Hehe, I’m still kinda shocked at how much pewpew he can do. I didn’t even spend a Ki point for a 5th shot and did over 80 points of damage. I don’t think I’ve ever built something that can do over 100 damage a round reliably.
Rickmeister |
Yeah, your zen archer can really tally up a lot of damage.. I'm curious to see how well it will go further down the road. Hope Anja will be able to keep up ;)
Haven't taken the feat yet for reducing "cover" bonusses yet, have you?
Rickmeister |
And... missed that aswell..
Holy crap, I'm starting to like a Zen Archer :D
Valeeran Northfeldson |
I think you're playing charmed well. You're specifically not in control of the person but rather just jump to "trusted friend" status. You wield a lot of influence but have to effectively use it.
I would also agree that it doesn't carry over to others. The tengus response was pretty spot on. Sort of like walking into a room where your best friend is with a bunch of people you don't know but they do. Depending on your personality you might be friendly to them because of the association but it's not like you share any history.
Anja Grava |
Yeah, I was expecting that. I did make time today to check back in so I could roll an intimidate. We'll have a little good cop-bad cop thing going. :)
Rickmeister |
Thanks! I think this made sense, but i'm not one to say that i'm holding all the wisdom :-)
And yes, f@~$ him up real good with good cop bad cop.. love it!!
Rickmeister |
Oh, just fyi, remember that i'm using this adventure as a trial run for my tabletop. So if you think one thing or another is nice or bad, be sure to let me know.
Oh, and it would help feeling insecure ;)
Shan-yu |
I didn't know you could take 10 on opposed rolls, or else he'd have taken 10 to sneak around and been higher than Anja's perception. Doesn't matter in this case since it's just continuing out angst towards each other, but it would be good to know for the future.
Rickmeister |
I think you can T10 as long as you are not under stress, but unsure on opposed rolls.
I'm not really into T10 in any way, only for those "mundane" rolls as to track a deer when you're level 20 or something. :)
Rickmeister |
Anyone heard anything from twilsemail/Durjaya? Hasn't been online for a while, starting to wonder where he's at :)
Rickmeister |
Are you guys fine with the rate of posting, or would you care to step it up a bit. I could definitely do faster, if you are all up for it :)
Shan-yu |
I could go for a faster posting rate, but that could be because I took my Cha 7 socially inept character out of the social situation.
Rickmeister |
Shan-yu, no problem with that, just be sure to mention every now and then what you are doing, or thinking, or something. At pbp sometimes people actually wait to respond to give everyone a chance to, but this sometimes backfires :)
If you want to post, post, if need be ooc :)
Oh, and I think you have all the information. But you can always ask him with you? :p

Card Vote = The Bear
Also:
I will be away from the 14th - 18th as I will be attending GenCon to support my companies published games as well as play some Pathfinder Society. As such, with my experience from last year, I very likely won't get to post during that time, it's gaming/demoing from 8AM-Midnight everyday.
Rickmeister |
Using a card is a none-action until I deem it otherwise. People can activate even though it's not their turn, or they don't have the object for all i care. The rules say nothing, so eexperimenting a bit :)
Either that, or every time we'll pass the deck around, making someone else responsible. What would you guys say? Trying to find a way to make it easy, fast and involve everyone (tabletop aswell).
Gib 2 cents plix!?

Hey all,
This is a blanket apology going out to all the threads I’m active in. We had a surprise FDA inspection last week and my life was flipped upside down for the majority of the last 7 days. They’re gone and life should be back to normal. Sorry about the absence.
I'll work on catching up, it looks like you guys made quite a bit of progress without me.

