified as the scholar so I would equate that to be some type of magic user to be on the safe side. We don't need her casting sleep or some other spell that would take out most of our group! What are everyone's thoughts? We should act quickly though before we are discovered by any other groups.
I will take my time and sneak around to get a clear shot on the one that is the scholar (blue) and Study Target in anticipation of our sneak attack.

![]() |

Fine and dandy...anyone sneaking in give me a stealth roll and place yourself where you would first act. If not sneaking tell me what you would like to do.

![]() |

Preparing for the upcoming battle, Denizabyss casts Guidance immediately followed by Resistance and moves slowly into the room.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 = 17
Well looks like it could be one of those low roll days. Hopefully, they are too distracted by whatever they are doing to notice.

![]() |

Barboo places the scroll in her bag and thanks Denizabyss.
After listening to what Lem has learned, Barboo unfurls the flag and gets ready to sing her song of courage to the group if they decide to attack.
Do you think we should try to get some information out of the half-elf? She may help lead us to the leader. But that bodyguard should be taken down. I know you will all do a great job of keeping me safe. I know you can do it. I will have my dagger ready if you need me.
Barboo moves silently and slowly to get behind a pillar so she cannot be seen.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

![]() |

Lem will go to the bottom and try and hide behind the pillars. I have caltrops to toss out in the path of either of them if they try and run past me towards anyone else. If I make it this far and can continue to move around in stealth I'd be game to try and get closer, working my way around towards the ladies. Getting in place before the noisy troops move in would be great as then maybe I could get a sneak attack on anyone that moves by me to deal with them.
stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32

![]() |

After listening to the others come up with the plan, Crugeon nods sagely at Barboo and holds out his scimitar.
Got cutter! Keep Barboo safe. Do hurting! Crugeon growls in his high-pitched voice while glaring at the scholar's bodyguard.
Planning on charging the bodyguard (pink circle?) to take her out, assuming that Lem and Deni are going after the scholar?
