I've been looking at roll20,. I would be up for trying that some time, though I don't know how easily that could be pulled off. I'm assuming we are probably pretty well spread out.

Lavios: Heh, funny. Anything you want to do with what was posted for you? Just want to be sure before I post again for the tunnels group.
Professor Lennox, DM
I'd say OK so long as you don't metagame. But I'd prefer no just to see how everyone rps the impacts.

Don't forget your +1s for attack & damage thanks to Drogan's inspire courage.
I'll be posting later today for both groups. Have a busy Saturday, but in a good way!

I'm actually trying to avoid reading the details of the other group as well. I kinda skim them just to make sure no one is talking to Beckett somehow. I'm crazy curious about what it going on... :)

So according to the email I got from Jeff - I just have to use a free action to maintain my performance (proof that I'm a huge fan of Pathfinder bards). However, he also stressed that the role playing MEANS by which I maintain inspire courage and other performaces was up to me.
Since Drogan is a self-defined pub denizen, more comfortable on a tavern stage than a grand performance hall, I've decided that this bar-orator will basically maintain his inspiring performance in the form of witty insults.
So in other words, if I start a fight by inspiring courage - every time you see Drogan shouting out insults at whatever villain is on the other end of his axe - just translate that as +1. :)

Hey All,
Today was a deadline for me at work. I survived. :). But it ended up being an all nighter. I'll be sure to get a post up for Beckett tomorrow. Or please feel free to bot him. Basically he wants to follow the baddies.
Professor Lennox, DM
No worries, kind sir. I was pretty swamped myself. I'll look at posting tomorrow. The pursuit will take a turn, and little Caius has a tale to tell.

OK, crying your pardons once more. Work was draining and I needed a breather tonight. I'm off tomorrow, so will be posting in the morning with gusto.
As a side note, I'd be remiss in not wishing you guys a happy Easter! Tonight is the night we see our Lord betrayed. Tomorrow we see Him yield up His spirit for us all. But in the famous words of S.M. Lockridge, "It's a Friday, but Sunday's comin'."

I can relate. I've hardly seen my apartment this week! No worries man. I think I can speak for everybody when I say that when the game is good, we can be patient to see what happens next.

Indeed! While I'm sorry to hear that you guys are swamped... I admit to being relieved that it's not just me. :)

I really can't express enough how much I enjoy your ministry. This game, the Tavern, the podcast. It's all so fantastic. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into it!

Sorry I haven't been active lately. Amazingly enough, I've been busier the last two days that I've had off than when I have normal work days.
Looking forward to a great Easter day though.
I'm going to echo the Easter wishes of the others, and Beckett's praise for all things Innroads!
Just make sure you talk about us some more on the podcast :)

Hey guys, I probably won't be able to post today, besides right now. I'd also like to say that there is an application on the online game store Steam that's on sale, it's called "Tabletop Simulator" right now it's 12$. This includes 3d maps, models, animations for the models and dice, all included. I thought that maybe this would be a good way for everyone to play together if we all ever can meet up at one time. The sale goes off April 25.
Oh, and just for laughs, Tabletop Simulator has table flip physics.
Professor Lennox, DM
I think it has some potential there Lavios. I'll do some research and let you know.
Also, I'll do my best to post tonight, by this is BSF night, so it won't be until later.

I have a question for the Pathfinder vets.
When doing skill checks, do you get to add in your ability modifiers if you are not "trained" in the skill?
For example, Nosa is not trained in acrobatics but if I need to make an acrobatics check do I get to add my +1 for dexterity, or is it just a straight d20?
This is something I am not totally sure of.
Thanks in advance!
Professor Lennox, DM
Add the Ability Modifiers. But beware the consequences of thine armor, brave, sir knight...
For example, I've got a fighter with a Breastplate and a Heavy Steel Shield. But he's got a +1 Ability mod to Dex. Here's the rundown:
Start at 10
➢ +1 for the Dex Mod
➢ -4 for the Breastplate
➢ -2 for the Heavy Steel Shield
--------------------------------
= -5 to Acrobatics Checks
Here's a link in the PRD which has a good layout of Acrobatics DCs for frame of reference. Acrobatics
Okay, all that being said...there's also the "DM Modifier". If I see an awesome post and the writing in it just leaves me thinking I can't not give this a smidge of bonus...well, the fates are sometimes kind. :)

Hey Nosa, I know that the DM will run your character through the same program later, but I was bored and gave it a whirl. One suggestion though, I would drop your str to 15 for now and raise your wis to 13 with the extra point buy points. The reason is this. you need an 11 to cast 1st lvl spells, 12 for 2nd, 13 for 3rd, etc. Wis is also your willpower save and runs some of your spells and abilities later. You get ability score boosts at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th and 20th. At 4th your Str to 16, 8th Con to 14, 12th Wis to 14 in time for fourth level spells. If we make it to 20th then your Cha will be 18. This is a little min max, but without WIS you have no spells so I think that it is a better build. Just my opinion though.

