Wizzy will end his inspire as a free action, the bonuses linger for 2 rounds via feat, and then pull his whip and ready a trip manuever should the golem try to stand again..

Lowering his bow Hal laments, "Hopefully that'll put the beast down." Looking around the ruined greenhouse a worried expression crosses his face, "I do hope we haven't damaged any of the relics here, that would set back our efforts in Varisia some."

![]() |

I'll move into the greased area if I 5-foot step toward green, won't I? Not 100% sure where the grease was placed.

![]() |

I'm not entirly shure about the grease area, but I think it was where I marked the yellow border on the map. Yes, you would step into the grease area.
While Wizzy stops to sing and pulls his whip Halcyon shoots two arrows at the guardian on the floor. Both arrows hit, making holes into it's hull. The cracks are enough to render the guardian immobile.
combat over
Outside the greenhouse you hear some noise, people are rushing around to see what's happening or if they can help to save the house from catching fire. Also VC Heidmarch is there to direct several servants to help combat the minor blaze in the greenhouse.
Sheila then shares with you her suspicion that enemies of the Society sabotaged the constructs. "I ask you to investigate the circumstances of the angelic guardians' crafting. I suggest you go to the Golemworks and meet my contact, a man named Reemis. I placed the original order for the angelic guardians with him. The Decemvirate wants to stay on good terms with the Golemworks, and discretion is necessary. Find out who made the guardians and what the artificer's true motivations were."
You uncover a small placard on nape of each angel's neck in the shape of the Golemworks' insignia. Each bears the angels’ creation year (the current year) and has a space for a maker’s mark. In all three cases, no maker’s mark was left to identify the creatures’ creator.

Going back to his comrades Hal shows them the placard he took off of one of the golems, "I found this on each of the golems. All made this year, but no mark to indicate who made it."
Looking at Wizzy and Alektara specifically Hal asks concerned, "Do either of you need healing? Flogentopp, Alektara?"
Still don't know IC if Wizzy prefers to be called as such.

"Oh, thank you." Lady Heidmarch answers to Wizzy and takes her wayfinder back.
"Well, that's interesting. I suggest you ask Reemis about it. Somebody does not want to show his face, that's clear." she says while looking at the placard.
and once you are ready to go to the Golemworks
North of the Irespan, a cluster of warehouses harbors one of Magnimar's best-known industries - the Golemworks. The shouts of laborers who dredge fallen segments of the Irespan compete with the clamor of artisans: the sculptors, jewelers, woodcarvers, and arcane artificers whose secret skills breathe life into their constructs. You have little trouble locating the Golemworks' sprawling complex.

Before moving into the factory Wizzy will cast extended heroism on himself and triple time on the group.
Triple time is a +10' movement speed for 1 hour folks.

"Thanks for the boost of speed Wizzy" Alektara says as she moves towards the golemmaker...

Shayla enters the Golemworks with the others and approaches the first person she sees.

"Yes, he's in his office. It's the third door to the right." a gnome with dirty hands answers.
Once at Reemis' office door you knock and a pudgy, balding Chelish man in his mid-fifties opens the door. He greets you. "Welcome at The Golemworks. What are you looking for? A private servant that cooks tea? A guardian? We can build everything!"

![]() |

"We actually have come to talk with you about another matter.. We are here on Lady Heidmarch's behalf. She recently purchased a few Angelic Guardians to protect her manor house. We were charged with putting them into service, but upon awakening they attacked us. Unfortunatly they had to be destroyed and we could find no name for the artificer. Can you please provide us with this information?"

"Hm, that confuses me a bit. Wait a moment." Reemis says and leaves you momentarily to search his records.
He returns scratching his chin, holding a piece of paper in a leather folder. He lets you have a look at the papers. It's Sheila’s original order. The document clearly states the quantity purchased, delivery instructions, and orders to be programmed into each guardian. At the bottom of the receipt is a scrawled signature from the artificer who marked the job as complete: Chrysalis Black.
"Black isn’t the sort to leave his maker’s mark off one of his pieces." Reemis says. "The artificer is among the most promising members of the Golemworks’ faculty. He holds his reputation in the highest importance. Please follow me to Black's workshop."
Wizzy is sure that Reemis tells the truth.
Reemis leads you through the maze of workshops, warehouses, and foundries that make up the Golemworks to a small wooden building he identifies as Black’s workshop. Reemis knocks, but nobody answers. He tries to open the door, but it's locked.
"Black is possibly out getting some spell components and will likely be back soon." Reemis says, quite nervous. "You can wait here for his return, let me unlock the door for you." and he attempts to unlock the door.
The door’s lock is augmented with an alarm spell.

![]() |

Wizzy stands and waits for the door to open.. I dont think there's anything described that would have us detecting magic at this point.. Or for me at least..

![]() |

"Would it be wise for us to wait there? In his workshop? Especially if he is not there?" Alektara asks politely before the door is unlocked.

![]() |

Hal brings Ruckus to heel. "I'm sure if someone informed him that he has guests it shouldn't be a problem." Turning back to Reemus Hal asks, "So he is a wizard of some sort on top of an artificer? Are all of your staff of that persuasion?"
I agree, nothing is sending off alarm bells to Hal or Ruckus either

![]() |

Despite the fact Shayla dislikes and distrusts most humans, she sees no reason for alarm just yet and patiently waits for the man to unlock the door.

