The metal door seems cool enough to snake, so Mud extends through the hole stopping at the point where he can see and hear inside the vault. Since he's been standing in front of the hole, they shouldn't see a change in light, so hopefully they won't know he's there if they are still there.

::Is there a particular nickname/phrase we might know that the baddies don't? I'm grasping at straws here, but if Aegis starts to whomp on us, I'd like an alternative. What about stuff we did last week? Yesterday, even?::

Mud manages to ooze part of him through the burned hole in the wall, the sides still hot enough to make him wince, but cooled enough that he doesn't get seared. However, the combination of his distraction and the cold that came through earlier from the extinquisher means that people are watching.

As he opens an eye on the other side, something reaches a molten paw into the hole and claws at his eye!

Fortunately, it doesn't manage to do much damage. Desolid defense

Before the thing attacks him, he get's a brief view of the room beyond. A small area is surrounded by bars, like in a jail, then beyond it are more doors and bars, cells filled with gold bars, or stacks of money.

However, the fire guy is watching the vault door, while the black mentalist is tapping her foot with her arms crossed, and the electric guy is just standing and staring at the wall.

As he pulls back, molten stone begins to pour out of the hole after him, drooling down the doorway. It forms a tiger of stone, semi-solid and glowing magma and then it roars and leaps at Mud.

There isn't much that Violet can do regarding the bad guys. At this point, the only way I'm going to be able to do anything against them is if MDT lets me pull a power stunt and see through Mud's eyes.

We're not in actual combat, so I'm basically doing 'PCs' then 'NPCs' rather than adhering to strict dex order. If you want to wait for them to do something you can, it's just that nobody is posting so I can't do anything either. So far, on Phase 3, only Blaze has done anything (wait). Nobody else has done anything other than hold mental conversations.

Alright, I'll take that as me being wrong about the turns and actions. Sorry for screwing everyone up. If this wouldn't work because Mud is in the hole, wait until Mud does something.

Target Hex through Hole: 17 - 3d6 ⇒ 17 - (4, 3, 5) = 5
Suppress: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 6) + 1 = 10

Pulse uses the information Mud had passed her mentally to decide which side of the hole to be on to best throw her suppress through. If the bad guy was talking to some machines, like she suspected, disabling that would be quite useful.

I’m snowed in at work, so am on my phone.

Mud will back out of the hole, solidify, and create a wall from the floor to cover the hole. He’s just trying to block line of sight and hearing, so they can get ready for their exit.

::Let's not do possibly millions of dollars of damage just so the bad guys can't have it. They can teleport but clearly need at least some kind of line of sight, we need to get ready for round two. Without any reliable way to get everyone inside quickly we don't have many options except waiting around.::

Aegis shifts her weight slightly from side to side as she thinks, maybe there was a way to open the door from inside the wall, or some other trigger she could use to get the team in?

GM applauds the concept of the PC's using tactics in the future, rather than 'everyone do random things'!!!! It makes it much harder on the GM to not feel like he's steamrolling the PCs if they use some tactics!

I personally, as a player, think that for a group such as ours, we're doing okay - we STILL don't know the extent of metahuman saturation in the world, nor do we know all of the "Who's" and "Where's". We've gone from "it's just us and a few others" to "there's a worldwide network of good and bad metas out there, and we are way over our heads all of a sudden," and that's great. In character, Violet's just ticked that everyone knows about us, and we can't seem to find a damned thing out about any of them until we go in - somewhere in her head, she's convinced that we can find a way to do that, ourselves. If that means getting plans and tactics out in front, then so be it.

Violet, or someone else, needs "detect mind control" or something, so when we DO go after the mentalists first, we can figure out if they've got the guards under some kind of geas or other so we don't end up with civilian casualties. I'll noodle around and see what that might cost.

Pulse moves up to the door, stepping around the lava cat, and looks through carefully and fires off her power into the other room.

When she does so, a face appears at the other end, a face that burns with flames.

The tube fills with something that oozes out on her side and another lava cat appears, and swipes at Pulse!

Assuming PD and Heat Damage. Makes 10 body, 10 stun pre-armor, with 10 RpD and 10 pD. So no damage (at most).

When the cat swipes at her, Pulse grimaces, and tries to slip away but the claws rake across her forcefield, leaving it red-hot, but the attack doesn't seem to reach her.

Damage, Pulse: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11 body, 33 stun, half armor

The two lava cats attack again, one clawing mud across the stomach, the other leaping into the air and sinking sizzling hot fangs into Pulse's shoulder!

16 body = 6 body gets through. 49 stun = 39 stun gets through. Pulse is con stunned, her effects (suppress and forcefield) end, she is heavily wounded at 4/15 body. She is at 11/50 stun and cannot move.

This time the claws rake into her shoulder and she isn't dealt a glancing blow. The claws bite deep as they dig sizzling furrows first through her force field and then through her person. She cries out, stumbling backwards and losing concentration on whatever she was doing.