Hey guys, quick question/comment for you. Do you guys want me to tone down the ZA cannon so everyone can participate in the combats? I know I’ve been on the other side of things and felt unnecessary and an “also-played” and did not want to do that to people here. If you guys are fine with it because it can make combat go faster, which is always an issue in a PBP, I’ll keep it up, but wanted to bring it up here in case it was disturbing anyone.
Valeeran Northfeldson |
I don't have an issue with it. Have at em :)
Rick as to the deck. I tried looking at the Deck of Illusions and Deck of Many Things as examples but they don't specify any activation criteria beyond drawing cards. So going back to the generic activation rules I'm thinking it would be a standard action to activate (that seems to be the default assumption in the rules). On top of that it's probably a move action to retrieve a stored item. Not saying we have to do it this way, just figured I'd do some related rules research for you :)
As for who gets to draw them. I guess my baseline thought would be someone is carrying the deck and draws the cards. A second option would be that the deck "appears" in the pocket of a random person each time it can be used. A third option might be that there's no deck at all but instead each character has a portion of the deck appear on their person when they arrive in storyland.
Just some thoughts :)
Rickmeister |
As far as making the one person responsible, i agree that would be the most logical choice. I mean, he has to pull a card and activate it and all that.
However! I would not like to rob someone out of his first round like that. So I'm going for the random person each time, simply to make it more of a team-effort. No problem in asking in discussion what everyone else thinks, but this should speed things up and involve everyone in the game some more. Next to you see "The cards are burning a hole in your pocket" it will be followed by a person's name. When that one posts his action, he decides which cards to activate (currently still as a free action). If he posts a little bit later (due to RL or initiative), it just shows the difficulty of selecting the correct card. :D
Whatcha reckon?
I already know how to do it on the tabletop, so thanks for that you guys, you've been a great help so far.
And as always, feedback (like Valeeran just know) is greaty appreciated :)
Anja Grava |
I see how it is, Shan! It's all 15s and 16s until it's time to get the bear attacking Anja, and then it's "Oh, darn! Another 3! Well, maybe I'll get him next round..." :p
Rickmeister |
Nicely done Valeeran, I'm going to give the others a chance to say something before I reply with Bernaditti :-)
Anja Grava |
Card: Rakshasa it's the exact same image as the picture of Bernaditi: well-dressed alligator man sitting on a bowing human man-slave.
Rickmeister |
Well, i'm going alphabetically so after Valeeran it's now your turn to choose the card! :-)
Be sure to implement it in your next gameplay post for full effect.
Shan-yu |
I'm not seeing any limitation on what our questions can be about. Did I just miss that, or is this a "What has he gots in his pocketses" moment?
Valeeran Northfeldson |
Ya not quite sure how to proceed myself. Thematically it probably makes sense to ask about the circus, area, or plot line. "Win the challenge" wise it makes more sense to ask easy to verify questions (ex. How many bears did we just fight). Oddly I think this is a situation where our characters would metagame but as players we might want to be more thematic :)
Rickmeister |
And who's to say he'll respond with "two"? :P
And who's to say those were bears? :P
Try to think of a good question that fits your character, and allow me to work my DM magic :D
Anja Grava |
Yeah, anything to do with the setting would be hard for us to prove. Anja's question was intended to be one of them, thinking he might lie about being a rakshasa, though she'd leave it up to the spellcasters to prove it.
Anja Grava |
We should probably ask him where the jewel is. If he tells the truth, we know where it is and then we 'kill' him; if he lies, he loses this little game, and we hope he's better at his word than we are.
Shan-yu |
Probably should have been a bit more specific with the "where is" question. "In this plane of existence." is true, and doesn't help us a bit.
Anja Grava |
I'll keep Anja's question about 'what are you' and let Valeeran ask the location question. Only other question that might be fun is, "what would happen if we killed you?" Even though we know storykin can't die, whatever he answers we call him a liar and then proceed to prove it. By killing him.
Rickmeister |
I like it, Anja!
"See, told you this would happen!" :p
Everyone ask your question, so we can continue please!
Anja Grava |
I think the only one we're missing is Durjaya, but he hasn't posted in any of his games after his blanket apologies.
Unless Skitter gets a question, too.
Rickmeister |
We'll let Skitter ask the fifth question then, in place of Durjaya..
I sent him a message, but he hasn't replied either :(
Rickmeister |
Guys, in less than 10 hours I will be undergoing (major) eye surgery, so it's possible that I can"t react for 48 to 96 hours. Just a tiny head's up, and I'd appreciate it if you fudge the dice roll to make my doctor roll a natural 20 :D
/Rick
Rickmeister |
Yes, everything went okay. They put me under and did their thing, today I have near perfeect vision in the left eye, and the right eye is a bit blurry but the doctor said it should become clear over the course of the following days.
Rickmeister |
Khar, you still there?
@everyone: would you mind terribly if i were to recruit someone to take over Durjaya the penitent? Don't think twilsemail is coming back anytime soon :-(
