Wildir |

Wildir looks at the wooden shield he acquired from the stash with distaste. "An pair uf snow shoes vould haf been uf more use. You can hold on my back if you vant, Drew. Or ve could make an sled mit the shield."
The hairy northern looks suspiciously at the snowfield. Ve should cross carefully. The snow can cover a river or crevasse."

If the trail is still easy to follow I say we risk the drifts. Not only do we risk getting lost but losing our quarry if the weather turns for worse. But I agree with our large druid friend here, caution is key.
Trelck will take out his ax ad push ahead with it using it as a sort of shovel to clear a bit of space of the drifts as he moves forward to let the other have at least a slightly easier time.

DM-Phil |

Progress is exceedingly, almost painfully slow through the deep snow...however, you do make progress, pushing forward through the drifts as you continue to follow the trail left by those you are pursuing.
Perception (Salvianella): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Perception (Ykatarina): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Perception (Trelck): 1d20 ⇒ 10
Perception (Wildir): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Perception (Drew): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
The party is about halfway through the area of deep snow when, out of nowhere, the snow at Wildir's feet explodes with movement! A pure white reptilian creature erupts from the snow to one side of the party, opposite of Wildir; , it's serpentine body is at least six feet long, head distinctly dragon-shaped, it's yellow eyes trained on Wildir as it charges forward, it's two claw-tipped legs aiming to tear into the Druid's flesh!
Charging Bite:1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26
Bite Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Rake (Claw 1):1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 14
Rake Damage:1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Rake (Claw 2):1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 = 12
Rake Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
To clear up any confusion about the action...the creature is hiding in the snow 10' from where the party is walking by and pops out when Wildir gets parallel with it and uses a Charge. It has Pounce and Rake, so it gets the normal Bite attack plus two Claw attacks.
Hit from the bite and claw 1. That's 14 damage, Wildir. I think that drops you to -4, doesn't it? Last I saw you were at 10 HP. Also...surprise round over! Initiative rolls!

DM-Phil |

Good idea. Let's go ahead and do that for the rest of the group.
Initiative (Enemy) 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Initiative (Drew) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Initiative (Salvianella) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Initiative (Wildir) 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Initiative (Ykatarina) 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Initiative (Trelck) 1d20 ⇒ 19
EDIT: I forgot that Drew had already rolled. But y'know what? Drew, I'm the DM. My roll overrides yours. You've got the higher dex, so you go first. Also...you're welcome :P .Combat order is as follows:
Trelck
Drew
Bad Guy
Salvianella
Wildir
Ykatarina

Drew Fallowfield |

Not saying anything...nope..not me...Dm rolled!! thanks!
Drew is surprised as Wildir suddenly drops in front of him. He catches a glimpse of a white scaly creature, its claws and maw now red with blood, moving through the snow. He takes a quick slash at the creature as it tries to escape.
Attack-melee: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

Or I need to be bigger or more shiny, the damn druid keeps attracting the opening hits, this would be better if they kept trying to chew on me!
Suddenly besieged by the terrible creature Trelck turns to lodge his perfectly serviceable ax (previously being used as a shovel) on the creature.
Attack!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Son of a B@$~&!
Trelck swings wildly.

DM-Phil |

Against a more sentient foe, I'm sure Trelck would present a more attractive target.
Drew and Trelck both are so shocked by the creature's sudden appearance that their swings are wide; Trelck by a wide margin, but Drew's blade misses the animal by a hair's breadth.
Your foe seems to pay no mind to either of those attacking it, though, it's focus entirely on the unconscious body of its prey. It grabs Wildir's shoulders and wraps a portion of it's coils around the druid's body, clearly intending to drag the large man beneath the snow.
Fortunately, doing so distracts it enough that both Trelck and Drew get a chance to make up for their previous failed attempts!
Attacks of Opportunity from both Trelck and Drew.

Drew Fallowfield |

Seeing the fire bloom from the vial thrown by Salvianella, Drew realized that Wildir would be burned along with the snow creature. He quickly threw himself on top of the Shaman, attempting to cover both of them with his cloak...
So I guess Drew will take the 3 points fire damage

AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 WHAT THE F&@@!
Failing to find purchase as the creature moves to steal the druid Trelck fails again. HE said with no bitterness or rank contempt for the dicebot... As the fire blooms everywhere Trleck once more is singed, Damn you half elf CALM YOU NERVES. I'm having enough trouble without you trying to cook the damn meal for this monster!

DM-Phil |

Will Save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Sheesh. I wish I could roll this well in the games I'm a player in.
The snow-colored animal shakes off Ykatarina's spell easily, while at the same time avoiding the blow from both Drew and Trelck, to drag Wildir's unconscious body beneath the snow.
All is silent for what seems like ages, then the creature emerges from the snow once more, Drew's body no longer in its' coils. It hisses loudly at the remaining members of the group, its' claws spread menacingly.
It seems clear to you all that you are now operating on a time limit to fell the beast and recover your comrade from beneath the snow, else he will suffocate in the deep drift.

Ykatarina Yframovitcha Ystrova |

It's still got -2AC until Ykaterina's finished her next action..so it doesn't throw it off completely..
With no other options she casts cause fear on the creature DC15
The affected creature becomes frightened for 1d4 rounds. If the subject succeeds on a Will save, it is shaken for 1 round. Creatures with 6 or more HD are immune to this effect. Cause fear counters and dispels remove fear.

DM-Phil |

I'm kinda falling down on my job, not keeping everyone updated on the situation. The last action to be confirmed was Trelck's attempted hit on the creature.
So here's our current situation: I need a ranged attack from Drew vs the monster. After that, it will be it's turn again. It will then be Ykatarina's and Salvi's turn. Ykatarina has stated her action is to cast Cause Fear; I'll roll that save when it's turn comes up if you want to keep that as your action, Ykatarina. Then we'll be at Salvi's turn. After that, round 2 is over. Then we'll be back to Drew and Trelck to start round 3. The monster has currently taken 5 fire damage from Salvi's fire bomb.
Any questions? I want to make sure I've got this figured right before we go on.

DM-Phil |

The creature seems almost amused at your continued failed attempts to harm it. One target out of the way, it raises it's claws into the air, roaring it's fury as it charges once more, this time aiming for Salvianella, her firebombs having harmed it more than it's comfortable with!
Charge Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 2 = 25
Charge Damage (Bite): 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Charge Attack (Rake 1): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 2 = 20
Charge Damage (Rake 1): 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Charge Attack (Rake 2): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 2 = 22
Charge Damage (Rake 2): 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Yikes...and that's enough to put Salvi down for the count. Should bring her to -8 HP if my math is right. Ykatarina stated her action as casting Cause Fear, so I'll roll that Will save now: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16. Save successful, so it's Shaken for one round. That brings us back around to Trelck!

Salvianella Albercroft |

So I'll try to not kill my own party members this time around.
Salvianella's eyes go wide as the draconic creature bursts from the snow, and her heart begins to pound loudly in her ears. She pulls a flask of a thick reddish-brown liquid from her bandolier and looks at it in apprehension. As Wildir falls to the monster and Trelk and Drew rush forward she makes up her mind and downs the liquid in a single pull.
Salvianella bends double as if nauseous and slowly pulls her short spear from its holster at her back. Her form begins to bulge pulling her fancy clothes taught at the seams. Her muscles swell and her skin tears in places. After a few agonizing seconds she stops growing and rights herself. Her blond hair has fallen from its perfectly fixed style and now hangs in front of burning red bloodshot eyes.
Move action to imbibe a dose of Strength mutagen. +4 Str and -2 for 10 mins. Move action to draw short spear.
