When were you thinking of beginning, Peter?
Edit: This is also the PC who played on Curse of the Riven Sky, fyi.

From our apparent party composition, it looks like we are running a dex based warrior lineup. Should I memorize bull's strength?
Pallas Morningstar
|
I have no particular need for boosted strength other than to increase our carrying capacity. If we are going into a gladiatorial arena, however, there are spells like "Adoration" and "Negative Reaction" that could be useful; both are in Ultimate Combat.
GM, am I correct in assuming that my "Good Hope" spell will not increase my performance combat roles?
EDIT: Additional GM question: Does my Circlet of Persuasion work on my performance combat checks?
Pallas Morningstar
|
Both the Circlet and Good Hope should work.
Whee! That should make things much easier when we're trying to impress the crowds.

Do we get access to gladiator spells like "Adoration" in PFS?

Yes.
Ultimate Combat:
Spells: All spells in chapter 6 are legal for play except the following: arcane cannon, energy siege shot, greater energy siege shot, greater magic siege engine, and magic siege engine.

And if you guys could figure out your performance combat modifiers so I can roll the reactive checks, that would be awesome.
I have a base performance combat modifier of +11 with my Circlet of Persuasion before adding any other bonuses from spells.

Marisa's Perform is going to be a lowly +2. :(
Definitely going to be using my mantle boons to improve that.

To answer Pallas general tactics question (here in discussion instead of gameplay since it's pretty OOC)
Brachus is a pretty standard Cleric
-provide healing, mostly through channel, use of a cure light wounds wand and spontanious casting if needed
-provide removing of afflictions; remove fear, paralysis, etc spells.
-provide travel; through dim door, fly spell, air walk and domain teleport
-provide some buffs; communal resist energy, magic circle vs evil, Blessing of fervor, freedom of movement.
If Pallas can take care of the freedom of movement I can switch it out for a Prayer, which will give our side a +1 to hit/damage and enemies a -1
Almost no combat ability, more of a support role. A few sound bursts (because I like the chance to stun and area damage vs swarms) and a hold person.
Mostly I'll try to get someone who can deal damage to the place where he can be the most use (if I teleport you next to something and you can do a full round of attacks it's most of the time more damage then when we both move there and make 1 attack)
If you want me to have a specific cleric spell, let me know. If it makes sense I'll take it

Ah..I just read the modified by BAB part..I missed that there was a table that explained _how_ it was modified under it ;)
That will teach me to read stuff while on lunch break

Marisa is a blaster mage who over the course of her career, tends not to blast. She is just too good at it. Her DPR when she decides to get serious rivals a dedicated archer specialized fighter or shapshifted druid with an animal companion and can compete in the DPR olympics. So she has this attitude of not viewing anything as real threats unless one of her allies yells out for help, or something is getting too close for comfort.
So our party composition is:
1) One frontline warrior who gets up in someone's face and hits face.
2) One bird guy who mumbles in wierd languages who happens to skirmish and flank pretty well.
3) One Support Dervish Bard Toolkit
4) One dedicated healer/support
5) One traditional glass cannon mage/tactical nuke.
It looks like we can do everything fairly well. We even got 2 people with trapfinding :)
It looks like our current team strategy is to buff our barbarian and rogue, to send them off to fight ground based enemies, with tons of support available. With all our suppport and buffs available, I don't anticipate our front line needing help handling any threats. If you do need help, call out for it and Marisa can help end the combat fairly quick.
Areal threats are probably going to be my domain.
For now, I'll set up my spells mainly to buff, Trying not to overlap the bard's spells too much.

Also, between the party we have about 90 charges of CLW in wands. Is that enough? I don't have any discretion funds left; I spent my 2 pa for this mod on diamond dust to put stone skin on people who request it.
Pallas Morningstar
|
I will also spend 2 PA on diamond dust for 3 castings.
Pallas can also act as the face, as all of his social skills are in the low- to mid-twenties. He's not particularly gregarious and chatty, but enjoys getting into long philosophical discussions.

Don't worry about being chatty. Marisa has that covered :P

Marisa: Chugan has improved evasion, so I don't really mind the occasional feather singing if it helps to turn a combat. That said he can lay down a lot of damage himself. My AC is good for light infantry but far from great at this level. I'll hand my Reduce Person wand to Marisa if I want to get small (unchained Rogue, so it levels out the damage and gives me +3 to hit and +2 AC sooo :P )

My high end fireballs hit a bit too hard to risk using those. They currently average about 101 damage on a fail. I save those as a "last resort." Hopefully it will never come down to that.
If you guys need support in melee, I have other blasting and control tools available that are more pinpoint, so you won't need that evasion.
Besides, this is a spectacle! I am going to try to get everyone to show off their might and skill in the arena! Even our opponents!

For future reference, Fire Snake is your friend. It quickly became my arterillery piece's favorite spell :).

10.
I updated him before we started.
Ah, I see what you mean. I forgot to update my lvl in the status bar. I did the important stuff ( e.a hp ;) but forgot to update that. I'll fix it now

Just an FYI, weekends I tend to be busy with family stuff, so I will be posting less.
Chugan

First, sorry if I post without an alias. It's something I have to get used to, particularly because I'm a VC. Second, I'm doing my VC thing at a con this weekend. I'll probably sneak a post in (probably while I'm overseeing Sky Key Solution :P ) but if I don't that's why.

GM, what is your ruling on the Bodyguard feat. Do I just need to just be adjacent to the person I am aiding, or adjacent to both the person attacking and the person I am aiding?
Pallas Morningstar
|
I believe last time I said both so I will be consistent.
:( So much for that feat chain then.
Pallas Morningstar
|
It's still pretty good.
We'll see. I won't whine about it any more in any case :)
Brachus
|
Technically I don't think you need to be adjacent to the person attacking, just be able to hit him. Which doesn't matter in most cases....but might come up in cases of reach weapons or enlarge and stuff like that.
And yes, should be ready for our first fight
Pallas Morningstar
|
I've never done performance combat before, but does Marisa get two performance combat checks, once for the energy spell as a swift action and once for first blood as a free one?
Marisa Hayami
|
Monks get evasion. It is entirely possible they all make their saves. If I manage to get one Red can roll it.
Pallas Morningstar
|
FYI, I will be traveling most of this weekend, and will not be able to check in very often. I'm leaving Saturday morning and will be back Sunday night.

Just to let you guys know, I think Red is in the middle of moving to a new home, so he probably has limited access to the internet if he has any at all. It may be a few days b4 we see him again.