Quick clarification, I think Nosa, your point spread might be fine. There might be some confusion on the Ability modifier for Paladin spells. That's based off of Charisma.
Now Clerics, their mojo is based on Wisdom.
Paladin Spells
Beginning at 4th level, a paladin gains the ability to cast a small number of divine spells which are drawn from the paladin spell list presented in Spell Lists. A paladin must choose and prepare her spells in advance.
To prepare or cast a spell, a paladin must have a Charisma score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a paladin's spell is 10 + the spell level + the paladin's Charisma modifier.
Like other spellcasters, a paladin can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. Her base daily spell allotment is given on Table: Paladin. In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Charisma score (see Table: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells). When Table: Paladin indicates that the paladin gets 0 spells per day of a given spell level, she gains only the bonus spells she would be entitled to based on her Charisma score for that spell level.

Wow! Thanks for taking the time to do that for me Karl. I really appreciate it.
I have no idea what the best way to build a character is in this game (since it's my first) so I did what I thought would be fun. I liked the idea of high str and cha right at the start though.
Also, I took a weapon focus in my longsword instead of power attack and the steel skin trait instead of sacred touch. Steel skin lets me put on and take off armor in half the time, gives me a family heirloom helm and a +2 on intimidate. Fits into my story nicely.
I am definitely going for the World of Warcraft style Retribution Paladin. Damage dealing, aggressive, with a tinsy bit of healing on the side :)
Thanks again!
Professor Lennox, DM
Karl brings up a great point though. I've been thinking of doing some house cleaning in the profiles and also getting some quick reference data under your avatars. First step in doing that is to get folks plugged into hero lab on my end.
Thanks Karl for getting me moving on that front.
So in the coming days I'll be going thru the profiles and making sure everyone is set up. This will include stat blocks (see Karl's) awesome example above. That'll be my starting point.
More to come...

It's a surprise round Lavios, that means we have surprise. You can make a an attack or make another action. If you fire into melee without a feat it is -4 or you can charge +2 to hit. If you can charge and flank it is +2 and +2 and Drogan adds an additional +1 to hit and +1 to Damage.

Hello all! I'm sorry I missed the outset of this campaign as I hadn't caught up on GSP for a while (which is where I heard about this). Am and have been into PbP's for a while and enjoy the format. It's been a while since I've played pathfinder, but I do like the system.
Phedron will be my character (obviously). He is a young, tall, bronze-skinned man with elven cues and long dark hair. He typically is well dressed and wearing a winning smile. His voice and speech fit well with his appearance as his tone is low but musical and is often busy with compliments or easy jests. It's a shame that you can't add your own avatars on here. They really don't have a lot of diversity, or at least they don't tag their images for searching very well.

Nosa - (...and an fyi for all...)
For the action you're taking, moving thru an enemy's immediate vicinity (neighboring square or 2 squares if they have a 'reach' weapon) will generate an Attack of Opportunity. Also, have a peek at "the Barn" link at the bottom of my last post; you guys are still in a 10 ft wide entryway to the stables. In the case of you attempting to flank the baddie, he's going to get a swipe at you. Do you still want to attempt the maneuver? Or do you want to just step forward and give him a whack?
Last, but not least, dealing non-lethal damage with a lethal weapon. Here's the skinny - 'You can use a melee weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage instead, but you take a –4 penalty on your attack roll.' Just a heads up, it's possible but it has its share of difficulties.
Great post by the way. Both you and Beckett went right for what I wanted; exploring motivations!
Reporting from the Pathfinder Law Library,
- Jeff

We could work towards flanking by taking a series of five foot steps each turn. Those don't provoke attacks of opportunity. However, the battle will probably end (one way or another) by the time we got in place... unless we all roll really poorly. :)
Lavios Daleborn

Lavios you can use your holy fire. It is a ranged touch attack. You have a better chance of hitting him because of his armor and can maintain the flank.
Oh, yeah, good idea.

Hey Gang,
As Roland Deschain says from time to time, "Cry your pardon..." The weekend got away from me. Between a jam packed Saturday full of family stuff and then on Sunday a waaaay overdue Pathfinder game with my longtime group, I just ran out of time.
That being said, I'll need another rain delay for Monday. Busy at work and my last night for BSF this season is nigh. I'll attempt an update but can't make a solid commitment. Also, Phedron, I've got your intro just about finished.
Thanks for your patience!

Everyone should post daily, sometimes there are exchanges between people so that there are more. Right now the DM has the party split so he has a lot of work to do, but he has been posting a few times a day. Combat goes pretty quick if people check in a few times a day and put in their actions, etc. A lot of it depends what's going on in the story. Sometimes you get in one quality post a day or you may skip a day if two party members are involved in something and sometimes you check in and it's like, "Holy cow! 15 posts!"
Right now the DM is busy scribing Elder signs, but we should move forward today. Once he stopped at the office well for a cup of water, and all the employees murmered affrightedly at the inconspicuous Zoogs that crept through the cubicals behind. At the lunch room, where people were stirring, he asked questions about the gods, and whether they danced often upon Lerion; but the janitor and his wife would only make the Elder Sign and tell him the way to Nir and Ulthar.
Welcome aboard.