![]() |

Ok :D
Reemis unlocks the door and lets you enter the workshop.
Two exotic rugs cover the oak floor in this well-furnished L-shaped office. Several tables and chairs offer spots to relax after a day's work, and a sturdy bar of cherrywood displays all manner of exotic drinks. A golem crafted from mahagony and other fine woods stands in the corner.
"Yes, Black is a powerful wizard, but we also have alchemists and engineers among our staff." Reemir says. "I have to leave you alone for now, I have some work to do. I'm sure Black will be back soon. I'll ask one of our assistants to look for him."

Shayla walks over to the couch and sits down on it. As Suri settles at her feet, Shayla looks around from where she's seated.
Perception, Urban situation: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 4 = 34 +4 vs. Humans; +2 vs. Evil outsiders
"Should we check the other rooms, or is it better to wait here?" she asks her allies.

![]() |

"Probably just best to wait here if Reemis actually told someone to look out for Black."
Hal pauses and looks at the weapons on Shayla's belt curiously. "If you don't mind me asking, what made you choose saw-tooth sabers as your weapons of choice? I haven't seen any since my training at the Grand Lodge."

![]() |

Alektara moves over to a seat in the corner watching the others move about the room.

![]() |

Great, the human's talking to me...
At first it looks like Shayla's going to ignore Halycon, but she turns her head a couple of seconds later and starts talking to him.
"I happened to hear about sawtooth sabers while I used a longsword and short sword myself," Shayla tells him while shifting a bit on the couch.
"I learned that, when properly trained in their use, you can wield one in your off hand. The idea of using two large swords instead of one large sword and a small sword appealed to me, and I decided to switch to using them."
Shayla grins as she adds, "In addition, I find they look cool."
Her somewhat distant demeanor thaws a bit while she looks Halycon and his weapons over. "You've mainly trained in the use of the longbow?"

![]() |

Hal is glad to pull a smile from the serious looking elf. "Aye, but I guess its what was expected coming from a family of Rangers and Hunters. Growing up in the Verduran forest and working with the local temple of Erastil probably helped push me along this path as well. Besides, I find it cathartic, and a bit calming, to draw and release tension through a bow."
Turning back and looking at Suri, settled at Shayla's feet, a bit of wonder creeps into Hal's voice. "And please, tell me how you met your companion, she's very beautiful, and powerful."

![]() |

"I was out hunting when I saw Suri for the first time," Shayla says while petting her companion's head.
"Before Suri I had a bunch of constrictors, but they all kept dying on me. What's more, their large size didn't make it easy to take them with me inside buildings. That's why I'd been keeping an eye out for a suitable companion of her size. As soon as I spotted her, I figured I'd try to tame her. Was quite easy, actually."
Shayla nods at Ruckus. "Does everyone in your family have a hound?"

![]() |

Hal smiles as he looks at Ruckus fondly, "No actually. I just sort of happened upon him, like you did, out hunting. I noticed growling and yipping, and when I arrived at the scene I saw a pup trying to scare off a large wolf. May have even been one of my father's pack, but I was able to scare it off when I put a few silver tips in its hide. I decided to name him Ruckus after all of the commotion he caused, and kept him in Fusil until he was old enough to help me hunt. His nose has helped me on several occasions now."
Hal looks Shayla directly in the eye, "It is always good to find more agents that appreciate the help companions such as ours can give."

![]() |

Shayla stares at Halycon for a moment before replying, "It sure is."
Not the worst of his species, I suppose.

![]() |

"Careful, we do not want more of those constructs to spring to life"

![]() |

While Halcyon does not notice anything out of order but Wizzy and Shayla notice something. There is a slight change in firmness on the floor. Loose floorboards cover fresh dirt.
Wizzy scans the room for magic and it seems the statue Halcyon is examining is a construct. Some of the chairs also radiate magic, as well as the floor below the curtain. where the loose tiles are.
After about 90 minutes the door opens and a man with long blonde hair and glasses enters. "Hello. I'm Chrysalis Black and you are?" he asks looking at you.
you had enough time to further examine the magic things in the room, just ask if you want to know something

![]() |

"We are associates of Sheila and she asked us to look into something for her. We have some questions regarding the angelic guardians."

![]() |

Hal leans on his bow and gives the biggest grin he can, "Yes, they seem to have been given the wrong commands by whomever enchanted them. It appeared intentional." My nocking fingers are itchy, please let me know if you'd rather I be less antagonistic.

![]() |

Shayla's short fuse burns up as soon as Black opens his mouth.
"Listen carefully, mister smarty pants! Those pieces of junk attacked us and you're going to explain how that happened, or else we'll tie you up and start digging behind those loose floorboards of yours!"

Hal carefully knocks one of his blunt arrows and stares daggers at Black. "It would be rather simple 'forget' to add one's mark to the golems being crafted if they were never intended to protect the bearer of Sheila's Wayfinder. So please, give me a reason not to listen to my comrade here and you might survive with only a few bruises"
Ruckus sensing his master's displeasure growls low in his throat hackles raised.

"I'm not going to explain anything as long as you can't provide a maker's mark. And just start digging, you'll be surprised what you are going to find!" Black answers.
Suddenly a chair moves up to Halcyon and tries to grapple him, but grapples the bar stool instead.
